The incident took place on Saturday, July 21, during Lagos State PDP Visitation meeting at Igbosuku village, Eti-Osa LGA, attended by Lagos State and Local Government PDP Chairmen.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said fracas broke out between contending factions of the party towards the end of the meeting.

“One faction was for the State Chairman, Hon. Moshood Adegoke Sabadon and the other for the Eti-Osa LG Chapter Chairman, Engr Kehinde Fasasi,” he said

“In the melee, one Hon. Borishade Adeniyi, the Apapa LG PDP Chapter Chairman, recognised also as the Doyen of PDP LG Chapter Chairmen in Lagos State, was allegedly shot and injured on the legHe was rushed to First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos, where he was treated but eventually died. Corpse of the deceased is deposited in the hospital mortuary. Two other persons allegedly injured during the clash, are also receiving treatment in a hospital in Ajah”

In a swift reaction, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Imohimi Edgal, directed the Area Commander in-charge of Area ‘J’ Elemoro, to ensure the arrests of all those with hands in the crime.

Following the directive, five of the principal suspects had been arrested. They are:

1. Engr Kehinde Fasasi, chapter chairman, Eti-Osa LG,
2. Hon. Rotimi Kujore, PDP chapter chairman, Lagos Island LG
3. Alhaji Fatai Adele, PDP chapter chairman, Mushin LG,
4. Mr. Ismail Abiola, PDP chapter chairman, Amuwo Odofin LG and
5. Dr. Amos Alabi Fawole, PDP chapter chairman, Surulere LG. ..

The five suspects have been transferred to SCIID, Panti, for further investigation.

The CP is completely disappointed with PDP Leadership in the state for their penchant for violence. It will be recalled that on the 12/07/2018, two male thugs, Wale Oye, 37 and Ganiyu Ajiboluwa, 47, were arrested at Festac Extention by Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin with two pump action rifles given to them by their hirer, one Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Lagos State House of Assembly, to escort him to a political rally.

Meanwhile, Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu is warned to report at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, on Monday, at 0900hrs for the continuation of his case. He is reminded that he is only on administrative bail and not acquittal.

The CP warns that no political party will be allowed to truncate the peace in the state. He therefore calls on all political parties to disarm their members as nobody or group would be allowed to threaten anybody with firearms.

Bolanle Ninalowo, aka Nino B, has acted romantic scenes with some of the hottest women in the Nigerian movie industry.

This has made him the envy of many who wish to be in his shoes.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the actor confessed that he had been turned on on set.

He said, “Believe it or not, it probably happened to me once or twice within my entire career. However, my eyes and mind are always on the prize.”

Maintaining that he doesn’t have a favourite among all the actresses he has acted with, Ninalowo said, “I enjoy working with many of them. I have never really seen anyone as special because we simply go and get the job done. I do not have a favourite.”

Speaking on marriage, Bolanle said, “I am single but please do not expect any wedding soon. However, only God is king; so, we can never say never. When the time is right, I would like to walk a beautiful and God-fearing woman down the aisle.”

On if he can get married to someone in the entertainment industry, he said, “No, I doubt that. I don’t think I want the attention and drama. I would rather date someone low-key but I am not saying it cannot happen either.”

I am successfully single – Senator Dino Melaye

successfully single

Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi Central is one of the top Nigerian politicians with high penchant for luxurious items as cars and expensive clothing.

In an interview with Bode Gbadebo, he reveals that he is successfully single and talks about other personal things about him that may not be known.

Excerpts from the interview below:

You seem to have a glamourous lifestyle given your dress sense and collection of automobiles…

Anyway, I would say that my dress sense and collections of cars is a passion. I wear things that look nice on me and I try to look smart. Different people have different passion. For some, homosexualism is their passion and they can spend any amount of money on it. For some, diamond is their passion and they can spend any amount of money on it. If you argue with me, you can ask Diezani.

For some, blood is their passion, occultism, and they can spend any amount of money to get blood. For some, it’s bikes and for some, it’s cocaine. So, if my passion is automobiles, I should not be castigated for it. I have no regrets. For me it’s a passion and looking good for me it’s a hobby.

Are you aware that people talk about your living style?

I don’t feel perturbed at all and it doesn’t get to me at all because I know that whatever I’m driving and whatever I’m wearing are not products of corruption. The little God has provided for me is not ill-gotten and I should be able to spend my money the way I feel without forgetting that I need to take care of the needy and poor and that I’m doing graciously.

What designers do you patronise?

I patronise different designers depending on what it is. For clothing, I have designers that I appreciate. Shoes, I have designers that I appreciate. Belts, I have designers that I appreciate. Watches, I have different designers that I patronise even slippers. So, it depends on what kind of fashion gadget or ornament I’m wearing.

Specifically, what designer wristwatch and belt do you patronise?

For watches, I have different types of designers. Out of all my brands, I really love Franck Muller, I love Patek, Felipe, I love Rolex watches and I also appreciate watches like Jaypad. For my belt, most of my belts are Ferragamo and Versace belts.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to all kinds of music but I love traditional music because it teaches more sense and lessons. More importantly, I listen to gospel music.

Why do you subscribe to your type of fashion?

Because it’s more original to look yourself. It’s more original for you to wear what your think makes you happy than to copy someone. So, Dino is not a photocopy. I’m original and I initiate my own style.

Where is your favourite tourist destination in Nigeria?

I enjoyed Jos before it became volatile. I love the climate, I love the weather, I love the serenity of the town, and I love the mountainous nature of the communities around Jos. I also enjoy the Obudu Cattle Ranch. I enjoy the Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi.

I have visited Olumo Rock more than three or four times. So, this country is blessed with a lot of tourist attraction places of historical relevance. Gidan Makama in Kano is another good place I visit often.

What is your relationship with the entertainment industry in Nigeria?

I appreciate Nigerian artistes in Nollywood, music industry and comedy. Nigerian artistes are the best in the world. I appreciate them, I promote them where I can, I associate with them, I encourage them and I would say I respect them.

What do you eat?

Initially, some years ago I do not pay particular attention to what I eat but when I crossed 40, I started regulating my meals. Now, I’m on special diet not because I’m sick but because I need to be healthy. So, I eat healthy things, I take more greens now, I take more of vegetables. In fact, I do little or no starch. Again, I stopped taking red meat, I do more of sea foods and fish. I’m quite particular now about my meals. It’s a little portion. I’m trying to work on my three packs now to become six packs.

Favourite colours?

White, blue, and red in that order.

Tell us about your family sir?

My family is great, my family is wonderful. I love my kids to the moon. My kids are my friends. I have a wonderful family, a God-fearing family. And again, I’m successfully single.

How do you relax?

I read books, I do a lot of exercise, I go to the gym. When time permits, I watch movies and I write a lot. I love to travel, I love to spend time on the mountain, I love to spend time by waterside, I listen to music and I play soccer.

Ooni Ife & Saidi Balogun

Nollywood Actor and Filmmaker, Saidi Balogun and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, have rolled out plans to partner the Brazilian government in shooting a movie to promote the Yoruba culture.

The decision was recently taken when the veteran actor and the Monarch paid a grand visit to Brazil.

In a chat with Potpourri, the versatile thespian said he was shocked to see that Brazilians had embraced the Yoruba culture, traditions and religion.

“I travelled with the Ooni to Brazil to do some cultural things for African people over there, especially the Yorubas. It’s like our father going there to unite them and bring them back to the roots.

“We have about 400 deities in Yoruba land and 200 in Ife. In Brazil they worship Sango and some other gods; they even sing Yoruba songs. They sang the songs for us when we got there. I’m the first actor and movie producer to travel out with the Ooni”, he said.

He added, “The Ooni took me there so we could look for ways to beautify our culture; so that both countries can work together. Movie makers there appreciate our culture. I was surprised to see how they love and embrace our culture. So we are trying to work together with the government to produce a movie in that regard”, he said.

”He hasn’t called or spoken to me in 5 years” – Mikel Obi’s father reveals

Mikel Obi's father

The 74-year-old father of Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, Chief Michael Obi, has revealed that the Defensive Midfielder hasn’t spoken to him in 5 years.

The septuagenarian shared this in an new interview with Daily Trust where he spoke about his recent encounter with kidnappers and reasons why Mikel rarely comes to see him. He also spoke on his relationship with Mikel’s twin daughters.

Read excerpts from the interview below,

Daily Trust: You recently regained your freedom from kidnappers. Can you share your experience?

Chief Michael Obi: I was travelling home for a family meeting, early evening, in Enugu. I’d just reminded my driver to stop at the Ninth Mile to buy Okpa in case I fall asleep. Not quite long after a checkpoint, we heard gunshots ahead of us, so we stopped. My driver reckoned it was armed robbers, and tried to reverse the car. But another car from nowhere blocked us from behind, and the people within came and dragged us out. The kidnappers were six, well-armed and masked. They assaulted us, and dragged us into the bush. We walked for many hours, and when I complained that I could not continue, they beat me again. Eventually, they told my driver to carry me on his back. But after a while, he also got tired and dropped me. We walked into the bush for what seemed like the whole night, until the next morning. I asked them what they wanted from me, and that was when they told me they wanted N100 million. We communicated in Hausa, and some broken English. I told them I could not afford it, and they said they heard that my son sends me N50 million to me bi-weekly. We started to negotiate, and they threatened to kill me. I told them I only had N2 million in my bank account.

When I noticed they were serious, I told them I could give them N5 million. We agreed on that sum, but they later refused, insisting on N50 million. I finally pegged it at N10 million. Two days later, they brought out my phone to call my son Tony, and I told him what was happening, and asked him to go to my bank. But when they went there, the manager was not on seat, so my other son, Ebele, who is the goalkeeper for Heartlands of Owerri, contacted Mikel. That was how the ransom was made available.

DT: How was the exchange done?

Obi: I asked them how the money could be made available to them, and they suggested that the money be brought to Mile 9. On Friday, my sons tried to get the money, but it could only be made available on Monday, since banks didn’t operate at the weekend. When I told the kidnappers, they got mad and beat me.

So, in the early hours of Monday, they brought the phone and asked me to speak with my son, in English or Hausa only. My son told me they were on their way with the money, and the kidnappers warned that if we dare involve the police they would kill me. It was almost 12 noon when my son called to say they were at the agreed spot. God so kind, they used one of our transport buses, so they were able to cross the police checkpoint without any hitch.

The kidnappers warned that if they find that the money was short, they would kill me. But after almost two hours of the ransom arriving, the kidnappers still didn’t go to collect the money. I told them not to blame me if anything happens to the money. They ignored me, and their leader brought out marijuana and shared it round, and they smoked. When they finished, four of them left, leaving two to guard us. Almost two hours later, the two asked us to get up and move, then gave my driver one of my phones. A few minutes later, we heard gunshots. We fell to the ground, while the two ran off. As we lay there, we heard shouts saying the shooters were the police, come to rescue us. They did, and led us to the main road.

DT: What about your car, and the ransom money?

Obi: It was later that the DPO told us that my car was at the police station. My son Tony who carried the money told me they didn’t collect it at the Ninth Mile, but asked him to follow them with the money. He said they moved into the bush, where he saw more armed gang members. He gave them the money, and they examined it. They later asked him to leave, and he came back and we reunited at a relative’s filling station.

DT: How did they treat you when you were with them?

Obi: We slept on the ground, and for the five days we were with them, there was heavy rain for three. It drenched us under a tree. It was only once that they brought us Okpa and pure water. Miraculously, I was never hungry. My thoughts were on how to get home safe.

DT: How different was the experience from the one of 2011?

Obi: Those first kidnappers did not treat me as badly as these ones. Though I stayed in a bunker for 11 days during the first, they gave me food and the only time they beat me was when they captured me.

DT: Was any ransom paid then?

Obi: None was paid. It was the handwork of God

DT: Your son Mikel paid the recent ransom. What’s your relationship like?

Obi: It is an issue, but we don’t know what to do. It’s over five years now without a phone call from him to me. But he communicates with his mother. There is nothing I have not done to fix it. God has told me that I should not feel hurt. When we start to talk about it, I say, ‘Well, as long as I see him on TV, doing great, no problem’.

DT: But some people say he called you recently…

Obi: During the just-concluded World Cup, one or two days to one of their matches, we spoke. He called his mum, and she told me that Nchekwube (Mikel) was on the phone and I told him that God will see him through. I prayed for him. That’s it. When he first joined Chelsea, my people in Anambra were very happy that God has blessed their son, and when he came to Abuja, they prepared very well with the hope that he will come to our hometown. They even made some magazines. It was grand. But he didn’t come. It was a shameful thing to me, as a father. He once told his brother that sometimes he picks his phone to call me, but something tells him not to.

DT: Have you met your grandchildren, the twins, yet?

Obi: Sometime last year, he was to bring them so that I could name them, he said he would. But he didn’t. His other colleagues frequent home, so I don’t understand.

DT: Do you encourage him to invest at home?

Obi: Isn’t that why kidnappers are targeting me? Because they think the money he makes, he ships it to me to make investments.

Actress Tracy Daniels says Producers are benching them for those with British Accents

Nollywood Actress, Tracy Daniels in a recent chat with Vanguard has revealed why she has been missing in movies in recent times.

She blamed the ugly development on some notable Production companies, lamenting their discriminatory attitudes towards the home-based actors.

According to her, apart from the fact that good scripts have been hard to come by in recent times, most notable production companies are only featuring what she calls “UK returnee-actors” in their movies.

Stressing further, she said “It’s so bad that the discrimination is now based on who speaks foreign accent fluently and talent is no longer the yardstick for selecting actors to feature in movies.”

“Most of us who are based in the country have been ‘benched’ by the giant production companies simply because they want to cast British-trained actors to shoot Nigerian version of American superhero film, Black Panther.”

Children abandon their mother after a pastor labeled her a witch in Delta State

An instagram user has shared touching videos/photos of an old woman who was abandoned by her children after a pastor allegedly told them their Mother was a witch.

The old woman is currently nursing a wound in her leg and because she wasn’t responding to treatment, it was attributed to her being a witch.

The old woman in this video claimed to have been abandoned by her children who she also claimed to have been living with in the neighbouring community just because she has a leg wound and a pastor told them that she is a witch that is why the wound in her leg is not responding to treatment and that the solution is to send her away before she commits more havoc…now according to her she has 3kids and they are alive, she didn’t kill anyone nor has any diabolical power…it rains on her daily as the roof of the hut she resides is leaking, her leg wound has worsened and she can hardly feed now she is calling on well meaning people over the world to assist her with anything to sustain her life..All i saw in the hut was a small fireplace to generate heat as the downpour gets heavier and a few empty pots??? Witch or no witch she deserves to live.
The incident is happening in Owehlogbo,Isoko north local government of Delta state..

Jehovah witness dies after refusing blood transfusion following an accident in Jos

A Lady on Facebook has shared the sad story of ‘Jehovah Witness Devotee’ who was involved in an accident and could have been saved but for his refusal to undergo blood transfusion, ended up losing his life.

She wrote ;

I am heart broken!!!
Lost a colleague in the industry to some religious fallacies…. I am angry, I have been restless since I heard how he died….

Bros is big top Oga in one of the Banks, He had an accident Saturday night on his way home, He was rushed to a very good private hospital, everyone can attest they are good. Bros needed blood urgently cos he had lost so much blood.

They called his wife and family and they refused to give consent to be transfused cos they are Jehovah witness, they doctors tried all they could, according to reports the pastors and others stayed put and refused.

Where my heart shattered is that,I learnt bros was begging his family to help save his life, he asked they give consent , they refused and said Jehovah will save him if he wants.
His younger brother tried but the moved bros out of the hospital to the one owned by JW….. The younger brother is just a young student so he couldn’t do much to help his brother.

Bros died in the JW hospital, I am broken….. I am so hurt hearing this careless death

Woman gives birth in restaurant Toilet; baby offered free food for life.

A woman took an unplanned bathroom break at Chick-Fil-A and ended up delivering her baby there in the restaurant’s restroom.

Falon Griffin began having contractions on Tuesday. She and her husband Robert Griffin made a stop on their way to San Antonio, Texas’ University Hospital to meet up with a family friend at a local Chick-Fil-A store so they could drop off their two older daughters with them before going to deliver their baby.

As they stopped, Falon realized she needed to use the bathroom. It was after 10 p.m. at the time and Chick-Fil-A was closed but the couple banged on the windows to try and get the staff’s attention because Falon didn’t feel like she could wait until they got to the hospital.

Falon was allowed inside while her husband waved goodbye to the kids. Afterward, Robert went inside the store and was told by the manager that his wife was “screaming” in the restroom, only for him to learn that she was in the process of giving birth.

Writing about it in a Facebook post that has since gone viral, Robert said:

“Last night I delivered our baby girl IN THE BATHROOM AT A CHICK-FIL-A!”

Later, Robert told KENS-TV: “I can see just the top of Gracelyn’s head, just barely crowning, but I knew we couldn’t go anywhere. So I told her, ‘Sweetie, we’re gonna do something great, and we’re gonna do it right here and we’re gonna do it right now’.”

“I couldn’t control it,” his wife added. “I was basically [straddling] the toilet — I wasn’t even sitting down. I was literally standing giving birth, with one hand on the wall and one hand holding her head.”

However, during the delivery, Robert wrote on Facebook that he noticed that the child’s umbilical cord “was wrapped around her neck twice.” Not wanting to worry his wife, Robert “told her to relax for a minute and I was somehow able to unwrap the chordfrom the baby’s neck.”

“With two more strong pushes, and using my shirt for a towel, out came Gracelyn Mae Violet Griffin,” he wrote, adding that “paramedics arrived 15 minutes later” and that “everyone’s healthy.”

Continuing, the proud father wrote, “Her birth certificate reads ‘Born in Chick-Fil-A’ and the hospital had me sign the birth certificate as the attending physician. ?”

In honor of the unexpected delivery, the popular franchise will give her free food for life and has also guaranteed her a job as soon as she turns 16.

“Female politicians are more trustworthy” – Olusegun Obasanjo

Female politicians

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerian women to get more involved in political activities, saying from his experience, female politicians are more trustworthy than their male counterparts.

Obasanjo, who spoke at a retreat in support of women’s participation in government, political processes and the work place organized by the Initiative for Information, Arts and Culture Development in Nigeria in conjunction with the American Corner, Ibadan, cited the number of men who were prosecuted for several corrupt cases compared to women, and other factors as evidence of his assertion.

In the keynote address, Obasanjo said women’s contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) were higher. “No nation will become great when half of her population ends up only in the kitchen and ‘the other room’, or get disproportionately discriminated against in the higher echelon of corporate management and in governance.”

He called for more effort to remove barriers to women in attaining higher positions in politics, adding, “All hindrances to free and compulsory girl-child education in Nigeria for the first nine years of formal school such as culture, religion and so on should be stopped. Child marriage should be made unlawful, girls must be able to receive formal education from primary to tertiary level. This gathering could not have come at a better time than now, when everyone is looking forward to the politics of 2019.”
