President Buhari today blasted some elites who he said were silent and allowed the mismanagement of Nigeria.
He said this during a meeting with the Nigerian community in the United States of America on the margins of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The President who hailed ‘ordinary Nigerians’ who stood by him blamed the elite that allowed Nigeria to be mismanaged for 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration without as much as raising a voice in consternation.
“They didn’t say a word.
“Under the PTF (Petroleum Trust Fund, of which he was Chairman), we did roads from Lagos to Abuja, to Onitsha, to Port Harcourt. Since then, the roads were not done, between 1999 and 2015, yet the elite did not say a word,” Buhari noted in a statement signed on Friday by his special adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
The President also took a swipe at those who referred to him as ‘Baba Go Slow.’
He further blamed elites who he said had remained silent since 1983 when corrupt politicians that were jailed by his administration were later set free after he was put in detention.
“I was called Baba Go Slow. Those who were going fast, where did they get to?
“In 1983, military officers gathered and made me Head of State. I packed the politicians into jail, told them they were guilty until they could prove their innocence.
“We seized what they had looted, but after I myself was put in detention, the politicians were given back what they had looted. How many elites complained about that?
“Three times I contested elections; three times I went to court after the elections were rigged against me. No justice, but I said ‘God dey.’

Olori Ajoke and Tobby Pearl are names that’s currently trending on Twitter after both women had a brawl which led to the release of nudes.
Here’s the gist in details,
Tobby Pearl was having relations with Olori Ajoke’s husband and in course of this affair, she sent him nudes – this same Tobby had said in the past that she “doesn’t do married men”.
Olori Ajoke was aware of the affair between her husband and Tobby but kept quiet about it until Tobby came to her tweets to begin dropping subliminal tweets.
Olori Ajoke shared a Tweet saying real women stick to one man and Tobby replied saying:
But the real women’s men be dating all the girls. Let me just kpim.
This response certainly angered Olori Ajoke, who just had a baby, and she released the nudes Tobby sent to her husband – she also revealed that her husband has been made to pay the price for his infidelity and she doesn’t owe him her loyalty anymore.
She added that the only people she owes loyalty to are the people who are loyal to her.
Meanwhile, an old tweet shared by Tobby has been released in which she said that if she were ever in a situation where a man’s wife releases her nudes, she will continue with the relationship since everything is out there already.
Social media users have since reacted to the online spat as can be seen in screenshots below,
Obianuju Okeke, the gorgeous looking Nigerian police officer is currently raving on the internet with many wondering why such a beauty would join the Police force.
Of course, it’s quite rare for someone with Uju’s look to actually join the Police force and since she’s unique in this calibre, people have been wondering why she actually joined the force.
In a post on her IG page, she acknowledges that people have always wanted to be in the know as to why she joined the force, but she says if they really want to know, they’d have to join the force too.
She wrote,
People always ask me why i joined the force or what am i doing in the police. Lol. If only they know ? but i will leave them to keep wondering because most of us don’t have any knowledge about the police force and there’s no need explaining myself to anyone?. If you want to know, join us ? #ilovemyjob#livingmybestlife#livingmydream#imaginemein10years ?
Nigerian singer, Timaya has said that only Innocent ‘2baba’ Idibia qualifies to call himself a legend among the active artistes in the music industry.
Timaya during a recent radio interview with SoundCity FM said:
“In this part of the world, many artistes when they get to 10 years, they start shouting ‘I’m a legend’, ‘legendary’. To me, in this industry, the only person that can call himself a legend is 2face. The others shouldn’t. Even if people call me a legend, I don’t like to be seen like that.”
The dancehall star maintained that he is still the king of commercial music, saying,
“the crown never leaves. I am Timaya anytime any day, 13 years is not three years. People don’t understand that making a hit song doesn’t mean you are a star. Stars always shine, some people can make a hit song and you will never hear of them again. There’s no year I’ve never dropped a hit song. I don’t want to be number one. I just want to be a musician. A lot of people have come and gone but I’m still here.”
The father of three also gave his take on the issue of marriage, saying he is not predisposed to an elaborate ceremony.
“I don’t really go for weddings like that. I like the private marriage. If I want to get married, I will not do a big gathering. One thing is to get married, the other thing is to stay married. Staying married is the hardest part. Do you know what it means for two people with different upbringings to come and start staying together? That’s not a joke.” He said
President Buhari’s personal photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo, dished out a piece of advise to Nigerian youths following the disqualification of the Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, from running for governor of Oyo state.
Yesterday, the APC National Working Committee, screened Adebayo out of the Oyo state governorship race because he did not have his NYSC certificate.
Bayo, upon seeing the news, then wrote,
Please I beg you, do all you need to do to prepare for your tomorrow.
If a Minister can disqualified from running for the office of a governor because of NYSC certificate, it tells you things are getting more serious.
Check yourself and be sure you are prepared for your tomorrow cos it sure would be bigger than what your drea can capture today

Head of states, President Muhammadu Buhari who spoke on Thursday during an interactive session with Nigerian professionals based in the US and Canada, stated that if he survives the next four years, he plans on doing better if he wins the 2019 Presidential election.
According to the President, his administration had delivered within the available resources and if he wins the forthcoming 2019 election and survive the next four years, he would do better than he had done before.
“if I win the next election and I survive the next four years, I will do better.
“I’m always conscious of the ordinary people because they are the ones that always vote for me. A lot of big men have no time to go and queue on the line for hours.
“There were even pregnant women who were on the line for hours and they delivered. They are my constituencies; they always vote for me.”
Buhari also claimed that the Boko Haram insurgents has been decimated, but regretted that the terrorist group was still targeting soft spots and using girls for suicide bombings.
President Buhari further stated that he is not as slow as assumed, noting that he’s trying to follow the law, especially as democracy is different from military rule.
Buhari also recounted how he put people in Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos when he was a military head of state, and then ensured they remained in custody until they were able to prove themselves innocent.
Here’s a Whatsapp conversation between a Nigerian Software developer and a scammer posing to be a lady.
In the conversation, the said scammer tried to trick the developer into thinking she could be a “potential one night stand”, a very cheap move we feel.
The developer who wasn’t moved by the scammers antics played along to see where it’d lead to.. and alas, the scammer requested for N45,000.
President Buhari has congratulated APC’s Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, the governor-elect of Osun state, for winning the governorship election, which was won by a close margin.
The President extends warm felicitations to the state and national campaign teams that worked assiduously to guarantee the victory at the polls, while commending the outgoing Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for eight years of steadfastness and service to his people.
“Thank you Osun State for supporting our good governance agenda by re-electing the APC. I assure you that we will continue to work for the progress and prosperity of the state and the nation,” he said.
The President urges the Governor-elect to always remember that the electorate expects unreserved commitment to delivering results that directly impact their lives and families.
President Buhari affirms that the successful election in the State further strengthens the democratic culture in the country, extolling INEC for, once again, making the country proud.
President Buhari commends the maturity, loyalty and courage of all contestants in putting in their best to be elected to serve the state, urging them to seek redress in court, where they disagree with the outcome.
Johannes Tobi is one of the members of President Buhari’s media team, and he’s taunted Davido by asking him to perform at Oyetola’s thanksgiving ceremony.
Meanwhile, Nollywood actress, Iretiola Doyle has spoken on Davido’s active involvement in the politics of Osun state in the past few weeks.
Davido, whose uncle is the standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just-concluded governorship election in the state, has been a strong youth mobiliser for the opposition party.
However, Mrs Doyle said if Nigerians had demonstrated a similar passion and fervour in politics as Davido, the nation would have escaped the political and socio-economic doldrums it has found itself in present times.
She went further to urge Nigerians to get their PVC and aggressively support the candidate of their choice during the 2019 elections.
Sharing a photo of Davido on Instagram, the actress wrote on her Instagram handle: “Who he’s campaigning for and why is immaterial and beside the point.
“The way I see it, if a quarter of us got involved and pursued our political preferences with as much passion, single-mindedness, loyalty, doggedness and “we die here” fervour that @davidoofficial has displayed and sustained over the last several days, it’s safe to say that the last 2 decades probably wouldn’t have gone down the way they have and we probably wouldn’t be in the current socio-political situation we are in.
“It doesn’t matter how cerebral or articulate you are; backseat driving and armchair political analysis don’t change a thing.”
“Everyone is analysing what A, B, C and D are doing, the real question is what are you doing? How are you getting involved? What is your political preference and how are you ensuring that you are effectively represented?”
“Alas, classic Nigerianese, you no go do, person wey gree do will be damned for doing… Na so!”
“Davido has found his “why”. I am PVC ready currently on the lookout for my “why”. A candidate whose politics I agree with, who I feel I can trust.”

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, rejected the results of the rerun election even before the official announcement.
The candidate announced the rejection of the poll results in a statement issued on his behalf by the spokesperson for the Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Mr Olawale Rasheed.
The statement reads,
“We report to the whole world the brazen theft and daylight swindling of Osun people who were criminally denied their rights to vote and be voted for by an anti-people conspiracy among INEC, security agencies and the ruling All Progressive Congress. An unprecedented travesty of justice and the shattering of democratic values are ongoing in Osun state.
“The whole world is witnessing a charade in the name of an election, a deliberate effort at the imposition of a discredited leadership on the suffering people of Osun State through undisguised brutal force, applying all standards, today’s supplementary poll is a non-event as all norms of electoral process were violated.
“Voters are deliberately refused access to polling points at gun points. Those allowed to voting centres are forced to vote for APC.PDP party agents are arrested, beaten up and shut out of polling centres.PDP agents are barred from many units. Roads are blocked to stop voters and observers.
‘Journalists and election monitors are blocked from accessing many voting areas. Those who attempted gaining access are attacked by hooded thugs.PDP leaders are hounded and arrested. It was a brutal unleashing of force against unarmed election stakeholders.
United States Consul General in Lagos F. John Bray, who was in Osogbo to monitor the rerun election, has described the process as credible.
The Nation reports that, he said he did not observe any malpractices or violations of the Electoral Act in Unit 17, Ward 5 where the rerun election took place.
Bray was at the unit from morning when voting started till result was announced at about 3.50pm.
Asked about his observations, he said: “The process has been credible.”
On allegations that some voters were denied access to some units by thugs, Bray said:
“There are things going on in six other units. I cannot comment on those things.
“I’m here as an observer today. All I can talk about is what’s in front of me. And today in Osogbo its working fine.
“At this polling unit things have been going on pretty well today. No problem with card readers; people have been orderly.
“We have party agents here from all the political parties. I’m not hearing a lot of complaints. I haven’t seen any vote buying here.”
On why he was there personally to monitor the election, Bray said it was due to the importance the United States attaches to democratic processes.
“The United States is interested in democracy, because we’re a democratic country. So, we always support elections and democracy in Nigeria.
“I observe all the elections personally and I was here last week,” he said.
On how he rates the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Bray said:
“From what I’ve seen so far in Osogbo, INEC’s performance is fine.”
Bray, who was at the unit when gunshots were fired around noon, praised the security agencies for preventing any disruptions.
“There was someone who tried to disrupt the poll. They quickly got the unit back to order. The Police and security services came together.
“There was somebody trying to upset the balance, but he didn’t,” Bray said.
There has been reports of recent earth tremors experienced in some parts of Abuja which made residents fear for their safety.
Few weeks ago, the director-general of the National Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), Alex Nsegbu, said Nigeria is not on the boundary that can make the country suffer earthquake, but a new report by the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has identified communities in four states and Abuja as locations where major earthquake may likely occur in the country.
The Director General of NASRDA, Prof. Seidu Mohammed, disclosed this on the sideline of the second Engr. Brig. Gen. M.O Agu (rtd) Annual Distinguished Lecture in Abuja on Thursday.
Prof. Mohammed, who was also the chairman of presidential committee on the Abuja tremor, said Mpape in Abuja, Kwoi in Kaduna, Ijebu-Ode in Ogun, Shaki in Oyo and Igbogene in Bayelsa may likely be the epicentres of major earthquake if precautions were not taken.
The erstwhile inactive faults system in the country are gradually becoming active, he said, ‘’which now make earthquake likely’’ in and around the country. A number of incidences in these locations, according to him, is also a pointer to the fact that a big disaster may occur there, calling on the Federal Government to do something fast to avert it.
He said analysis of a 100 year-old data done by the members of the presidential committee on Abuja tremor showed that Mpape in Abuja is a hotspot which is highly susceptible to earth tremor and other earth shakeups.
“What it means is that we need a thorough study across the country to identify such hotspots so that we can constantly monitor them from satellite system and from data from outer space’’, he said.
He said the high volume of water being taken out of over 110, 000 boreholes dug in Abuja is further making the situation in the capital city worse. ‘’More than 330 metric tonnes of water being taken out every day in Abuja is causing a vacuum; is straining the earth’’, he said.
He therefore urged the FG to take a look at indiscriminate drilling of boreholes, calling on thorough regulation on earth drilling. He also said engineers should now take cognizance of likely earth tremor when designing and constructing buildings.
Last week, the Presidential Committee on Abuja Tremor said Nigeria was now prone to seismic hazards, which make earthquake occurrence a potential disaster to the country.
The committee disclosed that when it submitted the report of its findings to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu. ‘’Nigeria is now prone to seismic hazards following recent earthquake occurrences in Kwoi, Kaduna state, Saki, Oyo State and Igbogene in Bayelsa State all in 2016. The latest occurred in September 7, 2018 in Mpape, Abuja’’it said.
It said though ‘’these earthquakes may have been of low-magnitude, it is now certain that earthquake occurrence has become a potential hazards to the nation’’.
The committee alluded to the report conducted by Julius Berger on the geological, hydrological and geotechnical investigation for Abuja which identified Mpape as a Shear zone that is weak with several fractures and faults system.
It added that water extraction and recharge imbalance from aquifer is causing hydrological instability along the fractures. The existence of 110,000 boreholes within Abuja metropolis with about 330,000 metric tonnes of water drilled daily is not suitable, it added.
In view of the challenges that hinder efficient forecasting, detection and monitoring of earthquakes in Nigeria, the Committee recommended the procurement and installation of more seismometers and GPS sensors/equipment for the enlargement and networking of the Nigeria National Network of Seismographic Stations.
The committee further recommended detailed Seismotectonic study using State-of-the-art equipment in the area and the entire country.

INEC has declared APC’s Gboyega Oyetola winner of the governorship election in Osun state.
Gboyega Oyetola had a total of 255,505 voters after proper collation of the results of the supplementary election in seven polling units across four local governments, while PDP’s Ademola Adeleke polled a total of 255,023 votes to come second, a close margin we admit.
At the end of last Satuday’s ballot, Adeleke scored the highest number of votes, beating Oyetola with 353 votes but INEC declared the election inconclusive and ordered a rerun because the number of cancelled votes in the seven polling units was far higher than the margin by which Adeleke beat Oyetola. Following this supplementary votes on Thursday, Oyetola overtook and beat Adeleke with a total margin of 482 votes.
Besides leading in the number of votes cast, the APC also won a total of 16 local governments as against 11 won by the PDP.
