Peter Idehen, the ex-husband of Patience Patra Idehen, has finally shared his side of the story two months after she publicly accused him of abandoning her and their children.

Recall that Patra, who runs the once-popular beauty pageantry, Face of Beauty Nigeria, made headlines recently after calling out her husband for being a deadbeat father.

She mentioned that issues started arising when she purchased a car in her name. According to her, her husband became jealous and began giving her attitude because of the car and how she paid the bills whenever they went out together.

Sadly, she suffered financial hardship in December 2022 and had to sell the car and a plot of land she owned in Benin City.

Amidst her financial struggles, she claimed her husband abandoned her and their two children under the guise of learning a new skill, which she had paid for.

Things worsened when she received a heartbreaking message from her husband, stating that their marriage had been over since 2019.

Due to her financial situation, she couldn’t provide for her children. When she contacted him for money, he allegedly sent meager sums of N2,000 and N5,000, barely enough to feed the kids.

She tearfully narrated how she went days without eating because she was saving her money to feed the children. She mentioned being on the verge of eviction and requested financial help. Watch her speak here.

In a new update, Peter has come out to respond to her allegations in a video he shared online. He denied abandoning his wife and their kids, claiming that he traveled to hustle for the family but always checked on Patra and the kids, and she consistently reported that everything was okay with them.

His words,

“First of all, I did not abandon you and the kids. I did not. When I left, it was to go hustle for you and the children. Regardless of the fact that we were not together anymore, I never abandoned my responsibility and I am sorry if you perceived it that way because we are not together and you alone have to go through taking care of the children. I understand that. A lot of things have happened that I was not aware of.

First of all, we didn’t even have that communication. We were not talking on the phone. We communicated via text. Anything you were telling me was via text. When I asked you how are you, you would say you were fine, so I didn’t even know the depth of what you were going through.”

Responding to the allegation that he married Patra because she had money, Peter said;

“I knew you had a car but I did not know like the extent to which you had some money. I thought you were a trying babe. If you see a girl who had nice hair and a nice phone, would you think that she is a millionaire? That is the normal thing that girls try to have. It was after we got married you started letting me know the depth….I did not know all these things before we got married. We were in love and that was what led to the marriage. Not because of any other factor. At all. I am a Bini man. I have pride. You know right from time I have never and will never be interested in your money. I have my pride.

For the age thing, I knew you were older than me but I didn’t care. I am a Bini man. In my culture, a woman (wife) shouldn’t be older than her husband, unless we are siblings. In any relationship, the woman is not supposed to be older than in man in Bini culture. So those things didn’t bother me at all.”
