A man has been arrested and is now facing trial in Rivers state for sodomising an orphan boy.

The man was said to have had anal intercourse with the young boy, and as a result the victim is currently lying critically ill in the hospital.

The chairperson of FIDA in Rivers State, Adata Bio-Briggs, who shared the sad news on Facebook on Friday, April 22, said the little one has been bleeding excessively from the anus after being sodomized by the adult man.

“I cannot sleep, I’m worried about our children. As FIDA Rivers Chair. I have a lot of FIDA children, one of my sons (an orphan) is lying critically ill in the hospital, bleeding excessively from the anus after being sodomized by an adult man.

“When will all these crime against children end? Please say a word of prayer for him. He must live. My heart is heavy. Justice must prevail. Postscript- Accused person is facing trial.” He wrote.

In related news, one Ajibola Akindele, 30, was on April 18th apprehended by men of the Ogun state police command for allegedly forcefully having carnal knowledge of a 20-year-old girl right inside a church.

A statement which was released by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi revealed that the suspect was apprehended following a report lodged at Lafenwa divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim, who revealed that she sent her daughter to go and decorate a church at Ita oshin area of Abeokuta together with the suspect on the 16th of April 2022.

“On getting to the church, they met some other women who came to sweep the church in preparation for Sunday service. But soon as those women left after sweeping the church, the suspect allegedly took advantage of being alone with the victim and forcefully had an unlawful carnal knowledge of her right inside the church.

Upon the report, the DPO Lafenwa division, CSP Kayode Shadrach, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and bring him to justice. He said the detectives quickly moved into the scene and promptly arrested the suspect who have since confessed to the crime.” the statement read

Oyeyemi went on to add that the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti-human trafficking and child labor unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
