The Principal-General of Government Technical College, Abak, Akwa Ibom State, Mr Friday Udoka, has apologized for flogging a serving female corps member in the school, Miss Olaitan Adeola Kolawole.
Udoaka, at the NYSC state office yesterday in Uyo, said he did not deliberately flog the corps member, noting that he used the cane on her out of anger.
Miss Kolawole was said to have written the name of her friend, Dolapo Victoria in the attendance register of the school on Friday, October 19, 2018 when Dolapo was absent.
The principal who has just three years to retire from service was said to have flogged Kolawole for the “misdeamour” and dragged her outside the classroom in front of the students; the allegation he denied.
“No man is perfect, I have not beaten a corps member before. I am very sorry for using a cane on a corper. Adeola, I am very sorry for what happened.
“When I went back home, I felt bad for beating a woman. It is not true that I dragged the corper out of my office and flogged her before the students. This is a man that behaves like a father, but I don’t know what happened that I behaved rudely with you. Please forgive me.
“The mistake will not repeat itself. Whatever is the cost of your treatment, I will bear the cost,” he said.
Responding, Miss Kolawole said she had no justification not to accept the apology of an elder saying, “For an elder to apologize for his mistake, I forgive him. I accept his apology. My parents wanted to take up the matter, but I will talk to them not to pursue the case as they wanted”.
The Commissioner for Education, Victor Inoka, who was also at the ‘reconciliation meeting’, made a personal donation of N50,000 to Miss Kolawole for her treatment.
NYSC Coordinator Mr Amusu Julius said he was writing his report on the incident to brief the corps directorate, but had to stop because the Commissioner for Education asked that a reconciliation be arranged between the parties involved.

The Director of Strategy and Documentation of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Olisa Mbakwe on Monday announced that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu has been sacked from the group.
Mbakwe said Kanu was fired for placing more value on his dog than those murdered in the struggle for the realisation of Biafra.
Speaking during Sunday’s broadcast from his base in Israel, Kanu mourned his dog and “a few other people” in his compound, who lost their lives when military men invaded the place in September 2017.
Kanu had said during the broadcast, “The Army of the zoo killed my dog Jack and a few other people in my compound. I am sorry for what my sureties are passing through, but I want to assure them that they will have a special place in Biafra. I shall not be honouring the court.”
Reacting, Mbakwe described Kanu as an “insensitive and callous leader that has no value for his own followers but rather his dog, Jack whom he paid tributes to after his long disappearance from the struggle”.
In a statement he personally signed, Mbakwe, of IPOB, also insisted that Kanu was a “traitor not worthy of any leadership position anywhere in the world”.
He stated that Kanu was removed for reasons which included, “personalisation of the Biafran struggle and derailing from the core objectives of IPOB as a grassroots movement”.
The statement read:
“On Sunday, October 21, 2018, an individual, Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, claiming to be the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director General of Radio Biafra made a live broadcast that has left us perplexed, because it is unthinkable that someone will impersonate IPOB to the point of plotting to abuse the organization to hurt the interest of Biafra.
“The strength of the Republic of Biafra that we are struggling to actualize, is in its human resources as embodied in our versatile youths that dominate the fields of play across sectors of human endeavor; the country we have set our vision on creating is therefore not to be made up of tombstones but of people fulfilling their life missions as ordained by God.
“Nnamdi Kanu relinquished his position as the leader of IPOB struggle the day he deserted our members to die, when they had mobilized to stand for our belief in Biafra at his residence in Afaraukwu.
Several of our members were injured and some died in that encounter and even after emerging from hiding more than one year later all Kanu could do was to desecrate their memory with his radio broadcast.
Nnamdi Kanu vividly, specifically and particularly recalled his family dog, Jack, by name while he dismissed our members that died as mere statistics — he only recalled them as 28 IPOB members.
“Even if Kanu had not deserted, there is no way we would have continued under the leadership of a man that values his family dog more than Biafrans.
“We are not unmindful of how Kanu struck the deal that granted him bail in the first place while abandoning our members, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawusi, Bright Chimezie Ishinwa and Chidiebere Onwudiwe to languish in jail.
Instead of using his freedom to accelerate the freedom of these authentic freedom fighters, he rather went about Biafra land receiving obeisance from Biafrans like a monarch, when our dear land is completely republican. The travails of these our brothers are not over yet and might have been worsened by Kanu’s live broadcast, which has totally upset us.
“In line with the decisions earlier announced on Radio Biafra on November 17, 2017 that Mazi Ezenwachukwu Sampson Okwudili is the new director for the radio, we reaffirm that Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu remains sacked as the Director of Radio Biafra and has also been removed as the leader of IPOB since he has proven he is not a worthy leader that respects the sanctity of the lives of our members.
“Following interventions by our leaders, considerations were being made to reverse the earlier announcement but after studying the Kanu’s live broadcast from Israel we came to the painful conclusion that we cannot make progress with our vision of Biafra, when one man has completely personalized and commercialized the struggle.
The decision to drop Nnamdi Kanu from playing leading roles in IPOB affairs is hereby upheld. We shall announce replacements after consultations with the various stakeholders.”

The Police in Ogun State arrested a 38-year-old Abiodun Ojo, for alleged defilement of a six year old girl – Abiodun was arrested at Magbara, a village near Idiroko, a border community in Ipokia Local Government Council Area, also in Ogun State.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was a co-tenant with the victim’s parents.
He was said to have lured the girl into a bush path under the pretence of wanting to send her on an errand and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“It was the shouting and crying of the girl that attracted the attention of local vigilante operatives who rescued the girl and placed a distress call to Police at Idiroko division. The DPO, CSP Aloko Amodu, quickly led his men to the scene and promptly arrested the suspect who had been severely beaten by angry mob”, Oyeyemi stated in a press statement made available to Crimepuzzle.
The PPRO further said that both the suspect and the victim were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
According to Abimbola, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
A young pastor, his junior pastor and a female member of his church were murdered by unknown assailants in Umuoba, Abia State.
The pastor has been identified as Blessed Kelechi Iwuanyanwu from Mbano in Imo State, while the Assistant pastor is Ambassador Kalu Ikeagwu from Arochukwu.
The female member, said to be woman leader of the church and a divorcee with three children was identified as Ruth Andrew. According to reports, the woman’s ex-husband lives abroad and the pastor had plans to marry her.
The bodies were discovered last Friday, at the late pastor’s residence scene, Umuobia Housing Estate, Olokoro.
Some of the relatives and church members at the scene said the suspected murderers must have carried out the act last Sunday morning as the two pastors were not in church that Sunday till Friday evening when they visited the house and saw dead bodies.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID, Patrick Edung who led the police to the the scene to evacuate the bodies, said the police has commenced investigation in the matter.
The decomposed bodies have since been deposited in a mortuary.

A Chief Magistrate Court in Akure earlier today, remanded Ebenezer Adejimola, the said boyfriend of 20-year-old model, Seun Ajila, who was raped and murdered at her family house at Sunday bus stop in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Thursday, October 4th in prison.
Though the 20-year-old model was buried last week, her boyfriend who is a student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, was remanded in prison as the court adjourned sitting till 22nd of January 2019.
The case was adjourned by Magistrate Yakub, the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP advices the court on the case. The charge sheet reads,
“Count I: That you, on the 4th of October 2018, between 1705hrs and 1910hrs, did kill Oluwaseun by strangulating and stabbing her with kitchen knife which resulted in her death.
“Count II: That you, on same date, did rape Oluwaseun.” The mother of the deceased had alleged that the suspect called her, twice, on the day she was murdered, asking her where she (the mother) was.
Head of states, President Muhammadu Buhari who received Kwara state All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the 2019 polls earlier today, stated that Nigerians who feel they have another country may choose to go.
The President who enjoined Nigerians to remain faithful and loyal to the country in all their dealings, added that he and others who do not have another country would stay back and salvage Nigeria together.
His senior adviser to media and publicity, Femi Adesina stated that the president who received the All Progressives Congress governorship aspirants and members of the party from the three senatorial zones of Kwara State at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said;

A man has been apprehended and is currently in police custody for allegedly defiling a nine year old girl in Warri area of Delta State.
The police officers attached to B-Division Warri swung into action immediately the case was reported and tracked the suspected rapist known as Aghogho Matthew to his residence.
The officers went after him in the mid-night and arrested him just as he was preparing to escape on hearing that the police have been notified.
The alleged rapist said after his arrest that he only used his fingers for the act contrary to doctors’ report that revealed there was penetration.
The suspect has been detained at the police station and would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Former BBNaija Housemate, Nina Chinonso Onyenobi popularly known as Nina Ivy took to her Instagram page to share some photos of herself with her mother and sisters as she celebrates her mother’s birthday.
They all appear to share a striking resemblance.

A Nigerian lady identified as Miss Funmi has taken to twitter to express her excitement after she discovered that a certain Nigerian politician James Ibori was used as an example at an anti-bribery course she attended overseas.
In a photo she posted on her timeline, James Ibori was depicted in an un-labeled chart alongside another man who was on phone.
She wrote:

Omoyele Sowore has been pictured at a lake with lots of other people present with him as his presidential campaign continues ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The politician who is the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), shared photos of himself at the lake surrounded by many people who came to see him.
He didn’t reveal where the lake was but his captioned showed that the people only came out solely to witness him in action.
Sowore shared the photos of himself at the lake via his Facebook page.
