A distraught mother has begged the Lagos state government to help rescue her daughter trapped in the ruins of the Ikoyi 21-storey building collapse.

The woman in an interview with Channels TV, identified her daughter as, Zainab Oyindamola and stated that she has been in the rubble since the building collapsed on Monday, November 1st.

According to her, her daughter, a 25-year-old IT student came out of the site shortly before the collapse to buy food.

Speaking on how she knew her daughter is in the rubble, she said that it was the food vendors who confirmed to her that Zainab was in the building when it collapsed as she returned back to the site after buying food from them.

Meanwhile, an official of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Ibrahim, has stated that voices have been heard from under the rubbles of the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos state on Monday, November 1.

Ibrahim in an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday morning, November 2 noted that efforts are being made to rescue the people whose voices have been heard underground.

“Yesterday night we were able to recover another body. We now have five alive, four dead. We had a little break of about one to two hours. By the time we woke up, we were hearing voices underground and that is what we are now trying to do. The heavy weight on top, we want to bring them down to get to them. We have isolated their locations already and we are trying to get to them”. He said.
