Hearts were broken all over again on Monday as Muyiwa, wife of late Prof Pius Adesanmi, had to break the news of his death to their daughter, Tise.

Recall before his passing, Pius Adesanmi had penned an open letter to his daughter which read thus;

Here is an open letter of a conversation Professor Pius Adesanmi had with his daughter, Tiese some time ago when she conversed him on why he is always away.

“The toughest part? The tears heralding every departure. The accusations. The tantrums. You are going again!!!

The pleading. The cajoling. The explanations. These trips, they are Daddy’s work. Your own trip with Daddy is in August. That is when the family vacation comes.

But I’ve been to your work. Your office is not on an airplane. Every time you go to the airplane without me you say it is work.

Another round of coaxing, sweet talking, pleading. You try to explain this kind of work that takes you to the airplane. And away. From her. You are struggling. Then she breaks it down brilliantly the way nature has wired toddlers to be far beyond us.

Daddy is this also like the hard work that you say they give you money at the end of the month when you do it? Toddler-speak and syntax for salary.

Yes, Tise, when you work hard you make money to buy things.

So when you leave on the airplane, you make money to buy me happy meals?

Yes.

Lots of happy meals?

Yes.

At the new McDonalds?

Yes.

Her face dissolves into happinness. She is dancing now and running around the house and helping me pack. And we dance like best friends all the way to the airport.

And she waves me bye and tells me to remember my promise of happy meals from the money I make on this trip.

I suppress a tear and walk to check in, afraid to look back and catch her gaze…”

Adesanmi was one of the two Nigerians who died in the crash that claimed 157 lives on Sunday.

Adesanmi, who was a professor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, had boarded the fight to attend a meeting of the African Union’s Economic, Social, and Cultural Council in Nairobi.

Akintunde Akinleye, a Nigerian academia and journalist in Canada has now taken to Facebook to share the moment Muyiwa, his wife, had to break the news of Adesanmi’s passing to their daughter.

In his words;

“When Tise wished you an angelic goodbye, Prof… A courageous woman, your friend, your wife held back all her pains…to break this news to Tise! I am so humbled by this courage!!!!” Akinleye wrote in a Facebook post.

A Thai woman has taken to her social media page to accuse her Nigerian boyfriend of domestic violence.

She also shared a couple of videos showing the injuries allegedly inflicted on her by him.

Pattara Bumrungsak and Williams Ransom Uzoma live in Malaysia, which is where the alleged abuse took place. Pattara claims he beat her in public and it was her neighbours who intervened.

She also said she still loves him and doesn’t want to report him to the police but all she wants is an apology from him.

Sharing clips of her injury, she wrote:

“He is good at talking and lying anything he say to cover up himself because it is what he’s always done in life! I will never make a report or put him in trouble with the police, but i only want an apology from him! I do love this man but after all this i better stop. And one thing I hate the most is why his brother supports and protects him after all of this! They blamed me for tarnishing the house name because I got beaten by his brother again! Like seriously!!!! if he cared about their safety, he wouldn’t beat me outside of the house like that. All of our neighbors saw what he did to me and are witnesses. According to reports, Italian authorities have arrested four Nigerian citizens accused of human trafficking and forcing underage migrant girls into prostitution, including through the use of esoteric rituals.

Four Nigerian citizens, of whom three are women, have been arrested in the province of Caserta as part of an investigation by the Catania anti-mafia police into the trafficking of Nigerians who were brought to Italy and forced into prostitution.

Those arrested were a 42-year-old woman and her 36-year-old brother, his 31-year-old wife and a 26-year-old woman.

They are accused of working with other unidentified suspects in Nigeria and Libya in human trafficking, an aggravated crime due to its cross-border nature; as well as causing harm to minors and exposing the injured parties to serious danger to their lives and their physical integrity.

The investigation began following statements made by a Nigerian minor named “Onda” (name changed to protect privacy, ed.), who disembarked in Catania in July 2016 from the Italian Coast Guard ship “Luigi Dattilo” together with 359 other migrants.

From her story, investigators learned that she had been recruited in Nigeria with the false promise of work in Italy, after having undergone an esoteric “juju” ritual, with which she agreed to repay the sum of about 20,000 euros. Once she arrived in Sicily, the young woman was taken from the reception centre where she was being hosted and was forced into prostitution.

Police were able to reconstruct the stories of other young Nigerian girls who, like “Onda”, were forced to prostitute themselves for a monthly payment of about 100 euros. They worked at outposts called “ugbo”, which means “the land”. These indicated the few meters of road assigned to each girl, and the police operation took this word for the name of the operation.
