A man has been arrested after he allegedly doused insecticide in his neighbor’s pot of soup.

Gordon Daniel, a resident of Ajegunle was accused by the neighbour, Mrs. Saidat Shakiru of putting insecticide in a pot of soup she was cooking on Tuesday.

It was gathered the woman had left her soup pot on the fire to attend to another issue only to return and discover that the soup reeked of sniper, a poisonous liquid insecticide.

The woman was said to have accused Daniel who was the only resident of the compound at home when she was cooking.

She was said to have alerted the landlady who resides on the topmost floor of the storey building as well as her husband who was at work before the matter was reported to the Baale of Aiyetoro street, Saheed Fakunle.

According to a resident:

“Sadiat and the suspect were at home when she was cooking the soup. The woman allegedly went outside to buy something and before she came back Daniel had doused sniper into the soup she was cooking.

“When the woman opened the soup pot she perceived an offensive odour from the soup and she sensed foul play. The angry woman drew the attention of the landlady to what she had observed.

“Her landlady asked whom she suspected. Since there was nobody at home, she accused Daniel of the deed. When her husband, Shakiru returned from work, she explained her predicament about the soup she was cooking and the matter was moved to the Baale.

“After carrying out investigation, the Baale handed over the suspect to the police alongside the pot of soup.”

The Nation gathered that the suspect, who blamed his actions on the devil, said he was angry because the woman usually insulted him over electric bill.

“The woman has been insulting me over electricity bill. I don’t know what got over me so I decided to put sniper inside their soup to punish her. I am sorry. I regret what I have done. She insulted me so much because of the electricity bill if not I don’t have any problem with her and her husband,” he said.

The owner of the house, Taiye Aroyewun frowned at the suspect’s action, calling him a madman.

He said:

“The man must be a madman to have attempted to wipe out an entire family. Now that he has been caught, he’s pleading and trying everything possible to settle the matter. Everybody refused because he is a wicked man who committed a wicked act. If I forgive him today, supposing he chops my head off tomorrow what would happen?”

A medical doctor, Hassan Yakubu in an hospital In Adamawa state has been arrested following reports that he was among those who removed the kidney of a 24 year old patient in the hospital.

The patient, Isa Hamma is said to be a life threatening condition as he have been constantly having Lapses since the removal of his kidney.

On the cause of investigation, it was discovered that the doctor, Yakubu Hassan is an uncle to the victim.

Relating what transpired, a relative to the victim, Hamman Seyo recounted what he knows about the pathetic situation of the victim.

He said:

“the victim’s uncle, Yakubu, who treated Isa, at his Jimeta Clinic, for stomach complications, ended up operating the victim on July 8 but allegedly removed his kidney in the process. Three days after the operation, Isa could not urinate.

The complications further degenerated with the face and legs of the victim becoming swollen which prompted the family to return to the doctor who later referred them to the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe. it was at the Gombe hospital that medical officials working with the Federal Medical Center told them that Isa’s kidney had been removed.

Two men who disguised as soldiers to rob and rape women in Oworonshoki and Bariga areas of the state have been arrested.

The Lagos State Police Command made this revelation on Wednesday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed this while briefing newsmen in Lagos, said that the police, acting on complaints by some of the victims, cordoned the area which led to the arrest of the suspects.

According to Badmos, a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) residing in the area reported to the police that she was a victim.

“On Aug. 12, at about 8.00 a.m. the police at Oworonshoki Division received complaints from one 15-year-old girl who lives at Oworonshoki Area that she has been raped.

“She reported that on Thursday at about 10.30 p.m., she was running an errand along Akerele Street, Oworonshoki, when suddenly the suspects, riding on a motorcycle, accosted her.

“She said the suspects forcefully whisked her away on their motorcycle to Bariga by Murtala Bus Stop and raped her till the early hours of Friday, threatening to kill her if she shouted.

“Following the victim’s report, the Anti-Crime Patrol Policemen from Oworonshoki Division quickly mobilised to the address and in a raid arrested two men, 26-year-old Joseph Agbo, and 20-year-old Balogun Damilola.”

She said that the police recovered a pair of army camouflage uniforms, two berets, two mobile phones and four ATM cards from different banks from the suspects.

“Other items recovered from them are army accoutrements and 17 ID cards bearing different names,’’ he said.

Badmos said the suspects confessed to impersonation and other crimes in Oworonshoki and Bariga areas.

He said the suspects had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.

Controversial Nigerian Prophet, Johnson Suleiman of Omega Fire Ministries has said an imminent deadly explosion is set to ravage a town in Cameroon.

Suleiman, who is said to be known for making false prophesy, made the latest one during a televised church service on Sunday, August 14th, at his ministry’s headquarters in Auchi, Edo State, adding that the explosion would lead to several deaths.

“Cameroon, please pray. What I am seeing now…we have to pray for Cameroon so that the country will not cry…I see something exploding with so many people sitting around the place, I see something exploding…so many people will die. Please take note,” Suleiman prophesied.

He however, did not give details of the nature of the explosion such as town/city or date. Instead he urged his members and Cameroonian citizens to pray in order to avert the “impending tragedy”

A 49-year-old businessman, Mr Andrew Ndubisi, on Wednesday prayed an Igando Customary Court in Lagos State to dissolve his marriage to his wife, Saraphina, for allegedly being promiscuous.

The petitioner also said that his wife was secretive, as she had two previous children to two other men before they were married.
Andrew said she failed to bring it to his knowledge.

“My wife had two boys from two men but did not tell me before we married.

“After our marriage, she brought them to live with us and I was paying their school fees.”

“My wife is promiscuous, she dates different men,” Ndubisi told the court.
He also alleged that the wife had an affair with their pastor.

He accused his wife who had a daughter for him in their four-year marriage of adultery.
“My wife is a flirt, she dates different men. I have caught her severally with some of her lovers.

“She is also having an illegal affair with our pastor.

“I got to know when her cell phone rang and she left our room to receive it.

“I trailed her behind without her knowing and l eavesdropped; she ended the call with, ‘I love you’.

“When she returned, I secretly copied the number unknown to her and saved it on my cell phone.

“When I dialled the number on my cell phone, it was our pastor’s name that appeared on its screen.”

He said that Saraphina was too demanding adding that despite the fact that he was always meeting her needs, she was in the habit of stealing his money.

“She once absconded with my daughter to an unknown destination and demanded N30,000 from me before she returned with her.

“I had to send her the money”.

He urged the court to dissolve the marriage, alleging that his wife could infect him with sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV due to her adulterous acts.

Saraphina, 42, also a businesswoman, however, denied all the allegations, saying that instead she had been faithful to her husband.

“I have been faithful to my husband since we got married. I am not dating our pastor, he is just a spiritual father to me,” she said.
She told the court that her husband was hot tempered and was always beating her.

“My husband was always beating me at any slightest provocation; I had suffered injuries in my eyes on three occasions from his beatings.

“He once stripped me Unclad in public and beat the hell out of me.

“There was a day he beat and pushed me down from the staircase and l lost my two-month-old pregnancy.”

She said that her husband also had three children from different women.

It was my husband, Andrew that sent me packing from our matrimonial home after he threatened to kill me.

“I left his house with my daughter then. He later begged me to return which I did and he forcefully snatched my baby from me.

“Up till today, I have not set my eyes on my daughter,” she said.

The president of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the case till Aug. 23 for hearing.

A group of teenage cultists were apprehended yesterday with a local gun, bullets and masks while setting out for an robbery operation at New GRA in Enugu state. They were caught by vigilantes in the area who were tipped off by a security man.

Upon interrogation, they said that they are not cultists but were being chased by cultists hence the need for the gun for protection.

One among them who reportedly sells Indian hemp -said he picked the gun and bullets on the roadside. They were later taken to the police station in the area.
