Nigeria’s footballing legend Nwankwo Kanu has been robbed on the way to Kaliningrad in Russia, according to reports.
According to TASS Russian News Agency, it was reported that US$11,000 (approximately N4m) was stolen from the former Arsenal striker while he was traveling from London to Moscow.
Kanu’s final destination was Kaliningrad, the city that will host the Super Eagles World Cup opener against Croatia on June 16.
At Khrabrovo airport, he received his baggage, and discovered that the money was stolen when he got to his hotel. Two Sheremetyevo Airport staff have been detained on suspicion of stealing the money from the Nigerian star.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said a four-year tenure is too small for anyone in public office to deliver because there are many plans of things to deliver that will take time.
Osinbajo said this in an interview at the Financial Times Nigeria Summit held in Lagos.
According to the transcript of the interview made available to journalists on Saturday, the Vice President said:
“I think that for anyone who is in office, it (four years) would be too small because obviously, you have all manner of plans and things to deliver. But my take is that the moment you have the right people and you put the right structures in place, you can do a lot, and I think we have been blessed with an incredibly good team,”
He said the present administration wanted to farther ahead in terms of manufacturing. He however described them as infrastructure constraints that cannot be developed overnight.
This, he said, was why the government was investing heavily in infrastructure; rail, road and power.
The VP added:
“This is the significant part of the investment that we are doing; concessioning the Lagos-Kano to General Electric, the narrow gauge, developing the standard gauge is important in terms of just movement of goods and all that.
“A lot of these initiatives would be a great help in moving goods.”

Governor of Imo state , Rochas Okorocha was the minister at the Victory Chapel at the government house, Owerri and he was seen anointing members of the chapel during the June 2018 anointing service.

A 35-year-old mother identified as Mrs. Chika Okoye with her son, Samuel, and his friend, Dan Abah, have been arrested by the operatives of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Nasarawa State for examination malpractice.
The sober mother who spoke to newsmen after her arrest, revealed that she hired Abah to write her son’s matriculation exam because her son couldn’t get admitted for many years.
“We couldn’t get admission for many years so I became frustrated; he was also frustrated and nobody is helping us.
“I have other children who have graduated but for the past four years or more now, he (Samuel) has failed to pass the exams, so I became frustrated.”
“So, I asked his friend to help him to write the exams, I told him I will give him something but I know it is a very bad thing. Please, forgive me sir, I was so frustrated,” Chika pleaded.
The state’s commandant, Mohammed Gidado-Fari, who also spoke to newsmen, disclosed that Abah was caught writing the JAMB examination at the Command Secondary School Lafia over the weekend on contract, as it was gathered he was to be paid an unspecified amount of money after her son passed the examination.
Punch reported that the commandant also paraded a 32 year-old man, Mr. Obey Samuel who beat his biological mother into a coma without provocation.
“Samuel was arrested on Monday for beating his biological mother to a state of coma without any provocation,” he stated.
While interviewed, Samuel denied beating his mother, saying, “I did not beat her but I know that when I come back from a night club at that time, I was drunk, I just locked her up in her room.”

The final list of 23 players who will play at the FIFA Russia World Cup has been released.
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has released the final list of 23 players who will play at the FIFA Russia World Cup, which begins on 14 June.
Missing in the list are Ola Aina and Mikel Agu, who were part of the 25-man Eagles squad that went to London for the friendly with the England team at Wembley.
The list came a day ahead of the official FIFA deadline of 4 June – the FIFA Council as far back as January 2017, set June 4 as the deadline for the submission of the final list of 23 players by all the 32 teams taking part in the Russia tournament.
14 May was set as deadline for participating member associations to release a list of 30 players, which Nigeria also complied with.
Daughter of late former NAFDAC head, Dora Akunyili, Chidiogo Akunyili and her love Andrew Parker had their white wedding ceremony in a beautiful and unconventional way.

A quite lovely looking Hausa bride was all shades of happy recently after an American man came all the way from his country to marry her after converting to Islam.
The American citizen came all the way from the United States to wed his beautiful Hausa lover whom he has been dating online for 2 years without meeting in person, according to Arewa24News.
The report further revealed that the man landed in Abuja and headed to Kano to seal the union.
The man reportedly embraced Islam and had his name changed to Musa as he tied the knot traditionally last week in the presence of family and friends.
The 2018 edition of the One Africa Music Festival held on Saturday, June 2.

Artistes who performed include: 2baba, Kranium, Kizz Daniel, Wande Coal, Vanessa Mdee, Diamond Platnumz, Cassper Nyovest, Sarkodie, Flavour, Tekno, Stonebwoy, Skales, Kcee, Niniola, Seyi Shay and many more.
On a night and venue where the Nigerian Super Eagles had earlier in the day taken on their English counterpart, the Three Lions in an international friendly building up to the World Cup at the Wembley stadium, Nigerians who attended the game largely stayed back to partake in the One Africa Music Festival which held at The SSE Arena, Wembley.
Amongst those who were present at the One Africa Music Festival 2018 were superstars Wizkid alongside Tiwa Savage intensifying their romantic links despite not billed to perform on the night, as they were captured together amidst the crowd enjoying the concert.
