Nigerian singer, Simi, has revealed what it felt like to have performed on the same stage with Nigerian music icon, Lagbaja.
Lagbaja, the veteran Afrojazz singer, and pop star, Simi on Saturday thrilled the audience in a joint performance at the Johnnie, Jazz and Whisky music and flavours night in Abuja.
The duo performed Lagbaja’s “Never Far Away” at the JJW concert in Central Area, Abuja, as Simi described the experience as “meeting a legend.”
At the event, the organisers availed the audience of a chance to enjoy good music and savour various flavours of wines, prompting a feeling of career fulfilment for Simi, who described the performance with Lagbaja as a milestone.
Simi said she relished her encounter on the stage with Lagbaja, noting that it was a chance of her life.
She said, “So, yesterday, I met a legend. I had the time of my life. Living my dreams; God is good.”
Lagbaja, also in a response on his Instagram page, called Simi an angel, noting that it was a beautiful time. “How many of you got to see this beautiful mash up with the lovely Simi? She is an angel,” he said.
Simi was just five years old when Lagbaja released his first album, “Ikira” in 1993 and had not recorded professionally when Lagbaja clinched the Channel O Music Video Award for “Never Far Away”, the song which the duo re-enacted with their performance at the JJW concert.
Simi’s post expressing admiration for Lagbaja got over 50,000 likes and 1260 comments from fans, who requested some collaboration music from the duo.

Mariam Uwais, special adviser to President Buhari on social protection, says the FT has spent N49 billion on the national home-grown school feeding programme.
The programme is meant for feeding primary school pupils across the country.The programme, a component of the government’s social investment, has been ongoing in the last two years.
Uwais said 8, 596,340 pupils were currently being fed in 46,247 public primary schools in 24 states.
She listed the as Abia, Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Niger, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Zamfara.
She added that through the programme, 90,670 Nigerians had been engaged and empowered as cooks while over 100,000 local farmers had also been linked with the programme to supply locally sourced farm produce.
Uwais said the government had achieved 30% improvement in school enrollment in the country since the commencement of the programme.
“We have created a value chain with significant economic benefits to the micro-economic development of the states.” she said.
“The value chain offers additional benefits of job creation and increased livelihood outcomes for both cooks and small holder-farmers, hence improving livelihood and the local economies.”
Other components of the SIP are N-Power, national cash transfer project, and government enterprise and empowerment programme.
A man who claims to be a pastor was caught stealing a goat at Akukwa village in Igbo-Ukwu, Anambra state.
He was tied up with the stolen goat and beaten after he was caught. He was also interrogated by village vigilante members of which he disclosed that his name is pastor Chinedu from Orifite in Anambra state.
He added that he owns a church known as Key of Life Ministries in Ozubulu town but came to Igbo-Ukwu for an engagement.

A 10-year-old girl who was married by three different men has been rescued by a concerned citizen in Kenya.
The girl who is from Baringo county, Tirioko ward in Tiaty constituency, Kenya, was married off when she was eight years old. Because she could not conceive after marriage, she was beaten at her home and this caused her to flee.
She was later married off to another man who also maltreated her. According to reports, the girl suffers from a disease that made her stomach to swell, but the men who married the underage girl thought she was pregnant.
It was also revealed that she was made to undergo Female Genital Mutilation, FGM, when she was much younger.
Judy Seguton, the good Samaritan who saved the girl, said she was married off to her first husband after the circumcision and she lived with him for three months before she fled due to the constant beatings she got because she could not conceive. Her parents married her off to the second man and she lived with him for three weeks before escaping again.
Her parents then beat her up for escaping from her second husband’s house, then married her off to a third husband.
All the men who she was married off to were very old.
The girl is now receiving treatment after being rescued by Judy. The swelling in her stomach is also going down.

A grieving father who thought his newborn baby had died was shocked to find out his girlfriend had faked the pregnancy after he saw a doll buried inside his dead baby’s coffin.
Melvin Mendoza discovered the newborn baby he was grieving for had never even existed after he and his friends dug up the tiny white coffin and found a doll in it, instead of a human baby. His partner, Rosa Castellanos Diaz, had reportedly spent nine months pretending to be pregnant with twins.
It is reported that her actions were a bizarre attempt to keep her “wayward” partner by her side, although this has not been confirmed.
Last Friday morning, Rosa left her village home and took a bus to the Honduras’ capital Tegucigalpa, claiming she was heading for the city’s Escuela Hospital to give birth to her baby. That night, she reportedly called Melvin, a member of the Honduran Armed Forces, to tell him the sad news that child had died while being delivered.
The grief-stricken father and his relatives put on a wake and awaited the arrival of his partner and the “dead child”. Rosa reportedly arrived at noon the next day, carrying the coffin. However, she told loved ones they could not see the “baby” as the hospital had sealed the box and prohibited her from opening it.
The funeral took place at her local graveyard in El Coyolar, Honduras. Family and friends took turns to carry the “deceased twin’s” coffin before bidding an emotional farewell to them.
Rosa also told everyone that she had left the other twin being cared for in the hospital. But the next day, Melvin’s pals reportedly began to doubt Rosa’s story. They expressed fears that Rosa had invented the story to convince Melvin not to leave her, so they decided to return to the graveyard to dig up the coffin with him. When they did, they found a plastic doll dressed up as a baby inside.
Shocking footage, shared on Twitter by shows the doll lying inside the open coffin by the side of the exhumed grave.
One, Ismael Mejia, told Honduras’ El Heraldo newspaper: “The whole thing didn’t seem right. So in the night we went to the cemetery to dig it up. When we pulled out the box, to our surprise what we found inside was a doll, dressed up as if it were a child.
“We took the coffin to the police so they could see that we didn’t take the child out of the box and replace it with a doll.”
After discovering the alleged trick, Melvin reportedly decided not to press charges against Rosa.

Ubi who spoke on the masterclass which was focused on the principles of human flourishing, well-being and living a life leveraging positive emotions, healthier habits and powerful self-awareness practices, shared stories about his previous suicidal thoughts.
According to TheCable, the father-of-one explained the need to avoid creating negative pictures in the mind or attaching importance to specific dates that represent bad moments, but instead use such days or moments as an impetus for success.

Punch reported that the Ibeto who has left Minna for his home town of Ibeto in Magama Local Government Area of the state, was received by over 1,000 supporters on his way to Ibeto. At Ibeto, it is expected he will officially resign his membership of the APC and assume PDP membership.
A U.S based Pastor based has reportedly committed suicide in Massachusetts after engagement photographs of the girlfriend he left only a month ago in Uganda, went viral.

The people of Biafra, IPOB has warned that they are going to shock those who are doubting the actualization of Biafra.
The pro-Biafra group made the statement while reiterating its determination to actualize the sovereign state of Biafra.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB insisted that no amount of arrests, killings, detentions, harassments, tortures, judicial extortions and sabotage would stop it from achieving its aim. He said:

Barely a day after Kim Kardashian clapped back at Tyson Beckford for body-shaming her, a new video surfaced showing the mother of three doing same to her own sister, Kourtney.
Blac Chyna is reportedly ‘devastated’ after her mother Tokyo Toni called her a product of rape.
Tokyo Toni also said it was entirely a mistake having Blac Chyna as her child.
In a recent video she released, the grandmother of two, resorted to calling her estranged daughter a “mistake” and a “statutory rape baby” in a lengthy rant sparked by Chyna’s refusal to let her mom see her grandkids King Cairo and Dream Kardashian.
According to Hollywood Life, Chyna is completely stricken by her mother’s decision to lambaste her in a heated rant a few days ago.
Yesterday, Tokyo called Chyna’s 18-year-old boyfriend, rapper YBN Almighty Jay a ‘little-retarded Chimpanzee.’
She also called YBN Almighty a ‘side bar’ and said he will snitch on Chyna.
