Today marks 2 years since the kidnap of the over 200 girls kidnapped from the Chibok Secondary School in Borno State. Yesterday, CNN published a video sent to the government by the terrorist group, Boko Haram, as ‘proof of life’. The 2-minute clip was reportedly recorded on December 25, 2015, and had about 15 girls respond to questions about their school, where they were taken and the date of recording, before they made a plea.

Much has been written about the kidnap of the girls, the reign of the group and the victims displaced from their communities, but the horror of having over 200 girls at the mercy of the terrors, whose reign has led to the death of over 1,500 people, leaves the mind numb.

And that’s the horror today expressed on social media by Nigerians and other people of the world who have refused to forget the young students; the girls’ only crime was that they wanted to attend school.
