Emmy Toms, a young Nigerian man, is currently trending on social media for his bravery during the gas explosion in Kano on Tuesday, May 17.
A fatal explosion occurred at a primary school on Aba Road, in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State, in the early hours of Tuesday, killing nine people and injuring many others.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sama’ila Dikko, while giving an update on the incident, said it was a gas explosion from a welder’s shop close to a nursery and primary school.
However, Emmy, a resident of the area, was captured in a video rescuing some schoolchildren in bloodied uniforms from the scene of the explosion.
It’s gathered that the Imo-state-born man maneuvered his way through the collapsed building to rescue some of the kids, not fearing for his life.
Nigerians have now taken to social media to celebrate the young man’s courage while commending his act of bravery.

A Twitter user has shared how a woman reportedly killed her daughter because her new husband doesn’t like the girl.
The mother, who had children from a previous relationship, poisoned her daughter to satisfy her new partner, according to the Twitter user @Sisi Yemmie, who reported the bizarre incident on the platform.
It’s said that the man despised his step-daughter and was constantly whining, so the lady ‘took her daughter out of the way’ in order to save her marriage.
She eventually admitted the heinous act to her son.
“I just heard this guy on the radio say his mom killed his sister because his step father did not like his sister & was always complaining. So his mom poisoned her. You killed your child for a man???!!!

Nigerian author, Reno Omokri, has elicited diverse reactions online after he advised against sex before marriage.
In a recent post, the former presidential aide who’s popular for his social media nuggets advised ladies to not allow a man to get intimate with them until they are married.
According to him, men are excited by sexiness but tamed by virtuousness; hence, the mystery of a woman should only be unveiled by marriage.

The Ogun state Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man, identified as Kingsley Essien, for allegedly trafficking his wife to Mali for prostitution and selling her 2-year-old son at N600,000.
The suspect was nabbed after his wife, Bright Essien, made a report at the Agbara divisional headquarters that in October 2021, her husband told her he had secured a job for her in Bamako Mali and being her husband, she believed him and travelled to Mali, unknown to her that he had sold her to a human trafficking cartel.
According to a statement released by the Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi,
“She explained further that being her husband, she didn’t suspect any foul play until she got to Mali only to discover that she has been sold to human trafficker cartel headed by a woman at the rate of One million four hundred thousand naira. While in Mali, she was forced into prostitution, but later found her way to Nigeria embassy in Bamako where she was assisted back to Nigeria.
On getting to Nigeria, she discovered that her two years old son in care of her husband is nowhere to be found.
Upon the report, the DPO Agbara division, SP Abiodun Salau detailed his detectives to go after the suspect, and he was eventually arrested.”
Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted that he indeed trafficked his wife to Mali, and subsequently sold her son to somebody at the rate of six hundred thousand naira.
Oyeyemi said the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the case be transferred to the anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
The CP also ordered that the buyer of the little boy be tracked down and arrested in order to recover the child.

Meanwhile, sex workers in Anambra State have threatened to starve policemen who patronize them over alleged harassment and arrest of their colleagues in major cities of the state.
One of the sex workers, simply identified as Kaamsi, who claimed to be a leader of the group in Umunze in the Orumba South Local Government Area of the state, told Saturday PUNCH on Friday that her members in the state had decided to starve policemen.
Kamsi, a leader of the group of prostitutes, said they would commence the decision as from Monday next week.
She said, “These policemen constitute over 50 per cent of our customers, yet they come here at the garden to harass and intimidate us on daily basis.
Popular Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has narrated how she was almost robbed by traffic robbers on the third mainland bridge in Lagos last night.

A Nigerian lady, identified as Juliet Urch, has taken social media by storm as she’s set to wed her man, Samuel Uchenna, after 13 good years of dating.
The excited bride-to-be took to Facebook to share their pre-wedding photos and narrated how she met the love of her life at a bank in 2009.
According to her, she went to open a bank account when she met her husband-to-be who was an employee of the now-defunct bank at the time.
After their first meeting, their paths crossed again in church and they exchanged contacts, and have been an item since then although the journey wasn’t completely rosy.
