Lady shares how her best friend whom she communicated with every day relocated to the UK without her knowledge

A Nigerian lady has shared via the microblogging platform X how a long-time friend of hers, traveled to the UK without informing her.

Sharing the heartbreaking experience in several tweets, she revealed that they always communicated weekly but her friend never mentioned her relocating plans to her.

The lady who described herself as someone who doesn’t hold grudges for a long period disclosed her friend’s action hurt her really bad.

She wrote in her tweet;

“My closest friend from Uni left Nigeria to the UK sometime in 2022. I had been calling her weekly till sometime in March and she told me she had been in the UK since 6 months prior. I just blocked her everywhere. Fast forward to today, she reached out on Instagram and wished me a happy birthday. I didn’t even open the message and I deleted her friend request. People I call friends have relocated. I think Ibrahim and Nneka’s relocation hurt me the most but I was aware of these two Somehow I can’t let go of how hurt Stephanie made me feel. Anyone who knows me know I’m not one to hold grudges but this one hurt me to the bone marrow. I don’t know how I can forgive her leaving Nigeria 6 months before and not telling me until I made a joke about it. I’m not even that emotionally attached to anyone to feel this hurt. But this one was like my only friend in Uni and I kept in touch because I didn’t want to lose her due to lack of communication.”

There’s been a lot of hate in the past but this physical assault is a wake-up call. Guys, I’m in the hospital. Safety with travel is no longer a luxury but necessity. The acid was salicylic and I was lucky. Love you guys.”

Netizens who came across her ex-husband’s reaction to the news trooped into his comment section to berate him for his unintelligent comment.

@Lilian Chinenyenwa:  Guy you’re so heartless, I have never seen a man as heartless as you are at this point. Common this is the mother of your beautiful girls you claimed to love. God forbid, so if she had died you will be celebrating right? You need to leave her alone.

“Grammy is an American award, we need to start supporting our own” – Joeboy

Popular Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinwale, popularly known as Joeboy has urged his African colleagues to support regional award ceremonies instead of international ones.

In an exclusive interview with 3Music TV, he made the plea, claiming that the Grammy, an accolade that many artists aspire to receive, is an American honour despite their widespread acclaim.

The “Alcohol” crooner declared that it is now necessary for Afrobeats artists to cherish and support African award shows more than international ones.

Joeboy pushed for African artists to strengthen institutions on the continent and make sure they develop in line with those that are recognised worldwide.

The 26-year-old singer said; “I think we should unapologetically be ourselves and also empower our institutions here in Africa.

But we make it look like that it is the biggest award an African artiste can ever get. Why don’t we show up for our awards and plan it properly?

If they did not show up for their awards, it won’t be as great as it is now. I know there is money to be made there but we need to return home and invest.

At the end of the day, we will all have to come back. So it is all about making sure our infrastructure and institutions are growing.”

“I couldn’t get a job in Nigeria because of my tattoo” – Asake

Popular Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake has said that getting a job in Nigeria is tough for those with tattoos on their bodies.

Asake made this claim in an article published in the most recent issue of GQ magazine. He recounted how stereotypes prevented him from working for any organisation or conducting business due to his neck tattoo.

In his words;

“In Nigeria, if you have a tattoo on your neck, you can’t work anywhere. I can’t work for any company. I can’t sell anything.”

Asake discussed his unexpected ascent to fame and pointed out that, contrary to popular belief, he did not become an “overnight success” in the Nigerian music industry.

The “Yoga” crooner said that he had been trying for years to achieve success and that he had only recently arrived at his goal.

He said; “You have to understand: I got there in two years, but I’ve been working for years. People are counting the days you’re successful. They don’t count the days you’ve been working towards it. Nobody gives a fvck about that.”

Oladips speaks on his rumored demise, insists he d!ed and resurrected

Nigerian singer Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, better known as Oladips, has expressed dissatisfaction at the fact that many still doubt his assertion that he died and rose from the dead.

Oladips addressed the “death hoax” and stressed that, in contrast to common belief, he truly died in a recent interview with Hip TV.

Recall that while many believed Oladips had died, it was subsequently confirmed that he was still alive after initial reports of his death from last year.

He acknowledged in the interview that he had a near-death experience, but when he talks about it, people still look at him in doubt.

He said:

“I came back to life to see all the chaos and disbelief. But what can I do? What has happened has happened. How many people can I sit with and explain to?

Because, obviously, a lot of people still think my death is a prank. Every time I tried to explain that it was a near-death experience and not a prank, people always show disbelief. But those who are close to me know that I died and resurrected.”

“This is sacrilegious and disrespectful to the Christian faith” – Solomon Buchi criticizes Rihanna for sexu@lizing nuns in new magazine cover

Solomon Buchi criticizes

Self-proclaimed life coach Solomon Buchi has openly criticized world-famous singer and businesswoman Rihanna for her recent cover shoot for Interview magazine.

This comes after Rihanna took to her Instagram page to share a photo and video of the magazine cover, in which she was dressed like a sexy nun, with the caption “INTERVIEW. spring 2024 cover.”

This evidently infuriated many Christians, including Solomon Buchi, who took to Twitter to express his displeasure with Rihanna for sexualizing nuns.

 Solomon Buchi criticizes

He stated that the image is sacrilegious and disrespectful to Catholics and Christians in general. Speaking further, he criticized Christians who still support celebrities like Rihanna, despite their constant denigration of their faith.

He wrote,

“Rihana did this shoot depicting a sexualized nun, and it is sacrilegious and disrespectful to Catholics and the Christian faith in general. Every element of the Christian faith is worthy of reverence and respect from non-Christians. It worries me how Christians hype celebrities who constantly disrespect the most important figure in their lives. Most of you wouldn’t take anyone disrespecting your physical family like this, you’d cut them off, but Rihanna can disrespect your faith, and you’d still stan her, because your religion isn’t that deep for you?

These worldly celebrities can be creative and artsy without soiling symbols of the Christian culture.”

Electricity tariff hike is capable of hurting us in next election – APC member begs Tinubu to reverse the policy

APC member begs

Nze Chidi Duru, the Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to reverse the electricity tariff hike, labeling it as an anti-party measure.

He argued that the current tariff hike for some consumers is a policy that could potentially harm the electoral prospects of the ruling party in the next election.

APC member begs

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, April 9, Duru warned,

“This has unintended consequences for the government and for the party. People are groaning on account of difficulties and I call on the regulators to go to the Nigeria Communication Commission NCC and learn what they have been able to do. This is one policy that must not stand.

It is not the duty of Nigerians to buy transformers, provide electrical poles and fund other installations that should naturally have been provided by the Distribution Companies DISCOS or Generating Companies GENCOS.”

APC member begs

In response to whether he wants the government to review the concession agreement, Duru replied:

“Of course, it has come to that. If they look at the terms of the contract government signed with the operators and if there is sufficient reason government should take over the agencies, DisCos and GenCos. It should because none of them have delivered on the duties imposed on that contract.

“Otherwise, why is it that Nigerians are still buying their transformers, cables, providing electricity for themselves, still generating power through other sources and still consuming diesel at inappropriate levels?

“Those selling generators are selling more than before and the volume of kilowatts of power available in the country continued to hover around 2000 to 6000 and never go beyond that. Was that not a reflection that there is not enough investment in that industry and a reflection that those operators don’t understand the business?

“It is an indication that what they are there to do is to impose hardship on the average Nigerian and there are sufficient grounds to do that.

“It is a pity that this is happening at the time the government is working very hard to tackle inflation, provide basic amenities to Nigerians and yet an agency of government can impose such inordinate charges and bills without base and background on the people of these country.

“They did it without the requisite checks and balances of what is needed to be done in the first place. It doesn’t work on the sense of logic that this should even happen in the first place,” Duru said.

“If the regulators, like the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC are doing their work, they would have brought to book the operators in the power sector, particularly the value chain, and not them continuing to impose obligations on citizens for no fault of theirs other than the inappropriate concessioning of a very significant part of the economy, which is the power sector in Nigeria.

“It was sold to people with little or no experience. Our national patrimony was handed over to them and rather than invest in the sector, they rather saw the sector as an avenue not only to make money but also to undermine the country and citizens of Nigeria. This incessant increase in tariff will continue ad-infinitum if nothing is done to ensure that these people are brought to account for what needs to be done.

“Over 15 years after the concessioning, we have not seen any improvement. If you compare it with what is happening in the telecommunications industry where government deliberately made effort to bring in people who understand the sector, government made money but those who are professionals were brought in to operate the various licences.

“At the initial stage, the Nigeria Communications Commission NCC, under the leadership of Ernest Ndukwe, we could see the roadmap that it may be expensive in the beginning like buying SIM Card, but once they attained a critical mass, the cost will go down. And even before the timeline set, we saw it begin to go down immediately.

“You remember that at a time we were buying SIM for N35,000 or more, but suddenly it became free because the necessary investments were done in that sector as against what is currently happening in the power sector where government has continued to subsidize, including borrowing money with the intervention of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, running into N3 trillion.

“In a privatized industry, cost reflective is not banded on areas of residents or where you do your business. How much power you use should not be based on where you are residing.

“If for example I have my factory in Lugbe, Abuja, and producing 500 billion products, then I will be under Band C. But if I am unfortunate to have my factory in Asokoro, or Maitama, then I will be charged N255 because of geographical location yet I am producing less.

“It has never happened anywhere in the world. It is only a certification around residential, commercial and manufacturing to ensure that those who use electricity more are made to pay for what they consume.

“Even without conceding that this could have happened, there must be a transition that will encourage and engender the confidence of people in this country that power is being provided to them 20 hours in a day. That never happened.

“So people are paying for blackouts and inefficiency only because they have been banded in a given area. Go to Asokoro and find out if they get power supply for 20 hours a day. Yet they are charged with an ineffective cost of N255 and we have a regulator who instead of demanding efficiency on the part of the industry is colluding with them”, he lamented.

This evidently broke Funke Akindele’s heart, and she went live on her Instagram page to clear the air about the allegations.

She said she wasn’t aware of Jumoke’s struggles because filming for Jenifa’s Diary has been on pause for a while, and she is not in constant communication with all the actors.

The mother of two added that she recently asked another colleague, Jide Awobona, about Jumoke’s whereabouts, and he said she was fine.

Funke, who doesn’t usually respond to online criticisms and rebukes, said she felt the need to publicly address the allegations because they involve her late colleague.

Court fines actress Halima Abubakar N10m for defaming Apostle Johnson Suleman

Court fines

A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory has ruled that Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar must pay N10 million in damages to the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, for posting derogatory comments against him.

The court also issued a restraining order, preventing her from making any further defamatory statements against the clergyman.

According to the certified true copy of the judgment dated April 8, 2024, Apostle Suleman accused Halima of posting libelous statements on her Instagram page @halimabubakar, which were then circulated by several blogs and newspapers.

The clergy specifically stated that the actress accused him of being a womanizer and diabolical, among other allegations.

However, the cleric asserted that Halima’s statement was falsely and maliciously written and published to the general public.

Court fines

In his ruling, Justice Enobie Obanor noted that the 38-year-old thespian had the opportunity to defend herself in the case but failed to do so.

The judgment read,

“This issue is therefore resolved in favour of the claimant. Accordingly, judgment is entered in favour of the claimant as follows:

“A declaration that the statements published by the defendant against the claimant on her Instagram handle @halimabubakar, falsely and maliciously written and published to the general public, are defamatory of the person of the claimant.

“The sum of N10,000,000.00 only to the claimant as aggravated and exemplary damages for libel contained in the publication of the defendant against the claimant on her Instagram handle @Halimabubakar and caused to be published in several blogs.”

“I can accept a child that is not mine” – Actor Baba Tee speaks on paternity fraud

Actor Baba Tee speaks

Nigerian actor and comedian, Babatunde Bernard Tayo, better known as Baba Tee, has shared his thoughts on the DNA test and paternity fraud controversy on social media.

In a recent interview with TVC, Baba Tee asserted that the high rate of paternity fraud in Nigeria is caused by several issues, such as lack of sexual satisfaction and one’s upbringing.

However, he noted that a woman can’t blame her decision to cheat on her husband’s misbehavior in the marriage because she could have chosen to walk away. He emphasized that it is solely the woman’s fault.

Actor Baba Tee speaks

Regarding whether he would accept an illegitimate child, Baba Tee said he can accept the child if his partner is genuinely remorseful for cheating on him.

His words,

“Women can’t use domestic violence or infidelity on the part of their spouses as an excuse for paternity fraud. If a man is not treating you well, walk out of the marriage.

“When it comes to paternity fraud, the woman is always at fault. You can’t shift the blame to the man because men don’t conceive. As a woman, if you know you can’t tolerate your husband’s maltreatment or infidelity, leave the marriage.

“Personally, there is nothing I can’t keep for a woman who is good to me. If a woman cheats on me and a child comes out of it and I find out, I will forgive her if she is remorseful. I will take the child as my own.”

Baba Tee’s statement comes weeks after he mentioned that men are wired to cheat, and it’s like their second skin.
