Nigeria’s transgender and activist, Habeeb Lawal known also as Noni Salma, had a chat with Young Africa Media where “he/she” talked about “his/her” transitioning.
“He/She” opens up on the pains, the discrimination, the pressure of trying to be what you are and how she wished she transitioned at age 19.
Below is an excerpt from what she told Young Africa Media;
“My 20’s was just full of emptiness. The only regret I have is that I wish I transitioned way early. I wish I transitioned when I was 19 and in Nigeria but I didn’t know anything about that. I wish I did that over the years that I spent disturbing myself. I spent time trying to be this person , you pretending, I mean so much acting, forming …that was just too much “
