The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has vowed to publish names of students, staff, and invigilators involved in examination malpractice.
The examination body made this known yesterday as they decried the rate of examination malpractice among students.
In a statement by WAEC’s head, Public Affairs, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, the decision to publish offenders was part of the 66th Nigeria Examinations Committee, NEC, of WAEC’s resolution held at Ogba, Lagos.
Ojijeogu said:
Candidates, invigilators and supervisors caught aiding and abetting examination malpractice, WAEC, ANCOPSS and the States Ministry of Education will publish their names to serve as a deterrent for others.
States Ministry of Education and school principals are to check the ugly trend by looking at the calibre and integrity of teachers nominated as supervisors for public examinations.
The Committee observed that even with the commendable efforts of the Council in the fight against examination malpractice, the menace is still on the increase.
There was high rate of impersonation as a form of examination malpractice during the WASSCE examinations.
In the course of considering the various reported cases of malpractice, the Committee, after diligent deliberations, approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice, as prescribed by the Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of the Council’s examinations. It approved that the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attracts Cancellation of Entire Results, CER, be cancelled, while subject results of those involved in proven cases, which attract Cancellation of Subject Results, CSR, be similarly cancelled.
The trial of Peter Neilsen accused of the grisly murder of his wife Alizee and their daughter Petra is still ongoing.
Recall that Nielson was arrested and arraigned at the Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing the singer and their daughter in their Lagos home in April. During the court briefing, the police prosecutor, CSP Effiong Asuquo, told the court, that Peter hit his wife’s head on the wall, resulting in her death. Asked how she discovered Neilson and the bodies: “I tried to open the door leading to the kitchen but it didn’t open so I went downstairs to the palour. I called one of the children’s number but it was switched off, I knocked at the door several times before it was opened for me. I then asked the girl that opened the door what type of sleep she was still sleeping up to that time. The girl then told me that my madam and her husband were fighting the previous night, I saw little bruises on the defendant’s forehead and hand when he came out from his room. I went to the children’s room for my duties and then l heard Peter shouting from the kitchen, ‘Jesus’.
The case has been adjourned till today October 10th for further hearing.
According to a report by Premium Times, the Federal Government of Nigeria has said after consultations it proposed N24,000 as the new minimum wage for civil servants.
The Minister of Labour and employment, Chris Ngige, stated this Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Mr. Ngige was responding to media reports quoting the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, saying that the tri-partite committee discussing the demand for new minimum wage has agreed to increase it from the current N19,200 to N30,000.
“Such information is not true,” Mr Ngige said.
The minister said when the committee reconvened on October 5, after the NLC had called off its nationwide strike, “ the organised labour came down to N30,000, the organised private sector came down to N25,000.”
He also said the federal government had to consult with the 36 state governors. After the consultations, he said, the federal government proposed N24,000 while governors proposed N20,000.
Mr Ngige said the government is therefore still consulting and negotiations is ongoing.
He said in accordance with Convention 131 of International Labour Organisation, the most important thing to consider in fixing the new minimum wage is the ability to pay.
The NLC had initially proposed a N50,000 minimum wage for workers, a move opposed by many state governors, many of whom are unable to regularly pay the current N18,000 minimum wage.
Pope Francis, 81, addressing his worshipers has compared having an abortion to hiring a ‘contract killer to eliminate someone.
The Supreme Pontiff made the statement in an address to worshippers during his weekly audience on Saint Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
‘Interrupting a pregnancy is like eliminating someone… getting rid of a human being is like resorting to a contract killer to solve a problem,’ Francis said.
In his address, the Argentine pontiff complained of a ‘depreciation of human life’. He cited wars, exploitation and what he called a culture of wastefulness, as well as abortion.
‘How can an act that suppresses innocent life be therapeutic, civil or even human?’ he asked.

The family of the late Moses Adejumo, popularly known as Baba Sala, has alerted the public that scammers are using Baba Sala’s death as an excuse to dupe people, saying that the family needs financial assistance.
The eldest son of the comedian, Rev’d Bamidele Adejumo, who spoke with The Punch in an interview on Tuesday, said the family had not opened any account for the funeral of his father contrary to the claims of some fraudsters.
Bamidele, who is a cleric at the Love of Christ Chapel International Ministry in Lagos, said the family was embarrassed that some persons had opened a fake account and soliciting funds from unsuspecting members of the public.
He, however, warned members of the public against paying into this account, saying anybody who wanted to donate funds to the family should come to Ilesa where the family of the late comedian resided.
Bamidele said:
“We have not opened any PayPal account or any online account. The claim is false information. The family has not asked for anything from anybody. We have not met and nobody is soliciting anything from anybody yet. If we will be expecting anything from any fans, admirers or anybody at all, it will be freewill donation.
“We have not opened any PayPal site or any intent account for people to donate to. Anybody who wants to donate anything to the family should please come to the family in Ilesa. Such people can come with pressmen and take photographs to document it.
“They should have standard record and avoid fraudsters. They should avoid fraudsters, who are posing as members of the family.”
Soldiers at the Command Day Secondary School in Enugu state, have mercilessly dealt with one the student, Gideosky Gideon, for not putting on the complete uniform.
The student was reportedly dressed without the school cap and tie to school.
It was claimed that the soldiers asked him to remove his shirt as they flogged him on his back. The soldier reportedly refused to stop even as blood was dripping out from his body.

Command Day Secondary School Enugu is not Nigerian Defense Academy where parents sign the death warrant of their children before they can will be admitted. It is just like every other school, just that it is been run by the military to increase discipline. Which they have failed woefully.
Even a blind man living in Enugu knows that Cdss Enugu are first class in fighting other schools like Fedi, Unsec, Magnet, etc… The students occasionally chatter buses and transport themselves to another school to fight.
Yet the soldiers cant and wont do anything about it till today. Any secondary school party hosted in Enugu and Cdsse are not attending, Then the party is not legit… Yet the incumbent soldiers can never do anything about it…
The soldiers and well painted walls of the school is just a packaging to make parents believe the school is quality enough. After paying a huge amount of school fees that increases every year, that school cant boast of 20 well functioning computers. Students are asked to bring their laptop to school during computer exams.
Is violence the only way to resolve issue in that school?

A jealous lover decided to humiliate his girlfriend after seeing her in public with another man.

PDP presidential candidate for the February 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has described President Buhari as a man who has never run any successful business enterprise in his life.
Atiku said this while replying the comment made by the spokesperson of the APC, Yekini Nabena, who in a statement released, questioned Atiku’s source of wealth.
Atiku in his response released by his media organization, reminded the APC that the former president has run more successful business enterprises unlike President Buhari.
The statement read :
“We wish to remind APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, that Atiku Abubakar is not like President Buhari who has never run a successful private business throughout his life.
Unlike Muhammadu Buhari, Atiku Abubakar is an expert job creator who has founded many successful and thriving businesses including the American University of Nigeria, Yola; a microfinance bank that has moved 45,000 families out of poverty and Rica Gado, a livestock feed company that has significantly reduced instances of herdsmen/farmers clashes by providing a business-friendly solution instead of asking Nigerians to give up their lands for cattle ranching or face death, as the Buhari government did.”
Atiku urged the Buhari Presidency and the APC to mention even one successful private endeavour that the President had successfully run.

The outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that he won’t leave the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress, advising the ruling party to bury the notion.
The governor made this known while reacting to a statement by the Ekiti Chairman of APC, Paul Omotoso, who said Fayose was not wanted in the party.

Nollywood Actress, Genevieve Nnaji, has signed a film deal with United Talent Agency.
The deal, it is also suspected, will see the ‘Lion heart’ actress collaborating with top Hollywood filmmakers to produce movies from African including Nigerian stories.
UTA, also represents Hollywood’s Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Channing Tatum, Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Kim Soo Hyun and Liv Tyler, according to Deadline report.
Meanwhile, Netflix announced its acquisition of the rights of Nnaji’s comedy ‘Lion Heart’ just before its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festivals in September, making Lionheart the first original feature from Nigeria to debut on the streaming service.
Nnaji, who is one of the highest paid actresses in Nollywood, has starred in a number of Nigerian features including Ijé: The Journey, Tango With Me, Doctor Bello, Half of a Yellow Sun, and Road to Yesterday, a film that marked her first outing as a producer.
A Nigerian man, Kamaludden Bashir, has on monday started trekking from Zaria to Abuja for Atiku Abubakar to show his support the the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Bashir, on Tuesday, told newsmen that he plans to reach Abuja within five days

According to him, he left Kwarbai area of Zaria at 6:30am on Monday after his parents prayed for him.
Bashir believed that Abubakar’s structures all over the country were strong enough to push for his election in February.
“I believe in Atiku, that is why I am trekking in solidarity and praying for him to win the 2019 presidential election.
“I believe he is the best man that can fight corruption and take Nigerian youths to the promised land.”
According to him, he was robbed of his money, food and water along the way, but said the experience would not deter him from continuing with the journey.
Bashir urged Nigerian youths to support the former vice president during the general elections so as to put Nigeria in a better direction.
One of the female Hostel at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, Osun State, has been gutted by fire.
The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be known, but it is happening at one of the Alumni hostels on the campus.
The fire reportedly started in a room and immediately spread to other rooms in the one-storey building hostel.
No causality has also been reported, but most of the students affected were not able to take out their properties from the ravaging fire.
As of the time of writing this report, there has not been any sign of efforts to put out the fire. But occupants of the hostel have reportedly sent a distress call to the school authorities.

The model, Adetutu from Eruwa, Oyo State, and mom from Ondo State, earlier today shared a campaign tweet begging Nigerians to help make the tweet get to Rihanna, saying, she has tribal marks and wants to model for the super star.
