Obanye Chizzy Frances, an acid attack victim, whose life changed forever exactly 15 years ago when her uncle’s wife doused her with acid, is celebrating a new age as she recently turned 24.
Chizzy, who has move on from the tragic event and is now a biochemist, shared before and now photos two days ago which was the fifteenth anniversary of her attack.

A final year Business and Finance student of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state, identified as Chioma Anachulam, has died alongside her boyfriend, De Young, due to generator fumes.
The duo were found dead in a friend’s room off-campus on Sunday morning, five days before her final paper this Friday.
De Young had paid her a visit in school on Saturday, November 16, 2019, and they decided to pass the night in the room of a friend.
The friend excused them, only to return to meet Chioma dead and the boyfriend unconscious.
Chioma’s body was swollen and her tongue was sticking out of her mouth. Her skin colour had already changed.
They were both rushed to ‘Chiononso Hospital’ where it was revealed that Chioma, who is from Nnewi, had been dead for at least 6 hours but De Young was still alive, though unconscious.
People were hoping for his recovery so he would explain what had happened. Sadly, he eventually passed on too.
Emmanuel Adedeji Oluwatosin, an FBI-wanted scammer was convicted on Tuesday, November 19th by Justice M S. Sifawa of the Sokoto State High court sitting in Sokoto, over $150,000 internet fraud.
Upon arraignment, Adedeji pleaded guilty to the charge. In view of the defendant’s plea, the prosecuting counsel, Musa. Mela Gwani asked the court to convict and sentence the defendant.
The charge reads, “that you Adedeji Emmanuel Oluwatosin, sometime between January and July 2019 at Sokoto within the jurisdiction of the Sokoto State High Court did steal the sum of $150, 000.00 (One Hundred and fifty Thousand Dollars) through wire funds transfer from multiple foreign victims by fraudulent intrusion into their retirement accounts domiciled in United States of America via internet and transferred the said sums into fraudulent business accounts created by you and you withdrew the said funds through ATM Cards and cashier cheques and you thereby committed the offence of Theft contrary to Section 274 of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law 2019 and punishable under Section 275 of the same Law”.
However, the defence counsel, Shamsu A. Dauda, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as his client was a first time offender who has become remorseful. He also told the court that the convict is ready to restitute the victims by forfeiting his home in Kaduna and two Mercedes Benz cars (Models C550e and C450) to the victims.
Justice Sifawa, thereafter convicted and sentenced the defendant to two (2) years imprisonment with option of Two Million Naira (N2, 000,000.00) fine. He ordered the convict to restitute the victims by forfeiting the proceeds of the said crime: a residential apartment situated at No17/19 Seamans Street, Maigero, Kaduna State and two Mercedes Benz Models C550e and C450 respectively through Asset Forfeiture Unit of the EFCC for disposal and return of the proceeds to the victims of the offence through the US Legal Attaché in Nigeria.
The convict’s journey to prison started on the 29th of August, 2019 when he was arrested in Kaduna at Unguwan Maigero in a luxury apartment, following intelligence by US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on his involvement in internet scams. Items recovered from the residence included two cars (Mercedes Benz C550e, Mercedes Benz C450), an IPhone, laptops, a modem and SIM cards. Wilson Uwujaren

According to reports, the ”Di Asa” winner wasn’t allowed to board the plane to Dubai because her body size is bigger than a single economy class seat in Emirates Airlines’ flight.

Apparently, trouble started with the Woman’s daughter was turned back because she fixed artificial ‘eyelashes’.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has debunked claims of Dubai-based Nigerian man, Ismaila Mustapha popularly known as Mompha bribing his way out of its custody.
Mompha was arrested in October by the anti-graft agency on charges of money laundering and internet fraud.
Reacting to the development, a Twitter user @azeezsoneye99 asked the EFCC about Mompha’s whereabout.
He wrote ;
“Where are we on Mompha’s case? I @segalink @channelstv Why did @officialEFCC delete all posts relating to Mompha’s arrest. A random online post reveals that he’s settling (bribing) his way out. Clear the air in this pls @officialEFCC God bless Naija.”
EFCC in their response, stated that Mompha is still being remanded on court orders and will soon be arraigned.
“This information about Mompha “bribing” his way out is false and MUST be disregarded.
“Ismaila Mustapha A.K.A. Mompha is still being remanded on court orders and will soon be arraigned. #SayNoToCorruption #BeAccountable” EFCC tweeted.

The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN has asked parents to warn their children against inviting rapists through their dressing.
Reverend Israel Akanji, Chairman of CAN (North Central Zone), gave the warning when he spoke at a summit with the theme: “Elimination of violence against women and children”, organised by the Women’s Wing of Christian Council of Nigeria, today November 19th.
Rev. Akanji’s statement is coming in the wake of the rape case between Biodun Fatoyinbo and his accuser, Busola Dakolo.
Akanji while speaking to the women, said
“When people wear mini dresses, sometimes they even wear it to church we must speak against it in churches. Some of us try not to talk about it because we feel if we talk to them, they may not return to our churches. The church has to come up with tough measures against indecent dressing; indecent dressing must not be accepted in the church of Christ. Even the Bible teaches that people must dress decently to be in the House of the Lord.
The Bible says thou shall not steal, kill and commit adultery. These are considered to be grievous sins in the Bible, but people who rape, should be considered as very serious criminals. The problem we have in Nigeria is anonymity, people don’t want to talk when raped, parents don’t want their children to say it because they feel it will bring a bad name to their family and that is why it has continued.
If rape cases are reported in good time and adequate measures are taken, a lot of things will change.
I want to appeal to parents that while we are waiting for a law that will deal with rapists (I know that laws exist right now), parents must warn their children. Some children dress in such a way that they appear as if they are inviting rapists to their lives. They are almost naked, they expose body parts that some people cannot control themselves. Let us return to the culture of decent dressing, it may not stop but it will minimize it.”
The video sparked an outrage online with many Nigerians calling for the expulsion of the students from the school.
In an interview with Sahara Reporters, the victim, Boluwatife Adekunle, said she was assaulted by her colleagues for revealing how one of their boyfriends tried to have an affair with her.
In her words
“The whole issue started few weeks ago. I and one of the ladies in the video called ‘Faith’ were roommates in a hostel outside campus. Her boyfriend began asking me out but I felt it was not proper for me to date him. I rejected his advances. But instead of him to leave me alone, the guy kept disturbing me, so I had to report him to Faith because I don’t want trouble. Before then, I had been having some issues with Faith as she had been living a wayward life on campus which I didn’t like.
“From that point, she started seeing me as talking bad about her to people around our area. During this period, her boyfriend kept pestering me to date him but I refused. Instead of Faith to caution her boyfriend, she accused me of planning to sleep with her man. On the day that I was assaulted, she invited me to a room in one of the hostels and boyfriend and other ladies were inside the place already.
“Immediately I entered the place, they locked the door and asked me to kneel down while the guy was asking if he ever asked me for a date. Since I refused to kneel down, they began to beat me and also tried to strip me naked. They used a stick to hit me on my head and punched me on my face. The guy used horse whip to flog me several times.
“They said they would make sure they disgraced me on campus, I pleaded with them but they refused and I was about to faint when they stopped beating me. As I speak, I feel pains all over my body due to the beatings. Their plan was to kill me. I want them arrested and face the consequences of their action.”
Boluwatife’s mother, Mrs Florence Adekunle, says all she wants is justice for her daughter
“I was in the church on Sunday when her brother called me that they saw Boluwatife in a video and she was beaten up. I can’t imagine how friends would treat a fellow student like this. I’m aware that the school authority and even the police have taken up the matter, all the same we want justice.”
Spokesperson for the institution, Adegbenro Adebanjo, said the indicted students have been suspended. He gave the names of the suspended students as Popoola Olaniyi Agboola (300L), Oluwadare Faith Tobiloba (200L), Nandi Yohanna Jessica (200L), Ajuwon Tolani Emmanuella (100L), Emmanuel Funmilayo Taiwo (100L) and Alao Olabimpe Cecilia (100L).
“As a consequence of their suspension, they are precluded from all academic and related activities indefinitely and barred from the university and its precincts forthwith. At the conclusion of ongoing investigations, the law of the university as contained in the handbook and oath of matriculation which all students are made to sign and subscribe to, will be visited on those found culpable” Adebanjo said
Commenting on the incident, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adie Undie, said the police is currently investigating the incident.
