The 44-year-old emergency room doctor who works at the University of Florida Health Leesburg Hospital, was said to have slapped the patient using her own hands because he believed she was faking a seizure.

He was taken into police custody on Wednesday, February 19, after being accused of possible battery. It was gathered that the victim, two registered nurses, and a hospital director, made statements against him and he was subsequently charged with three counts of battery.

According to the police, the victim also appeared to have suffered “a serious facial wound, swelling, redness, and bruising to her left eye.”

While making a comment on the incident, the victim said she could not speak or stop Nwabuko from controlling her hands because she was semi conscious.

“She tried to stop him but was unable to speak or resist the force he was using. He continued to beat her harder and harder until the nurse entered,” the affidavit read. “She said he was laughing and mocking her for faking a seizure.”

Nwabuko was arrested and processed at the Lake County Jail in Tavares following the incident.

However, he was released after posting a bond of $3,000 (about N1.7 million). He will be arraigned on court on March 3.
