“I love you, but fact is fact,” – Edafe Okporo, replies Williams Uchemba after accusing the U.S-based activist of fraud

Edafe Okporo who revealed that the actor is a fraudulent, has countered Williams Uchemba’s claim in a video he released last night, which debunked allegations of scamming people as a UN Assembly ambassador.

Edafe Okporo who shared a video which countered the claims, stated that he loves Williams Uchemba but fact is fact.

According to the US based Nigerian activist, he has never exchanged any message with the actor as he claimed, and there is no way a verified Instagram account can be used by another person for fraud.

Edafe further stated that Williams Uchemba is now a man, and has to take responsibility for his actions and wrongdoings.

The Nigerian lawyer also wondered how the actor who claims he is a Nigerian youth representative at the Youth Assembly, will not know the UN Youth Envoy (the key youth platform at the UN assembly).

He added that the alleged fraud perpetrated by the actor, is ruining Nigeria’s image.

Man refueling working generator sets shops attached to palace ablaze in Lagos

Not long after fire gutted about 25 shops attached to the palace of the Elekunpa of Ekunpa, Oba Kosoko, Kazeem, in the Shibiri area of Ojo Local Government Area, Lagos State, business owners, whose shops were affected by the inferno are yet to recover from the shock.

PUNCH Metro observed during a visit to the palace that some of the victims had resorted to auctioning the remainder of their goods, while others, who had sustained burns from the fire, were nursing their injuries.

One of the victims, Eucharia Abu, said a boy was pouring fuel into a working generator, which led to an explosion that caused all the shops attached to the palace to be burnt.

The Imo State indigene said,

“Around 2pm, one of the boys employed at the Bet9ja shop was pouring fuel into a generator when the generator and the keg of petrol caught fire. Out of fear, he threw the keg away and ran for safety; and it was that burning keg that attracted another generator, before the fire spread to the food vendor, who was using gas to cook. It was when the fire got in contact with the gas that the whole place exploded and the inferno got out of control.

“The fire burnt the whole shops, including the goods stacked in them; all my goods were burnt, because I was completely unaware that my shop and many other had been affected from behind. But when we noticed the fire, some boys got water to put it out, while others climbed the rooftop and started cutting planks that could attract fire. And that was how they prevented it from spreading to the palace building. I lost goods worth over N100, 000, but a man who sells flour here lost goods worth over N5m.”

A food vendor, Selina Samson , whose shop was located beside the Bet9ja shop, said the fire made her to lose valuables worth over N1.4m.

The Ogun State indigene said,

“I was in the shop washing the meat we bought from the market when I heard an explosion. When I looked outside, I saw that the generator we were using had caught fire and it had spread into my shop located beside the Bet9ja shop.

‘I am not a Fraudster- Williams Uchemba Denies Claim Of Scamming People As ‘UN Ambassador’

Former Nollywood child actor, Williams Uchemba, has denied claims of fraud against him after messages of him requesting money to arrange a delegation to a United Nations youth event in the United States went viral on Sunday.

A US-based Nigerian human rights activist, Edafe Okporo, had shared a screenshot of a supposed chat thread with Uchemba in which the former child actor allegedly said, “I will need three things from you: passport data page, email address and registration fee ($1,000). After payment is confirmed, I will then send you a questionnaire for you to fill and send back.

“The $1,000 covers for your United Nations invitation letter (which is what you will take to the embassy and the UN will also send a copy to the embassy) which is also registration and admission into the UN HQ, your training materials and certificate from the United Nations, your US visa process and filling of your DA-160 (online form).”

Following queries made on social media, United Nations Youth Envoy, Ms Jayathma Wickramanayake, who is an aide to the Secretary-General of the UN, António Guterres, said Uchemba was unknown to the organisation.

But Uchemba, in a series of videos on Instagram, disowned a Twitter account in his name as that of a known fraudster.

Williams said he had warned his followers in May about people impersonating him and that he did not know how to stop impersonators.

He said :

“First of all, I have said it tons of times, ‘Be careful with scammers.’ I have posted a lot of pictures of people using my name to defraud people. I have reported a lot of accounts.

“As a matter of fact, there is a guy on Twitter. I’m not on Twitter; I have never had a Twitter account. He has 15,000 followers posing to be me. His name is Williams Uchemba and a lot of people he has defrauded have called me to say, ‘There is somebody using that (name)’ and I don’t know what to do about that.

“Secondly, let me also state again that I’m the Deputy Nigerian Youth Representative, Youth Assembly at the United Nations, not ‘UN ambassador in the United Nations.’ These are different bodies. The people that organise the youth assembly are the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation.”

In the bio section of Uchemba’s verified Instagram, however, he is described as “Nigerian Youth Rep Youth Assembly at the UN.”

If you are aware of what is happening in Nigeria, there have not been appointment dates in the US embassy. If you check now you’ll be seeing April and the conference is in February. Some of the people we registered the last time couldn’t get appointments.

“In fact, the last one was horrible because nobody could go to the embassy. So we have a lot of delegates pending because we’ve sent their names for their invitation letters and they cannot go to the embassy for visas.”

According to him, after consideration, he decided he was not going to put his aspiring delegates through as usual, opting to register only people with visa, which he said was the original plan.

Uchemba added, “Now, some guy tagged me and I saw it and was shocked. I’ve never met him. He was never my delegate. He said, ‘Williams, you’re a scammer.’ I said, ‘Oga, why are you calling me out? I don’t even know you. What have I done to you?’

“He said, ‘People said.’ And I said, ‘But you didn’t even ask me.’ If you had come to ask me, ‘Why is this charge like this?’ I would have explained to you. I’m not the US embassy; I don’t give visa. When people come and say, ‘Williams, after we get the invitation and you put us through, is the visa guaranteed?’ and I say no.

“So, you can either do it yourself or we have people. The reason people pay that amount is that we employ people to do these things. We pay them. So, it is very disheartening for this information to get out without proper investigation.”

The former actor further explained that he had never heard of the Office of the UN Youth Envoy until the allegations of fraud were made against him.

Lady gets dumped by her boyfriend after they had se.x and he ate all her mother’s chicken

A Nigerian lady has taken to Twitter to reveal how her parents damaged her while growing up before she then called out her boyfriend who dumped her after eating all her mum’s chicken.

The Nigerian lady who admitted that she grew up in a religious family, shared that she always wanted freedom and got it when one Tunde, a man who supplies her mum with chicken feed made her feel comfortable.

@adeola_adereti who called out her boyfriend for dumping her after eating all her mum’s chicken, wrote;

The name of d guy who ate my mama’s chicken n broke up with me d following week is Tunde. D story of hw we met started 3 months b4, and yes he was my 1st boyfriend. Our 1st time of having sex was in my parents’ house, under my mum’s nose. Follow me as I tell d story A thread.

I have often seen people pray for their parents. Some do wish they have the same kind of partner as their mum or dad. I don’t wish that 4 myself, and the only prayer I can pray for my parents is only for forgiveness. They literary damaged me. They know that now. But it came late.

I grew up in a highly religious family, where everything must be refined: language, dressing, friends, activities e.t.c We were just two, my sister (Iyanu) and I; and we have no say of our own. Our activities were defined; it must be from home to school or church. No other.

Our parents cut us off totally from the world. I grew up as a girl with so much hatred. I just detested others for being happy, because I have no such chance. So I kept no friends while growing up because their lives were not similar to mine, and I saw no point in togetherness.

My Mum often said the world is corrupt, and the only way we could be protected frm its evil fruits was to ‘keep away from the world’. So I grew up to enjoying staying inside the car whenever we attend a relation’s wedding or naming ceremony as a family. I was to eat my food there

I also grew up to fast most days when it was not comfortable. Mum often said fast renews one’s strength, and it gets one closer to God. And for that, I fasted most times, because I wanted to get closer to God—wanted to ask Him why he hated me so much to create me here.

So I was living in a cage, so to say. No freedom at all!! Tunde came into my life to change that. He was one of those men that supplied my mum her chicken feeds. Whenever they came, I was d one who attended to them. I was to make sure they supplied all that was ordered.

It was through this that we got talking and he often teased me about my beauty. And when I smiled, he would say I should keep doing it, cuz he loved it. I was not the one to feel comfortable when a guy was talking to me. I was brought up to feel ashamed—to feel unease, restive!!

But Tunde made me feel comfortable with him. He would force me to lift my head up sometimes, and also said I should look him straight in the eyes. When I managed to, he would say, “you are indeed beautiful. Just smile. Smile, Ola.” And I would. He would then call me ‘queen’.

When my closeness with Tunde was getting intimate, I started developing feelings for him. I just wanted to be with him all the time. He wasn’t anything close to Bro. John (my extra lesson tutor) in terms of beauty. But I loved him more than him.

Whenever they came to our place like that, he would send his colleagues away and create time for me. When I teased him that he would get fired at his work, he told me his Uncle owned the shop. Little by little we started kissing and hugging more prominently. He was good at it.

Whenever he did that, he would hold my breasts in his hand as well. And sometimes, he would bring them out of my blouse and suck them. Sometimes I felt like having sex with him, but my sister was always at home, in her room reading or resting.

By the way, Tunde and his colleagues only came to our house by evening. Something around 4:30pm. That was about time we came back from school. Our mother did always come back around 7:30. So when Tunde and his friends came like that, we spent 1hour together.

Fast forward to the day we had our first sex, we had planned it so well together. He was to jumped into our compound through the back fence, and stay inside our poultry around 9pm. And wait there until dad finished watching his NTA news by 10pm, and Mum finished d night devotion.

At around 10:45 when all this was done, Mum bade us goodnight. I made sure they had gone to their own quarters of the flat and my sister had gone to her room, before I opened the backdoor for Tunde. I ushered him into my room immediate. Moment later, we had IT. Good Bleep!!

Later, Tunde started teaching me lies, so I could be coming out to see him at his place. My Extra Lesson section with Bro. John was every Saturday. I stay there from morning till late in the evening. Tunde saw it as an opportunity, so he asked me to liaise a deal with Bro John

When I told Bro John I would be seeing a friend sometimes on Saturday and that he should not tell Mum, he said he couldn’t come through with such deal. So I blackmailed him. I told him I would inform Mum about the story I shared here earlier, when I said he sucked my breasts once

…while teaching me, and he agreed to letting me see my friend. Later, Tunde and I were now seeing each other at his place. Each time, I made sure I cooked along. And each time, I get bleeped. I must add that he bleeped so well, the guys I met later in life were not close.

I also used to pay him money indirectly for bleeping me, because each time I called him to inform him I was coming over, he would add “come with money”. The day I didn’t go with money, he refused to meet with me despite my pleas. So, every Saturday, I would keep 2k or 3k for him.

When my dad was sacked from work, and things got tough, I couldn’t afford to pay him again. So I resortd to killing a full chicken 4 him; whereas @ dat time, chicken was not in our food again at home. My Mum sold them now. Things were hard. Bt each Sat, a chicken must get missing

The penultimate week to our breakups (the story of which went viral here), I told him I wanted to come over, and he asked me to come with a flask of chicken. Aaaah!! We only had one chicken left in the cage. My Mum sold the others off a week bf, when she noticed they were…

…missing one by one. I told him what was at stake and he told me to forget visiting him. I couldn’t afford that, so I told him I would find a way. You all know how it ended. I killed the ONLY chicken left in our cage, fried it, and gave it all to him.

The following week, he summoned me over. I took along a flask of spaghetti. No chicken, nor anything inside, this time. When I got to his place, he looked me from head to toe and told me I am becoming ‘fat’. I told him I had always looked that way and he got angry.

“Are you saying, I’m a liar!” I said I didn’t said that and wasn’t suggesting that. He slapped me and said I was raising my voice at him. When I knelt to beg him, he pushed me away and said a statement I would never forget, “Carry your cooler and leave my house. You too soft”

And that was it. He pushed me out. That was the last time I saw him. I was really damaged all through that month, and my mother made it worse. I have forgiven both of them now because I am a better woman for it. I learnt from it, and wear the lesson everyday. Now I’m free.

I got his twitter handle just now. He should stop threatening me. @vicrade Come out and tell the world what I did wrong then. I haven’t said anything wrong to you in anyway, have I?

Nigeria Is finished if Buhari remains for another 4 years – Peter Obi says

Vice presidential candidate of PDP, Peter Obi, says Nigeria’s economy will keep “bleeding” if President Muhammadu Buhari remains in power for another four years.

Speaking in Lagos on Saturday, Obi made reference to the 2019 budget Buhari presented to the national assembly on Wednesday.

According to him, Nigeria will not survive if Buhari’s goes ahead with plans to tax “poor Nigerians,” in line with provisions of the proposed budget which is largely focused on debt servicing.

“We need to know where we are going as a nation but with Buhari at the helms of affairs, we do not know where we are going. Buhari is not in charge of this government as he does not know or care what the poor people are going through,” he said.

“Nigerians are currently the poorest people on earth, yet the Muhammadu Buhari administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still looking at taxing them the more.

“Take look at the budget presented by the President a few days ago and you will see that it does not give anyone hope instead, it tells us that we are still where we have always been.

“A quarter of the budget is meant to service debts, and that is about 60% of the budget while the President keeps telling Nigerians to tighten their belts because of the harsh times staring at us in the future.

“Does that give anyone confidence in this government? Not at all, I dare say. While presenting the budget, he said that the government is looking for ways to tax Nigerians the more. What are you taxing the poor people for?

“Does that give any one of us hope in this government? That means that if we keep them for the next four years, we are finished.”

Outlining what Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate, will do to “reverse the situation” if elected to power, Obi said focus will be placed on reviving small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He said Atiku’s administration will restore investor confidence and improve ease of doing business in the country to stimulate economic growth.

“We know the situation looks gloomy but we are not scared of going in to salvage the country. The situation with Nigeria is like an accident victim. The first thing to do in such a situation is to stop the bleeding first by applying first aid before the real treatment,” he said.

“Unless the right steps are taken to stop the bleeding, we will still be where we have been for years.

“It’s going to be difficult but we know where we are going and what we are going to do. To put the Nigerian economy back on a sound footing, we have to take a holistic look at SMEs because only then will you rescue the dwindling economy.

“We need to change the way we do things in this country if we ever hope to come out of this economic quagmire we have found ourselves in. We must change the way we do things in this country or we will continue to grope in the dark.”

ASUU Strike: Union threatens to boycott future meetings, accuse FG of deceiving Nigerians

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it may not honour further calls by the federal government for a meeting on the way forward over the current strike by its members.

The union’s National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, stated this on the sideline of a news conference on the update of the union’s struggle to salvage the country’s public universities from deterioration on Sunday in Lagos.

According to Ogunyemi, to ensure that the agreements were implemented, the union had held a series of consultative meetings with the government and written series of letters with little or nothing to the effect.

He noted that it was against this backdrop that union resumed strike on November 4.

“Since the commencement of this strike, we have had six meetings with agents of the federal government, with no clear commitment from government to resolving the issues we presented.

Government appears to have adopted ‘keep them talking’ strategy while deceiving the public that progress was being made and that partial agreements had been reached between union and government.

We want to say that government has continually and falsely raised the hopes of the Nigerian public on the state of duscussion with our union and we may not be interested in holding further dialogue with them until we see signs of commitment and sincerity in addressing the issues before them.

Our expectation from a very responsive and sincere position is that by now, all outstanding issues would have been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. Unfortunately, government is yet to show commitment and sincerity in addressing these problems,” he said. .

According to the don, on the renegotiation of Federal Government/ASUU agreement, there are still unresolved issues about the leadership of the government team. . “We have strong reasons to believe that the continuation of Dr Wale Babalakin as the head of the renegotiation with ASUU will not yield good fruit,” he said.

Ogunyemi said his union had taken up its current project as a lifetime, adding that this was why dating back to the 1980s, the union had remained consistent on what was of concern to it.

“If we miss education, we miss development as we will end up being enslaved the second time. What is happening in this country now is that people are privatising everything, including education and before we know it, what happened to our primary and secondary education will happen.

And these are some of the things we are supposed to be tracking and engage in this society if we want to make the change that we need. Our conviction is the reason behind the prolonged strike and our members have the conviction that until we get education right, Nigeria will never get it right. Insurgency will increase, banditry, poverty, kidnapping, misery and other societal ills will continue.

Let me also state clearly too that our strike has nothing to do with politics or election, as is being speculated in some sectors of the society. We have never thought of aborting any election. We do not want to create problem for this country but let the government do the right thing,” he said.

Jazz musician continues to play guitar while surgeons operate on his brain to remove tumor (Video)

A jazz musician with a brain tumour continued to play his guitar during his brain surgery in South Africa – Musa Manzini, from South Africa, played his guitar during the successful operation.

According to one of the neurosurgeons, Dr. Rohen Harrichandparsad, the playing of the guitar helped guide surgeons during the delicate surgery whilst “preserving natural pathways“.

Mr Manzini was given local anaesthetic by doctors during the procedure, also known as an “awake craniotomy” at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Durban.

Dr Harrichandparsad said:

It increased the margin of safety for us, in that we could have real-time feedback on what we were doing intraoperatively.

Doctors said they gave Mr Manzini his instrument toward the end of the procedure so they could check that everything was in order. The doctors wanted to test Mr Manzini’s “ability to produce music” during surgery, which requires the complex interaction of pathways in the brain.

A photo and video taken by the medical team shows the musician lying with his guitar in the operating room.

“There you are, do your thing,” a team member says as he begins playing.

In an “awake craniotomy,” some doctors choose to stimulate parts of the brain with a mild electrical current as a way of testing and mapping areas that control key functions of the brain such as movement and speech. If a patient is struggling to speak when the current is applied to a particular area, doctors know they must protect it during tumour removal.
