“My husband calls me secondhand material” – Mother of four tells Lagos court

A Nigerian woman simply identified as Chinwe told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos State on Thursday, June 9 that her husband, Irinsanmi Ayeniberu, refers to her as a secondhand material.

NAN reports that the husband, a transporter in the state, had approached the court to grant him a divorce on grounds of incompatibility with his wife of four years, Chinwe.

Ayeniberu, in his petition, claimed that Chinwe, whom he married after his first wife’s death, was quarrelsome, disrespectful, and intolerant.

“My son’s wife, who was living with me, had to move out because of the way my wife quarreled with her. My two sons also moved out. “She doesn’t find it hard to hurl insults at them and fight them,” he said.

Chinwe, on her part, denied the allegations, claiming that her husband married her dubiously.

According to her, Ayeniberu married her knowing that she already had four children with her late husband.

“He never told me I won’t give birth for him. He married me knowing I had four children for my late husband”, she said.

“He promised to take care of me and my children, but they were all lies. I took in sometime in 2018 and gave birth to a boy who was healthy. Immediately my husband came to see that boy, he passed away.” she added.

Chinwe told the court that when she got pregnant again, her husband gave her abortion pills, claiming they were for dysentery.

“I bled for almost two weeks and lost that baby, he later told me that it was embarrassing for him to have a baby at old age. He said he only married me to be having sex with him, washing his clothes, cooking and caring for him, and I asked him what would be my gain in the marriage. He said he didn’t know but I should stick to what he told me”. She said.

The respondent also said there were attempts to poison her and make her to miscarry a pregnancy.

Speaking further, she claimed that her stepchildren, on several occasions, beat her with brooms and sticks and scattered her wares.

She alleged her husband wanted to divorce her over her refusal to go for family planning.

The case has been adjourned until June 28 for further hearing.

“I hope you find peace and rest. Zukwanike.” – Actress Georgina Onuoha writes an open letter to her colleague, Yul Edochie.

Georgina Onuoha has penned an open letter to her colleague, Yul Edochie on the lingering issue of his decision to go the polygamous route.

Yul Edochie recently tried to justify his decision (yet again) by averring that his blessings have doubled ever since he took a second wife.

He however admitted that he wronged his first wife, May, with the way he went about the whole process but God is the ultimate judge in the circumstance.

In the letter addressed to him, Georgina asked the actor to take stop with the hot takes and ‘rest’.

She said that he failed both traditionally and scripturally so he should quit with the incessant posts about polygamy.

The letter reads;

My dearest brother Yul @yuledochie I appreciate that you acknowledged you wronged your wife, May @mayyuledochie.
And I don’t recall anyone saying marrying a second wife is a crime. Our culture permits that, and some Christians take more than one wife.
There is a reason they say process and intent matter.

It’s one thing to impregnate another woman ( adultery ) while you are still married without discussing with your wife your desire to marry a second wife, which our traditions demand.
Since you are quoting our traditions on polygamy, have you forgotten there are rules for such engagements?

Most of us have parents who were born into polygamy. Who will tell you that their mothers brought the new wife home for their husbands, which is a sign of her giving her blessings to her husband.
I bet you know that is our culture and traditions. Taking a second wife because you impregnated her while still married is not noble; it is called adultery, and God punished most great men in the Bible you are quoting for such acts.

Marrying the same woman without the knowledge of your wife until she finds out on social media via a blog; is the worst kind of betrayal of trust. Eyin, there is nothing noble in what you did. You don’t force polygamy on people when they are not prepared for it. Give them an option. Not everyone has the grace to be a polygamist.

So both traditionally and scripturally, you failed.

Don’t justify your indiscretions with impunity by citing religion and tradition. On both counts, you failed. Abraham, our father in faith, got thumbs up from his wife Sarah to lay with Hagar, the slave girl.
God punished David when he slept with Bethsheba and killed their first fruit born out of that adultery.
So many examples in the Bible regarding adultery and its consequences.

What you did, did not glorify our culture and traditions because it was done with impunity and with total disregard for the humanity of your wife. I bet if the table were turned, you wouldn’t be singing this same song of getting more fame and her getting endorsement.
What it shows is that you have no respect for her and for yourself and kids. I hope you find peace and rest.

Zukwanike. Ozugo. Rest

“In the end judgement is for God.. Marrying two wives has brought me blessings and elevated my two wives” – Yul Edochie

Actor Yul Edochie has yet again addressed those dragging him dragging him for his decision to take a second Wife.

According to the popular Nollywood Actor and Politician, marrying two wives has brought him blessings and elevated his two wives.

In a post he shared on his Instagram page this evening, Yul stated that he wronged his first wife May with the way he went about getting married to Judy and that he has since apologized to her.

In his words;

”God works in mysterious ways.
Marrying a 2nd wife has brought me blessings and also elevated my two lovely wives.

Sometimes it takes the things we see as disappointments to happen for elevation to come.

It happened many times in the bible, just like the case of Joseph.
I’m a man after God’s heart.

I’m like King David in the bible.
I communicate with my God and He guides me everyday.
I wronged my wife May from the way I went about it, and I have apologized to her sincerely from the bottom of my heart, but in the eyes of God things are different.

God blesses differently.
His ways are not our ways.
Our destinies are different.
Don’t be deceived by the white man’s culture.
Same White people that condemn polygamy are encouraging men to marry their fellow men.

In the end judgement is for God.
Even white people don’t understand God fully.
Nobody does, actually. That’s why He remains God.

Many great men in the bible had one wife, many great men in the same bible also had more than one wife.
And if that happens to be your destiny God will elevate you and elevate all that concerns you through it.

My wife May just signed her first endorsement deal.
Something that never happened all these years. And this came from what many saw as a disappointment.
I have realized that God’s ways are different.
Many more deals will still come to her cos she’s a wonderful person.

So is my wife Judy.
She has also been elevated. Now widely known, her career is bigger with a whole lot going for her as well.
Let me not even talk about myself.
My stardom has tripled.
My name is being mentioned in places it never got to before.
My children are blessed.
Summary: The ways of God are different.
Our destinies are not the same.

You may not understand another man’s destiny and that’s because you’re not supposed to, except your own.
If God gives you more than one wife it will come with blessings and elevation.
Run your race and put God first in all you do.
He speaks to each of us differently.
Love and Peace to us all.”

“ISWAP responsible for Owo church attack” – National Security Council

The National Security Council has blamed the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) for the attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, on Sunday, June 5.

He claimed that the attack was not motivated by ethnicity or religion, and that the group’s operations had nothing to do with religion.

Reiterating that there was no ethnic agenda in the attack in Owo, Aregbesola urged Nigerians to unite and defeat the terrorists.

“President Buhari mourns the dead, condoles with their families, the Catholic Church, and the Government of Ondo State, charging emergency agencies to swing into action, and bring succor to the wounded. No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome light. Nigeria will eventually win.”

Court throws out lawsuit challenging Funke Akindele, husband and others’ COVID-19 conviction

Court throws

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has thrown out a lawsuit seeking to challenge the COVID-19 conviction of Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, her husband JJC Skillz, and others.

It would be recalled that the celebrity couple were prosecuted on April 6, 2020, for violating the lockdown and social distancing order in Lagos after throwing a crowded house party in their Lagos home.

Well, a Lagos-based lawyer, identified as Olukoya Ogungbeje, filed a lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of the Lagos State Infectious Diseases (Emergency Prevention) Regulations 2020 pursuant, under which Funke Akindele and her husband were prosecuted.

Court throws

According to him, the lawsuit is incompetent and has no reasonable cause of action. He also ordered the Lagos state government to tender a public apology in three popular newspapers to every Nigerian arrested and convicted under that law.

However, Justice Akintayo Aluko who presided over the case, countered it stating that Section 8 of the Quarantine Act 2004 allows the Lagos state government make regulations without the Federal Government’s approval.

They also noted that the regulation was made for public safety, public good and protection which is larger and far greater than that of an individual such as the applicant.

Justice Aluko who delivered the judgement said,

“In total, I hold that this suit has disclosed no reasonable cause of action against the Respondents.

“The instant suit is incompetent and the court lacks jurisdiction to adjudicate over same.

“Accordingly, this suit is hereby struck out for those reasons.”

“Light has never gone off in my church since 1999” – Bishop Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, has boasted that there hasn’t been a blackout at his church headquarters in Ota, Ogun State, popularly known as Canaanland, in 23 years.

The clergyman said that the church achieved this without the input of the federal, state, or local government.

“Light has never gone off in Canaanland since 1999. We have zero input from any government in Nigeria whether local, state or federal. Not that we collect offering every Sunday to achieve this. We invested resources and have good and very committed people that manage it. We teach the world that you can make your marks by depending on God.

“They don’t use mouth to get power. You invest resources to sustain power. Have we ever raised an offering for power here? Never!” He said.

Canaanland, Ota is reportedly Africa’s second biggest Christian estate. It is a 5,000 acre expanse of land consisting of Covenant University (560 acres), The Farm (400 acres), Faith Tabernacle (70 acres), CU sec school, Faith Academy, and Dominion Pub House, to mention but a few.

In other news, Oyedepo has admonished Christians, asking them to deviate from criticizing clergymen.

According to him, such attitude attracts dangerous punishment from God such as leprosy. A report by SaharaReporters shares that the renowned clergyman gave the warning during the Leadership Empowerment Summit at the church’s headquarters, Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.

Oyedepo said many critics of his ministry must have been victims of the warning, stressing that the warnings are based on spiritual insights.

The revered clergyman, who was one of the 28 aspirants who cupped the 100 million naira APC presidential nomination form, started trending online after an old video of him telling his congregation that he would be the next President of Nigeria after Buhari resurfaced following his loss in the presidential primary election.

The body of Christ most speak up about this. Let’s not always bring God into politics. I have no qualms with politics but don’t bring God into it. It diminishes accountability. I joke a lot because I want people to be http://happy.It’s sad when people bring God into politics. Our lord God is not part of your pantomime called Nigerian politics.

God has been telling me a lot of things, but he didn’t tell me I will be the 16th President ooooo.Maybe He told me to send bulk sms to delegates When a pastor said he sent bulk sms to delegates. I know he didn’t pray well enough.” He tweeted.
