Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, is claiming ownership of the $31.4 million involved in an alleged fraud case before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Counsel to the first defendant in charge, with case number FHC/337C/16, Mr. Gboyega Oduwole, informed the court that Mrs. Jonathan filed a fundamental application against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claiming ownership of the money.
The EFCC had taken former presidential aide, Amajuoyi Azubike Briggs, former Skye Bank official, Damola Bolodeoku, Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited to court in an alleged $31.4 million fraud involving the companies without addresses.
Others also charged include Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited, Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited and Globus Integrated Services Limited.
According to an application filed on September 6, this year, with file number FHC/L/C5/1233/16, Mrs. Jonathan is asking the court to make an order for the enforcement of her fundamental rights, in terms of reliefs she sought, and naming as defendants, the EFCC and Skye Bank Plc.
The former first lady asked the court to make a declaration that the fund standing to the credit of four of the companies and an account in her own name in Skye Bank belonged to her.
She also asked the court to declare that the action of the respondents in placing a No Debit/Freezing Order on the said accounts without any order of a competent court of law or prior notice to her, to be in breach of her fundamental rights as contained in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Olajumoke Orisaguna has vanished from social media, and this has gotten a lot of people talking.
Yesterday, top filmmaker, Charles Novia, took to his Facebook page to point out the oddity in the model’s disappearances from media, a fear he had earlier expressed after corporations fought over each other to hype the former bread seller.
“We don’t hear anymore about the Bread Seller turned model, Olajumoke Orisaguna,” Novia said on his Facebook yesterday. “I wrote at the beginning of the media frenzy over her that she was just the flavour of the moment for a public looking for sweet distraction from realities in the polity and that she would be discarded by that same public and media once the curiosities wane. It’s happening now, innit?”
Olajumoke’s story kept social media busy for many months, until she slicked away from public eye. However, in May, the mother of two resurfaced on social media to confirm that she dumped Few Models, the agency that first signed her on after her breaking story stunned the world, for Beth Model Africa.
Also, Olajumoke confirmed she was set to launch her foundation, the “Olajumoke Orisaguna foundation”. This came after she reportedly gave out N200,000 to some 40 breadsellers.
Now, there are worries that the media profited from her story and now has dumped her since the frenzy is over.
Her Instagram page was last updated six weeks ago.
“I thought about her two days ago and even did a social media random check. They no longer update her social media sef!,”

Irineu Cruz and wife Jucicleide Silva have been trying for a little girl for almost 20 years and they’ve only managed to add more boys to the family.
The couple have a brood ranging from one month to 18-years-old – but the couple say they won’t stop trying until a girl arrives.
During Jucicleide Silva’s first pregnancy, the couple agreed that the dad would name the boys and Mum, the girls. But the couple has since christened all 13 boys after famous footballers, all beginning with the letter R.
The family, who live in Concei ao de Coit , Brazil, hoped their thirteenth child would be a game-changer but instead the midwife announced it was yet another boy.
Irineu who is a 40 year old farmer said:
“I’ve always admired players like Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho and Robinho, all the best footballers seemed to have a name beginning with R, so as more and more boys came along, I decided to celebrate South American football by naming my sons after the players I liked.”
The family’s newest addition has been christened Ronaldo after the former Brazil star.

A woman in Lagos State has cried out for help after her gas cylinder was stolen in the compound she shared with others.
The woman who complained bitterly about the hard economic situation narrated how her gas was stolen and begged the thief to return it.
“I’m not even going to buy another one. Let me just be managing like that. The person should come and take the gas cooker too.” she begged.
A Nigerian living in Zimbabwe has been mercilessly beaten by two prostitutes who also stole his money. The man identified as Benjamin Chinedu Nworisa suffered a swollen eye during the encounter.
According to H-metro, two prostitutes identified as Florence Gwatidzo and Barbra Mandema whom he had met at Liz Night Club robbed him of US$3000 in the Avenues Area whilst the accused were on their way to another joint Tipperary’s Night Club located in the same locality.
The case was heard at the Harare magistrates’ court where Florence and Barbra appeared facing robbery charges. The two denied the charges when they appeared before magistrate Vongai Guwuriro.
Implicating them in the matter, the State led by Netsai Chandakaona alleges that last week Benjamin Nworisa went to have some drinks at Liz Night Club. While he was being driven in a cab, the taxi driver asked Benjamin Nworisa if he could allow him to pick Florence and Barbra who wanted to be dropped at Tipperary’s Night Club.
Upon reaching the Tipperary’s the taxi driver reportedly gave one of the two ladies US$10 for her to look for separate monies.
It was at that moment that the prostitutes attacked Nworisa with a brick injuring him in the eye and knocking him out. They searched him and took US$2 800, cell phone and other valuables.
The Nigerian national was picked by a Good Samaritan, Steven Tirivapasi who took him to Harare Central Police Station.
But, luck ran out on one of the prostitutes as he spotted Florence Gwatidzo at the police station where she was also lodging a complaint against him saying he had assaulted her.
She was arrested and later implicated Barbra.

Dragon Lady Eva Tiamat Baphoment Medusa – who likes to referred to as it, like a snake would be – has spent the last 20 years attempting to look more like a reptile.
It believes that it was brought up by Western Diamondback rattlesnakes after it was abandoned by its parents as a young boy.
Tiamat has had several dramatic body modifications over the years, including having its ears cut off, a shaved nose, horn implants, eyebrow dome implants, a forked tongue, fangs and dyed the whites of its eyes green.
It also wants to be covered from head to toe in tattooed scales and body piercings – including in the armpit.
Tiamat did not use a doctor for the cosmetic surgery and instead turned to a body modification artist. She has spent around $60,000 so far (£45k).
The Dragon Lady told Fox 10 : “I was born to my human mother in the Phoenix area, but I was born to my reptilian parents when my mother and stepfather abandoned me to the woods.

On Thursday night, the rapper famous for his hit song Panda, was arrested in New York City following a road rage incident where he allegedly pointed a gun at another driver. TMZ Reports.

Desiigner was arrested Thursday night in NYC in a road rage incident that led to felony drug and weapons charges … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the people in the SUV and the driver of another vehicle began screaming at each other. The driver of the other car called 911 and claimed Desiigner pointed a gun at him. The SUV left but the driver of the car took down the license plate number.
Cops found the SUV a short time later, searched it, and found a large quantity of loose pills in the center console.
Our law enforcement sources say they found Oxycontin and other drugs.
Desiigner and 4 others in the SUV were arrested. All 5 were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of drugs with intent to sell, which are felonies.
Desiigner was also charged with felony criminal possession of a loaded weapon and menacing (that’s for allegedly pointing a gun at the other driver).
All 5 are still in custody.

Actor Frank Artus born to Egyptian dad and Liberian mum has confirmed to Amanda Jissih on Gh One TV that some actresses have bad breath.
The actor on E-Talk entertainment show sharing some of his bad moments on set told the show host that he wished he could act some roles in a much better way than what directors want him to do but he is not allowed.

Lol… they say “Desperate times calls for desperate measures“, this septuagenarian ain’t taking it likely with his wife oh – the 70-year-old man held up a bank in Kansas City and instead of fleeing with $3,000, he surrendered to police.
His wish came true after a judge sentenced him to spend time in prison. Following a fight, Lawrence John Ripple told his wife that he’d “rather be in jail than at home,” court documents showed.
He then walked to a bank in Kansas City, handing a note to a teller demanding cash and stating that he had a gun.
But instead of making a getaway from the Bank of Labor branch with $3,000 in cash, the 70-year-old took a seat in the lobby and told a security guard that he was the suspect.
The guard then called the police, whose station is in the same vicinity with the bank. Ripple later told the officers who took the money from him that he could no longer bear living with his wife.
He was charged in a federal court on Tuesday following the incident on September 2. He is now behind bars after being taken to a federal jail in Leavenworth, Kansas. The money was returned to the bank.
Court documents didn’t explain the cause of Ripple’s fight with his wife.

Head of state, President Muhammed Buhari was in Edo state earlier this week to join the grand finale of APC gubernatorial hopeful Godwin Obaseki’s campaign train, but what many people are not aware of is the drama that allegedly played out shortly before the president’s convoy appeared close to the House of Assembly complex by Airport road Juncture in Benin, Edo state capital.
An eyewitness, Chijioke Anyacho narrates how a disabled woman on a wheel chair attempted suicide when she ambushed the President’s convoy, lamenting her poor living.

Today I witnessed a woman on wheelchair attempt the unimaginable………running into the president’s convoy.
There was heavy military presence in King Square early this morning as president Buhari was coming to join the Grand finale of Godwin Obaseki’s campaign for the September 10th gubernatorial elections in Edo State. Soon they started redirecting vehicles and in a matter of minutes Ring Road was locked down…….no vehicular movement around the Square aside Police patrol vans.
I was beside the state house of assembly by Airport road Juncture, the only side without any military presence……just a hand full of unarmed policemen and civil defense.
Soon two Hilux Jeep with a ROAD CLOSED sign painted on top was coming with speed and the security personels immediately ordered everyone to move to the walk way and not cross the road.
In less than 60 seconds, the president’s convoy starts appearing from the curved corner of Airport road, they were not on the usual neck breaking speed that is the custom of Nigerian political class.
It was slow enough for you to get a good look of every single vehicle in the convoy yet fast enough for you not to be able to catch up with it in a race.
As the convoy gets close to the house of assembly complex, this woman on wheelchair appears from no where and starts wheeling herself right across the road.
The Jeep in front stops immediately……. I was expecting some armed security men to jump out and teach the woman a lesson for daring to ambush the president but they actually stopped for the woman on wheelchair to cross!!
I was dumbfounded.
It is suicidal to attempt crossing the road when a Nigerian politician is passing.
When the jeep stopped for the woman to cross, the woman stopped too…and it those splits seconds the driver of the Jeep seemed indecisive. Angry looking Mopol soon jumped downed from one of the Hilux van and charged toward the Jeep in from (sic) to know why it stopped suddenly, same time a policeman dashed for the woman on the wheelchair and pulled her back.
All these happened in less than 2 minutes.
It was when the woman grabbed the uniform of the policeman by the collar refusing to let go and shouting “una know as i take dey eat…I no dey fit buy food again…Buhari no go pass..make una leave me make i die”
It was then what just happened struck me.
She was held back till the president’s convoy passed.
I don’t know if i should call it desperation or bravery, honestly i don’t know which……….but I think some Nigerians are becoming more daring. The economy is pushing people to the walls.
I am sure the president will never get to hear that a woman on wheelchair attempted suicide on his convoy in Benin city.
It was right in front of me that it happened.
News reaching us at this hour reveals that an unidentified man and 70 rams were killed in a fatal accident along Ibadan expressway. The causes of the accident still remain unknown as at the time of this report.

For seven hours, armed robbers laid a siege to the apartment of a couple in Ikorodu area of Lagos recently. The landlord who is simply called John, was ordered to lie face down for the entire period.
At the end of the ordeal as the hoodlums were about to leave, they found the victim dead, possibly of cardiac arrest.
The suspect, who led the gang, Akin Ayotunde recalled what happened in the seven-hour siege yesterday when he was paraded, yesterday by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni:
On the fateful day, about two weeks now. Ahmed brought information that we would get good money and other valuables from a family. I don’t know the family’s name. We were five who went there.
“We were armed with cutlasses, daggers and iron rods. When we arrived in the house, we scaled through the fence. As we jumped inside the compound,the owner came out and challenged us, but when he saw that we were armed and many, he surrendered himself to us. I told him to cooperate, as we won’t hurt him. We marched him to his sitting room, where we met his wife and children watching home video. The family did not wait for instruction from us as they lay face down.
“We took the children to one of the rooms where we locked them up while we marched the wife to her room and collected some jewellery, three phones and some personal effects. When we got to the parlour where the man was lying, he was snoring abnormally I was wondering what was wrong with a man whose house was under attack and he would be sleeping and snoring.
“I searched his pockets, and I collected N20,000. I don’t know why he should be having that kind of money in his pocket. Well, we collected the wife’s ATM card which one of us used to collect about N60,000 in her account. We came inside the house at about 9 pm, and thought that if we left at about 10pm we may run into the police or vigilance group. We stayed back. We opened the refrigerator, collected some fruits. We ate to our fill.
“The unexpected happened at about 4am as we were about leaving. We packed some items like Plasma television, Laptops, shoes and many other things. We needed the key to his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), We started waking him up, but the man did not respond.. I suspected danger. I checked his pulse, I did not need a doctor to tell me that the man has died of hypertension.
“I called him a coward because we did not harass the family. Why did the man die?Well, we saw the key to the vehicle and we packed the loot and drove off around 4.20am before the wife could discover and raise the alarm.
“I think it was the man’s blood that found me out. I took the car to a dealer, Enyojo. He wanted to sell the car and the buyer knew the owner. They called the police. They set me up. I was told to come for the money at Ojota. When I got there, I was arrested.
“I have begged God for forgiveness. God knows that we did not intend to kill the man.I know he will forgive me, because I am an orphan. I lost my parents at the age of two. I am an Igbo man, but my grandmother, a Yoruba, brought me up. That is why I bear Yoruba name.” he said.
Owoseni said the suspect was helping the police on how to arrest the rest of the gang.
