A Nigerian woman identified as Fausat Abolore, was today arraigned before a court in the United Kingdom for paying a man £1,000 to pose as her newborn baby’s father in order to avoid deportation.
According to Daily Mail, Fausat and her accomplice Anthony Ezekpo were caught when she transferred £1,000 into Ezekpo’s account on the same day he tried to register the child’s birth certificate.
UK police also found out about her fraudulent act through online pictures of the real father Peter Gentry cradling his son at a naming ceremony on September 15, 2014.
Faust Abolore reportedly hired Anthony Ezekpo so she could gain British citizenship, using his name on the baby’s birth certificate and claiming she lived with Ezekpo, providing the UK authorities with a fake address.
Abolore, who gave birth to her son at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich on August 6, 2014, was previously arrested in September last year. The jury was told that Abolore was under Home Office investigation and she had no legal basis to be in the UK. When asked to take a paternity test, Fausat refused.
The police further claimed that Fausat submitted a passport application signed by Ezekpo and countersigned by one Samson Awoyinka who claimed to know Ezekpo for five years from his church congregation.
This, however, turned out to be a lie. Both Abolore and Ezepko also deny one count of giving false information when registering a birth and Abolore alone denies seeking leave to remain in the UK by deception.
Fausat has since had a second child with her partner Peter Gentry while her trial continues.

Five suspects, who claimed to be businessmen, have reportedly been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly abducting and gang-raping a woman.
According to PUNCH Metro, the suspects – Ugochukwu Eso, Gabriel Obinna, Chinedu Ezechukwu, Akubueze Nnadozie and Godwin Balogun – used a hotel, which the police did not disclose, in the Agege area of the state.
It was gathered that 18-year-old Obinna allegedly used a Magic Voice application on his mobile phone to change his voice to that of a woman while communicating with the victim on the telephone.
Using a pseudonym, Vanessa, he allegedly invited her to inspect some non-existent goods in his house.
A police source said the gang’s mode of operation was to lure female customers into their midst, gang-rape them and threaten to blackmail the women with video recordings of the rape unless some money was paid to them.
In the latest incident on Tuesday, August 2, the gang members allegedly lured their female victim through telephone calls to their apartment, which was a hotel, before gang-raping her.
The suspects reportedly demanded N2m to release her, but she later parted with N50,000.
It was gathered by the publication that the victim reported the matter at the Isokoko Police Division and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Alausa, after leaving the hotel. The suspects were, thereafter, trailed to the hotel and arrested.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro while being paraded at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, on Wednesday, Eso said his gang collected N20,000 from the lady and she willingly had sex with him and Obinna.
He said:
“The lady came into the hotel to meet another woman. When she saw us, she became nervous. We calmed her down and told her we were just looking for money to eat and she should give us whatever she had.
“She gave us N20,000 and we began to talk freely in the room. She used some drugs and willingly had sexual affair with me and Gabriel (Obinna). After the sex, we accompanied her to the taxi and we parted amicably. It was not a rape.”
Obinna said:
“The lady and I had been discussing on the phone; we were friends. I have a Magic Voice application on my phone which I used to discuss with her. We did not rape her. She did not make any noise during the sex; she was just smiling. We were the ones who put her on a bus. Only two of us slept with her.”
The DSVRT Coordinator, Lola-Vivour Adeniyi, said:
“One of the suspects, named Vanessa, chatted with the victim on Instagram. She claimed that she was a graduate and she sold clothes. According to the victim, the fake businesswoman called her from time to time to discuss business with her.
“On the day of the incident, the victim came from Oshodi to the address Vanessa gave her in Agege. As she climbed into the house, reportedly owned by Vanessa, three men pushed her into a room and increased the volume of the television so that no one would hear her voice.
“After the rape, the suspects said she should provide N2m before she would be released. She called some friends and was able to raise N50,000, which they withdrew from her bank account using the ATM. She was held hostage from 12pm to 7pm.
“The DSVRT has directed her to the Mirabel Centre, Ikeja, for a checkup. We worked with the police to ensure the arrest of the suspects and the victim has identified three of them.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the gang, said the police would charge them to court at the end of investigation.
According to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), over 801 residents have been left stranded following a terrible storm in Zamfara state.
Executive secretary of SEMA in Zamafara, Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed, made the disclosure on Wednesday, August 10. The flood reportedly struck Maru town in Zamfara.
In a telephone interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Muhammad said the affected persons included 180 women and 621 children.
He said 52 houses and farmlands were also destroyed during the disaster which occurred on July 29. The executive secretary also said that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and its counterpart in the state had visited the town.
“NEMA and SEMA have visited the affected town and conducted a joint assessment of the disaster. We will forward such assessment to our respective agencies for immediate assistance.’’
Muhammad called on residents of the state to avoid blocking drainages or constructing structures on water ways to avoid similar disasters.
The Nigeria Metrological Agency had recently warned people along major rivers in parts of the country to vacate their houses to prevent loss of lives and property due to anticipated flooding the rivers.
Similarly, NEMA had alerted Nigerians of possible flood in some of the states in the north and urged people and relevant authorities to prepare for emergency.
In a related development, no fewer than 29 cows were on Tuesday swept away by a downpour in the Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau state.
The flooding also destroyed farmlands and swept away bridges linking the area to other parts of the state. Member representing Jos East Constituency in the Plateau state House of Assembly, Mr Joshua Madaki, told reporters on Wednesday that the heavy rain, which lasted several hours, also disconnected the council secretariat from the people, forcing residents to go through the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi state before they could reach the council headquarters.
Madaki solicited the intervention of the state government and public-spirited individuals to rescue the affected communities by providing relief materials and reconstructing the damaged bridges to enable the farmers move their produce to the markets.
He said:
“The flood did not spare anything on its way as it carried away more than 29 cows. Apart from this, the main roads connecting Fobur-Federe-Angwari at Keven are badly washed away by the flood, including crops such as rice, yam and millet.” “With the total collapse of roads, no heavy truck can pass through the area,” Madaki buttressed.
Meanwhile, Disaster has hit Kano state as flood destroyed over 5,300 houses in six local government areas of the state. According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the executive secretary of the State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Bahsir disclosed this in an interview in Kano on Monday, August 8th. Bashir also said that the affected local government areas were: Bebeji, Dawakin Kudu, Kiru, Shanono, Bagwai and Garun-Malam.
Speaking on those affected, he said:
“In Dawakin Kudu alone, more than 2,300 houses were affected, while more than 600 houses in each of the remaining five areas were destroyed by the flood.”
When asked about the response of officials to the tragedy, Bashir said that the officials of the agency had visited all the affected areas with a view to assessing the damage cause by the disaster.

The mother and son, whose forbidden love affair could land them lengthy jail terms, have declared they are madly in love and nothing will tear them apart.
They have vowed to fight for their right to have a sexual relationship and are appealing to the public to help donate to their legal fund and support them.
Mother-of-nine Monica was just 16 when she gave birth to her son and reconnected with him over Facebook before arranging to meet up last Christmas.
The 36-year-old said it was almost love at first sight for them when they met. They soon began a sexual relationship and Caleb moved in with his mum and her two youngster children – his own half siblings.
In an interview with Daily Mail Online, the couple told how they are willing to risk everything to be together and have decided to go public with their affair in a bid to raise awareness of Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) relationships.
There relationship came to light when they were reported to the police and charged with incest, a fourth-degree felony in New Mexico where they both reside.

After its investigations into the alleged intention to defraud Nigerians by Mayowa’s Ahmed’s family, the Lagos State Police Command, today ascertained that there was no Fraud involved.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed this today, said the command therefore had to remove the embargo placed on the accounts, where the sum of N81million and 100,000 dollars, were raised by public spirited Nigerians, home and abroad.
He said according to their findings, the controversy was caused by misunderstandings over the modalities for dispensing and controlling the money between the Ahmed family, the Nollywood actress, Toyin Aihmaku and Life Stake Foundation.
He also added that the trio had raised the money with genuine intent, adding that barring any unforeseen circumstance, Mayowa should be flown out of the country for treatment.

It has been confirmed that the Spiritual leader of the Celestial Church of Christ, Paul Suru Maforikan (Baba Maforikan) has died after a protracted illness at 10:30 pm on Tuesday 9th August 2016, at the age of 86.
Prophet Suru became the spiritual father of the church after Gilbert Oluwatosin Jesse (who was the spiritual head at the time) died in October 2003.
This was announced by Akossou Severin of the CIRCUIT HEAD at Celestial Ado-Ekiti 3, Ekiti State.
Maforikan was born on 19 September 1930 in Ajase, Benin, where his father had moved from Badagry. He was a member of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) before joining the Celestial Church Of Christ in 1948, shortly after its foundation. He followed the Pastor Founder S.B.J. Oschoffa to Nigeria.
He was an Oyo State Evangelist for 10 years before being appointed a Deputy Pastor in December 2002. He was proclaimed Pastor of the Celestial Church Of Christ Worldwide within two days of the death Gilbert Jesse in 2003.

A Nigerian man has been reportedly arrested and detained at the Muscat International Airport, Oman after he allegedly tried to smuggle 217 bank cards.
Oman is an Arab country in the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.

Okorom Nhabu Favor, 36, Izuchukwu Chuwuma, 40, Nnamezie Victor, 30, Simon Maduka Ukadu, 45, Sunday Nwabusi, 31, Okorom Kizito Chimedu, 35, Francis Nnamedi, 30, Tony Mmaduka Chuwuonye, 34, and his girlfriend, Cambodian Morn Vinyung, 31 who were reportedly dealing drugs from a Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries branch had their charges of drug trafficking upheld yesterday on the final day of their trial, and the judge will release his verdict on September 12.
Despite an admission of guilt from Ms. Vinyung, Mr. Chuwuonye’s girlfriend at the time of their arrest, all eight men denied the charges against them, saying they were Christian missionaries who came to Phnom Penh to open a church.
Captain Proeung Pheap, deputy chief of the Anti-Drug Unit at the 9th Intervention Police Office in the Ministry of Interior’s anti-drug department, said the group was using their Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries church as a front for a drug ring, hiding their identities and trafficking under the guise of missionary work.
He claimed police discovered the illegal operation after Ms. Vinyung delivered drugs to undercover officers three separate times at the Sovanna supermarket in Chamkarmon district in January 2015, Cambodia’s news website, KHMER Times reports.
“Among these nine accused people, Morn Vinyung and Francis Nnamedi were arrested after they brought a package of drugs for sale to our undercover officer,” he said. “The other accused people were later arrested based on the answers of Morn Vinyung and Francis Nnamedi.” The other seven men were arrested when police raided three rented homes in Chamkarmon district’s Boeung Tumpon commune in Phnom Penh on January 8 and 9 in 2015.
Police said they had been watching the group for a long time and alleged that their ringleader, Obieze Kenneth Uche, was still on the run.
During the trial, Ms. Vinyung said she had been dating Mr. Chuwuonye, also known as Tony, for three months before their arrest. She told the court that her boyfriend paid her $100 to take a package to an unidentified man three separate times.
“I admit that I really did bring the package from Tony and gave it to his clients at the Sovanna supermarket, but I did not know that the packages were drugs,” she told the court. “If I had known that the packages were drugs, I would not have agreed to bring them, even though Tony offered to pay me money.”
The eight Nigerian nationals vehemently denied the allegations, saying they were Christians, not drug dealers.
Mr. Chuwuonye acknowledged that he had dated Ms. Vinyung, but said he never asked her to take drugs anywhere.
“I was not a drug trafficker. I am a Christian missionary. I did not do any of the things I am accused of,” he said.
Mr. Victor, the leader of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries church in Phnom Penh, said he volunteered to come to Cambodia from Nigeria as a Christian missionary in 2014 and has run the church in Chamkarmon district since then.
“Police arrested me while I was praying at my own home. They handcuffed me and called me a drug dealer,” he said. “But I don’t know anything about this case or about any drugs. I am the victim of accusations and arrest by the police.”
He claimed police forced him to confess during an interrogation session.
Mr. Chimedu, Mr. Victor’s brother and an assistant at his church, said he had nothing to do with drug dealing but was arrested when police raided his home in Boeung Tumpon commune on January 8. Police found no drugs or paraphernalia at his home during their raid, he said.
“I was a church assistant, and my job was to prepare bibles and prayer ceremonies for foreigners every weekend,” he said. “I have never smoked or used drugs in my life. I’ve never even seen drugs.”

Quinn’s grandma kept asking her if she was sure she wanted an old woman to be on her train.

“She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day,” Quinn told Huffpost.
“Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of ‘going home to rest’ but did not tell my mom (her daughter).

A fire has ripped through a maternity ward at a hospital in Iraq, killing 12 newborn babies.
The country’s health ministry says the blaze broke out overnight inside the maternity department at the Yarmouk hospital, in the west of the city.
Nineteen women suffered burns and smoke inhalation and were transferred to another hospital for treatment.
The ministry said the fire was probably caused by an electrical fault. No other details were immediately available.
Electrical fires are common in Iraq because of shoddy maintenance and poor wiring. A lack of fire escapes also contributes to the danger whenever a fire breaks out. There is also widespread failure by construction companies and those providing building material to follow accepted standards.

A shocking photograph has surfaced online of a young boy tied to a tree like a goat in China by his family for being too naughty.
People’s Daily Online report that the four-year-old identified by his surname Zhong, was recently spotted by passersby in the Yongchuan district of Chongqing.
The child, who is is looked after by his ageing aunt and uncle while his father works in another town to earn cash to pay off heavy debts.
In January 2015, the child’s mother died from Meningitis. The uncle and aunt who are in their 60s say that they are not able to care for the boy as he is too naughty.
A while ago, the boy disappeared and it took a team of locals hours to find him.
A picture appeared on Chinese media shows the boy playing in a spare concrete mixer, which his family say is incredibly dangerous.
Terrified that they would lose him again, the couple decided to take drastic action, tying him to a tree using rope.
Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Lagos state in the 2015 election, Mr Jimi Agbaje has vowed that he will lead the party back to winning ways if elected chairman of the party at the Port Harcourt Convention.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after he picked the nomination forms for the chairmanship position of the party in Abuja, Mr Agbaje said as a candidate who does not belong to any of the factions in the party, he stands a better chance to unite all the contending forces in the party.

“what I bring to the table is that I am not a member of any faction or any tendencies. I am in a position to talk to everybody, to ensure that if you love the PDP, then it is time to come back to the zone.
I will appeal to those who feel very strongly to join us because Nigeria cannot make the progress it deserves without a viable opposition and that PDP is going to provide that opposition as an alternative government and in a responsible manner.
Minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, says the country at this point, has no choice but to borrow to invest in the Nigerian economy.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Abuja, she said the federal government is very conscious and conservative about its borrowing, so as not to leave a heavy debt burden for future generations.
She’s quoted as saying:
“We have a very conservative borrowing programme, and we must borrow; because to do rail — the rail that we have now was done in the colonial era — there has been really significant upgrade,” she said.
“We have urgently to do rail to enable agriculture and solid minerals to be competitive, so I really don’t see that there is any option than to borrow.
“We will borrow sustainably; we would borrow conservatively to make sure that we don’t burden future generation.”
Adeosun however stated that the government would be different in its approach to borrowing this time,and would not borrow to fund recurrent expenditure. Rather, it will be to fund infrastructural development.
“The difference is, we’ve been borrowing in the past to pay salaries; now we borrow to invest,” she said.
“When you borrow to invest, there is an expectation that there will be additional revenue that will service those borrowings.
“I think that is the clear difference. I don’t think people should be unduly concerned about borrowing; we have to borrow, we have no choice but we will borrow as strictly as possible.
“This is why we have approached the World Bank and export credit organisations that provide concessional loans. We are taking concessional loans before going for commercial loans.”
She said the size of the public sector is an evidence of the failure to develop the private sector, adding that the latter should be the major employer in the country.
Adeosun said investments must be made in infrastructure to create an environment for the growth of the private sector.

The sea creature, whose habitat is in a tank at SeaWorld Orlando in Florida, can be seen leaping up out of its pool and grabbing the tablet in its mouth.
Viral photos show how within a split second, it dragged the device back into the water, and the iPad is almost fully submerged before she can rescue it from the pool.
