The Nigerian Police Complaint Response Unit has stated that in spite of the widely held belief, bail is actually free in Nigeria. This stance was made known in a sensitization drive on social media, Police CRU tweeted:
“Bail is free. You are not expected to pay for bail. Women are equally eligible to stand surety.”
To make the police force more accessible to the citizens, Police CRU have developed multiple means of communication including Whatsapp, Twitter, Facebook and BBM.
