17-year-old girl arrested for turning down a man’s sexual advances after he ‘dashed’ her N17,500
A 17-year-old girl (name withheld) has been nabbed by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command following the complaint of one Mr James who claimed she’s owing him #17,000.
Mr James reportedly gave the minor the said amount in small installments but when she turned down his sexual advances, he demanded that she should refund the money in its entirety.
The minor refused to give him a refund because she claimed he ‘dashed’ her the money out of his freewill, prompting Mr James to invite the police to arrest her.
A human right group, called Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign, made this disclosure in a statement released on Monday, September 19.
It reads,
“Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign last Saturday received a call from residents at Bestman Estate,Rumukwuota,Obio/Akpor about a 17 year old girl who was arrested by Police Officers from Rumupeirikom(Kala) Police station in PortHarcourt based on compliant by one Mr. James who has being enticing and luring the minor for sex that she is owing him,” the statement read.
“The said Mr James has being dashing the minor money without telling her his reason until recently he started demanding sex from the teenage girl who turned down his request.
“Mr James demanded that she refund him 17,500 naira the total money he has dashed her but the teenager said it was dash and non refundable which prompted Mr James to effect her arrest.
“After listening to both parties,the DPO of the station asked the 17 year old girl to go with her parents and warned Mr James seriously to stop harassing the girl based on her age.
“Evidence Agwor Esq and Prince Wiro Rivers State Legal Adviser and National Coordinator respectively of Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign were in the station for the matter.
“The Centre was demanding the detention and subsequent arraignment of the man for enticing and luring a minor but her family was of different view.
“The law is clear,an underage boy or girl( below 18 years) does not have right of giving consent in a sexual relationship.”

A Twitter user, identified as Linda Smith, had taken to the micro-blogging platform to allege that the reality TV star was in a romantic relationship with her sister, but he reportedly dumped her following a disagreement.
According to Linda, her sister and Pere both had issues that could have been settled, but Pere chose to cut ties with her.
She begged Pere to make contact with the said sister so she could have closure on what had happened between them.

A young man identified as Opeyemi Olufemi was apprehended by the police for stealing from the offering box of a church to the tune of N620K.
A video that was shared on social media shows the moment the young man was subdued after robbing a church of its offerings.
The young man is reported to have had accessed and robbed a church whose name and location remain unknown at the time of this publication.
Opeyemi was nabbed with a bag where he’d stashed money of all dominations amounting to a total of N620,115.

According to the report, the Pastor of the church and worshippers were flogged by the masquerades who disrupted the Sunday service.

The actor’s first wife, May Yul-Edochie, clocked a new age on Friday, September 16, and she held her birthday celebration over the weekend.
A highlight of the event that has stirred sweet reactions from online in-laws was the moment Yul joined May on stage.

Pastor Kumuyi speaks against forcing women to cover their hair before entering the church; says most women have become unattractive by always covering their hair (video)
The founder of Deeper Life Bible Church, Williams Kumuyi, has chided his church workers for always forcing women to cover their hair before entering the church.
The clergyman, while preaching in his church recently, said it’s not cool for ushers to turn ladies away because they are not wearing a head covering, or force them to tie a scarf before gaining entry into the church.
According to him, some ladies might have vowed not to attend the church again because of the embarrassing experience.
He quoted 1 Corinthians 11v5 which speaks on women covering their head and said women should cover their hair while ‘praying and prophesying’.
“Somebody is coming to our church for the first time. And she happens to be a lady not covering her head. We ask the person to cover her head before coming in.
We don’t know whether the person does not even know God. We confront her out there before she even enters the church. We don’t know if she is born again or not. We don’t know whether she does not know how to pray or prophesy and we say stay there by the door. We delay her there and we say you must cover your head. Every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head.
And there are people who will not even allow those ladies to get saved, for those ladies to understand the word of God and those ladies do not know how to pray, they are not prophesing. But we impose rules on her that she must have this ”scarf” now.
If I were the person, I would wonder what kind of church is this? If they treat me like a primary school girl, that will be my last time coming to the church.”
Speaking further, Pastor Kumuyi said some women in the church have become unattractive to their husbands because they cover their heads for almost 20 hours a day.
He said covering the head for long hours will make it smell because of heat.
“There are some women who are not attractive to their husbands. Some believe since they are married they are no longer obligated to look good before their husband. There are single sisters that are not presentable. ”
Addressing women who cover their hair judiciously, he said many of them might not even have a fervent prayer life and think covering their hair is enough.
“They just believe since they are covering their head, they are okay.
If I don’t tell you maybe nobody will tell you. There are some wives who dress shabbily and are no longer attractive to the man. There are some single sisters that are not presentable. Anybody who is looking for the will of God may not be attracted to them.
The Bible says every woman that pray or prophesies. The reason why you are covering is either you are praying or prophesying.”

Sometime in April this year, A Nigerian lady recounted how she was flogged by masquerade until she fainted in Anambra state.
The lady on Facebook with username, Ngene Chiamaka Marvelous took to her page to reveal how she went to the market despite her health condition and unfortunately for her, she ran into a masquerade at Eke Nibo on her way back home.
She shared that the masquerade flogged her and others also joined in flogging her until she fainted. The flogging left her with welts and she shared photos of her injuries on Facebook.

Woman reportedly dies in car crash while chasing her husband because she spotted him with a lady in Calabar
An unidentified woman reportedly lost her life in car crash in Calabar, Cross River State while allegedly chasing her husband who she saw with another lady at a shopping mall.
An eye witnesses, Stephen Okposin revealed that the accident happened along the Murtarla Mohammed Highway on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
According to him,
“The lady saw her hubby at Spar shop with another woman in the car, so she hurriedly drove to double cross them. This man saw her car and zoomed off, so the woman became aggressive and sped up.
“I was just driving behind them just in less than 3 minutes I saw her involved in the accident and she’s unconscious at point of death. The hubby that was running suddenly dropped off the lady who was with him and rushed down to to assist revive her from the car. She’s been rushed to the hospital. We pray she survives it.”

Big Brother Naija housemate, Allysyn is the latest housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother Naija house.
The dark-skinned model was announced by Ebuka moments ago as the newest housemate to leave the house after she didn’t have enough votes to keep her on the show.
Allysyn was nominated alongside Hermes, Adekunle, Sheggz, Rachel, Dotun and Bella and so far out of these housemates, Allysyn is the first to leave.

Ex-convict arrested with illicit drugs in Lagos, 2 years after he was released from Ethiopian prison
Men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested an 44-year-old ex-convict, Onyeka Charles Madukolu, for allegedly importing 5.90 kilograms of coc@ine concealed in cans of deodorants and ladies lip gloss into the country.
Madukolu was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Friday, September 16, 2022.
NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, September 18, said Onyeka was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in Ethiopia for dr#g trafficking offences and released from prison in 2020.
He was again arrested on Friday at the Lagos airport on his return from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
“A search of his luggage revealed he had concealed 5.90kg cocaine inside cans of deodorants and female lip gloss. During preliminary interview, he claimed to have gone into the dr#g business to raise fresh capital to start a legitimate business after his release from Ethiopian prison in 2020.
The father of two kids, one each from a Nigerian woman and a Brazilian lady, said he was into motor spare parts business before going into the criminal trade. The indigene of Awka North LGA of Anambra State said he was expecting to be paid N2million on successful delivery of the illicit drug in Nigeria,” the statement read.

In other unrelated news, the Italian island of Sardinia has shared its plans to pay people 15,000 euros or $14,767.88 each to live on the island.
Reports say that the government has set aside $45 million for the relocation grant, which is enough to fund 3,000 moves.
Since a lot of young people are moving abroad for work, the government wants to get people to the island.
“We have created the conditions for young people to decide to stay and [develop] the economic fabric of the most fragile territories,” said Christian Solinas, Sardinia’s president.
“There can be no growth without a real enhancement of the territories, of the interior and most disadvantaged areas, which must pass through new policies for their repopulation.”

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has lambasted his colleague Uche Maduagwu after the latter berated him for his birthday message to his first wife, May.
Uche Maduagwu had in a lengthy Instagram post criticized Yul, who promised to love his wife forever in a heartfelt note to her on her birthday.
Uche argued that if Yul loves his first wife, May as much as he claims, he would not have married another wife.

Reacting to Uche Maduagwu’s post, Yul Edochie, berated him for interfering in his personal matters and speaking of marriage when he (Uche Maduagwu) was not married.
Yul continued by comparing his accomplishments to those of Uche and advised him to start a family and decide his gender before coming at him next time.

Social media commentator, Solomon Buchi, has refuted claim that he and his fiancée, Arike, have parted ways.
The controversial live coach had on Saturday, via his Twitter handle, claimed that he and Arike were no longer an item while speaking on going through a heartbreak.
“We are no longer together”, he replied to a tweep who asked if Arike had broken off their engagement.
However, moments later, he retracted the claim while reiterating that he only told the media what they wanted to hear.
He shared loved-up photos of himself and his fiancée and captioned it,

Big Brother Naija level-up lovebirds, Bella and Sheggz, have shared their wedding plans with their colleagues.
During a discussion with fellow housemates on Saturday afternoon, the pair, who met and started dating only a few weeks after they were unveiled as housemates for the 7th season of the show, expressed their intention to take their love further and get married after the show.
Sheggz, a 26-year-old professional footballer, said that he plans for his wedding with Bella to be the talk of the town.
According to the pair, they are going to have a destination wedding and he (Sheggz) will sponsor the visa for a hundred guests.
Sheggz avowed that the wedding plan is not a bluff as it’s a desire that he intends to fulfill after the show.

This comes barely three months after he announced their engagement. Buchi proposed to his abroad based lover, in June on their first year dating anniversary.
However, shortly after, he became enmeshed in a series of controversies. He came under fire for a write-up on Arike, stating that she’s not the most beautiful or the most intelligent, but he chose her.
His statement was received with mixed reactions, with a lot of people saying he didn’t have to point out his fiancée’s shortcomings.

Pastor called out for charging members $1499 to teach them how to pray
An American pastor has elicited reactions after she shared a flier of her intensive prayer training costing $1499 (N1m) on Facebook.
The clergywoman, Dr Juanita Bynum, revealed that the package included a four-week 7-session, an in-person 2-hour intensive, a prayer shawl, and a sacred anointing oil, to mention but a few.
She shared the flier on her Facebook page with the caption, “The Prayer Institute: a four-week, seven-session, in-person, 2-hour intensive. Register Now! Atlanta, Georgia is the location. Seating is Limited! “
In no time, the post garnered tons of reactions from Facebook users, with many questioning the need to pay to learn how to pray.
Taking to the comments, a Facebook user Amarie Aiken wrote,
“I don’t give af what’s included (which doesn’t specify) you have LOST your mind!!! y’all wild don’t nobody have money to just toss because of some prayer, and why pay that much to learn how to pray you better talk to the old folks around you they can show you for FREE!”
Another Facebook user @Tiffany Canty wrote,
“Ikyl. For $1499 must be leaving with a VIP ticket into Heaven and the keys to my mansion and my driveway better be paved in gold like the streets.”
