A Twitter User has revealed the alleged treatment a man received at the hands of soldiers in Edo State.

The User, Ken Henshaw, shared images of a man beaten so badly that he had bruises and cuts on his head and torso.

The victim was allegedly flogged by soldiers in Benin City yesterday, September 6, for not removing his car from the road President Buhari, who was slated to visit the state, was to use hours later.

WAEC SUPERVISOR ASSAULTS FEMALE MUSLIM CANDIDATE

A female Muslim candidate writing the current examination of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Khadijat Eniola Anisere was assaulted by a female supervisor of WAEC at Egan Grammar School, Igando, Lagos State. The incident occurred while candidates were taking biology on Friday, 2nd September, 2016 between 9.30 am and 12 noon.

The WAEC supervisor who was shuttling from one center to the other arrived the center and entered the examination hall where the Muslim girl was seated among many other candidates, clad in hijab. She approached the hijabite and ordered her to remove her hijab. Khadijah pleaded that hijab was her mode of dressing as a Muslim. She further pleaded that she would feel totally Unclad if she removed the head cover.

Obviously enraged and determined to enforce her illegal command, the WAEC supervisor yanked off the hijab from the poor girl’s head. Khadijah, whose examination was already interrupted, burst into tears. She cried throughout the rest of the examination period and was unable to continue taking the examination. The incident was reported by members of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) at the human rights desk in Igando Police Station by 10 am on Saturday, 3rd September 2016.

MURIC strongly condemns this wanton assault on an innocent female Muslim teenager. It is most bizarre, highly barbaric and totally deplorable.

This is a hate attack and a blatant act of Islamophobia. We see it as part of a grand design to slowpoke the progress of Muslim youths. Christian fanatics working in government agencies like WAEC have been instructed by hate preachers to create bottlenecks for Muslim youths by all possible means.

Section 38 (i) & (ii) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria not only grants freedom of religion but also stipulates its practice and manifestation. Hijab is therefore a legally recognized head cover for female Muslims. The supervisor’s order for the removal of the hijab was unlawful, unconstitutional and therefore ultra vires. The forceful removal of the candidate’s hijab constitutes assault in legal parlance.

The supervisor’s attack on Khadijah Anisere is a breach of Section 13 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act (1991) which provides ‘’a public officer shall not do or direct to be done, in abuse of his office, any act prejudicial to the rights of any person knowing that such act is unlawful or contrary to any government policy’’

For whereas the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Article 4, Clause 1 & 2 affirm that “Human beings are inviolable. Every human being shall be entitled to respect for his life and the integrity of his person”, the WAEC supervisor chose to derobe the innocent Muslim girl in public.

MURIC demands justice for Khadijah Anisere. Nigerian Muslims will not fold their arms and watch their daughters dehumanised by Christian fanatics. WAEC must identify this extremist supervisor and discipline her. People like her are responsible for series of religious crises that have resulted in loss of lives and destruction of properties worth billions of naira. What Nigeria needs most today is peace and stability and our public institutions cannot afford to create unnecessary tension at this point in time. We assert that justice is the soul of peace and whoever denies one can never enjoy the other.

We therefore demand a public statement from WAEC on the supervisor’s identity and the official reprimand failing which WAEC should blame itself for the reaction of Muslims. Nigerian Muslims also want to know what palliative WAEC has in store for the innocent girl who was rudely disturbed during the biology examination. Will she fail biology?

We also appeal to the Federal Ministry of Education to restrain examination bodies from imposing anti-Muslim rules on registration guidelines.

Here lies the real anatomy of terrorism and religious violence. Fanatical officials use their positions to victimize Muslims everyday in Nigeria. The natural corollary can only be likened to smoke from fire.

Nonetheless, we appeal to Muslims throughout the country to remain calm and law abiding as WAEC and the Ministry of Education take steps to address the matter. We advocate dialogue in place of spontaneous or premeditated violence. Muslim youths are warned not to take the law into their hands.

Residents of Emure in Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State, are still in shock over the dastardly act of a 50-year-old man and native of the town from Ile onisa quarters, and simply identified as Williams who allegedly impregnated his 14-year old daughter (names withheld), and subsequently murdered her to cover up his crime.

Residents in the community told DAILY POST that Williams had some few months ago ended up putting his 14-year old daughter in the family way after series of alleged illicit affair with the poor girl. They added that recently, the girl began to develop a protruding stomach and no one was seen with her except her father.

Neigbhours who had been suspicious of the unholy rapport between father and daughter began to peddle rumours about the source of the girl’s pregnancy. Soon, the news was making the rounds among the villagers, gossips and rumour mongers that Williams had performed the ‘uncommon feat’ of impregnating his own daughter.

Moreso, that the community isn’t a complex one as relationships among residents are closely knitted: like the saying goes ‘bad news spreads like wild fire”; in no time, everyone began to point fingers at Williams whenever he passes on the streets, they were telling one another that he had put his own daughter in the family way.

Then the worst happened.

According to Anike, a lady resident in the community, Williams woke up on Sunday (September 4) morning, summoned yet another uncommon courage, took his ‘expectant girl’ to his farm in Aba Iso area of the community, ended the whole shameful drama there, quietly dispatched the girl and her unborn baby into an early grave.

“We are sure Williams killed his pregnant girl so as to cover up his crime because the girl’s pregnancy was already becoming very conspicuous and everyone knew that it was her father who slept with her,” the lady said.

” It took us a while before we were able to apprehend Williams and drag him to the Oba’s palace, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo who is himself a retired Police Commissioner.

The monarch has since handed him over to the Civil Defence Corps who have since taken up the matter,” another resident, Omodele, said.

According to an online report, a woman who had accompanied her boyfriend to a party in the in Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State, has been gruesomely murdered by her lover’s friends who reportedly cut off her breast and dumped her body in a river.

It was gathered that after the party, the deceased’s boyfriend told her he wanted to branch somewhere and that she should follow two of his friends back home.

She did, not knowing that there was already a sinister plan to kill her.

The suspects were later apprehended by the police for futher investigation and prosecution.

This photo has caused a stir on social media since it emerged.

The photo was shared by a a Twitter user with a horrific claim attached to it.

Identified as Vincent Chinenye, the Twitter user revealed that the woman in the photo was beaten black and blue by her husband for claiming that President Muhammadu Buhari was working.

Social media users have reacted to the sad development, with many saying the woman’s husband must have had it rough in recent times to treat his woman this way just because she made her views known.

Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has said that Nigerians see something bad in anything he does.

In his regular #FayoseSpeak series, the governor disclosed that he will be going round the local governments to monitor workers to ensure they resumed at their offices.

“If your salary is N100,000, know fully now that you are collecting N50.000 all because of the economy recession in the country, what you are buying in market is now times three of the initial price.

“Soon there would be free health care across the state because majority couldn’t afford hospital bill due to the current economy recession.

“LG autonomy is a must and there is no going back on it here in Ekiti because the LG must be allowed to function.

“Because of bad state of the country’s economy, a lot of Nigerians can no longer afford medicare. People are now going to spiritualists to seek treatment for their ailments.

“Whatever I do, they will condemn. When I wore T-shirt to the House of Assembly, they said I didn’t dress properly. But when the Facebook founder came to Nigeria, wearing T-shirt and jeans, they hailed him. They said he was humble. Hypocrites, that’s what they are.

“They are worried because what they failed to do, I am doing and they will remain in that state of worries.

“I declare whatever comes to Ekiti from the Federation Account every month and technology has even made it compulsory for leaders to be transparent. If I don’t tell Ekiti people what their monthly income is, they can always get it on the Internet.

“On Ekiti State at 20, I want to thank God specially. When Ekiti was 10, I was the governor, I’m also governor when Ekiti will be 20.

“Ekiti people should come out and x-ray those that have ruled this State and tell the world who impacted most on the state.

“Of all the governors put together, Fayemi got the highest fund. His govt got more money than Adebayo, Oni and my govt put together.

“Most of the landmark projects in Ekiti State were done by me.

“Since 2014 October that I assumed office, we have not had any political killing in Ekiti.”

Barrister Aisha Wakil and two others were recently declared wanted by the Nigerian Army over alleged link with terrorists group, Boko Haram.

Barrister Wakil was nicknamed “Mama Boko Haram” by locals who due to closeness with the members of the Boko Haram sect before they became terrorists.

Few weeks after her release, news broke that she is from the eastern part of Nigeria and was formerly a Christian.

Confirming the report, Barrister Wakil in a exclusive interview with Pulse in Maiduguri, said she became a Muslim due to the behaviour of her husband who described as a very wonderful man.

“What attracted me to embrace Islam is what attracts a fly to perch on a particular place. That is the behavior – my husband. He is a very wonderful man and so I had to follow him and abide by whatever he wants,” she said.

“The belief in the South is that wherever you marry is your home and a woman does not have a religion until she settles somewhere. So, if your husband is a pagan, Muslim or Christian, you have to join him.

“The most important thing is that you are going there to be a good ambassador who will represent your family and the women folk,” she added.

Barrister Wakil also expressed the willingness of the Boko Haram sect to release the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.

During a closed-door meeting with President Buhari and the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Alhaji Maikanti Baru in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu denied media reports of the intended increase in the prices of petroleum products within the country due to media reports that Oil marketers were planning to increase the prices of Petroleum products due to the scarcity of foreign exchange to procure the necessary products needed for their business.

Dr. Kachikwu told state House correspondents and that there was no truth in it asking them if they had seen any memo to that effect.

Alhaji Baru backed up what Kachikwu said by also denying there was any planned increase of petroleum products.

Baru advised the correspondents to contact the Petroleum Product Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPPRA‎) if they needed more information on the issue.

Sabo Habu, one of the army officers fighting Boko Haram in the north-east, has taken to his Facebook account to write down about his servicce in the Nigerian military.

He wrote: “To die for my country is one of my proud, I will never never regret if I die during serving my nation. If the gen will enter the river then who i am? God bless Nigeria Army I am proud to be a family member of Nigeria Army. God bless Nigeria the great nation.”

The brave Nigerian army soldiers fighting Boko Haram and Niger Delta militants faced numerous dangers in their job.

President Muhammadu Buhari, a former military dictator, takes security seriously. He was elected president last year at least in part on the pledge that he would renew security to the north-east, large swathes of which had fallen to the deadly Boko Haram sect.

Buhari’s administration has had some success in pushing back the militants, but it has not managed to suppress the fire.
