Rivers university lecturer suspended after female student recorded him asking her for sex to help with her grades

The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has released a statement regarding the suspension of a lecturer in the Department of Curriculum Studies, Dr. Samuel Abiye, over his involvement of a sex-for-grade scandal.

Vice Chancellor of the varsity, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, revealed his suspension in a statement on Tuesday, August 24, via his Facebook page.

Ndimele stated that the lecturer was suspended for 3 months on half salary on allegation of sexual extortion for grade from one of his female students.

“He was recorded by a female student who he promised to help to pass his course and all other courses taught by other lecturers in their department, if and only if, she could help him through sexual gratification,” the VC stated.

“Dr. Abiye directed the female student to meet him at the King James Hotels towards Eagle Cement area of Rumuolumeni, where she was to be explored sexually in exchange for grades

“In the interim, the University has directed that all courses taught by Dr. Abiye for the 1st semester of 2020/2021 be regraded through conference marking to be supervised by the Dean of Education. All his courses and supervisees have been reassigned to other lecturers in his department

“The matter has been referred to the University Staff Disciplinary Committee for further investigation to determine his fate. We are determined to keep our little corners tidy.”

Final year Michael Okpara University first class student dies in a motorcycle accident after her last paper

In a recent quite tragic report, a final-year first class student of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Blessing Kalu has lost her life after a truck hit her in Umudike Oboro in the Ikwuano area of Abia State.

The quite tragic incident is reported to have occurred on Monday, August 23rd, 2021, only about two days after Blessing’s final exam on Friday, August 20.

According to reports, Blessing, a first class Entrepreneurial Studies student was on a motorcycle and was on her way back home after filling her gas cylinder when the unfortunate incident occurred.

It’s also reported that the motorcycle rider carrying her tried to overtake a truck when she was hit by the truck’s backside. The rider was said to have escaped unhurt.

Following her demise, friends and colleagues have since take to their respective social media pages to mourn her death and pay tributes.

In recent reports, Saudi Arabian authorities on Sunday, August 22nd held a recruitment exercise for Nigerian doctors who desire to work in the Middle Eastern country.

The recruitment exercise is reported to have held in Abuja, where qualified Nigerian medical practitioners thronged the recruitment center searching for better job opportunities outside Nigeria.

The job offer was open to consultants and specialists in all medical fields, excluding psychiatrists. The people who were present paid the sum of N10,000 for the application forms.

One of the doctors present, Vivian Okolo, stated that she was shocked to meet her lecturer, a qualified Pediatrician at the recruitment exercise which is taking place at a time resident doctors in Nigeria are on strike, demanding better working conditions.

“I left medica school April 2011. My teacher is here. My own teacher. The first person I sighted here was my teacher, a seasoned peadiatric consultant. You know what it means? My teacher that taught me how many years ago. I am giving up on the country and poor leaders and I come here to meet my teacher. This is the worse. I never knew it has gone this bad” Okolo said

The military officer, Major Christopher Datong, who was abducted in the early hours of Tuesday, August 24, by armed bandits at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, has been found dead.

A Lagos-raised US military officer has gone viral after he was filmed acting like a Lagos bus conductor on a US military jet.

The Army officer, identified as Simi Balogun, who was born and raised in Lagos, could be seen imitating a Lagos bus conductor in the viral video.

He is seen hanging on the entrance of the military jet as he called out, “Ketu, Mile 12”, like a regular Danfo conductor at a busy bus stop in Lagos

Afterwards, he jumped down from the aircraft and told the imaginary crowd to “enter with their change because there is no change” in Yoruba.

Nollywood actress, Bimbo Ademoye has shared a video of herself and her dad participating in the viral scholarship prank.

Netizens has been participating in the viral challenge, in which they have to trick their parents or guardian into making a video with them to solicit for funds for a scholarship worth thousands of dollars. While filming, the pranker would then mention that their parent was once involved in an illegal activity, inorder to get their real-time reaction.

Actress, Bimbo Ademoye also decided to try the challenge and pranked her dad into believing she was applying for a $100, 000 scholarship to filmmaker, Tyler Perry’s film school.

During the recording, she said she wants to win the scholarship to make her father proud because he engaged in armed robbery and cultism to provide for her and her siblings.

However, her dad didn’t take the allegations lightly as he fired at her for laying such accusations against him.

She said in the video, “I really wnat to win this because my dad has been my rock., he has been supportive of my career from the very first day. You guys know he took me to my first audition and waited six hours.

Growing up, my dad as a single father, things were not always so rosy but then he fought through for me and my siblings. Well, in recent events, there was a meeting between Jim Iyke and Uche where the former confronted the latter in his residence with a couple of people and during the course of the meeting, things got heated and Jim Iyke introduced his fists to Uche’s face.

A video that captured the moment of the confrontation was shared online and it’s quite audible what the two gentlemen had to say to each other.

With Uche asking Jim “how did you know that I’m here?” and Jim responding rhetorically before Uche saying “EFCC will carry you, you know they’re looking for you?”

The last comment seems to have agigated Jim Iyke who in turn threw punches towards Uche with the people beside him trying to restrain him from further assault.

Uche is later heard saying he’ll sue Jim Iyke, before Jim reintroduced his fists again and was still restrained by the people with him.

Obituary of seven wedding guests who died in ghastly accident in Delta

Seven wedding guests who died in a ghastly accident in Delta state will be laid to rest on Wednesday, August 25.

It was gathered that the victims were on their way from the wedding of a relative in Agbor when the accident which took their lives happened.

According to viral report, their vehicle; a Toyota Sienna veered off the road into a bush, and somersaulted several times. The seven women died on the spot, including the driver while two persons survived.

The women who until their death were members the Bomadi community would be laid to rest in the community on Wednesday.

One Prince Perekeme Bonny who took to Facebook to mourn their demise wrote,

“The Great lost at BOMADI town. Seven beautiful Vibrate ladies dead at a motor accident on their way back home, from ther sister marriage ceremony at Agbo and after everything they drove back, the motor turnbled into a Calvert river. Man allegedly beats his 7-year-old son to death in Lagos over piece of fish

A Nigerian man identified as one Saviour Aniefok is reported to be on the run after allegedly beating his seven-year-old son, Nathaniel, to death over a piece of fish.

According to reports surrounding the incident, the tragic incident happened at the suspect’s residence in the Shangisha area of Magodo Phase 2, Lagos State.

Aniefok allegedly tortured the boy over the allegation that he stole a piece of fish belonging to one of his customers.

A report by Punch reveals that Aniefok, an artisan, had repaired a faulty microwave oven for a customer, who gave him a piece of fish to test it after repair.

Aniefok reportedly forgot to return the fish while delivering the repaired microwave to the customer so he took it home for preservation.

One of the neighbours told the publication that Saviour was fond of torturing Nathaniel and his brother, Charles.

“I still saw Nathaniel on Sunday afternoon. In fact, I gave him snacks to eat. Around 10pm, we started to hear Nathaniel shouting and crying for help; we also heard loud bangs on the floor and wall indicating that he was being beaten,” the neighbour said.

“As he was crying, Saviour was telling him to shut up. I personally thought their stepmother was at home to caution him. But later, we got to know she had travelled. Surprisingly, I heard Nathaniel died the following day.”

Another neighbour said the father facilitated Nathaniel’s burial the following day, adding that he went into hiding and took Charles along to conceal the crime

“I was told his father said he was sick; someone that I saw playing in the compound. The injuries he sustained during the torture must have been responsible for his death. We only saw Saviour on two separate occasions after his son died. We have also not seen the stepmother of the children

“We learnt that the police have arrested his brother but we don’t know if Saviour has been arrested. I have seen him torturing one of the boys to the point of carrying the boy up and slamming him to the ground,” the neighbour said.

Another neighbour said he saw Saviour and three other persons attempting to convey Nathaniel to a location in the state around 4am.

“I saw Nathaniel lying naked in the back seat of Saviour’s car. I observed that a pain relief substance had been used to massage his body because I smelt it. I was on my way to work when I saw them.”

Good Samaritans contacted the Child Protection Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, which informed the Isheri Police Division to investigate the case.

When contacted, Saviour denied torturing his son to death, adding that Nathaniel was fleeing from being disciplined for stealing his customer’s fish when he fell and smashed his head on tiles.

“I didn’t torture my son to death. After I returned from church on Sunday, I got home and realised my customer’s fish had been touched. I asked who touched it and Charles said he was not the one. I asked Nathaniel, but he also denied it. I was going inside my room when Nathaniel thought I wanted to get a cane and as he attempted to run, he fell and hit his head on the tiles.

“I observed he was behaving strangely around 2am, so I quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital but it was locked. I rushed him to another hospital in Ketu, where he was referred to another hospital, but he died

“I didn’t go into hiding; my mother was sick, and I came home with my other child to see her and tell her what happened. I wanted to return to Lagos today but the IPOB stay-at-home order prevented me.” he added.

A Young Nigerian man who builds drones with local materials, Ignatius Asabor, has been flown to Finland by a Finnish company for immediate employment.

Ignatius, a self-taught engineer who makes special drones for Agriculture, was discovered by the Finland-based company that saw and appreciated his talent.

The Managing Director of the Finland-based company, Mr. Ari Saartenoja, shared the news on his LinkedIn page and expressed excitement at Ignatius joining his company. According to him, he is confident that the young talent will make positive contributions to the company.

Big Brother Naija star, Tokunbo Idowu popularly known as Tboss, has sent a memo to white people after a lady touched her daughter’s hair without seeking her approval.

The mum of one took to her Instastories to express outrage and describe the act as rude and stupid, especially when it is done without consent.

According to her, she understands that they are curious to know what black people’s hair feels like because of the texture disparity between black and white people, but it is plain stupid to go about touching people’s hair.

She wrote,

“Dear white people, it is f**king RUDE to just touch a Black person’s hair. Yeah we know our hair is strange to y’all & you’re curious to know what it feels like but just touching it without our consent is just you being stupid. This woman passed us on the road and literally just pompom-ed my baby’s puff puff. Before I could even snap at her she had pressed it how many times. Yoo.”

Popular Nigerian Singer, Davido, seems to have forgiven his staff, Israel DMW.

Recall that few weeks ago, Davido suspended his aide, due to the fact that he repeated causes trouble for his brand on social media.

Fans hinted that the suspension may not have been unconnected with the post Israel made, in which he showed support for suspected Hushpuppi ally and super-cop, Abba Kyari.

Israel, however, was at Davido’s mansion yesterday and thankfully, his erring episodes are now a thing of the past.

Israel didn’t have much to say but he took to his IG stories to appreciate Davido’s lawyer for intervening, he also shared a photo he took with his Boss, and simply captioned it “hmmmm”
