Comrade Victor James held a meeting with the Youngest British Member of Parliament, Zarah Sultana – the Member Of Parliament for Coventry South.
The meeting was held in pursuance to the mystic disappearance of Ozi Akerele after a night out with friends in Coventry city centre on the 31st of January, 2015. The body of Ozi Akerele was later discovered by two children in a disused graveyard in Old Church Road, Foleshill, on April 21 2016, about 15 months after he was declared missing.
The nonchalant manner with which the local authorities handled the situation has Comrade Victor James voicing out the disappointment and displeasure of the African youth community in West Midlands.
Moving forward to redress the situation, Comrade Victor James stated that after his meeting with the African community leaders across West Midlands last weekend, preventive measures and strategic problem solving mechanism were brought up.
In Comrade James Victor’s words,
We want Coventry Council to set up a Niger Delta and Nigerian community centre in Coventry. As you do know, Nigeria and Niger Delta have an overwhelming population in Coventry due to the university intake of our students and families who settled in the city due to its conducive and peaceful atmosphere. It also would be appreciated if the West Midlands government establish a youth centre for Nigerians and Niger Deltans, so that our community can work with the authorities in various ways and also invest in Nigeria, and diplomatic relations between West Midlands and Nigeria. This act will encourage them to invest in their home and keep in touch with their community and their culture too. It also will reduce the influence of knife crime which is spreading in Coventry.
James went on to say,
Nigerians contributes immensely to Coventry economy through university fees and it would be great to establish community centre for Nigerians in Coventry to encourage and maintain diversity, in pursuance to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Act 2010.
Following UK exit from European Union, the British government is strictly seeking to secure trade opportunities in any part of Africa, especially Niger Delta an oil producing region where I come from and Nigeria at large as common wealth member.
Zarah Sultana, Member of Parliament for Coventry South has taken it up and would definitely want to see Nigeria and Niger Delta community centre established, to strengthen ethnic cohesion in Coventry and West Midlands.
From left to right: Chief Wilson Enwerem, Nigerian community leader in Leicester, Zarah Sultana MP in a handshake with comrade Victor James and Chief K. Lloyd, Nigeria community leader of Coventry and Warwickshire area.
In light of this, Zarah MP expects a thousand reactions from the Nigerian public and signatories to pass the bill in British Parliament and get it done through West Midlands combined authorities.
James also said there was a great positive gesture from Zarah MP that the community centre would be established.

32-year-old CEO of Invictus Group and Forbes-rated young Nigerian billionaire, Obinwanne Okeke who is facing two counts of computer and wire fraud in the United States has filed a prelimnary objection to the charges.
Obinwanne Okeke stated that the American authorities lacked jurisdiction to charge him for fraud as he did not commit the offence he is being accused of in America, neither was any American companies or individuals defrauded at the time of his indictment.
The businessman’s lawyers who asked for the case to be struck out as the arrest should have never happened, pointed out that prosecutors only stated in the indictment that he swindled Unatrac, a subsidiary of American equipment manufacturer ‘Caterpillar’ of $11 million. They also cited multiple previous authorities to back their argument.
FBI prosecutors however stated Obinwanne’s lawyers were wrong to argue that no American companies or individuals were defrauded on the basis of the indictment. The prosecutors averred that the indictment was to show probable cause to secure an arrest warrant for Mr Okeke who travelled to the U.S. in the course of the fraud. They also disclosed that in the course of the trial, more victims of American citizenship and residency will be introduced.
The Invictus Group CEO’s lawyers also accused FBI agents of accessing his mobile phones and laptops illegally, an act they claimed was enough to get the charges dismissed.
FBI agents who arrested the businessman were accused of searching and seizing his phones without proper procedure. They were also accused of telling him to unlock his iPhone and Macbook Pro without first reading him his Miranda rights which involves telling him he has the right to remain silent and not cooperate with authorities, especially when a suspect has not contacted a lawyer.
Prosecutors however insisted that Obinwanne Okeke was told he could remain silent, but he willingly agreed to let authorities search his devices by providing passwords to them. They also affirmed that even without reading him his Miranda rights as his lawyers claimed, the evidence collected from his phone cannot be dismissed because they only corroborated evidence already collected in the year-long investigation into his alleged involvement in the $11 million fraud.
The FBI prosecutors concluded by stating that it cannot be argued that Obinwanne did not know the implication of submitting his passwords for federal agents to collect information, as he is an educated adult with both undergraduate and graduate degrees, and has also travelled extensively across the world over the years.
Though February 18 was initiallly fixed for the commencement of trial, the defence team’s preliminary objections to get the matter dismissed and for Mr Okeke to return to Nigeria led to the adjournment of commencement of trial to a date that would later be determined by both parties.

Nigerian media personality, Denrele Edun has talked about why he keeps visiting Goldie’s grave some seven years after her death.
Every year since late singer, Goldie Harvey, died in 2013, her close friend, Denrele Edun, has been visiting her grave on Valentine’s Day, which is the anniversary of her death. While some have commended his commitment to his deceased friend, others insinuated that he was doing it for publicity sake.
In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the media personality noted that the visits were his own way of keeping Goldie’s memory alive.
He said, “I go there every year and I can authoritatively say that I have been the one going there for the past seven years. It is not about going there because I want to get attention or I want to be in the news. No, it is my own little way of protecting my friend’s legacy and making people remember her. I am not going to come up with a controversial agenda.
“It is my little way of letting people remember that there was once a Goldie, there still is a Goldie and there will forever be a Goldie. Anytime I do that, people remember her. Some stations play her music and it might just be for that day but somehow, she is remembered, appreciated and loved on Valentine’s Day. No matter my schedule, I make sure I visit her grave every Valentine’s Day. It is so weird because the guards at the grave usually expect me. That is the only way I can communicate with her.”
Edun also stated that he had not being in touch with the late singer’s family.
“I have not been in touch with them since she passed on. I have no idea if anyone has been there. We all mourn people differently. When she initially passed on, we were in constant touch but time passed and everyone has gone their separate ways,” he said.
The former television presenter also maintained that he would continue visiting Goldie’s grave until he got a revelation to do otherwise.
Denrele, who recently shared his experience with the husband of a friend who said he didn’t like him, insisted that things like that did not get to him.
He added, “It is different when people tell you they don’t like you upfront, so you already know what you are dealing with. I can take open confrontation but when it comes from the action (of the person), I am a very strong-minded individual. As humans, we try to decipher what warranted such behaviour from someone who doesn’t know one’s story and it is not reciprocal because one doesn’t hate that person. I feel everyone is entitled to their views. You know my name not my story. You don’t know what I have been through. I like good energy. I am a positive-minded person and I don’t want to cross paths with these people. Honestly, I am not bothered.”
Nigerian gospel singer, Gloria Doyle has narrated how she lost her husband and children to her younger sister.
In an interview with The Nation, Gloria revealed that her blood sister was having an affair with her husband at that time and presently lives in the United States thanks to her husband.
The gospel singer disclosed that her name was altered in documents and replaced with that of her younger sister by her husband who wanted their children to come over to the United States.
She said;
”Their father is an American citizen though he is a Nigerian by birth. He said he wanted the children to come over; I too thought it would be a better opportunity for them.
“So, I allowed them to go. It is not that I couldn’t have gone, but at that point, what happened was that he was actually having an affair with my younger sister, who is at present living in America through him.
And when the children were going to America, the documents were altered. My name was removed, while my younger sister’s name replaced mine. So, when it was time for me to go to the US, I was denied visa. .
“I have been denied visa three times now. It has got to a point where a DNA test is required to prove that I am the children’s mother and that is the point where it is. So, it’s only when my children come here that I can think of going to America.
“It has made my travelling out of the country very difficult. And that was the original plan, which was to frustrate me and make me unable to see my children again. But with God, things are looking good.”

“I promise you we will do everything we can to make this fight. It has to happen.”
Wilder has the option to take up a third fight with Fury this summer, but Hearn hopes the American does not do so after he was well and truly destroyed by Fury before his team threw in the towel in the seventh round.

According to a report by The Nation, a woman, Mrs Comfort Giwa, said she got the beating of her life when her landlord, Mr Adisa Lukman, openly brutalised her for allegedly turning down his love advances.
The incident, according to Comfort, happened on February 9, 2020, while she was talking to a friend outside their residence at 3, Idiatu Kilani Street in the Fagba area of New Oko Oba, Agege, Lagos.
She said she was mercilessly beaten by the landlord during which she sustained varying degrees of injury on several parts of her body, including a wound on her arm.
She claimed that the man had made passes at her, which she rejected on several occasions, after which he threatened to deal with her.
‘’I started having issues with our landlord(Adisa), shortly after we moved into his house three years ago when he made several passes at me. He said he liked me and that he would like to date me but I rebuffed him knowing full well that I am a married woman living with my husband in his house.
‘’He was persistent in asking me out and at a point, I reported him to my husband. He then threatened that he would deal with me for spawning him. He has his own wife, yet, he had been disturbing, asking me to date him.
‘’Last night, I was seated beside one of my friends outside our residence when a woman living near our house told me that my landlord said my daughter was fond of harassing her own daughter. I told the woman that my daughter was innocent of the allegations and that God would expose whoever is behind the false allegations. Suddenly, my landlord rushed to where I was engaging the woman and attacked me for no just cause. He beat me to pulp. He held me down, while he called on one of his friends, who joined him to further brutalise me. The beating was so much that I sustained injuries on my body.
There’s a deep cut on one my arm, as I speak. I was rushed to a hospital and placed on admission, while my husband reported the incident to the police at Oko-Oba Division.
‘’However, nothing came out of the police intervention because our landlord sought the help of some community leaders, who used their ‘connection’ with the police to deny me justice.’’
Comfort’s husband, David Giwa, said he was planning to move out of the building before his landlord brutalised his wife for refusing his love advances.
‘’My wife had told me that our landlord was fond of peeping through the bathroom door to look at her naked body whenever she is having her bath. After he was cautioned, I figured out that his attitude was a signal to leave his house and I started saving money to get another accommodation in order to save my wife and children from the incessant harassment by my landlord.
‘’I was then shocked when my landlord and his associates descended on my wife and brutalised her, to the extent that she sustained injuries. She was placed on admission in a hospital for some days and she is still nursing wounds from the attack, as we speak.
‘’After I visited my wife in hospital, I made a report on the incident at Oko-Oba Police Division, but nothing came out of it because my landlord and some community leaders used their ‘connection’ to circumvent justice.’’
Adisa, however, denied the woman’s allegation that he(landlord) asked her out. He also denied inflicting injuries on her. He said the police had investigated the matter and exonerated him of any wrongdoing.
The embattled landlord told The Nation on telephone that Comfort injured herself when she made a fruitless attempt to hit him with one of her hands.
‘’Police have investigated the matter and found out that it was not true. Comfort’s daughter and another girl whose mother lives in the neighborhood ganged up to harass my daughter on her way to school. I warned her and the other woman to reprimand their daughters and she suddenly held my dress and attacked me.
‘’ I did not beat her. The wounds on her hand were as a result of the attack she launched on me. She wanted to hit me with her hands but I dodged and she landed one of the hands on a plank used to erect a shop extension at the scene.’’
He added: ‘’ I gave his husband a quit notice months ago and he tore the notice in my presence; even the community leaders have reprimanded the couple to no avail.’

Globacom has rolled out three enchanting television commercials to give wings to its products and services and create buzz among its various customers and other stakeholders.
The brand new TVCs currently enjoying airplay across Nigeria celebrate the techy ‘magic’ telecom subscribers can enjoy with the power of Glo 4G.
The first to be released was the 3D animation video featuring the masked one, Lagbaja, with his trademark talking drum and velvety-voiced Yemi Alade. This TVC got a lot of tongues wagging as Nigerians, especially techy youths, were tickled by the video.
The video opens with the computer generated characters of Yemi Alade and Lagbaja waltzing to Afrocalypso music popularized by him. They move to the lyrics powered by Yemi Alade who hit unimaginable music notes, complemented by the talking drums, while Lagbaja’s guttural voice acts as chorus. “Awesome, awesome.. mo so fun e… I need you, and you need me… awesome…ebube… awesome… e-bu-be-!..” they sing in the TVC.
Two commercials, dubbed “Emoji” and “Smart Home”, which equally demonstrate the effectiveness, dynamism and power of contemporary technology, aided by the social media, were thereafter rolled out by Globacom.
The Emoji commercial conveys the various emotions of netizens whilst responding to issues and begins with the protagonist, a female, receiving a notification on her smartphone that “the party is banging”. The notification galvanizes her into action as she jumps on a motorbike, excited to join the fun.
As a result of this, the business man she was discussing with before receiving the notification is agitated and shouts “Na wa o!” in frustration as he repeatedly hits his knee on literally getting a red card through a bad telecommunication experience. The clip morphs into a football field where a player angrily storms out of the field, kicking off one of her boots in the process. Meanwhile, subscribers to Globacom are exchanging hi-fives while having a ball on the network.
The commercial also highlights one of the common hustles youths engage in which is juice and smoothie-making. A fruit seller receives a call on a Glo line detailing the order of a client. She then communicates this to a delivery van which promptly delivers the consignment.
An unsatisfied customer, a lady, breaks into tears as her videos are not downloading. She sends all her drinks flying with a kick. She later takes a bike to join the Globacom party where netizens are having a ball, dancing and taking selfies.
In “Smart Home” TVC, Globacom demonstrates some of the possibilities in today’s tech-enabled world where household chores like switching the light on and off, turning on the tap and opening doors are done through remote control.
Nollywood stars, Sola Sobowale and Mama G (Patience Ozokwor) attend an “end-of-the-year party” organized by Mama Gee’s daughter. At the party, Sobowale follows her daughter to the rest room and is taken aback when the door opens on its own accord. She looks behind the door for who or what opened the door.
Continuing her search, Sobowale goes to the living room where she relaxes on the settee and is even admiring Mama G’s picture in a photo frame she picked up when the fan and light bulbs were turned on by Mama G and her daughter who were monitoring her movement on their smartphone from outside unknown to Sobowale while the rest of the party looked on.
The same thing happens at the rest room when Mama G and her daughter turn on the tap in the wash-hand basin remotely to startle Sobowale and her daughter who bolts out of the house, hollering “there is something opening the door, switching the lights!” Mama G then retorts, “nothing to worry about” and Odunlade rounds it off with “Na Glo 4G dey run things”.
Sobowale later has her revenge when she scares Mama G and her daughter as they pass by her car which suddenly start beeping in panic mode, with Sobowale dangling the remote control with a victory smile on her face.
