A househelp has narrated her tale of the sufferings she’s endured from her bosses, and this has generated a lot of sympathy and outrage from folks on social media.
The lady, now 20, has revealed that she began working as a househelp when she was still a teenager, and she’s been sexually assaulted by her male bosses.
The wife of one of the men made her feel it was her fault and maltreated her as a result. She escaped when the man tried to rape her.
Aadly, her experience as a househelp in Lagos didn’t get any better. One of her employers who was a pastor also tried to rape her.
Sharing her story with Humans of New York, she said:
“I want to live a happy life. I’m tired of living a poor life. I’m trying to save money for school but nothing is working. I’ve left home three different times looking for work. The first time I found a job as a housekeeper. But every morning when I got dressed the man would try to touch me. I was only seventeen. He wouldn’t even stop when I threatened to tell on him. His wife blamed me for his attention. She beat me severely. There were bruises all over my body. She didn’t even allow me to eat. But I tried to stay because I wanted to go to school so badly. Then one morning he tried to rape me in the bath, and I finally ran away. When I found a new housekeeping job, the same thing happened. This time it was a pastor. So a few weeks ago I switched to a cleaning job at an art gallery. But they just fired me for speaking to the visitors. I don’t know why this always happens to me. It makes me so angry. I get mad at my parents for being poor. I get mad at my friends for going to school. When I see their graduation pictures on Facebook, I just start crying. I’m already twenty years old. I should be finishing school, but I haven’t even started yet. But everything has it’s own time. Hopefully my time will come too.”

Head of States, President Muhammadu Buhari has put a phone call through to Leah Sharibu’s mother, promising to do all he can to bring back her daughter.
Mrs Rebecca Sharibu, the mother of the Dapchi Secondary schoolgirl, Leah, who had been kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists received a call from the president earlier today.
On Wednesday, the President spoke with Mrs Rebecca Sharibu, mother of the Dapchi Secondary schoolgirl, Leah, who had been kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists, and assured her that his administration will do everything it would take to bring her daughter back home.
Leah was among the 101 girls kidnapped in February this year by Boko Haram from Government Girls’ Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, located in Bulabulin, Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State.
Most of the girls were freed a month later, five were unaccounted for but the insurgents are still holding on to Leah because she refused to renounce her Christian faith.
The insurgents have since issued a deadline of October 15 for the federal government to move for her release or she will be killed.
The President consoled the Sharibu family and assured the parents that the Federal Government would do its utmost for the safety and security of their daughter.
The president told her;
“I convey my emotion, the strong commitment of my administration and the solidarity of all Nigerians to you and your family as we will do our best to bring your daughter home in peace and safety,”

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo made a mockery of PDP’s governorship candidate in the recently concluded Osun state gubernatorial election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and fellow party member, Senator Dino Malaye, during his speech at the Independence Gala night held at the Banquet hall of the Presidential Villa.
Osibanjo said he agreed with the poll reportedly conducted by the British Independent newspapers which declared Nigerians as the happiest and most optimistic people in the world.
He went on to mock Senator Adeleke stating that he provided humour with his dance moves while Senator Melaye made Nigerians laugh by claiming he had escaped assassination by hiding on a tree top for 11 hours.
Read below;
“A few months ago, an important Nigerian politician who was on his way to a trial in a court said he was abducted. And after he escaped from his abductors, he remained hiding on a tree for 11 hours.
The most interesting part of that story is that many people online in particular, on the Internet, started to tell stories of different birds and how long those birds could remain perched on a tree. All these were the Nigerian contributions to that story.
Yet another very important politician insists, and still insists that the most important attribute for leadership is dancing, and boy could he dance! And for those who think that that is ridiculous, at least 200,000 people voted for him in a particular election.”
Police officers have launched a manhunt after a blood soaked goat was found bleating in agony on a beach opposite a hotel in South Africa used by the rich. A voodoo dagger was plunged up to the hilt in the goat’s back.
Police believe it was supposed to have been slaughtered as a sacrifice in a black magic ritual during a full moon but escaped from its tether and was found the following dawn.
The goat was found bleating in pain on Camps Bay beach in Cape Town – a top tourist spot – opposite The Bay Hotel.
It is thought a group of devil worshippers had taken the black goat – its colour is significant in witchcraft rituals – down to the shoreline to slaughter it in the shallows.
The handle of the sacrificial knife found in the goat’s back had been wrapped in red cloth and what appears to be human hair.
Cape of Good Hope SPCA, an animal rescue charity, were called out by police and managed to calm and catch the goat and transfer it back to their hospital for medical attention.
The goat was named Hilda and was immediately operated on by a vet and the blade was safely removed and it is believed the injured animal will make a full recovery.
Law Enforcement officer Wayne Dyason said: ‘It is suspected the animal was involved in some type of ritual that occurred during the night on the beach but managed to evade its captors.
‘The handle of the knife was wrapped in red cloth material with hair woven into it.
We are making inquiries to discover who is responsible for stabbing the goat and we will prosecute under the Animal Protection Act and are appealing for any information’ he said.

Burgers may increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer, new Harvard research warns..
Processed meat has long been linked to other cancers of the pancreas, prostate and bowels, but this study is the first to show a link with tumors that start in the breast.
Women who consumed the most processed meat were nine percent more likely to develop the disease, according to a meta-analysis of data from 28 previous studies.

The state chairman of the APC, Mr Tunde Balogun, had at about 9pm on Tuesday declared the same results, despite the insistence of the Ebri-led panel that the primary never held.
Balogun insisted that the poll held and it was valid, contending that it would be unfair to disenfranchise about 1.5 million party members who participated in the poll.
Changing its position to align with Balogun on Wednesday morning, the Ebri panel, in a press statement, said, “After resolving some of the hiccups, the Lagos State APC Governorship Primary Committee collated the results from the 245 wards in the 20 local government areas from the collating officers.
“At the end of the exercise, these are the votes scored by the aspirants: 1. Gov Akinwunmi Ambode, 72,901 votes. 2. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, 970,851 votes.
“Following these results, I, Clement Ebri, the Chairman of the Lagos State APC Governorship Primary Committee hereby declare Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner.”
THEY are keeping themselves pure and waiting for the right men to marry them.
But people tell them to have sex or else the “salt” will fill up their heads.
But these virgins from Ekurhuleni have one answer for their critics: “Sorry, we are not in a hurry and we don’t have salt!”
Snegugu Radebe (22) from Daveyton said staying pure was a personal choice.
“I choose to remain a virgin because I want God to bless me with a man who will value me. We are often told we don’t know what we are missing out on and that we are instead accumulating salt,” said Snegugu.
“I advise girls not to rush into having sex. They must respect themselves. This will keep them safe from STIs.”
On Sunday, the virgins joined Skhulile Msane from Welgedacht, Springs as she celebrated her 21st birthday.
Skhulile said she wanted to focus on her education and didn’t want to be distracted by boys.
Their godmother, Dumazile Maphanga, said the girls were checked every month to make sure they were still virgins.
“If they break their virginity, they leave the group.
“We teach them to be vigilant and not give into peer pressure,” she said.
