I had this conversation with a friend the other day and i was like ; We can talk about how crazy and bad the country is from A-Z but it’s not going to change anything.

The most amazing thing we can do is really empower the youth, in ways one can’t even understand like me being successful, i came from Ojuelegba, i’ve gone through years of immense hard-work and i am here now.

I would love for the young people in Nigeria to see that nothing is impossible. Me, Burna and David are just scratching the surface, the next generation is going to take it to the next level, so keep believing.

”It makes no sense for oil to be cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia.” – President Buhari

Nigeria’s President, Muhammed Buhari, has stated that ”It makes no sense for oil to be cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia”.

The President made this known in his message to Nigerians on the celebration of the county’s 60th Independence Day Anniversary.

Read excerpts from the post below ;

Fellow Nigerians,

I speak to you today as your President and fellow citizen on this epoch occasion of our country’s 60th independence Anniversary.

Fellow Nigerians, to achieve the great country we desire, we need to solidify our strength, increase our commitment and encourage ourselves to do that which is right and proper even when no one is watching.

As a government, we remain committed to our constitutional oath of securing the lives and properties of the citizenry. I, however, call on the citizenry to also support government by providing the necessary community level intelligence in addressing these challenges.

Sixty years of nationhood provides an opportunity to ask ourselves questions on the extent to which we have sustained the aspirations of our founding fathers. Where did we do the right things? Are we on course? If not where did we stray and how can we remedy and retrace our steps?

Fellow Nigerians, in addition to public health challenges of working to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, we have suffered a significant drop in our foreign exchange earnings and internal revenues due to 40 per cent drop in oil prices and steep drop in economic activities, leading to a 60 per cent drop in government revenue.

Our government is grappling with the dual challenge of saving lives and livelihoods in face of drastically reduced resources.

Fellow Nigerians, let us collectively resolve to continue our journey beyond the sixty years on the clear understanding that as a nation we are greater together than being smaller units of nationalities.

In this regard, sustaining the level of petroleum prices is no longer possible.

Petroleum prices in Nigeria are to be adjusted. We sell now at N161 per litre.

A comparison with our neighbours will illustrate the point;

a.Chad which is an oil producing country charges N362 per litre

b.Niger, also an oil producing country sells 1 litre at N346.

c.In Ghana, another oil producing country, petroleum pump price is N326 per litre.

Fellow Nigerians, to achieve the great country we desire, we need to solidify our strength, increase our commitment and encourage ourselves to do that which is right and proper even when no one is watching.

Further afield, Egypt charges N211 per litre. Saudi Arabia charges N168 per litre. It makes no sense for oil to be cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia.

By the special grace of God we shall come through any transient challenges

Those in the previous Governments from 1999 – 2015 who presided over the near destruction of the country have now the impudence to attempt to criticize our efforts.”

Police arrests youth for attempting suicide over unemployment, court grants him N200,000 bail

An unemployed man identified as Solomon Okon, has reportedly been detained by the police for over a month for over alleged attempted suicide.

The 21-year-old was said to have drank a poisonous substance in a bid to end his life due his unemployed status.

It was learnt that the young man, who was a porter at Havana Hospital, Surulere, Lagos, drank the poisonous substance after receiving a letter terminating his employment.

According to The PUNCH, a relative of Okon said the incident happened in August, adding that the suspect had since been charged to court.

He said, “Okon was working at Havana Hospital and received N35, 000 a month. He was squatting with a friend and was using part of the money to take care of his mother in Akwa Ibom. In August, he received a letter terminating his employment.

“Out of frustration, he ingested a poisonous substance. However, because it all happened in the hospital, he was quickly attended to and was able to recover to some extent. The hospital management reported the matter to the Barracks Police Station and then he was arrested and detained.”

It was also gathered that the police arraigned Okon before a Magistrate’s Court in Yaba for attempted suicide.

Confirming the incident, Muyiwa Adejobi, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, said Okon was still in police custody.

He said, “The case has been taken to court. He was arraigned on August 28, 2020, before Magistrate Patrick N of Court two Yaba. Adjournment date: October 15, 2020. He is remanded in police facility at Surulere.”

Okon, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate also reportedly granted Okon bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties.

Okon’s relative revealed that there was no way they could afford the sum.

“This young man tried to commit suicide because of poverty and frustration. Rather than get him a job, he is being detained and money is being demanded from him. This young man needs help. He needs assistance. He needs medical attention and counselling.

“The hospital tried by giving him medical treatment but it shouldn’t have reported the guy to the police. Now, we are all running all over the place. We need human rights lawyers to assist us.” he said.

We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.

We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.

To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.

Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.

We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.

“Coronavirus ruined I and Chioma’s wedding plans” – Davido reveals (Video)

Nigerian singing sensation and music executive, Davido has revealed it was the Coronavirus pandemic that ruined his wedding plans with Chioma Rowland, his fiancee, and mother of his son, Ifeanyi.

Davido disclosed this recently in an interview with Ebuka on Bounce Radio live.

Davido and Chioma got engaged in September last year and a lot of people have anticipated their nuptials, with many feeling they ought to have tied the knot by now.

However, Davido has shared that their wedding was billed to hold in July of 2020 but the Coronavirus pandemic prevented it from happening.

“Honestly, Corona messed plans up because it was meant to be in July. I have decided probably sometime next year. For now, I want her to work on her business while I work on my album and the kids. I want everything to balance first” he said

Speaking on how long himself and Chioma have known each other, the singer said,

“I have known Chioma for about seven years. We have been dating for about five years. Lati introduced me to Chioma. We went to the same school, Babcock University. We started as friends but I got so used to her and she got so used to me as well. She is a great cook as well.”

The singer who has two daughters, Imade and Hailey from his babymamas, Sophia and Amanda, stated that although it has not been easy making the women in his life happy but that as a man, he has found a way of maintaining balance in his home as he treats everyone equally.

“At the end of the day, all my kids are equal. Once I have a kid, everybody is equal. Before I had kids, I was obviously friends with their mothers. Nothing is perfect. I am not going to say that we do not argue or we do not fight, it happens, but the love that we all have for our kids comes first.

“Imade and her sister talk almost every week. Their mothers ensure that they speak almost every week. Some days ago, Imade was with Ifeanyi in their grandfather’s house. It is not easy, but at the end of the day, as a man, you have to make everybody happy. You just have to be responsible and know what you have to do. Before I engage with anybody I would have known that you are reasonable whether we planned for it or not,” he said.

The singer also spoke about his late mum whom he disclosed died of Cardiac arrest.

“I was about 10 to 11 years old when she died. She died on my father’s birthday. Honestly, it was just cardiac arrest. Even if it was going to happen, I would not have known because I was about 10 or 11 years old. She was not really sick. She used to get sick once in a while but it was nothing serious.

I often say that I see my mother in Chioma. I did not grow up with my mother. I can hardly remember what happened when I was that young.”

Time is not going, it is you that is going – Actor Adedimeji Lateef writes

Popular Nollywood Actor, Adedimeji Lateef has shared his opinion on the importance of time, in a new Instagram post.

The actor in his Instagram post noted that while people think ‘time is going’, they are actually the one going because they are finite and time is not.

Lateef also advised his followers to make better use of their time, while also pointing out that the worst thing to do with time ‘is comparing yourself to others’.

He wrote;

It is a mistake to think time is going. Time is not going. Time is here until the world ends. It is you that is going. You don’t waste time. Time is infinite. You waste yourself. You are finite. It is you that grow old, time doesn’t. So make better use of it. And one of the worst things to do with time is comparing yourself to others. A cow eats grass and gets fat but if dog eats grass, it will die. Never compare yourself with others. Run your race. What works for one person may not work for you.

Focus on the gifts and talents God gave you and don’t be envious of the blessings He gave others. If a rose smells better than tomatoes, It doesn’t mean the rose can make a better stew. Don’t try to compare yourself to others. You also have your own strength, look for it and build on it. All animals that exist, were in Noah’s ark.

A snail is one of those animals. If God could wait long enough for snails to enter Noah’s ark; His door of grace won’t close on you till you reach your expected end, only rely on him. Never look down on yourself, keep looking up. Remember that Broken crayons still color_*

Keep on pushing, you never can tell how close you are to your goal.

“Men Hate Women Who Empower Other Women” – Toni Tone

toni tone women

UK-based Nigerian speaker and writer, Toni Tone has opined that men generally loathe the power held by women and the synergy that arises when they empower one another.

toni tone women

The writer took to her Twitter account to share her point of view. She asserted that men hate women who empower other woman because of the belief that they are harder to control.

Her tweet reads,

Some men hate women who empower other women, because an empowered woman is a woman that is harder to control.

They don’t want women knowing that their body is for them and only them. They don’t want women knowing what they deserve. They don’t want women hearing about what they shouldn’t put up with. They don’t want women to be confident or to know they have authority over their own life.

When a man passionately dislikes a woman who is known for empowering other women, ask him why he dislikes her. Often the reasons given are fickle and insignificant because they’re too ashamed to give the real reason; which is “she makes women feel powerful and I don’t like that”.
