The candle light procession for late Nigerian music producer and singer, OJB Jezreel held this evening at his residence in Surulere, Lagos.
If he was alive, today July 4, 2016 would have been the day for his 50th birthday celebration. The candle light procession started from his house, down to Bode Thomas Street, the Stadium area of Surulere and ended with prayers back at the house.

After a grueling endless hours of sets, dancing, coverage, support, and social media dissemination, DJ Obi finally pulled through the mark set by Polish DJ, Norberto Loco’s 200-hour record.
At 1:28pm on Saturday, July 2, 2016, Nigeria’s DJ Obi set the new world record for Longest Marathon Club DJing previously set at 200 hours. His new record stands at 229 hours and 58 minutes of straight DJing.
What’s next for DJ Obi? Where does he go from here?
1. Rest
First, he has to rest. DJ Obi has put his body under intense stress and pressure, depriving himself of sleep for hours on end, standing on his feet countless time, and regulating his food and fluid intake.
All of these has taken its toll on the man. There were reports of mood swings, hallucinations and many more by day 5.
And he stopped short of his 240-hour target due to medical advisement. Simply put, he could go no farther without further entering the red zone, and imperiling his health more.
What he needs now is a nice long sleep, rest, food, and water. All of these would be under close supervision by a medical practitioner, who would ensure that he returns to full fitness.
2. Confirmation of Success
Guinness World Records would have to confirm his work, before bestowing the title upon him. Guinness World Records has an expertly trained Records Management Team who undertake substantial research and verification checks to confirm whether a new record title has been achieved.
When DJ Obi submitted his application for a new record title, Records Category Specialists carefully assessed it to confirm whether or not his proposal could be accepted, he scaled that, and that enabled him start the challenge.
Since he was applying for an existing title, he received guidelines to attempt the record; it is important that he read these and the evidence check list pack carefully, and document all requested evidence.
This was carried out, so the Guinness World Records team can assess all evidence provided and verify whether his attempt has been successful.
After achieving the feat, He will have to submit his evidence for a new or existing title, in this case, the video recording of his set.
The Records Management Team will run comprehensive checks on this evidence to confirm whether it is sufficient enough to demonstrate that you have achieved the record title in question.
Once that is out of the way, he will be announced, and sent a complimentary record holder certificate via the post.
3. Payment
Would he be payed? No. As the world’s unrivalled authority on record-breaking achievement, Guiness World Records celebrate the world’s best, to inspire ordinary people and to entertain and inform.
For these reasons, they do not pay record-breakers for their achievements or for carrying out a record title attempt. They are also unable to cover any expenses, offer sponsorship or provide equipment for anyone attempting a record.
In addition, they are unable to make contributions to individuals, charities or businesses. This is to maintain their unbiased stance as the world’s global record breaking authority and to ensure that they are truly inclusive of all applicants.
What Else
After the period of rest and confirmation which may take a long time, DJ Obi will start off his press rounds, during the early part to properly educate, share his story, and inspire more people to follow similar route. This might take up to a month, as he appears on every platform worth their salt.
For his personal fortunes, the PR already gotten from the attempt has made him increasingly popular, and driven his value up. DJ Obi’s fees and performance prices are expected to change, with the additional amounts reflecting his new status as a Guinness World Records holder.
When you book him for a show, promoters have to also consider the extra attention it brings to their gigs, and so, they have to bump his pay.

A woman, Christy Sheats, fatally shot two of her daughters to death in an ugly incident which was apparently the result of a family dispute that spilled out from their home and onto the street in Fulshear, Texas, on Friday.
The 42-year-old woman called a family meeting in the living room of the family home in Katy on Friday afternoon and then shot her daughters Taylor Sheats, 22, and Madison Sheats, 17.
Although her husband, Jason Sheats, was at home at the time of the shooting, he was lucky to have escaped death as he ran to the neighbor’s house for help.
When the Texas police arrived the scene at about 5 p.m, Christy Sheats was found standing in the street near the bodies of her children.
The mother was eventually killed by a responding police officer after she refused to put down the gun she used to murder two of her own daughters. According to The Daily Mail reports, Troy Nehls, a Fort Bend County Sheriff, said:
“Christy was still holding a pistol, and a Fulshear police officer was forced to shoot her after she refused to put it down.
“It is unclear whether Christy was pointing the gun at the responding police officer or at one of her daughters.”
Madison was pronounced dead at the scene, and Taylor died from her injuries at the hospital a short time later.
Jason Sheats told investigators that he assumed his wife was gathering their daughters to tell them they were divorcing. Instead, she pointed a gun at them, shooting them multiple times — but she didn’t fire at him. The woman revealed that the aim of her senseless murder was to punish her husband.
Speaking to reporters in a conference on Wednesday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff, Troy Nehls said:
“We asked Mr. Sheats for a motive in his own words. He stated that he felt Christy wanted him to suffer.
“Mr. Sheats stated that Christy knew how much he loved Taylor and Madison and how much they loved him. By killing his children, Mr. Sheats will have to live the rest of his life with this horrible memory.”
A friend of the family, Madison Davey, disclosed that the shooting had been an escalated version of the couples frequent fights. He told KTRK-TV that the fight between the couple had turned deadly during Jason’s birthday on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the family suburban home and in the heat of their argument:
“He told Christy, ‘Just shoot yourself. Make it easy on all of us, just shoot yourself,’ and she said, ‘No, that’s not what this is about, this is about punishing you.
“I always knew something would happen. I never thought she would do this. Christy was toxic for the family. She was mentally unstable.”
“He ( Jason) would do anything to protect them and he tried to, but Christy was out to kill that day.”
Reports revealed that Christy Sheats had a history of depression and heavy drinking. Her marriage had been in a “downward spiral” since 2012 and although the couple had been married for more than 20 years, they had been separated several times, she was on the brink of divorcing her husband before the incident.
Christy had also been admitted to a private mental health facility on three separate occasions for attempted suicide and at the time of the shooting, she was unemployed.
Hundred of street traders were on Monday arrested in different parts of Lagos metropolis by men of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), for hawking on the streets.
The State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, had last week Friday announced the enforcement of law banning street trading and hawking.
Ambode, who was speaking on a live TV interview, warned that the law stipulate six months jail term or N90,000 fine for offenders.
The governor said that the renewed enforcement is in line with Section One of the Lagos State Street Trading and Illegal Market Prohibition Law 2003 which restricts street trading and hawking in the metropolis.
Our reporter who went round the metropolis to monitor the enforcement reported that men of the KAI were picking up streets hawkers’ for allegedly violating the law.
The traders were picked up in areas like Mariland, Oshodi, Ikeja, Ojota among other areas in the metropolis.
At the Ikeja railway line, our reporter observed as a woman was led into a waiting van.
Also at the Alausa office of KAI, our reporter saw many street traders who were arrested by men of the organization.
It would be recalled that riot broke out last week in Maryland following the killing of a hawker by an articulated vehicle.
Following the killing some buses under the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) scheme belonging to the state government were allegedly destroyed by hoodlums, who thought one of the buses killed the hawker.
According to the governor, 49 buses which worth N139 million, were destroyed by the hoodlums.

This time, the controversial leader of the End Times Disciples Ministries, in his most recent weird spiritual antics commanded one of his church members to climb up a pole during prayers.

Unconfirmed reports have it that Zenith Bank Plc has meted out punishment to one bank official, who was pictured on his knees at Ayo Fayose’s residence in Abuja pleading with with the governor over the funding of the 2014 gubernatorial election in Ekiti.
Zenith Bank Plc staff, Bunmi Falana aka Bumshaka, has been reportedly demoted to a mere marketer by the leadership of the bank over his culpability in the unpopular saga with the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose over allegations of illicit funding.
According to rumours, Falana has also been told to resume work at a branch in Agbara Lagos immediately.
This happened after he was caught on camera kneeling down to beg Fayose to help conceal his role in the issuance and management of illicit funds that has attracted the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who have currently frozen the Governor’s personal bank accounts.
Other reports have described Falana as a close associate of the vocal People’s Democratic Party cheiftain who is said to have facilitated his employment in the bank as well as his undeserved rapid promotion.
Zenith bank is yet to issue an official statement to clear the air on the claims that the corporate body solely funded the election of Fayose which is against the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act.

I was heart broken this morning
As I drove to work and saw a pregnant woman with a little boy struggling with a big bag and her big tummy so I decided to help.
I parked and gave them a lift, not minding I was late for work .
We spoke in the car and she told me the story of her life, how she had to borrow money to go to her work place where she sells roasted corn and pear everyday.
She was abandoned by her family and the man who owns the kids.
I had pity for her and decided to give her some money, so I stopped by an ATM to withdraw cash, since we now go cashless.
I left my ignitions on and the ac on for her, so she can be comfortable.just picked up one of my phones and my ATM card , dashed out to withdraw.
When I was back I gave her the money and did not bother looking for anything , I just dropped my card and phone and drove her to the junction she said was close to her.
As I got to the office and was about to dash the gate men money, I brought out my wallet and noticed that the 3k I had inside was gone, I scattered my bag, no way.
So I started looking for my other phone, dialled the number and it was switched off.
I sat in my car and started crying, not because of what she took but because she broke my heart into pieces and have tampered with my trust to giving.
I cleaned my tears and drove to my office.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken over Skye Bank of Nigeria, believed to be one of those distressed in the country, reports have indicated.
This action has prompted Mr Timothy Oguntayo, the managing director, and other top management of the bank including all non-executive directors, to resign ahead of a perceived mass purging by the apex bank.
The resignation of the management at Skye Bank was a pre-emptive action by the bank to avoid a total clampdown by the CBN as it plans to remove directors in banks with bad debts in the next few days. Inside sources claim Skye bank has over N700 billion in bad loans.
The CBN hammer hit the bank about a week after the top financial regulator threatened to sack the chief executive officer and chairman of any bank that fails to publish its financial statement within the regulatory period.

Former Minister of Aviation and senator (PDP – Anambra North), Stella Oduah, on Monday denied claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was investigating her for allegedly stashing nearly N2.5 billion in a bank account she set up using the identity of her maid.
Ms. Oduah, who said she received the reports while relaxing in her country home in Anambra State, challenged those who published the allegations to publish proofs that substantiate her guilt.
Ms. Oduah said the reports were “totally false, baseless and at best the imagination of the platform.”
In the statement, signed by Francisca Onyeisi, head of communications, Ms. Oduah said:
“Over the past few months, the once respected online platform, Sahara Reporters has continued to surpass itself by continuously sinking to an all-time low of posting uncorroborated reports to mislead Nigerians to promote the agenda of certain elements who’s fight against corruption can only been seen on pages of newspaper and pockets of their media spinners while millions of Nigerians remain unemployed and hundreds of thousands of kids go to bed hungry day in day out.
“The online platform claimed their sources in the EFCC said a whopping N5.6 billion must have been stolen, then went further to contradict itself that the agency had determined it was N3.6 billion then again reduced it to N2.5 billion in the same publication. The distinguish Senator laments the despicable low that Sahara Reporters has drawn the reputable profession of journalism too which unfortunately unsuspecting platforms will copy and paste on theirs without even lifting a pen to confirm the story”.
“Senator Stella Oduah, who is currently in her constituency thanked her supporters and well-wishers who have reached out to vent their frustrations at the unethical behavior of the tabloid assured (sic) them that there is nothing to worry about, restating that no such account exist and challenged Sahara reporters to present details of their funding and how the platform is able to afford a property in choice area of Maitama in Abuja”, the statement concluded.
