According to him, what women consider to be a systematic gender repression by men was a form of cover and consideration. He furthers to break down his point numerically.
First was voting. It is popular knowledge that the first wave of feminism sprung from the “fight” for women rights to vote as men, but according to him, voting then was not a right but a responsibility: only those who owned properties, paid heavy taxes, held public offices or those drafted to d!e in war —100% of people dying in war were men; you couldn’t vote for men to go to war while you sat in the safety of your home.
Another point he raised was property coverture. This is when a woman’s property is controlled by her husband. This he claimed was not st3aling as tagged, but apparent because their was only one tax filling per household. Thus the wife’s property was merged under the husband who was legally responsible for her. This also meant that if the wife got sued, the husband paid, if she owed, he paid, and if he couldn’t he was sent to prison.
Next to that was the controversy that men controlled women’s’ bodies. He claimed that before now there were no ab0rtion pills, no c0nd0ms that worked, government money to raise a child as a single mother or even jobs for women to survive on. With these, the woman bore the risk of dy!ng during child birth, so it was safer that women kept their v!rginity until marriage.
