A man has called off his wedding after his fiancée gave ₦2.4M intended for their wedding to her pastor.
The couple had decided to make individual contributions in view of their traditional wedding. Each month the man dropped the sum of ₦200k while the girlfriend dropped ₦50k. They both agreed that the money should be in the girlfriend’s savings account being that the man is a spender.
A month to the introduction, he called her so she could withdraw money to get items for the event, but she gave him excuses. He later found out that she had given 2.4M out of the money to her pastor to get a car.

To adding salt to injury, the boyfriend had earlier warned her to stay away from that particular pastor because the man had advised her against getting married to him. “I think the wedding was later called off”, the writer said.

The story has stirred reactions from X-users online:
@D_1Saint One thing I know is that a man who’s not responsible enough to save his own money on his own isn’t responsible enough to get married. Both the guy and the girl are b@d market.
@OlarindeOlufemi Never give your money to anybody whether spouse, siblings, parents, friends or family for safekeeping. That’s what banks are meant for. It will cost you nothing to open a piggy account for your savings. Use the bank to avoid stories that touch.
@K9Kugo I won’t only call the wedding off, I’ll arrest both her and her pastor. Dem dey ment for head
