On Saturday, 25th of February 2023, millions of Nigerians stepped out of their houses to exercise their civic responsibility at respective polling units to decide who they think should lead the country for the next four, maybe eight years?

Said to be Nigeria’s most competitive election to date, a lot has happened since voting kicked off in the early hours of Saturday morning across the country.

According to the Inaugural National Election Commission, 94 million citizens registered for the election; no fewer than 87.2 million of this 94 million collected their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and were eligible to vote.

4:11 a.m: INEC declare Bola Tinubu of the ALL Progressive Congress (APC) winner of the 2023 presidential election.
APC had a total of 8,805,655 votes, while LP polled 6,098,798 and PDP received 6,984,520 votes.

1:13 a.m: Labour Party win’s Imo state with 360,495 votes.

12:50 a.m: APC wins Rivers state with 231,591 votes.

12:42 a.m: APC’s Tinubu wins Borno State with a total of 252,282 votes

12:32 a.m. March 1: PDP’s Atiku wins Taraba state with 189,017 votes.

10:39 p.m. National collation centre took a 40-minute break. 

10:29 p.m. Labour Party’s Peter Obi win Anambra state with 584,621 votes.

10:14 p.m. Peter Obi Labour wins Ebonyi state with 259,738 votes.

10:01 p.m. Peter Obi wins Delta State with 341,866 votes.

9:50 p.m: Labour Party’s Peter Obi takes the win in Cross River state with a total of 179,917 votes.

6:55 p.m: INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu declared a two-hour break. 

6:50 p.m: The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku wins in Sokoto State with 288,679 votes.

6:40 p.m: APC’s Tinubu wins Zamfara State with 298,396 votes.

6:27 p.m: The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, took the win in Kano State with 997,279 votes.

6:25 p.m: PDP’s Atiku wins in Kebbi with 285,175 votes

6:00 p.m: Atiku wins Kaduna with 554,360 votes.

6:00 p.m: The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku emerged winner in Bayelsa State with a total of 68,818 votes.

5:55 p.m: Labour Party’s Peter Obi wins Plateau State with 466,272 votes

5:49 p.m: The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku wins Bauchi State with 426,607 votes.

5:39 p.m: APC’s Tinubu wins Kogi State with 240,751 votes.

5:29 p.m: The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi wins Abia State with 327,095 votes.

5:20 p.m: Labour Party’s Peter Obi wins Edo State with 331,163 votes.

5:10 p.m: The presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku takes the win in Akwa Ibom with 214,012 votes.

5:00 p.m: Labour Party’s Peter Obi wins Abuja with 281,717 votes.

4:59p.m:Bola Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, won Benue State with 310,468 votes, defeating Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who received 308,372 votes and others. 

4:41 p.m: APC’s Tinubu wins Niger State with 375,183 votes

2:00 p.m: INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, again adjourned the collation of results until 3:30 p.m.

12:01 p.m. Tuesday, February 28: INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, announced that the collation of results will resume at 2 p.m.

10:10 pm: National Collation Centre adjourns until 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 28.

10:00 p.m: The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, had the highest votes of 191,361 in Nasarawa State.

9:30 p.m: PDP’s Atiku wins Katsina State with 489,045 votes.

9:00 p.m: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, emerged winner in his home state, Adamawa with a total of 417,611 votes.

8:30 p.m: The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, polled the highest votes of 421, 390 to take the win in Jigawa State.

6:15 p.m: PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku wins Gombe State with 319,123 votes.

5:30 p.m.: The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, emerged winner in Enugu State with a total of 428,640 votes.

4:50 pm: PDP’s Atiku wins Yobe State with 198,567 votes.

4:49 pm: The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Tinubu took the win in Oyo state with a total of 449,884 votes, while PDP’s Atiku had 182,997 votes.

4:30 p.m: APC’s Tinubu wins Ogun State with 341,554 votes.

1:00 pm: INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu announced a one-hour break, with the collation of results to resume at 2 p.m. 

12:50 pm: APC’s Tinubu defeated Labour Party’s Peter Obi, PDP’s Atiku and others in Ondo state with a total of 369,924 votes.

12:50 pm: The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has won the presidential election in Osun State. Atiku polled 354,366, APC’s Tinubu had 343,945 votes and Peter Obi received a total of 23, 283 votes.

12:14 pm: The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Tinubu won in Kwara state with a total of 263,572 defeating, PDP’s Atiku who received 136,909 votes, Labour Party’s Obi with 31,186 votes and others.

11:00 am: All the results of the 20 local governments have been declared. APC’s Bola Tinubu won in 11 LGAs, while Obi won in nine local government areas. However, Obi had a total of 582,454 votes while Tinubu polled 572,606.

04:41 am: Atiku trumps Tinubu In Buhari’s State, Katsina

Presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar won the presidential election in President Muhammadu Buhari’s state, Katsina.

Abubakar bagged a total of 489,045 to edge out the All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Tinubu who polled 482,283 votes and other candidates.

03:45 am: Results for 18 of 20 Lagos LGAs have been presented so far; Ojo and Alimosho are just the two left.

Collation will resume later in the morning.

3:40 am: The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins in Badagry LGA.
Tinubu had a total of 31,908 votes to defeat Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, who polled 10,956 votes, and others.

INEC had declared 17 local governments as of 3:30 am before the results’ collation was adjourned to 10: 00 am.

So far, Peter Obi of Labour Party has garnered 449,088 votes, while Tinubu has received 416,431 votes.

10:26 pm: Tinubu takes the leads in Katsina State. Results from 28 LGAs have been collated. Out of 11 LGAs announced, Tinubu wins 11, while Atiku takes four.

09:55 pm: Results for four more LGAs (Kirfi, Misau, Katagum, Ganjuwa) are announced in Bauchi with PDP leading other parties in each one.

09:45 pm: The Imo State returning officer announces a break to return by 10:15 pm to give room for more presidential results to come in from LGAs.

09:15 pm: In Imo State, Orsu LGA records only 49 accredited voters out of 36,712 registered voters.

According to the electoral officer, Orsu has been a flashpoint, having had the highest number of killings and attacks in the state.

A lot of ad hoc staff and INEC officials are reported to have refused to go there to conduct elections except those who were courageous enough to go.

09:06 pm: INEC in Cross River State announces State Presidential Election Collation Centre will be declared open by 10 am on Monday, February 27.

09:05 pm: Obi Wins In Ikeja, Tinubu amass Five LGs In Lagos

Labour Party took the win in Ikeja LGA of Lagos State while APC’s Tinubu takes the lead in Lagos Mainland, Epe, Lagos Island, Ibeju Lekki, and Ikorodu LGAs.
