Nigerian music executive, Ubi Franklin is of the opinion that sanitary pads should be free of charge, while condoms should be sold.
It is common knowledge that some hospitals and health centers give out condoms for free, whereas sanitary pads are sold at exorbitant prices to women. Fortunately, different brands have been springing up in the country with affordable sanitary pads.
In a bid to advocate for sanitary pads to be completely free for young girls and women, Ubi Franklin took to his Instagram page to share his thoughts.
He wrote,
“Sanitary pads for women should be free!! while condoms should be sold.
You make the choice to have sex but women don’t have choice whether to see their monthly periods or not.”

Family of late veteran actress, Rachel Oniga in an official statement has debunked reports that she died of Covid-19 complications.
According to the family of the deceased she died from a heart-related ailment which she battled for a short period before her demise.
The statement which was released by her sister, Deaconess Toyin Odusote, on behalf of the family read in part,
“With a heavy heart and total submission to God, we write to announce the passing unto glory of our beloved sister, mother and grandmother; Chief Rachel Tabuno Oniga. She died in a Lagos hospital at the age of 64, on Friday, 30th of July 2021, at about 10pm.
“Contrary to diverse reports informing that she died from COVID-19 complications, we write to inform the general public that she died from a heart realted issue, an ailment she battled with for a short period before her demise.
We accept her sudden transition as God’s design and we see it as a function of a race of life well finished”.
Nollywood Actress, Oma Nnadi and her husband, Noni Enem, are celebrating their first child, Kairaluchukwu, as she turns three today July 31. The couple got married in 2018 and welcomed her the same year.

Self-confessed serial internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas popularly known as Hushpuppi, has been slated for October, this year, 2021.
This is according to the US Attorney’s office at the Central District of California.
Hushpuppi who claimed he was a Real Estate Developer was arrested in his Dubai home, in July 202 for multi-million dollar fraud perpetrated by him and members of his syndicate.

Blessing Okagbare, one of Nigeria’s brightest medal hopefuls in the ongoing Tokyo 2021 Olympics, has been suspended, with immediate effect, by The Athletic Integrity Unit, AIU.
Okagbare had on Friday qualified for the semi-finals of the Women’s 100m a race she would have participated in this Saturday evening. But with AIU`s announcement, her participation in the ongoing global games has technically come to an end.
AIU revealed that an out-of-competition sample from Okagbare tested positive for human growth hormone. “The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has provisionally suspended Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria today with immediate effect after a sample collected from the sprinter tested positive for human Growth Hormone.
Growth Hormone is a non-specified substance on the 2021 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List and a provisional suspension is mandatory following an adverse analytical finding for such substance under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
The AIU collected the sample from Ms. Okagbare during an out-of-competition test on 19 July. The WADA-accredited laboratory that analysed the sample notified the AIU of the adverse analytical finding at mid-day Central European Time yesterday, Friday 30 July.
The athlete was notified of the adverse analytical finding and of her provisional suspension this morning in Tokyo,” the statement read.
The report of a young man’s message to his girlfriend announcing his marriage to another woman stirred reactions on social media, with a number of people having things to say about the development.
According to a Twitter user who shared screenshots of the message which she claimed was sent to her friend, the said man told his girlfriend about his upcoming marriage to another woman via Snapchat.

A little boy identified as Daniel has been rescued from his madam who subjected him to horrific physical abuse only one month after he was brought in to stay with the woman.
The boy who is from Jos, revealed that his mother is late and his father is in the village, so he was brought from the North to Lagos and placed in the hands of a woman identified as Onyebuchi in Surulere, Lagos, so he can work for her and get sent to school in return.
The boy who is reported to be 13, was instead subjected to physical abuse and wasn’t enrolled into any school.
Concerned neighbours got involved after they saw the lad eating from a maggot infested dustbin in the compound. The neighbours saw that the young boy had cuts and bruises all over his body and his fingers were also bent and bruised.
The neighbours then made a video, asking the little boy what happened to him, to which he responded that his “Aunty” is responsible for hitting him.
Reports about the horrific abuse then made its way to the internet and human rights activist, Dr Yolanda George-David went to the named address in Surulere and there met the boy with his madam.
The little man was quite injured that he showed signs of serious pain when he was asked to sit, it was hard for him because of bruises on his bum.
According to reports from the encounter, his madam insisted she wasn’t responsible for the bruises he had. She also added that she regularly feeds the boy and doesn’t maltreat him.
The activist however, let her know they have receipts in form of videos of the boy carrying heavy things on his head and eating from the dustbin.
When the madam was why she is yet to enroll the boy in school, she explained that he has been with her for only one month and she was making efforts to do so. Also, most schools closed for the term a week ago so it wouldn’t have been possible to get him enrolled at the end of the school term.
It also was alleged that the madam got her children to abuse Daniel. She reportedly asked one of her children to hit Daniel’s head on the wall and the child did.
Despite the madam’s denials, the activists promised to ensure she faces the law.
A police officer who followed the activists to the scene took the madam to the police station in a bus. The madam’s child who hit Daniel’s head on the wall was also taken to the station to write a statement.

A quite aggrieved student allegedly placed a ‘sacrifice’ in front of the office of a staff of Michael Okpara University, Abia State.
The student not only placed the sacrifice but also left a note on the door of the office — in the note, they threaten to send some staff of the Biochemistry department of the institution to their early grave.
The student also disclosed that there is no seriousness in resolving the issues 400 level students of the department have. Names of staff of the department who are in danger of the threats were also listed.

A suspected thief got nabbed after he broke into an apartment through the roof and tried to make away with phones of the occupants.
The suspect was nabbed in the Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.
Members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Tarauni branch got a hold of the suspect on Thursday night, July 29 and took him to their office for further interrogation.
The update was shared on social media by one Abba Na Mu’azu, who shared how the suspected thief was caught red-handed.
In related news, some days ago, a suspected thief got nabbed at the birthday party of Ubi Franklin and Lilian Esoro’s son and the record label executive took to his IG page to expose the face of the culprit.
Ubi shared a video showing when the culprit was being interrogated – it’s alleged that the culprit is a serial thief who has been caught stealing at two different occasions previously but was pardoned.

New school Nigerian singing sensation, Daniel Benson, known better by his stage name, Buju has reacted after old tweets of him calling out Nigerian singers before he became famous, were dug up and recalled on the microblogging platform.
In the old tweets, the singer, who’s been making waves with his singles and features in the span of close to two years, specifically outed a number of Nigerian singers, criticized their works and even called some “overrated”.
In one tweet, he says “if everyone had his mentality, some musicians will not make it.” In another tweet, he called Davido a “childish c**t“. He called Mr Eazi overrated and outed Yemi Alade as well.
After the singer’s old tweets went viral on Twitter, he immediately deleted the tweets and then made a statement in reaction, saying at the time, he was ignorant.

Nigerian singer, Davido, has suspended his personal logistics manger, Isreal Afeare, following his nonstop comments on social media.
According to a source, the decision was taken after Isreal recently went on Instagram to give his take on the Hushpuppi-Kyari brouhaha which didn’t sit well with Davido.
Isreal DMW attested that Kyari is a clean cop and has tried his best combating armed robbery and kidnappers in Nigeria.

Abba Kyari, the deputy commissioner of police, has been in the news for more than two days now. The celebrated police officer found himself embroiled in the cyber fraud case against Hushpuppi, the embattled Nigerian socialite who — according to a US court filing —accused him of taking a bribe to arrest an associate.
However, the famous Police Officer debunked the allegation via statement on his official Instagram page.

A Nigerian girl has confessed that her mother reportedly gave her rat poison to put in her father’s food.
The young girl who identified her mother as Chinwendu Ngolo from Ehime Mbano in Imo state, disclosed that her mother’s plan was to kill her father.
She reportedly put the poison in her father’s food, however, she told him about her mother’s plan before serving him the food. When asked why she told her father, the young girl disclosed that she loves him.
Upon interrogation, the girl’s mother denied the allegation, claiming that she doesn’t know where her daughter got the poison.
In the video shared online by Facebook user, Ikwumelezeh Testimony James, the girl was tied up but he didn’t disclose why.

The remains of slain Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Ataga has been laid to rest in Lagos today July 30, 2021.
Michael Usifo Ataga who was gruesomely murdered by 21-year-old UNILAG student Chidinma Ojukwu was buried at the Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi, Lagos state around 12.30pm on Friday.
The funeral ceremony was lowkey and attended by only close relatives; his wife, Brenda Ataga and friends.

Meanwhile, according to a report by Premium Times the mother of deceased in a Tribute to her son at the service of songs which held on Thursday night, July 29th, stated that he died an undeserved death.
“God knows he did not deserve what those people did to him. My heart bleeds to him anytime I remember. He was generous to a fault, It took death for me to know how loved he was. He has been robbed of the joy of seeing a project he spent seven years working on.

Former Presidential aide and Author, Reno Omokri has revealed that he wonders why people still engage in internet fraud when there are several legitimate means of making money online.
The popular social media commentator took to his Instagram page to share his thoughts. According to him, crime is not worth engaging in in 2021 because the internet is filled with legal opportunities.
Reno went further to suggest ways people can make money online.
He wrote;
“The Internet is rich with legitimate means of making consistently clean money that I wonder why people still do Yahoo and 419. Crime is not worth your time in 2021.
You can live the John 10:10 life without being a Hushpupi. YouTube paid $10.5 billion to YouTubers in 2020. Affiliate Marketing generates $7.5 billion annually. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and On Demand Publishing can put literal millions (of US dollars) in your pocket.
Taking surveys and answering questions can pay all your bills. Look at me, I am a living witness. You do not have to be a crook. Get in the right game and avoid the wrong fame!”
