Popular singer and songwriter, Shakira has taken a dig at her ex-lover Gerard Pique in a preview of her new song ‘Empty Cup’.
This follows news that the 35-year-old former footballer is currently planning to propose to his new girlfriend, Clara Chia.
Shakira, aged 45, took to her Instagram page to share a six-second clip from the new track, but fans were quick to notice that she made reference to her separation from the footballer.
In the song, she said,
“You are always busy with so much business. It would be nice, my love, a little leisure.

This latest diss from Shakira comes in response to reports that the former Spanish footballer is making plans to propose to his new girlfriend, Clara Chia.

A Nigerian man identified as Khan has taken to social media to narrate how a fellow passenger lost her phone to a Lagos traffic robber while in traffic.
Khan shared on the microblogging platform, Twitter how their bus was stuck in traffic in Ikoyi and the lady was very focused on her phone.
According to him, the passenger on the bus did not see the thief as he disappeared immediately leaving the girl very distraught and sad.

A Nigerian photographer identified as Emmanuel Okorie has stated he has never cheated on his wife despite the kind of work he does.

The mother of one, known for sharing hilarious content with her fans and followers, recently posted on her Instagram page, recounting a bizarre incident that occurred during her recent vacation.

A white garment church cleric, Prophet Gabriel Evans, has berated clergyman David Ibiyeomie over his recent controversial statement about white garment churches.
Recall that Pastor Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries, sparked an uproar after a video of him expressing his dislike for white garment churches surfaced on the internet.
In the video, which was filmed during a recent sermon in his church, the televangelist and senior pastor of Salvation Ministries shared his opinion of white garment churches, noting that many would have a negative opinion of them if they knew what takes place in their churches.
According to Ibiyeomie, some prophets from these white garment churches manipulate people’s destinies through the use of demonic psalms and other rituals.
Reacting to the controversy in a video shared on social media, Prophet Gabriel Evans accused Ibiyeomie of deviating from Jesus’ message of “love.”
Prophet Evans emphasized that the word “hate” should not be used by a revered clergyman like Ibiyeomie, and stressed that they have not categorized Pentecostal churches as frauds despite the actions of some pastors within the denomination.
He further stated that the founders of their churches are Africans and that most Pentecostal churches are attempting to recolonize them.
Prophet Evans also added that 80 percent of David Ibiyeomie’s church members attended white garment churches in the past, while 70 percent of them still return for miracles.

The Celestial Church of Christ has written an open letter addressed to the senior pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, over his recent comment about white garment churches.
It will be recalled that during a sermon in his church, the televangelist expressed his strong dislike for the church denomination because of the practices he believes they engage him.
According to him, some prophets in white garment churches manipulate people’s destinies through the use of demonic psalms and other rituals.
“Do you know why I dislike white garment churches? People don’t know the reasons behind my feelings. If you knew what they do, you would never like them. They can take your surname and put it inside a bottle of gin and perform incantations,” he said in part. ICYMI, watch here

In a new development, the Celestial Church of Christ has taken to their media’s official Instagram account to condemn Pastor Ibiyomie for speaking ill of their church.
They declared that the clergyman cannot be considered a true man of God for saying he ‘hates’ another Christian denomination, as it’s against the teachings of Christ. They also clarified that they pray with Psalms, not incantations as he claimed.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus has taken to social media to share her disapproval with the practice of parents using leashes on their children.

During the Big Brother Naija Reunion show that aired on Tuesday night, Pharmsavi expressed his disappointment in Eloswag for nominating him for possible eviction, which ultimately led to his exit from the show.
Pharmsavi explained that he didn’t anticipate the nomination because Eloswag, who was his friend and lockdown roommate, held the position of Head of House at the time.
According to him, Eloswag’s decision to nominate him for possible eviction felt like a betrayal.

Veteran Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has threatened to sue Premier Records Limited over an alleged violation of the terms of agreement in musical contracts signed about 35 years ago.
The singer’s lawyer, Mr Rockson Igelige, made this known in a letter written to the record label expressing Charly Boy’s grievances.
The letter, dated June 19, 2023, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, claimed that Charly Boy had signed Artists Recording Contracts with the company in 1988, 1990, and recently.
According to the lawyer, the contracts had since expired, but Premier Records was still infringing upon his client’s copyrights to the musical works.
The letter demanded that the company hand over Charly Boy’s master tapes, artworks, promo collateral for the music, and other relevant and confidential information within 30 days of the date of the letter.
The lawyer also demanded payment of Charly Boy’s outstanding royalties.
“On our client’s instructions, we demand that your company handover our client’s master tapes, artworks, promo collateral for the music and other relevant and confidential information with your company within 30 days of the date of this letter. We also demand your company’s payment of our client’s outstanding royalties,” the letter read in parts.
The albums affected, as stated by Mr Igelige, included the one recorded in 1990, featuring songs such as ‘Big Bottom’, ‘Aids’, ‘Sexy Lady’, ‘Mama’, and ‘Nwata Miss’. He also listed an album titled ‘U-Turn’ with songs like ‘Akula’, ‘Sheri’, ‘Comfort’, ‘Civilian Barrack’, and ‘Akula’ (instrumental). Another album mentioned was ‘Reality’, which contained songs like ‘Monkey’, ‘Family Support’, ‘No.6 Man’, ‘Give Me Life’, ‘Lagos Life’, and ‘Baby Come Back’.
The lawyer argued that the contracts with the company, initially known as Polydor Record in 1988, then Polygram Records Limited in 1990, and currently Premier Records Limited, had expired due to the passage of time.
“As a result, we have our client’s instructions to formally inform your company to stop further breaching our client’s copyrights to the musical works under the musical albums and singles produced during the aforementioned expired contract period,” stated Charly Boy’s lawyer. “This is because the conditions precedent, as well as the consideration for the contracts, were not met and furnished.
“This serves as a legal notice that further breach after the receipt of this letter will attract legal action.“We hope and trust that your company will comply with our client’s modest demands,” he added.
A Benue security expert, Jonathan Onoja Isaac, has taken to Facebook to remind men of his community, Otukpa, of the laid down morals and customs of their land.
The people of Otukpa have a special tradition – one of which is worshipping alekwu, who is known as the god of justice and represents the spirit of their ancestors.

Reality TV star and media personality, Elozonam, has stated that he would prefer to marry someone from the village rather than in Lagos.

In other news, Nigerian talent manager, Soso Soberekon has shared his opinion on why many couples are unhappy in their relationships and marriages.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the media personality asserted that many are in relationships for superficial reasons, instead of love and commitment.
According to Soso, most men are with their partners because they have banging bodies while most woman are dating their partners because they are wealthy.
Soso explained that dating for these reasons are a recipe for failure and unhappiness because marriage is not about look or financial status.

Nigerian content creator, Trinity Guy, has reacted after the spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, called for his arrest over his extreme pranks.
It was earlier reported that Muyiwa Adejobi had taken to social media to call for the arrest of the Ibadan-based prankster over his recent prank video.
In the video, Trinity Guy, who is popular for his expensive pranks, is seen pretending to be killed by a gunshot, scaring unsuspecting passersby.
The prank apparently didn’t sit well with the police PRO, and he took to social media to express his disapproval.
He shared one of Trinity Guy’s worrisome pranks on his Instagram page, calling for his arrest. He urged people affected by the skitmaker’s pranks to report him to the authorities.
“This doesn’t make any sense, and I think the guy should have been arrested. Those individuals who feel the heat and fear of the pranks should report the pranksters, as many of their pranks are criminal, immoral, and evil. These women have a good case against him,”he wrote.
On Twitter, he added, “We have warned them severally. When nothing happens, nothing happens, but when something happens, consequences will surely follow. They will soon realize the dangers attributed to the excessiveness of doing unguided pranks.”
Trinity Guy, however, appeared unfazed but rather pleased by the buzz the video caused online. In his response, he shared a link to an online publication about Mr. Adejobi’s statement with the caption, “I am trending, Alhamdulillah, not for the wrong reasons.”
Popular Nollywood actor, Benson Okonkwo, has provided an update regarding his colleague Yul Edochie’s first wife, May Edochie.
The actor disclosed that he reached out to May, who has been silent on social media since the death of her first son, Kambilichukwu, to inquire about her well-being.
In the post, Benson shared the details of his phone conversation with May, stating that she is doing well and will soon be active on social media again.
He also mentioned that May was touched by the prayers she has received from fans and expressed deep appreciation for all the support.

A young man named Jamal Nureni has met his untimely demise after a water tank belonging to a neighbour fell from its stand and crashed into his bedroom.
Nureni, who was only 20-years-old, was crushed to death in his grandmother, Alhaja Yemisi Odejinmi’s house on Alhaji Kazeem Street, Ikotun-Egbe area of Lagos.
It was gathered that Nureni was fast asleep in his room on Saturday, June 17th, when a tank full of water fell from the neighbor’s compound next to his grandmother’s house. He was rushed to the hospital but was sadly confirmed dead on arrival.
The bereaved grandmother has revealed that Nureni was seeking admission into the University of Lagos to study engineering. She said she was planning to get a citizenship confirmation letter for her grandson as part of the requirements for processing his admission.
According to her, she was planning to follow him to the palace of a Lagos monarch that Saturday morning to get the letter when the tragedy struck.
Speaking to Daily Trust, the grieving grandmother said,
“It is a fence separating my house and that of my neighbours. I have been living here for over 40 years. Whenever they pump water and their tank is full, it spills into my compound. I have talked to them several times, but they didn’t change and because we are all from the same town (Abeokuta), I decide to let go and always sweep the water,” she narrated.
“Jamal (Nureni) was seeking admission to the University of Lagos and he needed evidence of citizenship. He and I were planning to go to the palace of Oba of Isolo that Saturday morning to get a confirmation letter.
“I was in the bathroom around 6.30am when I heard a loud sound. I never knew it was in my room. The tank fell from our neighbour’s compound and crashed into the room where my grandson slept. It crushed his head. He was 20 years old and had been living with me for about three years.”
“His father lives in Canada and I have broken the news to him. He was very sad. We have been receiving a lot of visitors. The owners of the tank have been begging us too.”
Popular Ghanaian actress turned author, Yvonne Nelson, has revealed that she is not on speaking terms with her biological mother.
The 37-year-old actress made this revelation in her memoir, titled “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,” which was launched on Sunday, June 18.
Yvonne Nelson explained that she severed ties with her mother because her mother had lied to her about the identity of her father for many years.
According to Yvonne, her alleged father, Mr. Oko Nelson, is not her biological father, and she has been carrying the wrong last name.
An internet user, Sel The Bomb, who read the book and shared the information online, noted that Yvonne Nelson has never met her father and is currently not on speaking terms with her mother due to this issue.
“The most shocking revelation in Yvonne Nelson’s book is not even about Sarkodie. Her ordeal regarding her supposed father is the craziest revelation. Apparently, the man, Mr. Oko Nelson, who is now late, is not her real dad. She says her mother lied to her. So, unbeknownst to her, she kept portraying this innocent man in her comments and interviews as an irresponsible father. It was only when the man was sick that her mother told her Mr. Nelson is not her dad.
“Before she could reach the hospital to apologize, he had already died. The man passed away in 2017 without ever publicly speaking about Yvonne Nelson. He took the humiliation to his grave. However, Yvonne has apologized to his ghost in the new book.

Nigerian actress, Tonto Dikeh, has broken her silence after her Ghanaian colleague, Yvonne Nelson, accused her of having an affair with singer Iyanya.
