A video that’s began circulating online shows the moment a man stripped in one of the new generational banks to protest against “illegal withdrawals” from his account.

The distraught man who came to the bank with his children, stated that the incident has kept his wards out of school. He stripped to his briefs as some staff of the bank and security guards tried to placate him.

The man also disclosed that N300K was withdrawn from his account.

In other news, a young man reportedly slumped and died in front of a bank in Rivers state, after he was allegedly refused access to his own money, earlier in April this year.

It was gathered that the deceased has been visiting the bank since Friday, April 23rd, asking to withdraw his money and even came with his next of kin, but was asked to go to the court to get an affidavit even though courts are not in session due to the ongoing strike.

According to a young lady who stormed the scene, claiming to be the man’s daughter, he was sick and had come to the bank to get money for his treatment.

The young lady and two men demanded that the bank opens the access door so they could deposit the man’s remains in the banking hall.

An eyewitness, identified as Uwaifo Obiano who shared the video on Facebook, also confirmed that the man died due to the unfriendly attitude of the bank staff. Watch here

Baba Ijesha’s lawyer speaks on why the actor is still in jail despite being granted bail (video)

Baba Ijesha’s lawyer, Adesina Ogunlana, has revealed that his client has remained in police detention despite being granted bail.

The popular Nollywood actor who was arrested in April for sexually molesting a minor was granted bail on Monday afternoon on health grounds, but according to his lawyer, he has remained in police detention.

In a video he shared on social media, Adesina explained that his client has remain in detention because he has two sets of lawyers and while he insists Baba Ijesha be released without paying bail money, the other set of lawyers are negotiating with the police who are asking for money to be paid as bail.

In his words,

“The main problem is Ijesha has two sets of lawyers. The first set are the normal, due process conservative group and the other one is led by me, the one that they’re seeing as volatile, as radical, as activist, as confrontational.

“This difference in methods and opinions between both sets of lawyers is delaying Ijesha’s release”.

Speaking further, he named a senior police officer heading the gender unit, Margaret Ighodalo, and said she’s comfortable working with the other set of lawyers thereby delaying Baba Ijesha’s release until money has been paid.

Adesina Ogunlana said Margaret Ighodalo keeps insisting it’s the other set of lawyers that she knows and will work with. He also said that she’s been “hostile” towards him.

He added that the other set of lawyers have also been reluctant to work together with him because they are concerned about someone else “stealing glory” from them.

He explained that he has disagreed with the other group of lawyers in relation to paying for bail. He said he insisted that bail shouldn’t be monetized but the other group are saying it’s the way it’s done and are trying to raise money for it.

He said,

“How can you be monetising bail? And lawyers will be acceding to that. How can you accede to the monetisation of bail? The burden that the magistrate has not imposed. The magistrate never ordered that money be paid.”

“All those other counsel saying somebody is stealing your glory, nobody is stealing your glory. If I have any glory at all, it is enough for me. Who is stealing anybody’s glory? Who is taking your job? But the interest is that justice must be served without any compromise.

“So, for people asking me, direct your enquiries to those other lawyers that are comfortable working with the police and the police are comfortable, Margaret Ighodalo specifically, to work with them.

“Everybody knows our reputation. We don’t give bribe, we don’t give money, and there’s no need to give money.

“Once again, I’m challenging all those I’ve mentioned, if these things did not happen, if it’s an invention, Baba Ijesha should be released. Nigerians must learn never ever to be negotiating their rights.” He added.

Suspected kidnapper arrested for trying to steal kids from school in Abuja (Video)

A suspected kidnapper has been apprehended after he attempted to steal school children from their school in Abuja.

In a now viral video, a staff of the school narrated how the man stated that he’d come to pick up someone, but when he was questioned, he started threatening to withdraw his wards.

The suspected kidnapper had called names of students that did not attend the school which was what triggered suspicion of the school official who then called the attention of some other members of staff.

A crowd gathered in the school premises as the suspect was being interrogated. When he could not convincingly defend himself, he was then handcuffed and taken away.

17-year-old boy killed in industrial accident on his first day at work in Lagos

A teenage boy, identified as Babatunde Abdulrahmon, has been killed in an industrial accident that occurred on his first day at work.

The 17-year-old boy was sucked into a mixing machine on the day he resumed work at a manufacturing company in Satellite Town, Lagos state.

According to Punch, Abdulrahmon went jobhunting at Mingyi Trading Company Limited and was instantly recruited by the manager, Uchenna Umeanna, who put him under a supervisor.

The supervisor, Abdulrahmon and other employees were working in the factory when power outage suddenly occurred.

One of the workers went to switch on the generator in order to continue production. Unfortunately, the mixing machine began working and sucked in Abdulrahmon, who was standing close to it.

Umeanna said the deceased sustained severe internal injuries and all efforts by doctors to save his life proved abortive.

In his words,

“It was an unfortunate incident. Abdulrahmon came looking for a job and I personally took him to the supervisor to teach him the job. After some hours, I suddenly heard screams and I rushed down to the factory,”

“When I got there, he was inside the mixer and we had to bring him out. What happened was that the supervisor was teaching him how to scrape the particles of the PVC material on the mixing machine. According to the supervisor, a power outage suddenly occurred and another worker switched on the generator, and Abdulrahmon, who was close to the mixing machine, was suddenly sucked into it. We quickly switched off the generator and pulled him out, but his legs were injured and when we rushed him to hospital, they said he had internal injuries and was bleeding,” he added.

Friends of the deceased have taken to Facebook to mourn his demise.

A gas explosion has rocked Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun Sate, leaving two people dead and others injured.

According to Vanguard, the explosion occurred on Thursday Morning, May 20, at the Marque event centre within the presidential library.

It was gathered that technicians were topping up gas into the air conditioner (AC) when it exploded.

Vanguard reports that Ogun state fire Service and some officials arrived promptly at the scene of the explosion to ensure that the situation does not escalate.

It was further learnt that the bodies of those killed in the explosion have been evacuated by the rescue team.

The explosion occurred around noon on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, resulting in the death of a technician and another yet-to-be-identified person.

Three others were left with varying degrees of injuries. They are receiving treatment in a hospital.

Well it seems like the old days are coming back to Nigeria!

There is a high rate of inflation in the country and it really stinging hard on the masses.

A single unit of sachet water (locally called pure water) for a very long time, had been sold for 10 naira, but in recent times, the price doubled to 20 Naira. In some areas, a Bag which was previously sold for about N150, has also seen its price reach an “all time high” of N300.

This high price in purchasing such a necessary commodity has caused some residents in Aba to resort to selling/buying a much cheaper form of sachet water.

4th wife allegedly stabs husband to death for impregnating another lady

A woman, Olanshile Nasirudeen, 47, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her 51-year-old husband to death in Ijebu Ode area of Ogun state.

It was gathered that the suspect, a co-butcher and 4th wife of the deceased, stabbed her husband for impregnating a lady.

According to reports, Olanshile saw the pregnant lady at the abattoir and confronted her about why she had an affair with her husband.

This led to a heated argument between her and her deceased husband. She reportedly took a butcher knife and stabbed him at the back joint of his left leg, thereby cutting one of his veins.

He was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment and was later transferred to Ijebu Ode General hospital, where he eventually died due to loss of blood.

Upon a distress call, the police stormed the scene but the suspect had gone into hiding before their arrival. She was traced and arrested in her hideout at the Mobalufon area of Ijebu Ode.

During interrogation, the woman claimed that her husband hit her first simply because she asked his pregnant mistress for her mission at her market stand.

According to her, she boarded a bus from Maza Maza in Lagos to Onitsha. On getting to Onitsha, she took a bus to Owerri and in Owerri, she boarded a bus going to Port Harcourt, not knowing that the male passengers were kidnappers.

In the course of the journey, one of the guys brought out a handkerchief, she felt a hand on her nose and dozed off. On waking up, she saw her hands and legs were tied in a strange location and she started shouting.

At this point, she said she was beaten up by 6 hefty men for refusing to stop screaming. She was stripped naked by their boss and he searched her bag and took everything.

The kidnappers told her the only thing that can save her is if she calls her people. She said a naked photo of her was taken and she was told to put in her fingerprint to unlock her phone.

She was out of data so they recharged and subscribed with her phone, then sent her photos to her relatives, before calling them to demand ransom.

She explained that the kidnappers told her one day after her kidnap, on Sunday, that her relatives were making efforts to pay the ransom.

They then informed another kidnap victim that her family members were not making any move, and there and then, they made a call to an “Alhaji”, to know if he’s interested in buying the woman’s body parts.

Narrating the call, Nneka said,

“They said, ‘Ah, Alhaji, fresh meat dey oh. How we go take do am? Which part you need?’ The Alhaji say ‘breast, I need her second to the last finger, I need her eye, I need her ear’.

“So he said, ‘OK, how much are you looking at?’ and he said, ‘Ah, Alhaji, if you can give us 4 million, we’ll kill it now now now and send it to you’.

“The Alhaji started pricing. He said ‘let me give you people 3 million, it’s OK’. They said ‘done’ then cut the phone. They carried the girl immediately.

“They had a very, large, big table, but it’s an iron table. So, they took the girl. the girl started begging, telling them that she has no one and is an orphan and an only child.

“They said ‘who only child help?’ Immediately, they cut her head, started piecesing her, in my presence. So, after some hours, they came back again, they took the other girl, they cut her, they called and found out the part they needed gain. That one said ‘her private part, breast and eye’, that is the only thing he needed that night.

“They had to carry the second girl again to kill in my presence.”

On Monday morning, at about past 11, Nneka explained that the kidnappers arrived and told her she’s lucky because her people have paid and they will be releasing her.

They also told the other woman that she will be released too as her people have paid and the kidnappers told both of them to go for thanksgiving when they regain their freedom because they are fortunate to have people willing to pay for them.

Nneka said that if she had stayed a day earlier, she would have died because they weren’t given food and she was left naked for the period she was in captivity.

She was put on a bike later that day, late at night, and was dumped in the middle of a dangerous road. Because of how she looked, those who saw her on the road ran away from her. Only one man approached her and offered to help.

An old video of Grammy award winner, Burna Boy speaking about how he has an issue with the way Wizkid fans gets hyped has surfaced online.

In the video which was made during the battle of hits tagged NS10vs10, by a Twitter user identified as @thereisnosignall featuring Wizkid and Jamaican act, Vybz Kartel, during the 2020 Coronavirus lockdown, the singer noted that he doesn’t like the way people regard Wizkid’s fans, popularly known as Wizkid FC.

The self styled African giant jokingly complained about the hype and the influence of Wizkid’s fanbase.

“Come, I don’t like the way dem dey regard this Wizkid FC, yes na, cos dem too dey wamba, dem dey lace me, dem dey pride sometimes. Nna i no like the way dem dey hail Wizkid FC like that, e dey pain me.” He said.
