Kidnappers kill US-based Nigerian Man after payment of N10m ransom

Kidnappers have killed a US-based Nigerian man, Prince Eloniyo Dennis Abuda, after payment of N10m ransom to secure his release and that of other family members.

Abuda’s decomposing body was found in a bush near the small town of Agbanikaka, Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, February 2, four days after he was kidnapped.

The businessman who came into the country for the Christmas celebration was abducted alongside some family members on Saturday, January 30, 2021, along the Benin-Akure road on his way to Lagos from Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government near Agbanikaka.

A woman who was travelling with him to Lagos to catch a flight back to the United States was also kidnapped.

According to a family source, the realtor and president of Fugar America Foundation was reportedly shot dead by the kidnappers after he slumped during the forced long march to the forest.

“Prince Abuda was shot dead by the abductors when he couldn’t walk anymore and slumped. The kidnappers didn’t want to leave him behind as they were afraid that he will reveal their hideout to security agencies and so decided to shoot him.” the source told Tribune.

The corpse has been deposited at an undisclosed hospital in Edo State, pending burial arrangements by the family.

In the video it appears the “victim” was partying with a group of people when one of them tactically slipped something into his drink.

Something was sprayed in the man’s eyes to distract him, while he battled to open his eyes his drink had already been laced.

In other news, A Nigerian man has shared screenshot of a message he got from a cab driver who refused to return his brownies, after he forgot them in his car.

A Twitter user, @thatsickdude who shared the story on the platform revealed he boarded a cab and forgot his cake in the car. He later begged the driver to return the brownies but he refused.

The driver later ate the cake which unknown to him was laced with marijuana.

From the message sent to Twitter user, the cab driver begged for forgiveness after eating the laced cake and complained of “strange sleep.”

Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo has taken to social media to appreciate God for saving his life from a helicopter crash two years ago.

Recall that on the 2nd of February 2019, the politician alongside eleven others narrowly escaped death after they were involved in a helicopter crash in Kogi state.

The Vice President remembered the incident today, February 3rd, and expressed his deep gratitude to God for overturning the outcome of the accident.

Renowned Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Adichie, has revealed why she stopped attending Catholic churches in Nigerian.

She revealed this in an exclusive interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio earlier in the year.

Speaking in the interview, the 43-year-old writer explained that she does not attend Catholic churches in Nigeria because activities became “way too much” about money, fundraising, and thanksgiving.

She also revealed that she considers herself a Catholic, but is truly agnostic and questioning.

In her words,

“Nigerian Catholicism is way too much about money, fundraising, and thanksgiving. Some in the east even look at who’s wearing gold. I think the focus of religion should be things Nigerian Catholicism doesn’t focus on.

“I grew up Catholic. Catholicism was very important to me. It‘s almost like a culture, not just a religion. So even if you leave the Catholic Church, it’s in you. Today, I don’t like to talk about religion because I don’t know.

“I think of myself as agnostic and questioning. Catholicism holds you tight. There are many other protestant denominations that are not so. It’s all-inclusive. ‘You cannot eat before mass. You have to go to confession.’

“There are so many rules. It teaches you guilt in a way that I don’t think so many protestant denominations do. I’m Catholic, nominally. I still feel protective of some things about the Catholic Church. But I don’t attend it in Nigeria.”

Photographer narrates how he was assaulted by Policemen in an unlicensed bus in Ibadan

An Ibadan-based photographer, identified as Victor, has taken to Twitter to narrate how he was assaulted by policemen in an unlicensed bus.

According to him, he was driving from the University of Ibadan to an area called Vine Branch in the state when he noticed that he was being tailed by a white bus.

In his defense, he said he thought the occupants of the bus were armed robbers so he sped off. Unfortunately, when he was close to his destination, he had to slow down, which made them catch up with him.

He said he was physically assaulted and harrassed by the men, who later identified themselves as police officials.

He added that he was whisked off in their bus, and later released after they had thoroughly searched him and found nothing.

“I was heading from University of Ibadan to Vine branch area to give a Camera lens to a friend. I was along Agodi road when I realized there was a white bus with no police tag following me bumper to bumper.

My normal security senses prompted me to speed off and give a distance ensuring the bus did not see a chance to overtake and double cross. They could be robbers

Right along the vine branch road I decided to slow down and the next thing is the bus double crossed , with about 6 men jumping out of the vehicle . I just realized they may have been the police after I saw about 2 of the 6 men in uniforms .

They rushed at my vehicle and hit it with intentions to break in. I unlocked the vehicle, got down and the next thing is one rushed at me and slapped me on both sides of my face

I was so confused. What did I do?. One exclaimed “Why are you running?”

I am running because an unknown white vehicle is chasing me ! Damn it ! Do you think I will not stop if police was written on the bus?!
These guys threw me in the bus and two supposed officers without uniform got into my vehicle.

They took my phones and started asking questions. I was asked to unlock my phones.

They turned around and headed towards Jericho . I practically told them the whole story of my life even down to where my parents worked . I told them I just finished from UI, I told them I am a photographer and they believed nothing.

One asked how many accounts I got ,another asked for my Gmail. They even asked how I came about the money to purchase my vehicle. What the hell?!!!! After searching through the trip and they found nothing . They parked both vehicles in front of DStv office Jericho.

The so called “Head of Operation” looked at me and said “Say the truth now or we will go and run your phone through forensics!” . I told them there’s nothing else to say after I have said nothing but the truth. They handed my license and ID cards to me and asked me to go”

Popular Nigerian comic actor, Onyebuchi Ojieh better known as Buchi has reacted to a viral video of his wife, Rukky being arrested by the police.

The comedian’s wife, Rukky was arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Force, after she allegedly harassed the estate security personnel and vandalized items which she was charged N700,000 for by the estate, but she and her husband reportedly refused to pay for.

It was gathered that Rukky was arrested following the altercation on the charges of assault and vandalism.

However, the comedian has now reacted to the allegations levied against his wife, describing the incident as a gang up against his wife. He noted that although she was taken to the police station, he was able to get her out before the next morning.

Narrating what led to the altercation, Buchi stated that the issue began after his younger brother fought the estate security who harassed his niece.

He alleged that after he informed the estate management that he will be suing them after being fined, his power supply was cut off.

Buchi said after his wife went to the estate chairman’s house and demanded that the power supply be restored, residents of the association ganged up against his wife, and destroyed her vehicle.

In an exclusive interview with PUNCH, he was quoted saying,

“I would not want to go into it but I will just want to say that all the allegations are lies. We had an altercation with the estate because one of the security men beat up my niece. My younger brother fought the guy and they fined us. I disagreed because we needed to go into the reason for the altercation; the security people harassed a tenant. They should not fine me because my younger brother defended my niece as I was not around when it happened. They fined us and I said that is not right.

“I initiated legal action and I informed the estate that I will take the matter to court. They said that since I was taking the estate to court, they will not provide power. I am not around and I had already told my wife not to make any trouble with them. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic courts are not sitting so we cannot institute any action. I have a ten-year-old daughter and the heat was getting unbearable for her so my wife went to demand that they should give restore the power, that was part of the video online, this led her to go to the estate association president’s house.

“I think what really caused the problem was that she went to the estate association president’s house and she said that she and her children were not going to leave until they restored the power. That was what caused everything. In the process of trying to eject her, they got into an altercation. My younger brother had to step in. The president cried foul to the members of the association and it turned to a mob and they started manhandling my wife. They went ahead to destroy her car. I have video evidence. I am asking, what did her car do to them? Currently, I am not around but I have been making calls. They took her to the police station but I was able to get her out last night. My wife never embarrassed me in public. She did not sleep at the police station. It was a gang up against my wife.”

Dangote’s ex-girlfriend, Autumn Spikes allegedly evicted from U.S. apartment for owing 6 months rent

Aliko Dangote’s alleged sidechick, Autumn Spikes, has allegedly been evicted from her North Miami apartment in Florida, U.S., for owing six months rent in 2020.

According to Premium Times, Ms Spikes and Mr Dangote were secretly dating for almost 10 years before the billionaire broke off their relationship and sued her for allegedly trying to extort $5million from him.

It was gathered that Ms Spikes accumulated rent arrears amounting to $13,230 for the months of March to August 2020, despite being in a relationship with the billionaire.

Ms Spikes neither paid off the debt nor vacated her apartment number 1708.

Reports have it that after the expiration of the 30-day notice issued to her, the Landlord, filed an evixtion suit against her at a Miami Dade County court, in Florida, on September 19, 2020, which resulted in her lawful eviction from the apartment.

Man accused of raping and trying to pluck out a woman’s eyes caught in Akure (graphic video)

A viral video captured the moment a man accused of raping a woman and trying to pluck out her eyes in Akure, was paraded by villagers.

The footage, shared online by lawyer and political activist Esq. Cole, shows residents of Olatuyi in Akure beating the naked man, who is said to be from the Northern part of Nigeria.

In the graphic video, the rape victim is seen lying naked on the floor with her leg’s apart and her alleged attacker kneeling beside her, with blood on the floor.

She appeared weak, helpless and unable to move, while a mob gathered round trying to interrogate the suspect.

Those speaking in the video are heard saying the man raped the woman and was in the process of removing her eyes when he was caught.

As at the time of filing this report, it is unknown if the victim was taken to the hospital and the attacker arrested by the police.

Barber allegedly arrested for giving customers haircuts that ‘insults Islam’ in Kano

A young barber, Elijah Ode, has allegedly been arrested in Kano for giving his customers haircuts considered to be “blasphemous to the Islamic religion”.

According to a Facebook user, Smith Akoko, who shared the story on the platform, Elijah was arrested last Wednesday after two of his customers were tortured in the state over their haircut.

Smith alleged that the innovative young barber was arraigned in court on Tuesday, February 2nd.

In a lengthy Facebook post, he wrote,

“Elijah Ode, a resident of Kano from Adum East, Obi LGA of Benue State, who combines barbing with studies and is domicile in the Sabon Gari town of the state was reported to have been in the net of Islamic religious extremists, who believe he has committed blasphemy in the cause of his work as barber.

Report says Elijah, who is well patronized by young people for possessing exceptional skills in trendy haircuts, attracted the wrath of the extremists last week Wednesday when two of his customers were tortured to stupor for designs claimed to be blasphemous to the Islamic religion.

Thereupon, Elijah was traced to his barbershop, where he was arrested for complicity, and has been in Police detention with the two customers since last week.

According to information obtained from his cousin, Mr Sunday Ukenya, the young barber did not design the hairstyles with the intention to provoke. He said he was only being innovative doing his work as usual to eke a living and pay his fees at his tertiary institution of study in Kano, where he sponsors himself.

Ukenya also added that the case is already in the court of law at the wish of the aggrieved Muslims with first session being yesterday. He expressed sadness, however, that all efforts by the young barber’s lawyer to bail him proved abortive for the claim that it is a major case and is as a result not bailable.

At the moment, the family has run out of hope, soliciting intercessory prayers as the reality of incarceration stares Elijah in the face. Bauchi Hisbah confiscates 260 crates of alcoholic drinks from hotels, nightclubs

The Bauchi State Hisbah command has seized 260 crates of alcoholic drinks from hotels and night clubs in the state.

According to the permanent commissioner in charge of Hisbah and Sharia, Malam Aminu Balarabe Isah the alcoholic drinks were confiscated to enforce Sharia Islamic code.

Isah made this known on Tuesday, February 2nd while displaying the confiscated drinks at the premises of the state Sharia commission in Bauchi.

He disclosed that 216 crates were confiscated in Misau local government area and 44 in Bauchi club and some beer parlours located in Dass park in Bauchi metropolis.

“We will continue to beam our searchlight to unravel perpetrators of such misdemeanors” . He said.

Isah revealed the department would soon seek for a court order to destroy the items, as the subsisting Sharia law which was implemented in 2003 has unequivocally prohibits sales and consumption of alcoholic drinks.

The Commissioner explained that no fewer than six operators of beer parlors were arrested during the patrol and they would soon be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

He appealed to the state government to hasten the appointment of the state Hisbah Board, as well as provide additional financial and logistics support to the department.

A Businessman identified as Ufuoma Tony has taken to his Twitter page to cry out after the dispatch rider he employed absconded with his bike.

Ufuoma Tony said the dispatch rider who gave his name as Joseph Emmanuel, began work on Tuesday, Feb 2, but hours later, he switched off his phone, disabled the tracker on the bike, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since then.

Nigerian music executive, Ubi Franklin, has displayed his emotional side as he breaks down in tears after being surprised on his 35th birthday.

The entrepreneur and TV show host turned 35 on Tuesday, February 2, and he took to social media to share classy photos of himself.

He also paid a tribute to his late twin brother in an heartfelt message.

In his words;

“REST IN PEACE TO MY TWIN BROTHER WHO COULDN’T SEE 35 YEARS ON EARTH… I AM GRATEFUL TO BE HERE. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME”.

Fans and colleagues of the celebrity took to social media to celebrate him on his special day, however, the highlight of his day was when a surprise team paid a visit to his home to surprise him with presents.

He was gifted a money tower and customized gift items, while the contracted instrumentalist played emotional tunes, which made the father-of-one tear up.

A Nigerian man has taken to his twitter page to share heartbroken photos of an exhausted child-hawker who slept off at the site where he works.

Sharing the photos, he wrote ;

Saw this kid sleeping right in front of my site on a block besides his banana. Woke him and ask him to go lay inside. He said he just returned from school before asked to hawk.

Award winning Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has opened on why she accepted to marry her husband, JJC Skillz despite baby mama rumours.

The actress in an interview Today’s Woman Magazine, disclosed that after several rumours about her husband she had to turn to God to let his will be done.

According to her, asides leaving her marital life to God, marrying the producer was a decision she made after considering her age and realizing that getting a single man at that stage is almost impossible.

In her words,

“There were rumors on set that he was being bossy. People were saying that he has three baby mamas. They now started this, ‘ Funke settles for less’ talk. I read comments like ‘three children? Baggage or why can’t she just settle with someone single?’ So, I decided to give myself the pep talk.

“I stood in front of the mirror and told myself, you are 39. Which of your mate is a single guy, or which one older than you is single, except he’s a widower or a divorcee at 40? If he’s not married, ogun aye n ba ja (he is battling with terrestrial wars).”

“Abdul – is he bossy? No. you’re together with him always. Abdul is forgiving and that is great! Someone has dealt with Abdul, he has forgiven the person, and he has moved on. He even invited the person on a project, can you imagine?”

“I can be very vindictive, I will give my everything but once you mess up, to correct it is a problem for me, and I’m like for this man to be like this, he’s a good man. His kids are grown, and their mothers are all married, happily married, in their homes!”

“I put it in before God that if it is in thy will for me to marry Abdul, let it work, but if there will be problems, let everyone go in peace. That’s what I told God, it’s you and I leave it to you.”

Recall that the couple got married in a secret wedding ceremony on August 23rd, 2016, in London and have been living happily since then.

Popular Nollywood actor, Chukwuemeka Ani has released a video from his sick bed, asking Nigerians for financial assistance.

The actor, who has starred in many traditional Nigerian movies, said from his hospital bed that the bills are too much and he can no longer foot it alone.

Chukwuemeka Ani said he’s been on admission at the hospital since Dec 7 and a surgery was carried out but his condition got worse after the surgery.

He thanked those who have helped him so far and those intending to help.

Music record label executive, Ubi Franklin’s marriage to Nigerian actress, Lilian Esoro has officially been dissolved.

The marriage between the actress and the TV show host, which held in 2015 was officially dissolved on Thursday January 28th, at an Abuja High Court.

The Duo who share a 4 year old son, Jason together got married in November 2015 and separated about a year after.

Lilian first filed for divorce in a Lagos High Court but it was denied, Ubi Franklin later filed in Abuja and the divorce has now been granted.

This is coming after Ubi Franklin was dragged into an exchange with a follower, who was praying for the restoration of his marriage to Lilian Esoro, who he shares a son with.

According to the follower, the MMMG Boss who has proven to be a good man and Lilian Esoro who is also a wonderful person should forgive each other, and fix their future together.

However Ubi Franklin who reacted to the prayer by his follower, stated that she should pray for money instead since her prayer has not yet been answered.
