Security operatives have apprehended two criminal suspects and their girlfriends for allegedly robbing residents of their properties in Rivers state.
The couples who reportedly specialize in stealing around Ikwerre local government area of the state, were nabbed following a recent security raid at their base.
They were arrested after the police received an intelligence report from an unknown caller who exposed the gang said to be ‘living large’ in the area.
Security agents raided the hideout of the criminal elements and caught them with over 15 stolen Smartphones, brand new generators, refrigerator, laptops and other items belonging to people living around around them.
Music video director, Clarence Peters has reacted to the “Sex for role allegation” leveled against him by Lagos Socialite, Pretty Mike.

A former member of the House of Representatives and an international lawyer of repute, Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko, has received the Honorary Doctorate Award from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, Nigeria.

A Nigerian woman has given birth to a baby on the same day that she was getting married to her husband.
According to one Cynthia Chidimma Ezike, who shared the story on her Facebook page, the woman who gave birth is her brother’s wife.

A 100 Level Chemical Engineering student of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has died of apparent suicide after a long-standing battle with depression.
The lady identified as Hikmat Gbadamosi was found dead in her room – according to her friend, the deceased had been battling a medical condition since birth and the resulting pain sent her into depression.
She is assumed to have consumed two bottles of a poisonous substance on Saturday and was only discovered on Monday after her bestie mobilized classmates to her room to know why she didn’t show up in school for a test they had yesterday.
On getting there, they saw her door locked and peeped through the window – only to see the girl laying dead. An alarm was raised and people gathered to break the door.
The lodge occupants said they saw her last on Saturday. She might have died since Saturday night and only discovered yesterday being Monday.

A member of the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative (PCNI), Dr. Sidi Ali Mohammed, has disclosed that Boko Haram members receive as much as $3,000 daily which he claims serves as payment for carrying out terrorist attacks in the North-East since 2014.
Mohammed made this disclosure at the Presentation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Sub-Sahara Africa’s Economic Outlook Report, in Abuja on Monday April 29th.
According to Mohammed, the payment makes the N1,000 daily allowance paid to Nigerian troops at the war front ridiculous.
“I will give you an example. The Nigerian military for example, gets N1, 000 per day for being in the North East, at the war front, as an allowance. The same North-East, where if you are a member of Boko Haram you get $3,000 per day as allowance. So it is lucrative. Sometimes, they even give you money upfront. So we must do something about the youth from where they are recruiting.” he said

ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has re-emerged in a new video, after nearly 5 years of absence.
In the video, he blames the “savagery” of Christians for ISIS’ defeat in the battle of Baghouz and vowed to get revenge for his dead militants.
Al-Baghdadi, who is the leader of the Islamist terrorist group, was last seen in July 2014, when he gave his last sermon at the Great Mosque in Mosul, Iraq. He has not appeared in a video since then.
He reappeared for the first time in a propaganda video released today by the jihadist organisation.
In the video, the 47-year-old sat cross-legged with a rifle resting against the wall near his arm. The Iraqi militant, who suffers from diabetes, spoke slowly, often pausing for several seconds in the middle of his sentences.
It is unclear when the footage was filmed, but Baghdadi referred in the past tense to the months-long fight for Baghouz, IS’s final bastion in eastern Syria, which ended last month. A written script at the start of the video dates it to earlier in April, but the authenticity and exact date of the recording has not yet been independently verified, Daily Mail reports.
Sitting on a cushion and speaking to three men whose faces have been blurred, Baghdadi said: “The battle for Baghouz is over.”
He continued: “There will be more to come after this battle”, adding that his group is fighting a “battle of attrition”.
A 56-year-old man, Clinton Kanu is making a claim to demand a Twenty Billion Naira compensation for spending 27 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit.
Kanu, who was sentenced to death in 1992 for murder, was freed by the Supreme Court on April 5, 2019.
The Okigwe, Imo State-born consultant criminologist explained that though he made efforts to absolve himself from a gang-up that led to his incarceration, nobody was ready to listen to him until he was jailed.
While in prison, Kanu lost his mother; coupled with the fact that he was not married, he said he fought loneliness.
Kanu, who recounted the incident that led to his travail, said,
“About 27 years ago, some people were accused of stealing a generator and fluorescent tubes; they were my in-laws.
“After a court decided the case, we suddenly heard that somebody was killed in the compound where my sister married. I was arrested because those behind my ordeal thought I was trying to resolve a land dispute in favour of one person.
“I was taken to the Okigwe Police Station and later transferred to Owerri, where I was charged to court in April 1992. I was detained in the Owerri prison. I was at the tribunal for seven years because those behind my ordeal included armed robbery to the case. They believed I was a strong man and wanted to tie me down.
“They brought false witnesses to testify against me at the tribunal. I was later taken to a regular court where I was condemned to death. From Owerri, I was transferred to the Port Harcourt prison. At the Port Harcourt prison, I waited for many years for the hangman’s noose.
“I went to the Appeal Court to appeal the case, but my lawyer messed it up. Then I decided to proceed to the Supreme Court, where after 27 years in prison, I was vindicated. I was detained for nothing for 27 years; I was discharged and acquitted on April 5, 2019.”
Speaking further, Kanu said that he would demand N20bn compensation from the Federal Government and his state (Imo State) for the damage done to his business.
“It seems as if everything collapsed on my head; I don’t know where to start from. My head is jam-packed with thoughts and I need to ask God to direct me. I really need help.
“I am considering asking for compensation from the Federal Government and my state. I want this legal parochialism and injustice to stop.
“When you talk about the damage done to my business and to my health, due to the prison’s dirty environment, and a lot of other things that have gone wrong, if I put my losses in billions, I don’t think it is out of place.
“The money is just to make me solve my problems and get back to normal life. I will ask for N20bn compensation.”

A young man was hit by a stray bullet today during a raid in Benin City.
Lawyer, Jefferson Uwoghiren, who shared the story, stated that the raid was conducted by police officers of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Edo State Command.
This young man, Dennis Amadasun was rushed to my office early this morning, a victim of gunshot by careless and negligent police officers attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Edo State Command.
Dennis was shot and wounded around 2:00am in his house in Ugbiyokho Area of Benin when the police stormed the house allegedly in search of internet fraudsters!!! Bleeding and weak from the injury, Dennis was abandoned and left to die by the officers.
His angry relatives brought him to my office,whereupon I advised that the matter be reported at the nearest police station. Dennis was taken to Evbuotubu Police Station where the galant DPO politely asked him to leave. Since his men, didn’t participate in the raid, why should he bear liability for treatment?
With no police report, private hospitals declined treatment. Thanks to Dr Philip Ogbodaga, the management of Specialist Hospital, Benin agreed to treat Dennis subject to their Security Protocols.
This evening the police brought money to support the ongoing treatment and they informed me that Dennis was never a target of their raid.

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 1st as public holiday to celebrate the 2019 Workers’ Day.

Nine Nigerians have been arrested in the United States of America over allegations of fraud.
Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and James Spero, Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa, Florida, Field Office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), announced this in a statement.
The suspects were arrested for allegedly defrauding businesses and individuals of more than $3.5 million through business email compromises, a Russian oil scam, and a romance scam.
Those arrested were identified as Oluwaseun Adelekan, Olalekan Daramola, Solomon Aburekhanlen, Gbenga Oyeneyin, Abiola Olajumoke, Temitope Omotayo, Bryan Eadie, Albert Lucas, and Ademola Adebogun. “As alleged, these defendants deployed three different email schemes to defraud their victims,” Berman was quoted as saying in the statement.
He added, “The common denominator in all three schemes was the defendants’ alleged fleecing of their victims through fictitious online identities. The schemes allegedly earned the defendants $3.5 million – and also arrests on federal felony charges.”
Spero was also quoted as saying, “A transnational criminal organisation allegedly conducting illicit domestic and international wire fraud has been dismantled thanks to the hard work of HSI Tampa and Special Agents from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. This case illustrates the unique investigative authority and international reach of HSI.”
The suspects were accused of participating in a scheme to defraud businesses and individuals through several categories of false and misleading representations. These include sending victims email messages that appeared to be but were not, from legitimate business counter-parties that included instructions to the victims to wire payment to those seemingly legitimate business counter-parties into some bank accounts.
The accounts were said to be under the control of the defendants who were also accused of sending email messages and text messages to at least one victim, offering an opportunity to invest in oil stored in Russian oil tank farms. They were alleged to have placed the victim on condition of wiring upfront payments into bank accounts purportedly affiliated with the purported oil investment but actually opened by and under the control of Aburekhanlen, Olajumoke, and Oyeneyin.
According to the statement, the victims, in reliance on the misleading representations, transferred in excess of $3.5 million into bank accounts opened in the names of oil companies but maintained by the defendants. Aburekhanlen was arrested on Wednesday in the Bronx, New York, while Adelekan, Omotayo, Lucas, Eadie, and Adebogun were arrested on Thursday in New York. Similarly, Olajumoke and Oyeneyin were arrested on Thursday in Florida and Daramola was arrested in Texas on the same day.
The defendants were each charged in the indictment with one count of conspiring to commit wire fraud and they face a maximum potential sentence of 20 years in prison.

An Avengers fan in China has allegedly cried so hard that she had to be rushed from the Cinema to the Emergency Room, while watching the new movie with friends.
The 21-year-old Chinese woman, known by a pseudonym Xiao Li, was said to be watching the midnight premiere last Wednesday in the eastern Chinese city of Ningbo.
She reportedly cried non-stop throughout the movie, Mirror UK reports.
Doctors at the city’s Mingzhou Hospital said Xiao Li had difficulty breathing when she was brought into the ER by her friends who had been watching the film with her. It was also claimed that her hands couldn’t stop twitching.
‘[After we] observed her symptoms, we believed she had been crying and gasping too much, which led to shortness of breath,’ said doctor Yuan Liyan who treated Xiao Li.
