“Many artistes are turning to dru.gs due to rejection” – MI Abaga claims
Popular Nigerian rapper, Jude Abaga, better known as MI Abaga, has claimed that mental health problems are more common among those working in the entertainment sector.
According to him, artists frequently encounter rejection, which can lead to despondency when pessimism creeps in and there is no apparent support system.

In a recent interview, MI Abaga stated that when an artist becomes popular, things grow worse because they start abusing drugs.
He said; “Creatives are generally more at risk of mental health challenges, to the extent that even when we are in the middle of it, there is no support. We face a lot of rejection, hopelessness, and negativity. Yet, when one becomes successful, it gets even worse.
The problem is so big and many artists are turning to drug abuse. We need to tackle the issue collectively to find ways to help creatives in Nigeria and Africa when faced with rejection.”
Additionally, he believes that decentralising the creative sector is a key strategy for advancing the nation’s entertainment business.
He said; “The entertainment industry needs to be decentralised for it to really develop. Take South Africa for instance, if I want to shoot a film, it is probably better to go to Cape Town, and if I want to shoot a music video, I would go to Johannesburg. The more we develop in different areas, the better the country gets.
Also, in the United States of America, there are places like Atlanta, New York, Texas that have thriving entertainment hubs, and in the United Kingdom, there are places like London and Liverpool.
But, in Nigeria, we only have Lagos and there is a drop off. However, places like Plateau State can really develop and be a part of the industry. For people like me, who have been in the industry for a while, and have had the opportunity to learn, this is a great time to give back, and I’m starting from Jos.”

“How I empowered my cleaner to buy his own car” – Joey Akan
Nigerian entertainment journalist Joey Akan, has shared an intriguing story of how he helped his office cleaner achieve job progress and how it improved the cleaner’s life.
He claimed to have once seen the cleaner using Photoshop videos in his office and asked why, to which the cleaner replied that he didn’t own a computer.

Joey, who described the events on Twitter, claimed he bought the domestic helper a laptop so he could study graphic design with his first paycheck.
The podcaster went on to say that the same cleaner recently used money he earned from design work to buy himself a vehicle.
He clarified that he chose to assist his cleaner since, in a similar situation, a merchant had given him his first computer as a student when he was unable to pay for it out of sympathy.
He wrote;
“I once walked into my office kitchen, saw the cleaner watching Photoshop videos. I asked why, and he said “I don’t have a computer.
My first salary, I asked him for the laptop price and paid for it. Today, that cleaner just bought his first car from that graphic design, and I’m celebrating with him.
Why did I do it? My first computer, I couldn’t afford the full price as a student, but I wanted to write. A trader in Port Harcourt, simply took pity on me that hot afternoon, collected what I had and gave me a new laptop. In my own way, I’m paying that kindness forward.”
“When I was an ex0tic dancer, do you know how much I charge?” – BBN’s Chichi reveals (WATCH)
It would appear that for Big Brother Naija housemate, ChiChi is no longer in the exotic dancing business – a profession she had never shied away in revealing she engaged in.
The curvaceous reality TV star and businesswoman, was a housemate in the Level Up edition of the popular reality show and was one of the popular housemates as she even made it to the grand finale of the show which saw her eviction.

During her time on the show, Chichi was never shy to mention that she was in the exotic dancing profession and she made sure to prove it occasionally in the house, her “service” which was enjoyed by some male members of the show.
Well, in a new development, it would seem that Chichi is no longer in the stripping business. This came into light after a video of her trying to give a lap dance to her stylist emerged online.
In the video, Chichi is seen being glammed up by her supposed stylist and while the latter was trying to concentrate on glamming her up, Chichi was being rather playful and trying to extend the play to her stylist.

As it looked like the stylist was uninterested in Chichi’s attempt, the reality star scowled at her stylist telling her to stay put so she can give her a lap dance. She then went on to say “When I was an ex0tic dancer, do you know how much I charge?” which can be interpreted as her no longer indulging in that line of profession anymore.

“Social media is a place where you don’t need formal training to be a fo.ol” – AY Makun
Nigerian comedian AY Makun has shared his thoughts on the regrettable direction social media has been taking lately.
AY asserted that everyone dumb enough to speak out and express something that moves the crowd is applauded.

He continued by saying it’s funny how some individuals wear their ignorance with a great lot of dignity and style, based just on what they see or feel.
He wrote;
“Social media is now the new king Kong, where feelings are now more important than objective facts. If a foolish person comes out and says something that unlocks the feeling of an audience, he or she gets praised. But if a wise person comes and says something that is contrary to how people want to feel, he or she gets persecuted.
Social media is a place where you dont need formal training to know how to be a fool. You just have to be born foolish and be free enough to express your foolishness. It’s a place that gives you confidence even in your ignorance. It is the only place where you can freely express the nothingness of your not knowing close anything before your interferences.
The funny part is that a lot of people carry their ignorance with a lot of class and a lot of confidence based on what they see or feel. But we must also understand that each community is entitled to have a fool or a community of fools that recognizes and accepts the foolishness of others as a brand to submit to. Such foolishness does not stop you from being a man or woman. It does not even stop you from not having fans and followers cut across the strata of different foolish endeavors.
Having said that, more foolish people will continue to evaluate their performances in the space by creating sensationalism and negative viral content for the [entertainment pleasures of their different audiences. But as long as foolish individuals do not care about the stress, pain, anxiety, loneliness, and depression they bring you, the more it is also very important for them to enjoy the consequences of their actions.
