How sad… You should be warned though… those of you who allow your babies to be ‘pecked’ or ‘kissed’ by individuals all in the name of them adoring the baby and all.

A pained mother has learnt the hard way after her baby contracted herpes by kissing a family member. Claire Henderson, a mother from Doncaster, England shared photos of her newborn to Facebook on Facebook.

She captioned the pictures with a message to moms on why it’s important to not let anyone, including friends and family kiss your baby:

She wrote:

“Please share this with every new mum and pregnant woman you know… COLD SORES CAN BE FATAL FOR A BABY. Before 3 months old a baby cannot fight the herpes virus. If a baby contracts this it can cause liver and brain damage and lead to death.

I know this sounds like I am scaremongering but if my friend had not told me about this my baby girl could have been very seriously ill. I noticed the signs early and got her to A&E, we have now been in hospital on a drip for 3 days and have got another 2 to go.

She was VERY lucky, all her tests came back clear. The moral of the story is DO NOT let anyone kiss your newborns mouth, even if they don’t look like they have a cold sore- 85% of the population carry the virus. And if someone had a cold sore ask them to stay away until it has gone.

Everyone who I have spoken to had not heard of this before and so I felt it was important to share Brooke’s story and raise awareness to stop anyone else going through what we have this week.”

Nigerian Pilgrim Educates On Why The Hajj Saudi Arabi Deaths Occurred.

Following the reports deaths of the estimated 736 pilgrims (Including Nigerians) during the Hajj stampede in Saudi Arabia, an Islamic pilgrim from Sokoto, Alhaji Muhamadu Ilela, who claims to have been at the scene, said the deaths occurred because the Saudi police blocked one of the gates leading to the Jamrat area.

‘’For over one hour, the queue didn’t move and we were in the scorching sun. After some time, people started collapsing because of the heat wave, This was what caused the initial deaths. A stampede followed which caused the deaths of most pilgrims.’’

Amoung the Nigerian casualties are, Veteran journalist, Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf, as well as one of Nigeria’s respected Islamic intellectuals, Prof. Tijani El-Miskin.

El-Miskin was said to be a professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies. He was also the Chairman of Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Though this year recorded the worst deaths recorded at the pilgrimage , it isn’t actually the first. 266 pilgrims had died in 1994 while 98 others were injured at the stoning site that year. Ten years later, 251 pilgrims died in 2004 and in 2006, 346 also died.

“I Slept On The Bare Floor For Four Days” – Revived Chief Olu Falae Reveals.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae , reveals traumatically that he slept on the bare floor for the four days when he was held in the kidnappers’ den.

The oldie who was released on Thursday after being kidnapped allegedly by some Fulani herdsmen on Monday, on his farm in Ilado village, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, described his experience as “hell.”

In his discussion with state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who paid him a visit at his Oba Ile residence, Falae said his abductors were unreasonable in their demand.

He said

“When I told the kidnappers that my family could raise N2m for ransom against the N100m they demanded, they rejected it and told me, ‘Is it Boko Haram you are giving N2m to?’”

After he was released, the septuagenarian said he trekked several kilometers from his farm to a hotel in Owo town, where he met security agents that took him home.

All efforts to speak personally with Falae were prevented by his hostile children.

Looking weary and frail, the former Minister of Finance arrived at his home at about 4.45pm. It was gathered by Punch that the IG, Arase, who arrived in Ondo State at about 06:00am on Thursday, met with operatives from the Ondo State Police Command, and mobilized them to the Owo area of the state where Falae was rescued.

A police source, who was on the rescue team, told the publication that Falae was rescued at about 2.30pm.

He said:

“We came into Ondo at about 6am with the IG. We then went to Owo town. The IG came with five units of mobile policemen and over 400 policemen from the Ondo State command. There was also the Special Intelligence Response team. The chief was rescued at bout 2.30pm.”

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, also said the family did not pay any ransom to the kidnappers. She added that no member of the kidnapping gang had been arrested yet.

She said:

“The chief hiking on arresting the suspects, and they will be brought to book. We do not have any suspect presently.”

29 year old Caroline Wanjiku has beeen arrested after she confessed to hacking her mother-in-law – Ann Nyambura to death in Kiambu County.

She claimed that Satan had ordered her to also kill her mother and sister but she didn’t find them at home.

Caroline reported to Thigio chief’s post on Monday, September 21, saying visions of snakes coiling around her waist kept her up at night.

“On Sunday night when I went to sleep, the snakes visited me. They asked me to kill the three people they kept asking for, but I prayed to God and slept after they left. The following morning, they came again and asked me to kill them. I do not know what happened but I proceeded to the kitchen where my mother-in-law was and killed her with an ax.” She said

She told the press, administration police and residents she also intended to kill her mother and sister but did not find them at her matrimonial home. “It is Satan who disturbs my mind,” said the woman whose husband, David Njenga, works in Qatar.

She said she committed the crime while her father-in-law, Ben Maara, was at a garage washing his car, and then took a boda boda to her home.

Assistant chief James Mwaura said Wanjiku told her father-in-law that she had killed his wife, and asked for her mother and sister. “She went to the AP post to report what she had done when she could not find her mother and her sister,” Mwaura said. “She has been taking tablets which control her mental problem but no one knows what happened. We are leaving everything to investigators.”

Officers from Tigoni police station and crime scene detectives from Nairobi county reported to the scene and began a probe. They collected blood samples and the ax and took statements from family members, but declined to comment saying they were not authorised to address the press.

Wanjiku was later transferred from the chief’s post to the police station. Officers said she will undergo a mental check at Mathari hospital. The body was taken to City Mortuary.

Executive Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose and chairman of the PDP national electoral panel, Bayelsa State, yesterday described Dr. Goodluck Jonathan former president’s participation in the primary election in the state as a “home coming” .

Speaking during the Bayelsa PDP primary, Fayose went further comparing Jonathan to Jesus saying that Jonathan, just as ‘Jesus Christ did exactly to save souls’, gave it all.

In his own words:

“A president took me out of the government house by force and another President gave me a leverage and a platform to come back. To whom much is given, much much is expected.” My President and former President of Nigeria, my loyalty is not in doubt. Ayodele Fayose also said it was wrong on the part of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint his in-law as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

He also urged Governor Dickson not to entertain any fears over the forthcoming election, declaring that the governor has all it takes to defeat the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in the December poll.

An alleged fake lawyer identified as Olawale Falola, said he made N6m from his victims who he promised to help secure jobs at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Punch gathers that Falola, who was nabbed by the Oyo State Police Command during a stop-and-search in Ibadan recently, claimed to be a dropout of a university in Osun State, adding that he had deceived more than 100 people with his fake identity.

It was gathered that after seeing a sticker belonging to the Nigeria Bar Association on his windscreen, the police asked him about his identity, but he failed to substantiate his claim of being a lawyer.

He said:

myself as a lawyer and I have taken money from more than 100 people. I promised to get jobs for them at NNPC and security organisations. I have made up to N4m from the practice out of which I bought a car.

“I paraded a Toyota Corolla car. I lived in Osogbo. I came to Ibadan to visit my family when I was arrested by the police.”

The car, valued at N2m, has the number plate, FST 298 AY. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Leye Oyebade, said Falola’s car had been impounded and that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations into his activities were concluded.

He said:

“Falola was arrested for parading himself as a lawyer when he was not. “The car was bought from the proceeds of his illegal activity and he had confessed to the crime. There is no place for such people in our society. In our renewed effort to completely rid the state of criminals, the state police command will not give room for criminals to thrive.”
