“Everybody go collect”- Netizens Reacts As Power Failure Delays Senate Sitting In Abuja’s Red Chamber (VIDEO)

In a momentary setback today, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Nigerian Senators were forced to postpone the start of their session due to a power outage in the red chamber of Abuja.

The unavailability of electricity momentarily disrupted their plans until power was eventually restored, allowing the lawmakers to convene and commence the day’s plenary session as planned.

This incident shows the ongoing challenges faced by the Abuja Electricity Distribution PLC, which had previously issued a warning in February regarding the disconnection of electricity supply to 86 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) owing a collective debt of N47.1 billion.

Among the affected MDAs are notable entities such as the Ministry of Finance, Information, Budget, Works and Housing, various barracks, Nigeria Police Force facilities, the Presidential Villa, the office of the CBN Governor, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and state liaison offices in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
