A 300l student of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Calabar campus, identified as Ford Moses, has been murdered in cold blood by suspected armed robbers.
The incident reportedly happened near the school administrative building, few metres away from the security post on Thursday night, June 3.
According to reports, Moses saw a three-man gang robbing a female student of her smart phone so he intervened.
It was gathered that the student of Visual Art Department chased after the thieves who had succeeded in stealing the phone in a bid to retrieve it.
In an unfortunate turn of events, they stabbed him multiple times with a dagger and he bled to death.
Moses died twenty minutes later while being rushed to a nearby hospital by his colleagues, Cross River Watch reports.
Two of the suspects have been nabbed by the UNICROSS security while one is on the run.

A viral video shows the moment the UK police were called in to intervene after members of a UK-based Nigerian church clashed over stolen funds.
The church members got into a fierce verbal quarrel within the church premises that led to the police being invited.
In the video shared online, the police could be seen leading the accused women to their vehicle as other church members mocked and insulted them.

The heart of Phumela Jako is currently filled with joy as she’s finally achieved an academic feat in a journey she started since 2003.

A Nigerian Makeup artist has shared the unusual encounter she had with a bride and her church’s rules.
According the make up artist, she went through the stress of “doing a very nice makeup” for her client but the church did not approve of it, and as such, she was asked to take it off.

Ghanaian Actress and former AIDS Ambassador, Joyce Dzidzor Mensah is trending on social media after she tested positive for HIV on Facebook live.
The actress went public with the test to prove to Ghanaians that she is not a carrier of the disease, but it ended badly as the test came back positive.
According to reports from Ghanaian media, Mensah admitted to being HIV-positive in 2019 but following attacks and stigmatization, she repeatedly denied having the virus.
To further clear doubting Thomases, Joyce stormed Ghana from Germany to undergo the test. She held a press conference which was attended by several media houses and took the test in their presence.
While addressing the newsmen, she said,
“The purpose of his gathering is to clear all doubt and officially apologise on certain things that happened during my time as Ghana AIDS Ambassador. So many things went wrong and I have seen where I fell short so I decided to fly all the way from Germany to make sure I contribute to ending this issue. I am only here to right the wrongs”
When the results came out, she tested positive for the virus while her kids – one boy and one girl – tested negative.
The family took a test at one Cocoa Clinic in Ghana before the live testing and both results confirmed that she is HIV positive.

A young lady identified as Olajide Omowumi Blessing, a student of the University of Illorin, was brutally raped and murdered by unknown persons at her sister’s residence in Tanke area of the Ilorin, Kwara State.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, said the deceased was found naked with her two hands tied to the back and mouth gagged on Tuesday, June 1.
“The deceased stayed with her elder sister. The elder sister came back from work at about 6:00 pm on Tuesday June 1, saying that she had tried severally to reach her on phone but couldn’t as the phone kept ringing. She came back from work to meet the door of her apartment locked and couldn’t gain entry despite repeated knocks on the door. She then called some neighbours who helped to break open the door.”
“They all met the deceased lying dead on the floor when they entered with her two hands tied to the back, and her mouth gagged. She was met naked, bruises were noticed on her private part, her mouth was covered among others
“Also, a note said to have been written on a piece of paper was placed on her chest containing a message, “Unilorin doesn’t forgive.” The people later informed the police at F’ Division Police Station, who discovered the dead body, snapped the picture, and took the corpse to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) for autopsy.”
The PPRO said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Bagega, has directed immediate investigation and arrest of the attackers.

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, has said corps members can be quickly trained in the time of war because they are part of the national defence policy.
The NYSC boss said this when he appeared on Channels TV in his reaction to plans by some lawmakers to scrap the NYSC scheme which is compulsory for all Nigerian students who graduate before the age of 30.
The DG said;
“Corps members are on reserve. They are part of the national defence policy of this country. So, where there is serious war, our corps members are educated, they are knowledgeable and they can be trained. You see the drill and so on.
“You can imagine within the short three weeks in the orientation camps, the corps members are moulded. They are like soldiers. You see female corps members blowing the army horn, playing with the military band.
“So, if not for the knowledge, where are you going to mobilise such young Nigerians to train them quickly to put in their best for the country? So, corps members are on reserve. They are also part of the national defence policy.”

Popular Nigerian businesswoman, Sophia Momodu has called out staff of a popular Lagos supermarket for invading her privacy.
According to the mother of one, she was at the supermarket with her daughter, Imade for grocery shopping when one of the staff touched her and another started taking random pictures of her and Imade without her permission.

A Brazilian comedian who was clothed in a Superman costume was hit by a bus while performing a stunt on May 30th.
Luiz Ribeiro de Andrade with nickname, Superman, attempted to film himself pretending to stop a bus in the Brazilian municipality of Barra dos Coqueiros.
The 35-year-old is seen in a now viral video standing in the middle of the road, dressed in Superman costume, while a bus comes speeding straight towards him.
Instead of leaving the road, he raises his and tries to pretend he was stopping the bus, probably hoping the bus would stop without hitting him. He was however struck by the bus and he fell forward in shock.
Despite his stunt failing, Luiz, who seemed unhurt, is seen calmly walking down the road afterwards.

American rapper, Lil Uzi Vert, has finally removed the 11-carat pink diamond reportedly worth $24 million encrusted on his forehead.
It can be recalled that the rapper made headlines in February after he revealed he got a custom diamond implanted in his head, after saving up for it for years.
However, barely a day after showing off the diamond implant, he revealed he started bleeding from the fresh piercing and hinted that he might get the diamond removed from his forehead.

Olusegun Obasanjo has lamented over the current state of the country and he says it is flowing with “bitterness and sadness” following the challenges of insecurity and economic instability.
The former President made the remark while Speaking at the unveiling of a book authored by Femmy Carrena in his honour and titled “The Man, The General, The President” on Thursday June 3, Obasanjo noted that Nigeria has been destined to lead the black race but “failure of leadership” has impeded the country from taking its place in the comity of developed nations.
In his words ;
“My prayer is that all of us particularly in this country and now is that we will have something to contribute to make this country to the making of what God has created it to be; a land flowing with milk and honey.
“Right now, it is a land flowing with bitterness and sadness. That is not what God wants this country to be.
“We must change the narrative. We must talk to ourselves in the civilized language.
“Anywhere you go in this country that you will not see a genius in any section of the country.
“So, for what reason should we look down on ourselves or others except we are not human beings.”
