Two Teenagers Arrested After Selling Stolen Laptop For N2,000 In Lagos

Two teenagers who sold a stolen laptop for N2,000, have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly breaking into a shop on Jakande Estate, in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State, to steal the laptop.

The police also arrested two others – 27-year-old Adejagun Babatunde and 20-year-old Lawal Wasiu – for allegedly receiving the stolen laptop from the teenage burglars, Punch Metro reports.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, on Wednesday said the case was worrisome because minors were involved.

Imohimi said:

“The command’s operatives attached to the Ejigbo Police Division on September 2, 2018, arrested two teenagers (names withheld), aged 13 and 14, who specialised in breaking into people’s shops.

“Luck ran out on them when they burgled a shop at Block 397, Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, and made away with one generator valued at N15,000; one HP laptop, valued at N90,000; one amplifier, valued at N40,000; and one CD mixer, valued at N150,000.

“The police have arrested their adult collaborators, 27-year-old Adejagun Babatunde and 20-year-old Lawal Wasiu. The two adults bought the stolen HP laptop for N2,000 only. The adult suspects will have their day in court, while the child offenders will be handed over to the gender section for appropriate action.”

One of the teenage burglars, said he took the laptop inside an opened shop, adding that he was accompanied by his friend to a complex at Ejigbo where they were paid N2,000 for the laptop.

The second teenage suspect said he was only involved in selling the laptop.

The buyer of the laptop, Babatunde, said he got to know the boys through Wasiu.

He said:

“Wasiu came to me that the two children wanted to sell a laptop. They told me that they wanted to sell the laptop because they were hungry, adding that the laptop belonged to their brother, who was no longer a deejay.”

Wasiu said:

“The two boys said they were hungry and that I should give them money. I told them that I did not have money and I directed them to Babatunde.”

Nigerian men scam foreigner of €15,000, victim travels down to arrest them

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have reportedly arrested some Nigerian men after they defrauded a foreigner to the tune of €15,000.

The men are reportedly undergraduates of a university in the state and they’ve been identified as Nicholas Lambert 22; Collins Njoku 22; Bright Chukwuezi, 23; and Chukwuemeka Ononiwu, 27 and their victim identified as Jeanette Brunsma.

Parading Lambert and his accomplices, the state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, said 11 laptops and 20 phones of different brands were recovered from them.

The CP said the suspects engaged in “advanced fee fraud, otherwise known as yahoo-yahoo to defraud the Dane.”

He said:

“After defrauding Brunsma of the €15,000, the suspects made a fresh demand of €1,500.

“The prime suspect, Lambert, met the victim on Facebook, bearing a fake name, Johnson Mills, in order to commit the crime.”

Explaining how the suspects were arrested, Galadanchi said the victim flew into the country and lodged a complaint at the state command headquarters which led to investigations by the police.

He said the victim’s statement was followed with “a digital construction analysis,” which led to the arrest of the suspects within 24 hours.

The CP said:

“The suspects; Nicholas Lambert, aka Johnson Mills of Onumonu Street, Owerri; Collins Njoku of Umudim Umuduruonyeoma, in the Ikeduru Local Governmrnt Area; Bright Chukwuezi of Umudim Umuduruonyeoma and Chukwuemeka Ononiwu also of Umudim Umuduruonyeoma, were arrested on September 3, 2018.

“They were arrested by a combined team of operatives of Scorpion Squad and Monitoring Unit of the command for advanced fee fraud.”

“The main suspect who claimed to be a US Army Sergeant by name Johnson Mills (Nicholas Lambert) serving in Kabul, Afghanistan, and his friends, who claimed to be Red Cross agents, were arrested in Imo State.

“We swooped on them at their hideout in Umuodu Mbieri, in the Mbaitoli LGA after the victim lodged a formal complaint to the police.

“The suspects have made useful statements to the police, confessing to have defrauded Jeanette Brunsma of Ringwey 10,Weiloo, Netherlands, of the sum of €15,000.

“The exhibits recovered from the suspects include 11 laptops and 20 phones of different brands.”

The prime suspect, Lambert, admitted he committed the crime.

He said:

“I met Jeanette on Facebook; I claimed to be a US solider to defraud him of €15,000.

“After the initial payment, I demanded another €1,500, after which I was arrested by the police in my hotel room.”

He said the other suspects were not aware that he made another demand on the Dane.

Why I don’t want to have babies after 2 years of marriage – 38 Year Old Nigerian Lady Reveals

38 year old Nigerian lady reveals

An anonymous Nigerian lady took to the popular Nigerian forum to narrate on why she decided not to have babies even after two years of marriage.

Read her story below:

I am a 38 years old woman. I got married to my husband when I was 36. I was not really into marriage. So I was not the desperate type. Even when my family, friends, everyone was pestering me about marriage,I didn’t care cos I was happy, living my life, happy and fulfilled.

By God’s grace,I am an accomplished woman. I have a thriving career. I have a house of my own and I have a masters while I am pursuing my PHD. I gave in to marriage when I met my husband through a friend that set up the match making. My husband, let us call him John, was and still is,a real estate developer. He is a divorcee but he doesn’t have any child from his ex wife.

I grew to like him and when he proposed,I agreed to marry him. Unfortunately,I didn’t get to meet his people until our marriage ceremonies. Both of us are adults and we didn’t think it was a big deal. John is over 40 years.

But soon after my wedding,my mother in-law began to show herself. It was obvious that she didn’t like me. This makes me even suspect that she was the reason behind the first marriage crashing. Even though my husband said,it crashed cos they realized that they were not compatible. They quarreled a lot until they divorced.

Well, this woman came to visit us shortly after our marriage and refused to leave even after one month. I didn’t mind but for her constant nagging. She complains that I am not a homely wife. That I love my career more than my home. She would curse me and call me names. I was horrified but I tried to keep my cool. When I told my husband,he brushed it aside and asked me to be the bigger person by ignoring the mother.

Eventually she left but anytime she calls, she insults me and says that I should be thinking of having a baby instead of focusing so much on my career. That was when I told her to mind her business and stop calling me. That didn’t go well with her and she told her son who told me I shouldn’t cut off his mom.

Well,I ignored them both until my mother in law made a statement in a text message she sent me a few months ago. After calling me useless and all sorts of name in the text, she then goes to say that if I ever have a child, she would take the child and ensure that her son drives me away. That statement made me go crazy. I called her and told her off. That caused a serious problem between me and my husband . Who as usual, instead of correcting his mom and defending me,goes the way of saying:be the bigger person….I am fed up of his behavior.

He says,in their culture,a child does not confront a parent!…I think that is BS!. His attitude is giving me serious cause of worry. Much as I would like to have a child,I have serious hesitation with bringing a child into a home like this. So,I have not been actively trying for a baby. Its been two years. Everyone is getting impatient that I am yet to be pregnant. But as for me,I am not bothered. I am not even trying to have a baby. This is not the type of home to raise a child.

My mother says I should have a child cos the child will bring peace. But with my husband’s mother’s threat,I am not so sure. Coupled with my husband’s inability to address the issue. My husband does not know that I am on protection. And I am not about to go off protection until I am sure of the situation.

But I am writing cos I need your advise. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I would like to have a child someday cos I love children but I am not sure of the future of this marriage. Having a child in an unhappy or broken home is not my idea. My mother keeps crying every day that my ‘biological clock’ is ticking. That I am being paranoid and selfish. Of course, she is thinking of her grandchildren more than my happiness.

I am exhausted. What should I do? should I have a baby or wait?…or maybe I should even start thinking of ending this marriage?…clearly, the man I call my husband cares more about his mother than he cares about me

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Kamal Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said the police had charged 37 of the suspects to court.

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Ado Zigau, said the suspects were arrested based on intelligence reports.

The Public Relations Officer of the corps, DSC Garkuwa Adamu, said,

“We recovered three Jincheng motorcycles, one Haojue ladies motorcycle, one generator, three birthday cakes, four GSM phones and other souvenirs during the operation,” he said.

One of the suspects, Abubakar Adamu, denied being a gay.

He said

“We are not gay; we don’t have lesbians among us. I organised a birthday party and invited my friends. I sat with a female friend when I was arrested. I am a tailor and we followed due process and applied to use the Federal Secretariat Conference Hall, which they gave us.

“After we finished the birthday, security operatives came in and arrested us. But we are not homosexuals and we don’t belong to any association.”

When asked how he got money to organise the birthday, he said

“I am a tailor. My customers pay me between N400 and N2,500. My friends contributed some of the items. I have learnt my lesson and I will not organise a birthday party again.”

‘I joined the Black Axe Confraternity in order to meet Davido’ — Suspect confesses

A suspected member of the Black Axe Confraternity has revealed he got lured into the group after he was promised he would meet music star David ‘Davido’ Adeleke.

The suspect, Tobi Adegoke, 25, was among 27 suspected cultists arrested from various parts of Lagos and paraded by Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal on Wednesday.

The young man who is an upcoming music artist believed meeting Davido who he alleged is a memeber of the cult group, would have helped in skyrocketing his music career.

Speaking to The Nation, He said: “I am an Aiye member (Black Axe). I have been in the cult for about two years. I was told that Davido was a member and if I joined, I will be able to meet him.

“It was the guy who initiated me that said so. He said he worked for Davido and that it will be easy access. But since I joined, I have not met Davido. They told me I’ll become a very popular musician but see where I am now.

“I am renouncing my membership of Aiye. I will never belong to any cult again. They should look at my face very well. They will never see me in their midst again.

“I lived at Oniru in Lekki. I used to be a domestic help. Since I joined, I have not done anything bad. I habe not killed anybody. I just wanted to be a famous musician.

He, however, regretted not being patient in pursuing his music career.

Another suspect, Biodun Alade, 22, said he joined his own group about four months ago.

It was also reported that several others denied being cultists, insisting that they were arrested during random raids carried out by policemen in their neighborhoods.

Stop going after ‘yahoo boys’ – Police IG, Ibrahim Idris Warns SARS

Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector General of Police, has asked operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) to desist from running after internet fraudsters, Dailytrust reports.

He said they had the mandate of curbing armed robbery and kidnapping, warning that any officer caught arresting cybercrime suspects would be sanctioned appropriately.

Idris gave the warning yesterday at the FSARS headquarters at Magbo in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He was represented by the team leader of South West Monitoring Fact Finding Committee on SARS Reform, DCP Adepojulo Ilori.

He assured the people of what he called “positively transformed” operatives of FSARS. He said the committee had embarked on the inspection of SARS detention facilities across the southwest states.

Part of the committee’s mandate was to decongest the detention facilities and submit a comprehensive report to the IGP.

Africans have no culture, we must kick them out – Israeli MP

israeli mp

An Israeli member of parliament has come under fire for saying that Africans have no culture and that Israel should stop African refugees from having children.

The Israeli member of Israel’s Knesset or parliament (MP), Oren Hazan from the ruling Likud party, further said that Africans are not refugees but economic migrants.

The member of parliament was speaking during an interview that was posted on the Facebook page of his political party.

During an interview with Avi Yemeni, an Israeli-Australian pro-Israel activist, on July 27, Hazan further said that African immigrants were a threat to Israel and would destroy the country.

“If we don’t kick them out they will kick us out. We need to destroy the problem when it is still small,” said Hazan.

However, his comments and statements have not been condemned by the Likud party led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel came under strong criticism for its mass deportation of Africans earlier in the year with protests breaking out in the country and human rights organisations condemning the move and the inhumane way the Africans were treated.

Earlier in the year Hazan’s interviewer, Avi Yemeni who is a rightist activist, also started a petition in Australia to help what he described as the “persecuted white minority” of South Africa stating that whites “were facing genocide” in the southern African country.

According to her, the senator invaded her house to take an action which purportedly would earn him political points on social media and this got her enraged, so she took to her page to out him.

She wrote,

We’ve ignored Dino Melaye for so long but for him to think it’s cool to stop over at my house so he could post on Instagram and Twitter and score a cheap political point is beyond me while my family is mourning… Thunder fire u Dino Melaye and we shall meet at the battlefield.

Dear Dino Melaye please stop bothering us, stop calling. You are lucky tonight… Don’t you ever try to come to my house next time. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
You act tough online but you are a coward in real life… Oh you are so lucky tonight Dino. I dare you…

I’ve had enough. I’m so angry tonight… imagine the audacity of this joke called dino. I dare you to come to my house again dino. You’ll know the difference between the internet and reality.

The ragamuffin hid himself in another senator’s car to gain access into my compound. And some people still think dino melaye is a sane man ?

Police arrest husband and wife for selling their only son for N180,000 in Cross Rivers (Photo)

The Cross Rivers state police have reportedly arrested a 27-year-old man, Mr Daniel Bassey, and his wife, Magdalene, for trafficking their two-year-old son for N180,000 to an agent in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in July this year.

The state commissioner of police, Hafiz Inuwa, who paraded the couple before newsmen at the state police command, said the duo were arrested on July 23rd 2018 in Calabar after the mother of the child reported the matter at the Efut divisional headquarters that her husband took their only son, Moses Bassey, to an unknown person in Port Harcourt through one woman simply known as Mummy and collected some money.

“On July 23, 2018, one Mrs Magdalene Bassey, reported at Efut Divisional Headquarters in Calabar that her husband, Mr Daniel Bassey, took their first son to an unknown person in Port Harcourt through one woman called Mummy. The police immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect. During interrogation, the suspect revealed that his wife was a party to the transaction. They are now in police custody to help the police to unravel the cause of this inhuman action and face possible prosecution.”Inuwa said

He said efforts were on by the police to ensure that the baby was recovered.

When interrogated, the father of the boy, Daniel Bassey, said he only gave his child as a collateral for N180,000 loan to help him pay his house rent.

“I did it based on the debt of N21,000 I collected from a friend to pay my house rent. There is no work in this rainy season and I am jobless. A guy from my area informed me that he knows a woman who lends money to people. That my friend told me that I can give out the child as collateral to get the money without necessarily selling him. The woman gave me N180,000 immediately after she received the child. After that, my mother in-law came and asked me of the child and I lied to her that I took the baby to my brother for holiday,” he said

His wife, Magdalene, who hails from Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, admitted that she consented to the act. She said she agreed to it so that they could solve their financial problems.

“Her presence aroused me” — 35 year old man arrested for raping 14 year old girl says

A certain Timothy Dogo, 35, has been arrested by the Niger state police command after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl at the Tufa Community in the Gurara Local Goverment Area of the state.

According to police reports, the victim was on an errand for her parents when Timothy dragged her into an uncompleted building and forcefully had sex with her.

When interrogated, Dogo who confessed to have had sex with four other unaderaged girls in the area, said the 14-year-old girl’s presence got him aroused.

“There was nothing to show that she is a teenager, she looks like a 20-year-old girl, I never knew that she is under-age; otherwise I wouldn’t have tried it in the first place. I raped her because her looks turn me on each time I set my eyes on her; there was this spirit that would tell me to make love to her and that was why on that fateful day, I dragged her into an uncompleted building to commit the act” he said

According to the police, Dogo would soon be arraigned in court.

”Homosexuality is ‘poisoning’ Nigerian society” – Primate Nicholas Okoh

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, says homosexuality is “veritably poisoning” the Nigerian society.

The clergyman stated this in an interview with NAN – he added that the advent of the satellite broadcasting and the internet fostered this ”unAfrican” culture in Nigeria.

“Homosexuality hinders the progress of a nation and such ungodly images should never be shown in Nigeria. It is pertinent to note that the advent of satellite broadcasting has continued to pose a serious challenge to our traditional cultures, religious values and our identity as a people. Our youths are now being deceived by the international media with values that are at variance with our culture and the teachings of our religion,”

he said

The clergyman went further to say,

What is happening in the Nigerian society is a result of international influence and urbanisation. As people move from villages to the cities, they are detached from their ancestral authority, parents, chiefs and others. Anti-social behaviours that used to be tackled are no longer tackled all because of modernisation; essentially, people are destroying themselves”
