The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced that it has initiated a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of veteran actor Don Brymo Uchegbu.
Don Brymo Uchegbu passed away on Thursday, June 15, and there have been conflicting reports about the cause of his death.
While some claimed that he died in his sleep, others allege that he collapsed while shooting a film in Ahoada, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
However, in a statement signed by Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, the National President of the AGN, the guild clarified that preliminary investigations indicate that he did not die on any movie set.
The statement read,
“The Actors Guild of Nigeria was thrown into another state of grief following the sudden demise of Don Brymo who was reported to have slumped on a film set in Rivers State and later passed on. This tragic death came as a rude shock and has thrown the entire Guild into another grieving moment as we mourn his death. I have taken reports from all the actors on the set with him and found out that he didn’t collapse on set as widely speculated.
While I commiserate with his immediate family, we have commenced preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, especially from the hospital where he was rushed to.
This has also proven further credence to our incessant clarion calls on members to sign up for the AGN health management (HMO) plans to help put their health in check constantly.
I and the entire members of the Guild are saddened by this tragic development of a death that could have been possibly avoided if urgent intervention was provided. May Don Brymo’s soul rest in peace and may God comfort all of us left behind to mourn him. We shall keep members abreast with the latest information and updates from the family.”
Popular singer, Chukwuka EKweani, professionally known as Ckay, has sparked a debate online after he spoke on the influence of his senior colleagues, Runtown and Tekno in the Nigerian music industry.

Odumodublvck made the revelation while speaking on the latest episode of popular singer Joeboy’s Body & Soul podcast.
The rapper disclosed that he almost died following an accident that led to major surgery, with about 16 stitches in his mouth.
Despite the challenges, Odumodublvck expressed that his life took a turn for the better when Grammy-winning artist Wizkid shared his song “Picanto” on social media. Coincidentally, it was also the day he was discharged from the hospital.

An Italy-based Nigerian lady identified as Pat Chi has narrated the story of how she became pregnant for a Nigerian man she hardly knew in order to prevent his deportation.
According to her, she had decided to tell their intriguing tale of unexpected love after she revealed that she was 18 years older than her husband.

A Kenyan chef identified as Maliha Mohammed has embarked on a cook-a-thon trial a few days after Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci was confirmed as the Guinness World Record holder.

And that was like, the first thing that God used to tell me that, yo, I’m with you, everything that is going to be happening from here onwards, it’s going to be more than what eyes have seen, ears have heard.”
Dr. Baffa Bichi, Secretary to the Kano State Government (SSG), has explained why the symbolic Tumbin Giwa roundabout at Kano Government House was demolished.
News made rounds earlier that the roundabout was demolished in the wee hours of Wednesday, June 14, as part of the new government’s mission to demolish “illegal” structures that were tampering with the state’s masterplan.
During a radio interview, Bichi revealed that the roundabout was taken down because of the presence of a Christian cross which contradicts the teachings of Islam.
He said;
“If you take a drone to take the picture from the top, you will see a cross. In Kano, you cannot do that. Not only that it is in Kano, but in the Government House roundabout. This is against our norms and values and also against the teachings of Islam.
“Another reason is that the roundabout is blocking people from seeing others from different directions. That is causing holdup and accidents along Government House road. This is not a wise decision.
“Secondly, the Hotoro interchange flyover is also carrying a big cross. We have to look at that too. This means if you are viewing Kano from the top using a drone, you will see two big crosses. That of the Government House and the flyover. We will not let that be.”
Speaking on the demolition exercise carried out in other parts of Kano, Bichi added,
“How can you build shops inside mosques and residential area? This is wrong and that is what we are trying to address. That is why we ask everyone from the places that are wrongly built to remove their belongings. We gave notice severally, even before swearing in.”
Regarding the question of compensation, the SSG urged the victims to claim their money from the people who defrauded them.
A video of a woman confessing in church to having kidnapped children from their parents and selling them has caused a huge stir online.
Apparently, the woman had just given her life to Christ and was renouncing her wicked ways. Before the congregation, she confessed to the criminal dealings she had been involved in before encountering Christ.
According to her, she has sold five of her own six children and thirty others whom she kidnapped for money.
She revealed that the least amount she made per child was N400K, and she is clueless about what the kids she hands over to her contractors are used for.

Port Harcourt-based clergyman, Apostle Chibuzor, has booked a return flight for the Happie Boys despite their insistence on staying back in Cyprus.
Recall that the former security guards, who gained social media attention after getting sacked from their jobs for dancing on duty, were sponsored to Cyprus on a scholarship along with their manager, Caleb, by the clergyman, Apostle Chibuzor.
However, they recently revealed that the scholarship only lasted for six months as they stopped receiving sponsorship from Apostle Chibuzor after the first six months of their arrival in the Middle Eastern country.
In response to the allegations, the clergyman revealed that he paused the scholarship due to financial challenges. He also mentioned that he suggested they return to Nigeria or Benin Republic to continue their education, but they refused.
He added that he has forgiven the boys for the call-out and offered them a scholarship to any university of their choice in Nigeria or Benin Republic. He further stated that he has booked flight tickets for them to return to Nigeria.
Responding, the boys shared a video on their Instagram page rejecting his offer to sponsor their trip back to Nigeria, as they maintained that they have no intention of returning.
However, Apostle Chibuzor has ignored their refusal to return and revealed that a flight has been arranged for them to come back to Nigeria.

A Nigerian man has exposed the alleged first semester result of former security guards,Happie Boys, who were granted scholarships to study in Cyprus by Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries.
The man, identified as Mohammed Aminu Yahaya, shared this on Facebook while criticizing the young boys for being ungrateful to their benefactors.
This comes after the boys, who gained fame after being fired for dancing on duty at a restaurant, called out the clergyman for reneging on his promise to sponsor their education.
Reacting to the outburst, Mohammed berated Happie boys for expecting further assistance from Apostle Chibuzor when they allegedly failed six out of seven courses in their first semester.
He claimed that the boys were focused on flexing and living large in Cyprus, instead of studying and finding a job to support themselves in school.

Former security guards, Happie Boys have publicly apologized to the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, for calling him out on social media.
It will be recalled that the boys, who gained popularity after being sacked for dancing at a retail food outlet, recently made headlines for accusing the clergyman of reneging on his promise to sponsor their education abroad.
They claimed that he only took care of them for six months and asked them to wait for another six months before he could provide further assistance because he was experiencing financial challenges. They said all their attempts to seek his help was futile as he either ignored their messages or claimed to be broke.
Their accusations didn’t sit well with many who slammed them for calling out the man of God despite the help he rendered to them. In response to the backlash, they indirectly accused Apostle Chibuzor of using their ‘star’ and released a purported voicenote of the clergy raining curses on them for being ungrateful.
Apostle Chibuzor, who initially kept silent on the issue, spoke out and revealed that he has forgiven the boys for their behaviour. He also offered them a scholarship to any university of their choice in Nigeria or Benin Republic, and said he has booked flight tickets for them to return to Nigeria.
Reacting to the offer, the boys, in a new video shared on their Instagram page, have tendered public apology to the clergyman for their conduct. They, however, rejected his offer to sponsor their trip back to Nigeria as they maintained that they have no intention of coming back to Nigeria.
They said the clergyman have done his best for them but they don’t want to benefit from his “offering and tithe” anymore. According to them, they will find a way to survive in Cyprus.
A Nigerian man, identified as David Tochukwu Obi on Facebook, has shared his last conversation with late Nollywood actor, Don Brymo Uchegbu, before his tragic passing.
Earlier reports confirmed that veteran Nollywood actor Don Brymo Uchegbu peacefully passed away in his sleep on Wednesday night at the age of 56.
In a touching tribute to the late thespian, Obi shared their last conversation on WhatsApp, where Uchegbu had promised to be there for him.
Obi expressed deep sorrow and regret that Uchegbu had pledged to support him but couldn’t fulfill that promise due to his untimely death.
“You promised to be there for me, sir. We never planned for it to be for such a short period of time, sir. Why now? Why? It’s too hard to say goodbye, Don Brymo. Rest in peace. Good night in the day, sir. Go well,”he captioned the post.

Actor Mayor Ofoegbu confirmed the news of Don Brymo’s death in a post shared on his Facebook page on Thursday morning, June 15.
Sharing a photo of the deceased, Ofoegbu wrote,
“Plan for tomorrow but live for today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. I wrote those lines on my WhatsApp status yesterday evening. My man, my 5 & 6, Don Brymo Uchegbu, passed away in his sleep.
“I received the shocking news this morning and had to verify from his family. Chai Don Brymo my manchi. It’s hard to say goodbye.Nnukwu nwa na Enugu ukwu.”
Veteran Nollywood actor, Sylvester Madu also known as Shina Rambo, was recently spotted selling second-hand clothes, commonly known as ‘okrika,’ at a market in Enugu state.

A video circulating online captures the emotional moment a father broke down in tears after his family surprised him on his birthday.
In the video shared on TikTok by the man’s daughter @wendyrubby, he could barely contain his emotions when he was presented with the surprise gifts.
The family gave him a money cake, a picture frame and a lovely cake decorated with his picture. This gesture appeared to have struck a cord in the man as he started shedding tears.
The Nigerian dad had to be consoled by his wife and children before he could regain control of his emotions, as he was overwhelmed with tears of joy due to the heartfelt gifts he received.

Popular Nollywood actress and producer, Destiny Etiko, has taken to social media to call out her colleague, Ruby Ojiakor, over a failed contract.
In a video shared via her Facebook page, Destiny disclosed that she paid Ruby Ojiakor N700,000 to star in her movie, but the actress has been unavailable and has also refused to refund the money.
According to Destiny, instead of Ruby seeking ways to make up for the disappointment, she began issuing threats about physically assaulting her.
In reaction, an enraged Destiny Etiko disclosed her current location in the video and challenged Ruby Orjiakor to confront her.

The former Guinness World Record holder for the longest cooking time by an individual, Lata Tondon, has congratulated the new Nigerian record holder, chef Hilda Baci.
It was earlier reported that Guinness World Records certified Hilda as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual on Tuesday, with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Taking to her Instagram stories on Thursday, Tondon congratulated Hilda and Nigerians.
“Namastey Nigeria. I’m very happy for you all & my best wishes to Hilda!” She wrote.

The last words of veteran Nollywood actor, Don Brymo Uchegbu, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday, June 15, has been revealed.
It was gathered that the actor fainted while filming a movie in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, earlier this week and was rushed to the hospital.
He was reportedly diagnosed with high blood pressure and partial stroke, after which he was discharged from the hospital and taken to his hometown in Akwa, Anambra state, to be given traditional treatment.
According to an insider source, his caregiver predicted that he will be fine and back to health in three weeks. However, things took a different turn when he slumped on Thursday morning and died.
“I was told his last words were: ‘Odogwu has turned to vegetable’. He said it in Igbo before taking his last breath,” the insider said.
The 56-year-old actor is survived by his wife and four children.

The 42-year-old singer, who was previously known for his promiscuous ways, admitted that he has undergone a transformation and is currently not involved in any romantic relationships.

Nigerian comedienne, Real Warri Pikin has revealed that she attempted to end her life in 2018 due to some financial crisis.
Real Warri Pikin and her husband Ikechukwu recently made headlines after their 10th wedding anniversary celebration and they reaffirmed their commitment and love for one another.
During an interview with media personality, Chude, Real Warri Pikin shared the details of her suicide attempt.
The comedian said that between 2017 and 2018, she and her husband, Ikechukwu were deeply in debt and unable to make payments and that the experience led to an unsuccessful attempt at suicide.
She described how, following the incident, she was taken to three different hospitals in a hurry.
She said;
“In 2017/2018 my husband and I had financial issues. We were in debt and everything, so when I attempted suicide I’m June 6, 2018, I didn’t die.
They took me to about three different hospitals but in the last hospital when I woke up, I wondered why I didn’t die. I said God, you see this my story, I will use it to help others.
It means if God didn’t allow me to die then, he wanted me to use the story to help others around me and not keep it to myself. The fastest way I could do that was online and I had an Itel small phone that wasn’t clear enough.
