Gunmen alleged to be armed robbers have reportedly killed two students of the Federal University, Lafia.
One of the students who was killed, had graduated with first class from the economics department and was processing his final clearance while the other was a 400 level student in the English Department.
The gunmen had stormed the students’ village at Mararaba-Akunza, opposite the university gate at about 10:30pm on Wednesday night and shot sporadically. The bullets hit the victims. One of them died on the spot while the other one died while being rushed to the hospital.
The remains of the two students have been deposited at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia. Confirming the incident, the Nasarawa State police spokesman, DSP Kennedy Idirisu, says investigations into the matter has commenced.

An Igbo man, Didi Mehn on Facebook has narrated how his girlfriend and family initially accepted his marriage proposal, but gone against it after they discovered some things about him.
Didi narrated the story on Social media, and revealed his girfriend family disoveed he is an Osu (outcast), and they called off the engagement between the love birds.

Discrimination against the Osu people has been going on for ages, especially when it comes to marriage. The Amadi, who see themselves as the freeborn, treat the Osu as people who are unclean, and once you marry into an Osu family, you become an Osu and so will your offspring.
The Osu caste system is an ancient practice in Igboland that discourages social interaction and marriage with a group of persons called Osu.
Osu are the people dedicated to the gods; so they are regarded as slaves, strangers, outcasts, and untouchables.
Oral history has it that an osu was a respected monk devoted to the service and worship of a deity. The origin of the osu caste system can be traced back to the era when deities were believed to ask for human sacrifice during festivals in order to clean the land from abomination thus leading to the purchase of a slave by the people.
The osu caste system also has its origin traced to the Nri Kingdom. It is believed that the Nris possessed a hereditary power and thus do go about cleansing various kingdoms of abomination; any community that refuses to be cleansed are called osus.
Another view on the history of the osu caste system centres on ostracization. This occurs when a person or group of persons who refuse the orders of a king or the decision of a community are banished from the community thus resulting to the victim and its generation being called osus.

Bonded and Washed up
There wasn’t much action in the House until Biggie pulled yet another rabbit out of his bottomless hat and had the Housemates switched and paired up again. He called it ‘the season of love’.
The Housemates were given a strict rule of engagement. They were to avoid conversing with Housemates either than their bonded pairs. This at the begging seemed an impossible Task but the Housemates got so submerged that they eventually dissolved the rule and started cross-conversing.
The most interesting of the bonded pairs were Lolu and Cee-C. There seemed to be dark clouds of personal vendettas hanging over the two and the moment couldn’t be more opportune. The pair stayed up until the early hours of the morning conversing mostly about Cee-C’s love interest in the House, Tobi. Even though she was beating around the bush for a while, Lolu finally cracked the nut and she confessed that she did really like Tobi ‘a lot’.
BamBam and Tobi seemed too close for comfort because judging by the way BamBam seemed so attached to Teddy A, One would assume she’d be miserable without her bae but, she certainly seems comfortable on Tobi’s lap.
During the Diary sessions, the Housemates revealed why they had nominated other pairs and who they’d eliminate with immediate effect had they been handed the opportunity.
Big Brother must have grown tired of the Housemates’ clear disregard for his rules. He summoned all the pairs except Bambam, Tobi, Khloe and Anto onto the centre of the garden and had them showered back to obedience, if any ever existed. The Housemates weren’t impressed, some even close to tears but the mood was eventually restored. While most Housemates slept, Lolu and Cee-C carried on with their gist and by the look of things, the pairs aren’t missing each other.
New Pair Dynamics
When Biggie first paired the Housemates, it was clear that some of them became very comfortable in their couples, now that things have been shaken up, a whole new dynamic is developing in the House.
A Sleepless Night
Tobi and Cee-C caused quite a stir when they were paired together which gave the other Housemates much to gossip about. They were always attached at the hip and did not spend time with many of the other Housemates. Biggie’s reshuffling saw Cee-C paired with Lolu and this seems to of caused some separation anxiety. Last night was a wild one for both Tobi and Cee-C, she finally admitted to liking Tobi but then afterward could be hear chatting to Lolu, telling him how she desperately misses her boyfriend outside the House. With mixed messages in tow, Tobi spent the whole night tossing and turning.
Struggles
It is evident at this point that Tobi, Cee-C and Lolu are all struggling with the reshuffling the most out of everyone. While many of the other Housemates have taken the new bonding exercise in their stride, Lolu is looking a little lost without Anto, and Cee-C and Tobi clearly don’t like being apart.
Shifting Perspectives
We all loved watching the rocky romance between BamBam and Teddy A, for a while it seemed they were almost exclusive and then in a flash. Wham Bam, Thank you maam! Both Teddy A and BamBam were on to new things last night. Alex and Teddy A are really enjoying their time together and even though Tobi may be reeling, BamBam doesn’t seem bothered at all. Last night she looked perfectly content sitting on Tobi’s lap.
Entertain Us Now
Biggie’s Decree
These Housemates have been all-talk and no-action. They have discussed at length the possibility of putting on entertainment shows for the audience but we had not seen any shows until Biggie gave his decree. He told the 24-hour pairs to each put on a show for him, all except for Lolu and Cee-C, who are in the dog box.
The performances
First to the stage was Dee-One and Miracle who had the Housemates in stitches with their game tiko-tiko. Bambam and Tobi put on a musical drama for the Housemates and the camera-men came to the table as they kept showing us Cee-C.
24-hour absence makes the heart grow fonder
Cee-C did not seem impressed to see her man with another woman, she will blame it on her eyesight but we know the truth. She has on many occasions denounced her relationship with Tobi, but if looks could kill, Bambam would be gone. Cee-C is the the perfect example that absence really does make the heart grow fonder. Our advice to Cee-C is that she should not fight cupid’s arrow and she should go get her man.
Teddy A sang and rapped while Alex tried to sing. The voice gods may have failed her but her spirit to do her best and entertain Biggie makes us give her an A+ for the presentation. The great camera-men kept showing us BamBam who looked forlorn. We thought that after bonding with Tobi that she may be over Teddy A, but it seems as though what they have can stand the test of 24-hour separation.
Is love in the air?
The talented Bitto and Ifu Ennada put on a sexy singing and acting presentation. Ifu Ennada has on many occasion commented on Bitto’s manhood and yesterday they were kissing all over the House. Could it be that something is brewing in “Bifu” land? These two are great performers so it could all be an act but it being the month of love, we hope they are not playing with our hearts.
Nina sang All of Me to K.Brule while Miracle looked at her longingly. For the second part of their presentation K.Brule impersonated the Housemates and got a standing ovation. It was heart-warming to see K.Brule happy. We love this side of him and hope his jumping days are over.
Chocolate Angel and caramel Rico Swavey looked like a dessert advert as they serenaded the Housemates with their cool sound. Ahneeka and Leo looked like the epitome of a power couple as they prepared for their hip-hop musical presentation.
“Girl-mance”
Princess and Vandora admitted that they bonded over silliness which was evidenced in their hilarious presentation of Housemate impersonations. The silly pair had the House in stitches. This “girl-mance” is really beautiful and we are happy that they found each other and we hope that the claws don’t come out and ruin it.
The last group was none other than HoH Khloe and Anto as they gave the guys a memorable show in their bra-lettes and short skirts. Don’t you think they looked like the Nigerian version of Beyonce and Nicki Minaj in the Feelin Myself music video?

Biggie released the Housemates from the harnesses that tied them together so they could better celebrate Valentine’s Day. When Head of House Khloe read his instructions for them to return to their original pairing, the news was welcome with great applause and broad smiles.
Everyone jumped for joy at this development. Everyone except Lolu and Cee-C who were still bound together. Earlier in the day there was some major friction as the rope that bound them snapped and hit Lolu, who was accidentally hit in the groin and had been limping since. As Khloe read further that Lolu and Cee-C must continue to use this opportunity to appreciate their differences and the importance of tolerance. Biggie wanted Housemates to embody Nigeria’s values of Unity, Peace and Progress. Judging by the frown on her face and the weezy breath, Cee-C was not amused, especially as this meant that Tobi and Anto who she deeply distrust would now form a pair.
Head of House Khloe giggled even more as she continued to read Biggie’s instructions that tasked all the guys to cook up a storm for their female pairs, and not just any type of meal, one worthy of Valentine’s Day that is a creative, love-tasting dish. The girls on the other hand were tasked with looking their best for their special partner, and bring their most glamorous self for an al fresco romantic dinner under the stars.
Once the pantry was emptied, Tobi gently pushed Cee-C into the storage room and they shared a long, gluttonous kiss, unaware that Lolu was still in the back of the room. Embarrassed, Lolu took a dig at them that the last time he did it was in high school. Cebi had no need for words as their chemistry filled the screen.

A 10-year-old girl, Vera, and her younger sister, Favour, five, are grappling with injuries inflicted on them by their stepmother.
The woman, Chidima Nnachi, reportedly beat up Vera, rubbed pepper on her eyes and burned her back with a hot knife.
She also reportedly injured Favour on the forehead and inserted pepper in her eyes for allegedly soiling her body.
The family, including Nnachi’s husband, resided on Aso Rock Street, Brucknor Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos State.
While the children were rescued and taken into protective custody by the Office of the Public Defender of the state Ministry of Justice, Nnachi was arrested by the police from the Ejigbo division.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the 29-year-old trader allegedly tortured Vera, a primary four pupil of Ola Olu Montessori School, because she went to play after returning from the school on February 7, 2018.
It was gathered that the children’s mother died in 2012 after she gave birth to Favour.
A neighbour, identified simply as Olajide, was said to have reported the case at the Ejigbo Police Division and the suspect was apprehended.
Olajide told the police that Nnachi had been maltreating the children for a long time, adding that Vera’s groans on that day prompted her to make a report.
He said, “It was a neigbour who called my attention to the maltreatment of the children by their stepmother. I witnessed the torture of the girl (Vera) by her stepmother. She beat her for about three hours on that day. I was sad and informed the community development association chairman who advised that that we should report the case to the police.”
Vera said she had returned from her school – some distance away from the house – on the day with Favour, but returned to the school premises to play.
She said when she returned home around 3.30pm, she met her stepmother, who beat her up with a stick for playing on the street.
The girl added that Nnachi put a knife in a burning liquefied petroleum gas (cooking gas) for some minutes and pressed it on her back.
She said, “On Wednesday, February 7, after the school closed, I went back to the school compound to play and came back home around 3.30pm. When my stepmother returned from her shop in Isheri Osun, she asked me why I left home to play on the street. I told her that I was playing at the school compound, but she said I was lying.
“She started beating me. She put on the cooking gas and placed a knife on fire. She put pepper in my eyes and I could not see again. She then pressed the hot knife on my back. I cried and felt pains.
“The following day, my younger sister woke up in the morning with faeces on her body. She (Nnachi) beat her and put pepper in her eyes too. Our father had travelled when the incidents happened.”
The suspect, the mother of one, in her statement to the police reportedly confessed to assaulting Vera, adding that she did not treat her injuries.
She said, “Favour and Vera have been living with me since 2014 when I got married to their father. I was told their mother died in 2012 after Favour’s birth. On February 7 around 3pm, I came back from my shop in Isheri Osun and met only Favour and my two-year-old child, Dominion, at home.
“I checked everywhere, but did not see Vera. When she later came back, I asked her where she went to. She said she went to another street. As I wanted to beat her, she ran away. Her school proprietress brought her home. When the proprietress left, I put fresh pepper in her eyes and pressed a hot knife on her back several times. Vera was the one who took care of her sister and my son when I had gone to the shop.”
A police prosecutor, Sergeant Koti Aondohemba, brought the defendant before an Ogba Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on five counts of assault.
Aondohemba told the court that the offences contravened sections 10(b)(c)(d) of the Child Rights Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The charges read in part, “That you, Chidima Nnachi, on February 7, 2018 around 3.30pm, on Aso Rock Street, Brucknor Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did inflict injuries on one Vera, 10 years old, by burning her back with a hot kitchen knife and caused her bodily harm.
“That you, Chidima Nnachi, did unlawfully assault one Favour, five years old, by flogging her all over her body and inflicting injuries on her back and face, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 10(c) of the Child Rights Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and elected summary trial.
The presiding magistrate, Mr. A.O. Ogbe, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 5, 2018.

Jacob Zuma, the president of South Africa, has resigned after days of defying orders from the ruling African National Congress to leave office and on the eve of a no-confidence vote in parliament.
In a televised address to the nation late on Wednesday, the 75-year-old said he was a disciplined member of the ANC, to which he had dedicated his life.
“I fear no motion of no confidence or impeachment … I will continue to serve the people of South Africa and the ANC. I will dedicate my life to continuing to work for the execution of the policies of our organisation,” Zuma said.
“No life should be lost in my name. The ANC should never been divided in my name. I have therefore come to the decision to resign as president of the republic with immediate effect.”
The resignation ended an extraordinary day in South African politics, which had begun with a dawn raid on a business family at the centre of the recent corruption allegations levelled at Zuma.

A lady identified as Cynthia has revealed how she met her husband on a bus while traveling to Abuja. According to her, meeting her hubby on that bus five years ago is one of the best things that has happened to her as they both have a son together.
She narrated her story to Humans of Abuja. Read what she said below;
My name is Cynthia and I met my husband on a bus while coming to Abuja 5 years ago. It was my first time in Abuja and I intended staying with my cousin in Abuja before I could start working and earning money. My cousin lived in Wuse which was my destination while my husband who is a business man lived at Kubwa.
While in the bus, we started a healthy conversation we talked about so many things and laughed as if we had known each other for a long time. At a point in our discussion I fell asleep and rested my head on his shoulder unknowingly, when I woke up and realized myself, I looked at him and he smiled and he said I could sleep more.
On getting to my final bus stop in Abuja, I called my cousin but her number was switched off I was angry. I tried so many times but I couldnt get her on call and I cried because it was my first time in Abuja and I didn’t know any place in Abuja.
My husband consoled me and told me that I could stay in his apartment for that night till I could reach my sister on the phone. I was so scared at first I refused his offer but i realized that I didn’t have any other option than to follow him because I didn’t have enough money to pay for a hotel that night. I went home with him on getting to his house he showed me a room which I slept in peacefully. I woke up in the morning and tried my sisters number again, it was available and he spoke with my cousin.
My husband directed her to his house, and she came to pick me that morning, we exchanged numbers and we talked for months and started dating. He got a job for me and in less than two years of our relationship we got married and I have a son now.
He is one of the best things that happened to me after so many failed relationships and he loves me with everything in him. I bless the day I met him in that bus.
A few days after the bizarre report that a snake ‘swallowed’ about N36 million from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s vault in Benue State, another state co-ordinator of the board in Nassarawa state has come up with a rather strange story to back an alleged fraud.
This time, JAMB staffer, Labaran Tanko, said his car got burnt and in the process scratch cards worth N23 million were destroyed in the inferno.
However, not impressed, as in the case of the Benue saga, the board, reacting through its registrar, dismissed Mr. Tanko’s claims.
The board said after a thorough investigation, it discovered that the cards which reportedly burnt alongside Mr. Tanko’s car were used by students in Nassarawa state to register.
It said this was easy to discover through simple checks done by its officials.
Mr. Tanko, who made this confession at a session where suspects of fraud and criminality were interrogated by top officials of the board, including Registrar Ishaq Oloyede, however stood by his claim.
“I thank God that I am alive today,” Mr Tanko told the panel. “I had an accident on July 3rd 2016. I was not the one that packed the cards because I was rushed to the hospital, and they came to pack the burnt scratch cards to the office but it could not be counted. I have the serial numbers of the cards.”
Until Mr. Oloyede’s took over as registrar, JAMB candidates usually purchased scratch cards from JAMB state offices and other designated centres to gain access to the board’s website for either registration or to check their admission status.
However, new reforms introduced by Mr. Oloyede, when he assumed office in 2016, ended the use of scratch cards, replacing it with a more efficient and effective platforms.
So, after two weeks in the Big Brother House.. and after, 2 weeks of torments and gettign curved, Housemates, Cee-C and Tobi have finally kissed, and it’s the sweetest thing you’d see today.

A pastor identified as Chinedu, has been dragged into controversy after a female church member, Mrs Glory, gave a testimony during a midweek service on how God has rewarded her with N500,000 through a contract in Lagos.
The incident happened at Afolabi Oyewole street in Ejigbo where the church is located and the woman in question resides.
It was gathered that Pastor Chinedu did not wait till the next day, as he went to Mrs Glory’s house in the night at about 11 pm because the woman had told him that he had the money in cash and she would go to the bank to deposit it the next morning.
The victim added that the knock on the door by the pastor caught them unaware as members of the family were afraid thinking that it was armed robbers, not until he raised his voice and they knew it was their pastor.
P.M.Express reports that Pastor Chinedu asked her to bring the whole money for him to settle some debts in the church building project and promised to return the money the following week. She went inside the fridge where she kept the money and handed it to the pastor.
She said before the pastor collected the money from her, the pastor commanded her to use the money to circle round his head and said “the money will not kill Pastor Chinedu” for three times before he collected the money and went away.
It was gathered that when the woman realized her mistake, she went to the church to demand the money back from the pastor. To her surprised, Pastor Chinedu told her that the money had been sowed as seed to the church.
When Mrs Glory repeatedly insisted that she wanted her money back, Chinedu ordered that the church security should send her away and never allowed her to come to the church again.
It was learnt the incident led to the church sacking members of Mrs Glory’s family from the church and they were not allowed close to the church.
The victim is now in a dilemma on what to do as she went to the Police Station at Ejigbo to report the matter, unfortunately there was no proof that she gave such amount of money to Chinedu.
It was gathered that the victim is now jobless and left to her fate in the house because all the money she was using for the supply was collected by the pastor.

The disgraced ex-Team USA doctor Larry Nassar got a private jet from Michigan to Arizona where he will begin his federal prison stint.
The 54-year-old doctor was seen being transported without a jacket and shackled on the snowy tarmac at Detroit Metro Wayne County Airport on Friday, as he was transported to the US Penitentiary Tucson.
The flight lasted four hours and 36 minutes, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons would not comment on if it is typical for a high-profile prisoner to fly private citing ‘security reasons’ that they don’t comment on methods of transport.
By Saturday, Nassar was listed as an inmate at US Penitentiary Tucson. A high-security facility that houses 1,387 inmates along with a 149-inmate minimum-security satellite camp in Pima County.
At the penitentiary, Nassar will be given prison clothing tagged with his name and registration number, 21504-040.
Inmates are responsible for making their beds, sweeping and mopping their cell floors ‘and ensuring their cell is clean and sanitary,’ the inmate admission and orientation handbook
Wake-up for all inmates is at 6am with headcounts held at midnight, 3am, 5am,4pm, and 10pm, according to the inmate admission and orientation handbook
The handbook says inmates can use computers but don’t have internet access.
It’s currently unknown if Nassar will share a cell or be put into protective custody to avoid possible violence from other prisoners.

Five people sustained several minor injuries, after passengers on board a Delta Airline Flight from Lagos Nigeria to Atlanta used emergency slides to evacuate the flight and returned to the airport in Lagos, after one of the planes engine caught fire.
According to Delta, the Airbus A330-200 had an issue with one of its two engines. Flight 55 landed safely but five passengers suffered minor injuries during the evacuation while the plane was on the runway.
The passengers evacuated the plane using escape slides which is an unusual occurrence that shows the seriousness of the incident.
Delta’s website indicates that the Airbus A330-200 has 234 seats. It has two Pratt & Whitney PW4000 turbofan engines.
The engine’s manufacturer, Pratt & Whitney, said in a statement that it’s working with “authorities to assess the situation.”

Yesterday, the housemates were pair were reshuffled, and the game saw Tobi get paired with BamBam, and Cee-C to Lolu.

Kano state has recorded a gory accident, which saw 22 secondary school student dead.
According to multiple reports, the students were going on an excursion to a radio station in Kano state, when they were involved in a fatal accident at Gaya local government area of the state yesterday February 13th.
The accident, which occurred at about 11.00 a.m., involved a truck and the bus conveying the students from Misau local government, Bauchi to the radio station. Eyewitnesses say the bus collided with the truck as both were trying to avoid a pothole at Samia Uku village.
The victims have been buried according ot Islamic injunction. The funeral prayers took place at emir’s palace, Misau Emirate Council. May their souls rest in peace, Amen.

When someone was talking to me, I’d blankly be staring at empty space. Then I would scream, to chase away pictures. This happened a lot of time.
But in 2013, my sister’s epileptic condition had gotten worse as well.

After an hour of sharing. “I have a feeling God has begun the healing journey with me, I don’t know how many of us would like to begin this journey with me,” I asked.
Nothing.
Even my closest friends did not come close to me. I was like the plague. They started judging me, they did not want to be associated with porn guy.
I lived with that stigma for a couple of months standing up to the rebuke of telling my story.
But a certain pastor in Mombasa helped me with advice in series of meetings. I was in a journey back to recovery.
But on my end, the struggle had just begun and it was not easy. Sometimes I could share my story, and still, watch the videos at night.
Enough was enough.
I met a guy from Teens Development Initiative that ran counselling in high school. They decided to include me as part of their team. We did over 60 schools with storytelling taking centre stage.
Without realizing it, that period had helped me heal. I had stopped watching pornographic material.
My life had been crowded by either the teen initiative or epilepsy awareness events.
I tell my story to encourage people that it’s possible to unchain from difficult vices. Refocus your mind to less harmful things.
I would later be appointed as a board member at National Epilepsy Coordination board for my efforts in creating awareness and reaching out to the affected.
Seeking help for my sister really helped me evade the vice that was eating me up.

The Nigerian Army says credible information indicates that factional leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, now dresses as a woman in an effort to escape from the Theatre of Operation.
Army Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, who confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday, said Shekau could no longer bear the heat and had abandoned his followers.
“He is running for his dear life. He is desperately trying to escape the theatre, disguised as a woman and dressed in Hijab.
“We reliably gathered that to avoid detection, Abubakar Shekau alternates between blue and black coloured hijabs. He was last seen in a black hijab.
“We, therefore, call on all those remaining Boko Haram terrorists to know that they are following a coward moving about in hijab and disguising as a woman.
“We also request all the remaining Boko Haram members to come out from hiding and lay down their arms and be treated humanely,’’ Usman said.
He said concerted efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fugitive terrorist leader.
The army spokesman, therefore appealed to members of the public, especially the residents of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to be more vigilant and security conscious.
He also asked them to be on the lookout for Shekau and other terrorists who might disguise as women to escape.
Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has said he will not sit aloof and wait for a Pastor to visit a shrine to kill him just because he wants to prove a point that he has the power to make and unmake.
