This Man Wants To Ban Social Media In Ghana

Ghanaian Government has been advised to consider the possibility of blocking social media sites during the November elections.

A security analyst, Irbard Ibrahim who made this suggestion in an interview on Radio Ghana explained that Ghana must do something “extraordinary to safeguard the results of our elections in November.”

Although he admitted that a total social media blackout during the period may not be too helpful to the discourse, he maintained that “it’s an avenue that can be looked at.”

Ghanaians will on November 7 elect new Members of Parliament (MPs) as well as a new President. This year’s election has been tipped to be one of the most keenly contested elections in the country’s history and calls for peace before, during and after the polls have already begun.

According to Mr. Ibrahim however, for peace to prevail and for people to trust the election results,

“government can look at a complete blackout or get a much more proactive social media portals so that you will be able to pre-empt all these things by giving out the right information.”

Mr. Ibrahim further recommended that the Electoral Commission should consider being very active on social media prior to the elections to help establish in the minds of Ghanaians that they are the go to source for any election related issue.

He said the EC can take a cue from Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which took similar steps during their elections last year.

“We can do what Nigeria did; what INEC did – the Independent National Electoral Commission in Nigeria so that we will become more proactive than individual users and saboteurs that are on Facebook and Twitter so that you educate the whole nation as to where they can get authentic results rather than people giving results of various constituencies they’ve not been to or talking about violent activities when there is no iota of truth in it,” he said.

Tyga who was seated next to Scott Disick was asked to specify which he would go for:

Recall few days ago, Blackface came for singer 2face Idibia accusing the singer of intellectual theft few days after slugging it out with Wizkid.

In a chat with Channel TV’s, 2face reacted to Blackface allegations.

‘My brother it’s just so unfortunate. I don’t know where it is coming from. I’m trying to think of different reasons. I thought maybe his account was hacked or something. Reports had it yesterday that Rob Kardashian Has Been Living with Blac Chyna for about five days…But right now, according to new reports, Rob didn’t leave Khloe’s House to live with Blac Chyna, he was thrown out by his sister – Khloe after she found out he was seeing Chyna and actually met Blac Chyna in her home.

We’re told it all went down last week, when Khloe returned home early from a trip promoting her new show. She walked into the kitchen and found Rob and Chyna standing there. There were liquor bottles and trash strewn about, and it appeared the 2 had been there for days.

Our sources say Khloe became enraged and asked Chyna, “What the f*** are you doing in my house?” The 2 bolted into Rob’s wing and locked the door … Khloe followed suit and told them both to “get the hell out.” Khloe made it clear to Rob, he was no longer welcome in her home.

We’re told Khloe’s view was that she was exercising tough love on Rob, because she felt he was falling off the wagon and Chyna was preying on him.

Our sources say Rob’s family was especially indignant when she learned Rob had purchased some expensive items for Chyna, and he doesn’t have a lot of money to burn.

Young Lady Dies of Lassa Fever in Lagos

A 27 year old lady died from Lassa fever in Lagos on Tuesday January 26th. ‎Confirming her death, the Lagos state Commissioner for Health, Jide Idris, said the lady died of the disease at the Ijede General Hospital.

She is said to have traveled to Lagos from Edo state on January 2nd and had been down with a fever.

“The lady had received care in one private hospital and three churches before she was referred to Ijede General Hospital with fever.

She died few hours of admission. We confirmed that she died of Lassa fever on Tuesday. The remains of the patient have been kept in the morgue in leak proof body bag.

She is to be buried after due consultation with her family. So far, Lagos State has recorded 20 suspected cases of Lassa fever since the outbreak of the disease. As of now, 14 suspected cases tested negative, while four cases were confirmed positive of Lassa fever.

The results of two suspected cases are pending. The ministry has listed 537 contacts of the confirmed cases and 534 of the contacts are currently being monitored.”‎he said

This will be the second Lassa fever death in Lagos. A 51 year old man who also traveled to Lagos from Edo state died of the disease last week.

Expectant Mother Suffers Womb Rupture In Lagos Police Cell. (Photo)

An expectant mother, one Mrs Tosin Taiwo, is battling to save her unborn baby after allegedly suffering a womb rupture following her collapse in police custody on Tuesday.

Mrs Taiwo who claimed to have bled for two days in police cell, said she was rushed to Randle General Hospital in Surulere, where it took doctors two hours to revive her.

She said she spent four days in detention at Surulere Police Station and was denied bail by the Investigating Police Officer (IPO). Mrs Louisa Njoku, who claimed to be acting on “orders from above”.

Mrs Taiwo, who is in hospital at Agbado Ijaiye, a Lagos suburb, said she was arrested last Saturday at Meiran Market over the N4.2million she is owing Ajibola Abudu, a businessman.

The woman, who is eight-weeks pregnant, said her scan result shows there is a rupture in her womb. She told The Nation yesterday that she suffered breath seizure in detention.

Mrs Taiwo said:

“I was locked up for four days without bail. I bled on Saturday and Sunday, I also told the policemen that I was not feeling well but nothing was done. I was taken to Randle General Hospital but I left there on Tuesday evening. I am now at a family hospital in my area where I have done scan and they said there is a rupture somewhere in my womb.

“It must have been caused by my inability to breathe while inside the cell. I could not cope there, I suffered breath seizure. The toilet was dirty and the stench in the cell was unbearable. It was choking. There was even no water to bath or anything. The experience was horrible.”

She said she borrowed money from the complainant to do business last May but was duped, adding that he rebuffed all her entreaties for a payment plan. Abudu, she claimed, insisted that she should pay the money once.

Her husband Olusola Taiwo said the IPO disobeyed the order of Area C Commander Tajudeen Bakare, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), to release her.

He said:

“She refused to release and did not charge her to court. I told the IPO that my wife was not feeling well but she refused to listen.

“The IPO said she will not grant her bail due to instruction from above. I believe the complainant gave the instruction. That is why he brought the case to Surulere Police Station where he knows officers.

“One of the officers, who arrested her at Meiran, boasted that she would rot in jail.

“He brought police to arrest her on Saturday and detained her at Surulere Police Station. All efforts to secure her bail proved abortive as the IPO told us there was instruction from above not to grant her bail.”

Taiwo said after he failed to secure his wife’s bail on Sunday and Monday, he went to see Bakare, who called the parties and pleaded with Abudu to accept the payment plan.

“But the complainant refused insisting on complete payment, otherwise, my wife should be charged to court. When the Area Commander saw that he was not cooperating, he ordered the IPO to release my wife since the case was a civil matter, but his directive was not followed by the IPO who restated there was an ‘order from above’ to detain her.

“Because of our insistence, the IPO said she would be charged to court on Tuesday morning. We went to the station early in the morning and waited for that to happen. It was in the course of waiting that my wife fainted.

“We rushed her to Randle General Hospital with the IPO in the vehicle and it took about two hours before she was revived. I was called to come to the station and sign for her bail while she was still at the hospital,” he said.

Last night, Kanye West in a series of tweets went hard on Wiz Khalifa after he thought Wiz referred to his wife Kim Kardashian when he tweeted this: “Hit This KK and Become yourself”..The tweet came after Wiz and Kanye went head to head on each other earlier yesterday morning.

Apparently, it got incrdibly messy yesterday as Kanye dissed not only Wiz’s career, but also Amber Rose and her son Sebastian.

All through Kanye’s series of tweets, Khalifa didn’t respond other than to clarify that his ‘KK’ comment was actually about marijuana. “I’m not gonna troll that man,” he told a fan after they tried to get him to reply Kanye.

But when everyone thought the dust had settled, Amber Rose waded in and delivered what has since been described as the ‘mighty KO’.

“Aww Kanye West, are you mad I’m not around to play in your asshole anymore?” Amber Rose tweeted. Her response has been shared over 239,904 times with over 264,000 likes.

The Internet erupted with memes and Kanye West deleted his previous tweets, but the mother of one didn’t let that fly past her. “Lol,” she mocked him, “Now you wanna delete your tweet cus Muva has arrived?”

Supermodel Tyra Banks welcomed her first child with boyfriend, Norwegian photographer Erik Asla.

Her son’s name is York Banks Asla, via a surrogate. She posted the announcement on her Instagram page. She put a photo of baby’s hat and wrote:

Beautiful Doyin Sarah Fagbenro, 25 was killed in a hit and run accident in Lagos. Her funeral was held at All Nations Church in Bedford on Saturday, January 23.

Mourners wore red, her favourite colour. Her heartbroken mother Dupe, a hospital pharmacist, told the Standard:

“She was beautiful, intelligent, adventurous and caring. She was absolutely everything to us. She had a very bright future but it has ended in this tragedy.”
The straight-A student, the eldest of four siblings, grew up in Canning Town and graduated in law from Queen Mary’s University in east London in 2013.

In a moving tribute written by her family she was described as having an “adventurous nature and fierce independence”

Iconic Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has been accused of allegedly having a daughter, Zara, with a Nigerian woman called Adaeze McArthur.

This news which was first published by Instablog9ja says that the singer has never met Zara who allegedly was born around the same time Kuti’s girlfriend, Yetunde Ademiluyi, delivered their daughter, Adara.

This claim came to light after an anonymous Instagram user confronted Adaeze to confirm the paternity of her daughter, and though Adaeze didn’t know the identity of the person she was chatting with, she said Seun Kuti is Zara’s father and also added that he has never met her.

Daughter of Ex-EFCC Chairperson – Farida Waziri has lost her daughter – Jackie Ifidon-Ola to the cold hands of death.

Family sources say the 39 year old died at a hospital in Abuja on Sunday January 224th after a brief illness.

She is survived by a husband, two children and her parents, Senator Ajuji Waziri and Farida Waziri. May her soul rest in peace Amen.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Becomes The Highest Paid Footballer in France

According to les Parisen newspaper, the 34 year old PSG star striker has been handed a 700,000 euros ($760,000) monthly pay-rise making him by far the highest-paid footballer in France.

Ibrahimovic joined the club in 2012 from AC Milan and has scored 127 goals in 156 games since then.

He now gets 1.5 million euros ($1.1 million) a month before tax under the performance-based hike agreed late last year.
