Nigerian track and field athlete,Tobi Amusan has been celebrated by the Ogun state government for her prowess in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Tobi Amusan made the country proud in the recently concluded sporting event in Birmingham after she set a new world record and won a gold medal.
In respect to her victory, the governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, gifted her a house in Ijebu Ode and awarded her a check of N5 million for her landslide win.
The gifts were presented to her when she paid a visit to the Ogun State Government House in Abeokuta on Tuesday, October 4.
Gov. Abiodun, speaking at the meeting, commended Amusan for her doggedness, resilience, and determination to excel.
He added,
“We are going to be presenting you with one of those homes in Ijebu-Ode. We are rest assured that you will come back home and live in Ijebu Ode.
“We will be giving you a small token. Now you are a big girl, we are only a state government. No matter who you are, you can’t be bigger than your state. It’s not the quantum of what we are giving you but the thoughts that come with it. We are donating to you the sum of N5 million today.”
Nigerian crossdresser, James Brown, has responded to an inquisitive fan who queried why he’s yet to tear off the nylon of his new car.
Recall that in September, the entertainer splurged millions of naira on a tear-rubber Range Rover for himself, and took to his social media pages to show off the luxury ride.

A Lagos High Court sitting on Tuesday listened to the audio recording of an alleged phone conversation between Chidinma Ojukwu and a security guard, Abubakar Mohammed, at the rented short-let service apartment where Super TV boss, Michael Usifo Ataga, was allegedly murdered.
Chidinma Ojukwu is standing trial for alleged murder, stealing, and forgery alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and Adedapo Quadri.
In the audio recording that was heard by the court on Tuesday, Ojukwu was heard saying “hello” while the security guard, Mohammed, also responded by saying “Hello, who is this?”
Chidinma then replied, “It’s me,” and then she asked the security guard about Ataga’s car. She said, “Is the car around?” “Which car?” Mohammed responded. Chidinma then said, “That my oga car, the black Range Rover.”
The court also heard Mohammed tell the first defendant that, as she was not around, he could not go and knock on the man’s door. He then asked her if the man was alive, and she replied that Ataga was alive.
He further asked her what time she was coming back; she said, “I am coming.” Mohammed then asked her to use her phone number to call him so that he can have it, to which she replied, “ok”.
Before listening to this recording, the Lagos State Deputy Director for Public Prosecutions, Mrs Adenike Oluwafemi, asked the ninth prosecution witness, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Olusegun Bamidele, to confirm his testimony of May 9, where he told the court about the security guard’s interaction and conversation with the first defendant.
Bamidele confirmed the evidence he gave before the court and how he had testified that the security guard transferred the audio conversation to his Infinix Hot 4 smartphone.
The witness was asked if he would be able to identify the Compact Disc and he answered in the affirmative. When it was shown to him, he identified it and also told the court that he had attached a certificate of compliance to the CD.
He said, “The alleged maker of the CD, is Mohammed (PW2) and the prosecution had not made the required document of why this court will make do with a hearsay document when the author had already given evidence as PW2”.
Egwu cited Section 83 1 (a) (ii), 2011 of the Evidence Act and said “The prosecution has not laid any of this foundation of the tendering of the document through Segun Bamidele.
“If the prosecution desires and wants to rely on this document, PW2 ought to have been called,” he said.
In her reply, Oluwafemi said, “It is trite law that whatever the investigation Police Officer gathered as evidence is direct evidence and not hearsay. Finally, admissibility is based on relevance”.
In a short ruling on the arguments of the prosecution and defence counsel, Justice Yetunde Adesanya dismissed the objection of the defence counsel.
Justice Adesanya adjourned the case to October 6, 2022, for the continuation of the trial.

Men of the Economic and financial crimes commission have arrested an Ekiti state-based Disc Jockey, Famotemi Toluwani Timothy for allegedly impersonating singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as “Portable”.
EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, released a statmeent on Tuesday where he reveald that the suspect was arrested on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
The Statement reads ;
Timothy, a native of Igede-Ekiti in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, allegedly opened an Instagram account with the name “Zazoo Omolalomi Portable” where he claimed to be the singer.
Investigations showed that the suspect met one of his victims, Adebayo Adedimeji Lukman, running a Club in Offa, Kwara State, on social media and introduced himself as “Portable” and bargained to perform at the Club for the sum of N1 million naira.
The suspect requested that 80 percent of the money be paid before the event, and Adebayo reportedly paid the sum of N790,000 (Seven Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira) into a bank account number provided by the suspect.
However, the self-styled artiste,“ Portable” did not show up at the event, which was held on February 18, 2022 and eventually blocked all means of communication with the suspect.
“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
Popular Nigerian Gospel Singer, Frank Edwards has shared his opinion about people’s different choices in the 2023 elections.

There is an ongoing fight between former ‘music friends’ Soso Soberekon and Harrysongs, and it seems ‘the pressure is getting wesser’.
Yesterday, news made rounds after Harry Song claimed during an interview with Frankly Speaking Podcast hosts that talent manager Soso Soberekon sent people to kill him in Port Harcourt.
He also said that Soso is not his friend as many believe.
He claimed Soso is his “enemy” and even tried to kill him.
The singer did not give a specific last name but everybody automatically assumed he was talking about Talent manager and music producer Soso Soberekon.
The circumstances at which Harrysongs left his former label (5 star music) also fueled the rumors that Soso really tried to kill him.
Mr. Soberekon did not take kindly to Harrysong’s words and he has slammed him with a suit demanding he retracts the statement and pay N500M for compensation.
Failure to do the above listed after seven days will lead to a court case, Soso warned.

The new parents threw a huge dedication ceremony to celebrate the birth of the twins named Osayogiere and Osasenime at The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Benin City, on Sunday, October 2.
Mr Toju is the Project Coordinator of the Edo State Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR).

Mohammed Sulaiman became viral on social media after he shared photos of his three wives and 18 children during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Sulaiman, who had revealed that he won’t mind having more kids, took to Facebook on Saturday, October 1, 2022, to give an update on the latest happenings in his home.
According to his Facebook posts, he took a new bride, his daughter got married and one of his wives gave birth to a baby boy.
A 32-year-old man identified as Akindele Opeyemi Olufemi, was paraded by the Ekiti State Police Command on Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a church’s offering vault and stealing over N600,000.
According to police, the suspect was apprehended at a “Stop and Search Point” of the Command’s Safer Highways.
Olufemi, who was riding a motorcycle, initially refused all police attempts to search his bag.
He was however overpowered by the officers who discovered he was carrying various denominations of Nigerian currency. He was arrested after he couldn’t explain how the money came to be.
The money was taken from the Christ Apostolic Church’s campground in Ikeji, Ara-Ikeji, Osun State, according to the investigation. The suspect was apprehended by the Ekiti state police command while trying to enter the state.
He admitted to the crime and claimed that he had been a security guard for the church for two years before resigning earlier this year. He then went back to the campground under the guise of a “Personal all night Prayer” and stole money from the church offering vault, which contained more than N600,000.

A viral video shows the moment a little girl broke down in tears while complaining about her hyperactive brother, who gave her a tough time taking care of him.
Apparently, their mother had given the youngster the responsibility of looking after her little brother, Ire, but the hyperactive boy, who wouldn’t sit still, made the task frustrating for her.
Amid tears, the young girl recounted to her mother how her brother had been stressing her out and how he’d been getting his hands on harmful objects and climbing the staircase, while she tried tirelessly to save him from injuring himself.
It appears the little girl smacked her brother when he wouldn’t listen to her, and when her mother asked why she couldn’t calmly warn Ire, she said he was stressing her too much.
“He will not allow me to rest. I’m trying to save him from things that are sharp, things that will harm him. He’s stressing me out, and he’ll kill me.” She said in part, while sobbing profusely.

In other news, some Nigerian parents have taken to Twitter to bewail a recent practice perpetrated by the management of primary and secondary schools.
The outcry was spearheaded by a Twitter user @loseweightwithB who complained that schools don’t allow students to reuse books used by their older siblings.
She said this was not the case before as students could use textbooks used by their elder siblings which helped parents save money. However, things have changed and schools now use books as a source of income and every session, parents are expected to buy new textbooks and notebooks for their wards in addition to paying school fees.
Her tweet started a discourse on the platform and parents started speaking up about their own experience.
A father complained that schools also print customized notebooks which they force parents to buy at a higher price than regular notebooks.
They also tagged the Ministry of Education to the post and urged them to do something about the issue. Read here
Four members of a family at Mopa town in the Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State, have been confirmed dead after reportedly eating cassava flour meal known as’ Amala.’
The victims—a father, his two children, and a relative living with them—were said to have passed away in quick succession between Friday, September 30 and Sunday, October 2.
It was gathered that the family prepared the ‘Amala’ meal from the left-over cassava flour from which they had previously made and eaten ‘Fufu’. They were said to have spread the processed shafts in the sun to dry for some days.
However, after eating the meal on Thursday last week, they became sick overnight and efforts were made to stabilise them.
The family’s youngest member passed away on Friday, quickly followed on Saturday by the relative living with the family.
The others were immediately moved to the ECWA Hospital, Egbe, for better medical attention. Sadly, the eldest of the daughters, Motun, gave up the ghost at about 3:00 am Sunday. The father also died later that Sunday.
The man’s wife, identified as Molomo, is still alive at the hospital and under close observation.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the palace of the Elulu of Mopa on behalf of the governor, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, assured Mopa residents of its determination to unravel the mystery leading to the death of the victims.
“The governor has directed security and health authorities to get to the root of the matter. I want to assure your highness that the reports of their findings would be made public and necessary actions taken,” Fanwo said.
Meanwhile, friends have taken to Facebook to mourn one of the victims, Motilewa Tunrayo Peace, who is said to be a National Certificate of Education holder and teacher in the town.
A High Court sitting in Kano State have adjourned the trial of the Chinese citizen, Geng Quangrong, who allegedly murdered his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani Buhari, for turning down his marriage proposal in Kano.
Mr Quandong, 47, was initially arraigned before a Magistrate court sitting on Wednesday, September 21, but he addressed the court in Chinese which made it difficult for everyone, including the presiding Judge, to understand. The case was then adjourned and transferred to a High Court.
He was re-arraigned on Monday but the case was again adjourned to Tuesday because Mr Quandong lacked a legal representative.
At the resumed hearing today, October 4, the defence counsel, Muhammad Dan’azumi requested for an interpreter to be provided for his client.
In response to his request, the Kano state Attorney General and commissioner of justice, M, A Lawan said the case could not be heard as the accused person has the constitutional right to be communicated to in the language he understands.
“The issue of interpreter was raised which is a constitutional issue and after the last adjournment, we wrote a letter to the Chinese embassy requesting for interpreter because we expected this to happen and I am sure they will do that. That s is why we adjourned the matter to at least three weeks. Ordinarily, it’s supposed to be a week.” he said.

Following Khalid’s eviction, the levels merged and Daniella, who was in a serious relationship with Khalid before he was booted out of the show, got involved with former level 1 housemate, Dotun.
However, during the level-up final party, where all the 28 housemates, including disqualified housemate Beauty, converged at Biggie’s house to party together, Khalid ignored Daniella all night.
Speaking in a post-eviction interview with media personality, Ebuka, she admitted that she crossed boundaries in the house, which she believed would have hurt her former lover, Khaild.
According to her, she was thrown off by things she heard after Khalid left and over-stepped her bounds, but Khalid was not there to defend himself.
She added that she owes Khalid an apology, and she would like to start her relationship with Khalid afresh if the possibility presents itself.
“I feel like I do owe him an apology for passing certain boundaries. I’ll like to see if we can start afresh”, she said in part.
A Nigerian man, Moses Kole, has opined that women who run beer parlours are either divorcees or widows who used their promiscuous lifestyle to send their husbands to an early grave.
The young man made this assertion in a Facebook post on Monday, October 3.
Kole said it’s uncommon to see a woman who manages a beer shop and is still faithful to her spouse, in response to a Facebook user who asked if a woman can run a beer parlor and still remain faithful to her husband.
“All the woman who own beer parlor that I have ever seen are divorcee or widows who have used their reckless irresponsible and promiscuous life style to send their husbands to early grave. It’s so rare finding a woman who run a beer parlor still faithful to her husband.” He said.
This comes after Andrea Ekeng Inyang, the special assistant on strategic communication to Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade, has advised men against marrying women who drink beer in public.
Inyang, who gave this counsel in a Facebook post, said men who marry such women will not find peace in the marriage.
“Don’t marry any woman that sits in public to drink Gulder beer. You won’t find peace in that marriage.” he wrote.
Jonathan Rosenthal, the Africa editor of international newspaper, The Economist, has reacted to a video of the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, working out tremendously.
Tinubu had put out the video to debunk alleged report that he has withdrawn from the presidential race due to his health.
In the video, the APC chieftain was vigorously working out on a spin bike in a bid to dispel the rumors surrounding his health and well-being.
He captioned it;
“Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign. Well… Nope. This is the reality: I am strong, I am healthy and I am READY to serve Nigerians from Day One.”
Reacting to the video that has elicited different reactions on the internet, Rosenthal said it is never a good sign when a presidential candidate feels the need to prove he is still alive.
Quoting Tinubu’s tweet, he tweeted,

Sofiia Karkadym, a Ukrainian refugee, has been left heartbroken after a man who left his wife and family to be with her dumped her only four months into their relationship.
22-year-old Karkadym and her UK sponsor, Tony Garnett, 30, made headlines when they began dating in May after the security guard left his wife and mother of his two children, Lorna Garnett, to be with her.
It was gathered that only 10 days after Karkadym moved into Garnett’s home, which he shared with his wife and children in Bradford, West Yorkshire, to live with them due to the war in Ukraine, he fell in love with her and they began dating.
Regrettably, after only four months of dating, Garnett dumped Karkadym.
The Ukrainian refugee who found love in the U.K now has no money and no accommodation emergency and has now packed her bags and is headed to Poland and thereafter to her home in Ukraine even as the Russia-Ukraine war continues.
“I am going back to Ukraine because of the situation with me and Tony here in England. I need some support from my family and because I have not seen them for six months. I need to go for myself and to look after myself,” she told The Sun.
Speaking further, she said,
“I have mixed feelings about my time in England. There were a lot of good things but it became really hard for me and I didn’t expect all of the public reaction which was difficult. But I have been left with a very good impression of people here.
I am so grateful to everyone for the way they have been willing to help me and other people from Ukraine after the war. There has been a lot of kindness. I didn’t think they would be so generous. It has been really nice. I have no idea what the future holds for me now. I will spend time with my family and friends and then I will decide on the next stage of my life.”
Garnett, a security guard, drove Karkadym to the airport, the Sun reported.
Karkadym’s visa, which granted her emergency status for six months, was set to expire within weeks.
It was reported that their relationship ended after Garnett’s 30th birthday when Karkadym allegedly tried to stab a knife into the wall several times, resulting in the police being called.
An Instagram influencer, Karina Irby, has stripped naked to expose her bloated tummy as she tells women that it is normal be bloated sometimes.
The body positivity model who has over 1.2 million followers and shares mostly bikini photos on her page, took to Instagram to advise women who feel bad about their bodies.
Sharing an unfiltered photo of herself, Karina admitted that she felt ‘ugly, useless and exhausted’ because of her bloated tummy and couldn’t look at herself in the mirror.

The protest comes days after operatives of the anti-graft agency arrested 95 suspects in connection to internet fraud in the state.

The aggrieved protesters accused EFCC of arresting young men with no link to internet fraud and falsely accusing them of cybercrime.
Photos and videos from the agitation have been shared on social media, and the protesters burnt tires on major roads, held placards with different inscriptions such as ‘END EFCC’, ‘It’s not a crime to be a youth’ and so on.

In one of the videos making rounds online, some young ladies appealed to the anti-graft agency to release their boyfriends because their only means of survival is the proceeds from internet fraud.

The young man in a Twitter thread said he was about 18 years old when the incident happened.
According to him, he went to register for JAMB with a friend, but on that day the network was bad, so they couldn’t complete the registration, only to return the next day to discover that the card had been used.
The victim said he just found out that the same friend was paraded by the EFCC for fraud and his mugshot was shared on the anti-graft agency’s page.
He stated that seeing his friend in that situation makes him feel as if he has finally gotten justice for what happened years ago.
A popular Islamic cleric in Kwara State, Sheikh Abdulganiyu Nuraini, popularly called Alfa Gani Aboto, and two of his aides, have died after the vehicle they were travelling in was washed away in flood waters in the state.
It was gathered that Alfa Gani Aboto, his aides, Alfa Azeez Omoekun and Alfa Nurudeen, were coming from da’awah activity in Minna, Niger State, when the flood swept away his Toyota Yaris car while trying to cross a bridge near Harmony Estate/Kukende at the Akerebiata area of Ilorin.
The bodies of the victims were recovered by the state fire service from a river opposite Olusola Saraki Abattoir along Sobi Army Barracks road, Ilorin inside the car on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
The late sheik was a student of late Sheikh Kamaldeen Al-Adabiy, the first Mufti of Ilorin and founder of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria. He was also a hafeedh and leading trainer of Quran memorisers in the state.
His corpse was transported to his hometown in Aboto, Asa LGA of the state on Sunday after a janazah in Ilorin.
The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, have mourned the popular Islamic cleric and his aides who died in the flood.
The state governor in a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, his Chief Press Secretary, described the sheiks passing as a huge loss for the Muslim community and to Ilorin as a whole.
“We received with shock and sadness the deaths of the popular Islamic cleric Sheikh Aboto and a few others whose identities are not yet known. As faithful, we accept the judgment of our creator. We beseech Him to grant the scholar and others involved al-Jannah Firdaus.
“This, indeed, is one sad news too many. The death of Sheikh Abdulganiy Aboto is a huge loss for the Muslim community and to Ilorin as a whole. He was known for his vast knowledge and great efforts in the propagation of Islamic messages in the simplest form possible for his audience.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the families of the late Sheikh and the others, and the entire Adabiyyah family worldwide. It is our prayer that Allah will grant comfort to all the bereaved families”. The statement read.
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari in his condolence message, described Shiekh Aboto’s demise as unfortunate and regrettable, stressing that his death has left another vacuum in the dawah activities in the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
