“Most Nigerians won’t like Canada because it’s too boring” – US-based Nigerian man

A US-based Nigerian man has stirred reactions online following his shocking revelation about Canada.

According to the young man identified as Femi while many Nigerians are striving to relocate to the North-America country, they may not like it there when they eventually move, because of how boring it is.

Taking to the micro-blogging platform Twitter, Femi who lives in Maryland, USA stated that Canada is more boring than the United Kingdom.

In his words,

”Most Nigerians won’t like Canada when they go there. Its actually more boring than the UK.”

Corp member cries out after she was allegedly beaten by principal over request for rejection letter (Video)

A female corps member has taken to social media to call out the principal of a popular school in Ogun state, where she was posted to for her primary assignment, for allegedly assaulting her.

According to the young lady, she was posted to a private school in Ogun state for her compulsory one year National youth service, but on getting there she pleaded with the principal to give her a rejection letter.

In a video she shared online, the corps member alleged that this got the principal angry and he went on to beat her. She claimed that he forcefully took her letter from her bag and even laid his hands on her while other staff supported his actions.

A Facebook blogger @Everythingperry who shard the video on the platform wrote,

“A fresh corp member who was posted for her PPA at Marble stone group of school, Abeokuta, Ogun State reported to the school and was abused because she asked for a rejection letter.

Beaten up by the principal of the school and threatened in so many ways imagine! This is very bad and I don’t agree to this act. Please make it go viral people… We choosed to serve our motherland and this is what we get? @Nigerians.”

“I once dated a sugar daddy. He was 67 years old. He used to spoil me with money. One day he requested to come and have a sleepover at my house. That man was a witch.

As we were sleeping, he told me to sleep as tomorrow we were going to have a long day. My dear I prayed for a peaceful and well protected night.

At around 2.am, we went to the toilet. I woke up and saw him with a black and red cloth around his waist. I froze. He just tiptoed near the window and he disappeared.

I couldn’t even shout or move. I stayed still for almost one and half hours when he returned through the window, went straight to the bathroom and came to the bed.

“Mummy are you asleep? I didn’t answer. He slept.

Early in the morning I climbed down from the bed, went to the sitting room and prayed for forgiveness and vowed never to date that man again. He came to the sitting room where I was praying and told me… It’s either I pretend not to have seen what has happened or die”.

Five officers killed as hoodlums attack another police station in Imo

In a new report, five police officers have been confirmed dead after a bunch of hoodlums attacked the Okigwe South Area command on Monday April 26.

The spokesperson of the state’s police command, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, while confirming the incident, said one of the officers is yet to be accounted for. He added that the command’s building wasn’t razed.

The attack comes days weeks after hoodlums stormed the state headquarters as well as the state’s correctional center and released several inmates.

It was reported days ago of how unknown gunmen attacked the country home of Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma in Omuma in Oru East local government area of the state.

The attack was reported to have happened in the early hours of April 24. Two of his security aides were killed by the gunmen who also set the building on fire.

Cars and other valuables in the building as well, were affected as a result of the inferno. Efforts are currently being made to stop the fire.

The Government of Anambra state has imposed curfew on 6 Anambra communities after 9 people were killed and others injured by unknown armed men.

The curfew was imposed on Igbariam, Aguleri, Umueri, Nteje, Awkuzu And Umunya.

According to a statement by Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, the curfew which begins today, Monday, 26th April, 2021, is between 7pm and 6am daily.

The statement advised Anambra indigenes and residents of the state living in these communities to obey the curfew order, as security personnel are on strict orders to enforce the curfew.

Earlier today, it was reported that residents and students in the affected communities were fleeing as they feared for their lives

A Nigerian woman has been left with swollen eyes after her husband allegedly beat her to pulp for starting a business.

Humanitarian, Dr Yolanda George-David shared the heartbreaking story online. According to her, the woman’s husband starts maltreating her and their children whenever she tries to start a business.

In the recent incident, he allegedly locked up her wares in the toilet and when she demanded for the release of the goods, he allegedly beat her up. According to the report, while he was beating her, their dog bit her leg.

Well-meaning neighbors rushed her to the hospital and the swollen eyes is reportedly the side effect of the drugs she was given.

“It is so heartbreaking that a partner …meant to protect her… beat her so bad…just because she insists on doing business…and her eyes are a reaction to medication she was giving after he beat her…

Pandemonium as suspected hoodlums attack LASU, destroy vehicles (photos/video)

A group of suspected hoodlums have reportedly attacked the Lagos State University, main campus, Ojo, along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

According to a report by PUNCH, the hoodlums attacked the school after soldiers in an OP MESA vehicle drove away from the front of the school gate.

This is coming after gunshots were heard around Iyana Oba market which is few meters away from Lagos state university, as a result of an alleged clash between members of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Okada riders.

Following the attack in which vehicles packed in front of the school were destroyed, it was gathered that the OP MESA operatives came back as well as the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad who put an end to the attack.

The RRS operatives also ensured forced back attackers who attempted to breach the perimeter fencing of the school.

A Nigerian lady on Twitter is being lauded on the social networking platform after she shared the savage response she gave to a commercial bike rider “okada man” who referred to her as “ashawo” at a filling station.

The young lady, with the handle, @RitaOnwurah took to her page to share her experience of the words she backfired at the motorcyclist who had the effrontery to call her ‘ashawo‘ (a vulgar slang which means a prostitute)

“The day an okada man called me “ashawo” at a filling station, I just told him: “You’re angry because your father used your school fees to pay for my car. And that’s why you dropped out to be riding okada”

Oko Polytechnic student allegedly stabbed to death by caretaker over water (Photos)

In a rather tragic report, a caretaker of one of the off campus hostels at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, allegedly stabbed a student to death over issues bordering on water supply in the hostel.

The deceased identified as Abuchi, who was an ND2 student of the Department of Public Administration was stabbed on the neck by the caretaker at Currency Lodge on Saturday, April 24.

According to reports surrounding Abuchi’s death, Abuchi and other tenants had gone to caretaker to complain about lack of water in the hostel. The complaint then led to a fight between both parties during which the caretaker stabbed Abuchi.

Abuchi’s killer

Abuchi was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by his lodge mates where he was confirmed dead — the suspect was said to have fled after the student died.

Police officers attached to the Oko Division reportedly arrived the scene in the aftermath of the fight to commence an investigation. The corpse has been deposited in the mortuary.

The Director of Welfare, Student Union Government (SUG) of the institution, who confirmed the incident in a statement, urged students to refrain from taking matters into their hands as the Divisional Police Station Oko is investigating the case.

“The Death of Abuchi, a student of Public Administration Nd2 R2 FedPoly Oko according to an eye witness (Mmachukwu) who lived in the same lodge with the deceased narrated that Abuchi was stabbed by the caretaker who collected the money contributed by the whole tenants of Currency Lodge Oko to pump water on Friday but to their greatest surprise the water didn’t last up to a day so Abuchi and other concerned lodge mates went straight to the lodge caretaker to complain because such a thing had never happened in the lodge,” the statement reads.

“The complaint led to a fight between both parties, the caretaker now had to stab Abuchi after much threats and exchange of words while the said lodge mates rushed him to Chukwunonso Hospital Oko where Abuchi was confirmed dead due to much delay, while the caretaker fled for his life.”

Meanwhile, friends colleagues and family members of the deceased student have taken to Facebook to demand for justice.

One Risi Henry Uchendu has even offered N5m reward for information on the whereabouts of the fleeing suspect. One Uju Edeh said the caretaker will pay dearly for killing her ‘brother.’

“You have touched the lion’s den, justice must be served to my brother for sure, you step on the wrong toes, Abuchi my brother don’t worry he will pay so dearly, the Ifeanya’s are always the lion’s, it hurts me so much am still in so much pain, you will be missed my brother. you have knocked the wrong door” she wrote.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been advised to shut down the country’s international airport for at least 2 weeks after Indian variant of COVID-19 was found in Edo and Osun state.

This advisory was made by the Academy of Medicine Specialties in Nigeria on Sunday, April 25,

According to the President of the Academy, Prof. Oladapo Ashiru, the transmission of the third wave is still active but not at an alarming level.

He also revealed that the academy found five sequences of the India B.1.617 in two states – Edo and Osun state, adding that a new B.1. 1.318 variant with major characteristics of other VOCs that emerged in Nigeria in January was already causing havoc in Mauritius.

“The B. 1. 525 that we discovered in Nigeria late last year is now the dominant variant in Nigeria (spreading faster than the UK B.1.1.7). This lineage is also spreading at a super-fast speed in the UK and other European countries.

The B.1.525 is now also the second most popular variant in Africa after the B.1.351Y V2 from South Africa. These are our most recent findings at ACEGID, Redeemer’s University, Ede,” he explained.

He went on to advise the Government to close the international airports for at least 2 weeks, stressing that the third wave is already affecting India, France, Germany and Italy.

He pointed out that the ongoing transmission is caused by those inbound passengers from India and other countries with a spike in the daily cases.

According to Prof. Ashiru, many of the passengers came into Nigeria through “indirect” flights. He, then, called on the FG to take proactive actions to prevent a third wave in Nigeria.

“Nigeria cannot afford to have a third wave. Only a small percentage of the population has been vaccinated. Furthermore, all the theories speculated for our immunity such as heat, sun, and other endemic immunities also apply to India,” he said.

The Nigerian Air Force has stated that it will be investigating claims that its officers killed soldiers thinking they were Boko Haram members.

A video was uploaded on Twitter and has since, served rounds on the platform — it shows a soldier in the North East, alleging that army personnel were attacked by an Air Force coordinated airstrike in Mainok, Maiduguri after they were mistaken for Boko Haram terrorists.

Reacting to the viral video, the Air Force in a series of tweets posted on its official handle, stated that it is investigating the alleged incident and that the general public will be duly updated as soon as the investigation is concluded.

The tweet reads,

“The attention of the @NigAirForce has been drawn to reports alleging “How NAF Killed over 20 Nigerian Army Personnel by Accident in Air Strike” at Mainok which is about 55km to Maiduguri.

The NAF wishes to state that visuals and reports been circulated are currently being investigated and the general public will be duly updated on the alleged incident.

All enquiries should please be directed to the Office of the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force.”

A lady, supposedly Nigerian has shared how she gave her ex-lover the sum of N300k which was initially given to her from her current fiancé to deposit for drinks for their upcoming wedding.

According to the lady, whose story was shared by Facebook user, Diamond Ivory, she received a call from her ex boyfriend demanding for money, saying he will pay her back soon, so she sent him her wedding money.

However, after she sent it, he refused to pay back and rather, asked her to sleep with him for the last time if she really wants the money.

“My husband sent me money to deposit for drinks prior to our upcoming wedding next Saturday. My ex called me to lend him money that he will pay back the next day. So I lent him the N300k. He didn’t send it and started threatening me that I must sleep with him for the last time before he gives me the money. I already told my husband that I paid for the deposit. Should I give in to the demands or involve the police”.

Ghastly motor accident in Edo, claim lives of nine people who were returning from a wedding

Nine wedding guests reportedly died in a ghastly road accident in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, over the weekend.

It was gathered that the victims were on their way from the wedding of a close friend in Benin City when the accident which took their lives happened.

According to viral reports, there were 10 passengers in the commercial bus and only one person survived while the other nine died.

It was said that a truck collided with their bus at Ekpon Junction in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.

The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Henry Benamaisia, who confirmed the unfortunate incident said five persons died instantly while three others in critical condition were rushed to the hospital.

“Five died on the spot, while three were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. I will still need to get an update from the hospital on the state of those that were taken there, but I can confirm that five died instantly. I will have to reconfirm the latest position from the hospital and get back to you,” Benamaisia said.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness identified as Funsho Alegbe said the only survivor is a man known as ‘DJ Nasco,’ and was rushed to the intensive care unit of Shillo Hospital, Ewohimi, while the bodies of the nine persons who died at the scene had been deposited in the mortuary.

Alegbe said the truck driver escaped from the accident scene to avoid being lynched, but irate youths in the area set the truck ablaze.

In his words,

“The guests were on their way to the wedding venue when the fatal accident happened. The deaths destabilised the wedding event as the couple who were already on the dancing floor heard the cry and wailing of other guests at the wedding venue when the news of the accident broke out. The wedding reception ended abruptly, but not without the traditional dowry for the bride’s family.”

Uti took to Twitter to share his assertion. According to him, the logical reaction to a topic someone despises is to completely ignore it, but that is not the case of Nigerians.

He pointed out that even though Nigerians condemn sexual liberation, they are always quick to jump on sex-related matters on social media.

Unknown gunmen have attacked and burnt down the palace of Igwe Ifitedunu in Dunukofia local government area of Anambra State.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the palace in early hours of Monday, April 26, and set the building ablaze.

This comes barely 48 hours after some unknown gunmen attacked the country home of Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma in Omuma in Oru East local government area of the state.

The attack is reported to have happened in the early hours of today, April 24. Two of his security aides were killed by the gunmen who also set the building on fire.

Cars and other valuables in the building as well, were affected as a result of the inferno. Efforts are currently being made to stop the fire.

The attack comes after Uzodinma paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari regarding the security crisis in the state.

He had claimed that the crimes committed are sponsored by politicians who are against his administration.
