Nollywood actress and movie producer, Ruth Kadiri, has spoken on why she believes “one Nigeria” might be a myth and impossible to achieve.
Thespian, in a post she shared via her Insta-stories, said until the country’s constitution is reviewed and excesses curbed, Nigeria cannot be one.
This comes after a female student, said to be a Christian, was brutally killed in Sokoto for alleged blasphemy. Deborah Samuel’s death sparked outrage and varying reactions on social media.
While the majority berated the mob action, others, including Jamil Abubakar, the son of former IGP, Muhammad Abubakar, justified the killing, noting that the punishment for blasphemy is death.
“In Islam we respect the Injil, Taura, Zabur, we were never taught to disrespect any of the book, or any of the prophets From Adam to Muhammad SAW & the Quran. The punishment for Blasphemy is DEATH! in most religions including Christian. Respect Peoples religion it’s simple!” Jamil wrote.
Reacting, Kadiri noted that the leaders hands are tied and the whole constitution of the country are a mess, making it impossible for a truly one Nigeria to emerge
“One Nigeria can truly not work, except these excesses can boldly and truly be checked. The country’s constitution is a mess. The leaders’ hands are tied. If we cannot find laws that stand above religion. Then it’s best we both go our separate ways.” She wrote.
