After 149 days in detention, Former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefielehas finally been produced in court today, Wednesday 8th November 2023, for a hearing on his bail application.
Dressed in a yellow kaftan and cap, Emefiele arrived flanked by EFCC operatives at 12:30pm.
Last week, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi had ordered Emefiele’s release or for him to be brought to court for the bail hearing.
The EFCC had failed to comply with the order of the FHC directing it to produce Emefiele in court on Monday or release him unconditionally.
Following the disobedience by the commission, the court restated its order and adjourned proceedings till Wednesday.
However, the EFCC complied with the order as Emefiele was led into the court by heavily armed operatives.
This follows months of custody by security agencies, with formal charges now being presented.
Emefiele faces accusations of financial crimes during his tenure as CBN Governor from 2014 to 2022.
He has been in detention since June 10, charged with procurement fraud. However, his trial has stalled since August when the Department of State Services failed to present him in court to enter a plea.
Wednesday’s court appearance marks a significant development in Emefiele’s legal saga.
Upcoming Nigerian singer and songwriter, Daniella Daniel, also known as Morravey, revealed in an interview with City FM that she quit medical school for music.
Morravey who was signed into DMW 2.0 and featured in Davido’s newly released album ‘Timeless’ is a medical student.
During the interview, the interviewer asked if she was done with medical school and Morravey replied her by saying no.

When asked by the interviewer if she would like to go back to school and study something different, Morravey sounded positive and said she definitely will.

The National Industrial Court in Abuja, on March 31st, 2023, delivered a judgment by Justice Ayodele Obaseki Osaghae ordering the immediate reinstatement of Mrs. Victoria Ayantuga, an Assistant General Manager at the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), who was wrongfully dismissed from the organization. Mrs. Ayantuga, along with some of her colleagues, had their employment unlawfully terminated in a highly publicized manner via newspapers on June 1st, 2021.
This wrongful suspension and dismissal led to a protracted legal battle, culminating in a judgment that favored Mrs. Ayantuga. The court declared the actions of the NSITF Management Board and the former Minister of Labor & Employment, Chris Ngige, as “unlawful, illegal, null and void, and of no effect whatsoever” in accordance with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund Act and Staff Conditions of Service. The court’s order set aside the dismissal.
This judgment was rendered in a suit marked NICN/ABJ/223/2021, initiated on August 27th, 2021, by Mrs. Ayantuga to challenge her dismissal from the federal government agency. Justice Obaseki, in her ruling, emphasized that the facts presented by the claimant in the supporting affidavit were unchallenged by the defendants, thus accepted and acted upon by the court.
The court’s judgment, delivered on March 31st, 2023, was comprehensive and left no room for ambiguity. It directed Mrs. Ayantuga’s immediate reinstatement and the payment of all outstanding salaries, increments, and allowances dating back to her suspension in July 2020. The judgment, as outlined in the official document available on the National Industrial Court of Nigeria’s website, included several key declarations:
Employment Status: The court affirmed the validity of Mrs. Ayantuga’s employment with the NSITF and her entitlement to all remuneration and entitlements.
Immediate Reinstatement: The court ordered the immediate reinstatement of Mrs. Victoria Ayantuga to her position at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, with no loss of seniority, rank, or grade level. She was to be placed in the position of Deputy General Manager she would have held if her employment had not been illegally terminated.
Payment of Salaries and Allowances: NSITF was instructed to promptly pay Mrs. Ayantuga all her outstanding salaries, increments, and allowances from the date of her suspension in July 2020 until the execution of the court’s order.
Costs Awarded: In addition to the above, the court ordered the payment of costs of action amounting to N500,000.00 in favor of Mrs. Ayantuga.
Despite the court’s clear directives, subsequent efforts to fully comply with the judgment, including Mrs. Ayantuga’s complete reinstatement to her position, payment of outstanding salaries, preservation of her rank and seniority, and payment of the cost of action, have not been implemented. Legal representatives have corresponded with the relevant offices to ensure compliance with both the court order and the Minister’s directives.
The Minister of Labor & Employment, Rt. Honourable Simon Lalong, intervened to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice was served. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to adhering to the rule of law and not allowing any organization or government institution to disregard court orders.
Mrs. Ayantuga’s wrongful dismissal, despite her outstanding contributions and special promotion, was deemed unacceptable by the court, which cited international labor standards in support of its decision.

In a startling turn of events, the Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a self-proclaimed pastor of a white garment church in Agbado, Ogun State.
The pastor stands accused of issuing fake prophecies and the abduction of a 21-year-old woman.
According to authorities, the victim, identified as Aliu Blessing, visited the church to see her ailing sister.
It was during her visit that the pastor allegedly made a chilling prophecy, warning Blessing that she would meet her demise on her wedding day if she refused to engage in sexual relations with him.
Furthermore, the pastor claimed that any man who dared to pursue a romantic relationship with Blessing would also suffer a similar fate.
Tragically, on February 2, 2023, Blessing was reportedly abducted by the pastor and taken to an undisclosed location, where she remained for over seven months.
However, her ordeal came to an end when she managed to escape and return home on November 5, 2023.
Blessing’s uncle, Aliu Yusuf, promptly informed the police about the incident.

An unconfirmed report has claimed that Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, the mother of internet sensation Oreofeoluwa, has taken her own life in Benin, Edo state.

A lady whose identity is still unknown has reportedly murdered her friend during an argument in their apartment in Dubai, UAE.
The video which was shared on the microblogging platform X formerly known as Twitter by a user @obaofph01 was a horrific accident.
In the video, two ladies were seen arguing in an apartment, with one of them holding a knife. The deceased had tried to intervene and settle the dispute but met her end when the lady in possession of the knife slit her arm with it.
After the incident, the victim was heard telling the other ladies in the apartment to look at what the lady had done to her, while threatening to call the police.

Media personality, Daddy Freeze, has described how, many years ago, his cleric’s treatment of him caused him to quit going to church.
The controversial OAP claimed that his pastor at the time had barred him from sitting in the front row of the church
Daddy Freeze made this known during a recent episode of the Teju Babyface ‘Deep Dive’ audiovisual podcast.
He disclosed that he was informed by the pastor of the church he was attending that he would have to take a seat in the back due to his divorce.
The social media influencer claimed that he was a church worker who was heavily involved in the program’s organisation. However, following the event, he opted not to go to church rather than “hide” in the back seat.
Freeze went on to say that he began studying and investigating the Bible on Sundays and that’s how he found that the majority of the teachings given by Nigerian churches were flawed.

“My marriage had always been troubled and in 2014 it came to an end. And I remember I used to do events in my church. The church minister used to pay me then to do events which I celebrated. At least, the pastor was not eating all the money, he was sharing with the people who were working.

Nigerian chef and restaurateur, Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has addressed queries from netizens about the alteration of her bio information on social media.
Recall that Alan Fisher, an Irish chef, just overthrew Hilda and took the title of the Guinness world record holder for the longest individual cooking marathon.
Hilda Baci congratulated him immediately on the microblogging platform, X, upon the announcement that he had broken the record.
She then proceeded to remove the record-holder title from her bio as she gracefully accepted her current status.
This did not sit well with some netizens, who opined that she was still a record holder despite everything.
She then took to her X account to state that she was respectfully acknowledging the new title holder, just as Chef Lata acknowledged her.
She wrote,

Achieving such a record is no small feat, and I know this firsthand. I have only the greatest admiration for the hard work it took for Alan to reach such heights. Wunmi, the wife of late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad has disclosed that since her husband’s passing, she has been the target of death threats.
Speaking in the Candide-Johnson Court House in Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu, Wunmi said that following her husband’s passing, she started receiving death threats.
She said;
“A lot of people are defaming me on TikTok, (a social media platform). I left my husband’s house because I am not safe there”
Wunmi said in cross-examination by David Fadile, the attorney for Mohbad’s father, that she gets along well with her father-in-law and considers him to be her best friend. She denied getting a visa to Canada as well.
However, she also said that Mohbad wished for them to go to Canada since he was said to have a great deal of opponents in Nigeria.
Wunmi also recounted how Mohbad made sure he didn’t put her and their child on social media because he wanted to protect them. She also disclosed that she had known Mohbad for more than ten years, dating back to her days in secondary school.
Wunmi refuted the claim that she and her late husband got into a fight. She revealed that Mohbad wanted to visit the hospital to get his injury from his run-in with Prime Boy treated, but he chose not to go because of his fear of Naira Marley and his past experiences with NDLEA agents.
She disclosed that on Monday, September 11, she discovered a bloodstain on the bed sheet, indicating that her spouse had suffered a cut during a fight with Prime Boy.
She also said that they had to use first-aid and Panadol because the nurse who was meant to treat Mohbad wasn’t there.
The singer had several injections in his left arm on Tuesday, September 12, after her husband’s friend, Spending, contacted a different nurse.
Wunmi, who disclosed that she was in the kitchen preparing food and forgot to ask about the kind of injection he received, claimed to have only witnessed the nurse attempting to administer another shot into his hand. However, Mohbad told the nurse to be careful because he was an ulcer patient.
Wunmi stated on Taiwo Olawanle’s cross-examination from Falana and Falana Chamber that her late spouse was first brought to Kuda Hospital, which did not treat him, and then to another hospital, which declared him dead.
Under cross-examination by Olumayowa Ogunsami, the deceased’s father’s attorney, she said that her late husband broke up his friendship with a certain Michael, also known as Mice, upon learning that the latter was an informant for Naira Marley.
She claims her late spouse discovered he was recording the conversation when he went to a lawyer to discuss royalties Naira Marley owed him.
The case was postponed until November 15 for further proceedings.

Social media influencer Ogechi Ukonu popularly known as Caramel Plugg has questioned married men in Lagos who cheat on their wives.
According to Caramel, Lagos men would lie that they are single, abandon their beautiful wives and cheat on them with little girls.
She said this after some ladies on the microblogging platform X formerly known as Twitter, shared screenshots of their chats with some married men.
The influencer went further to question married men if they need help or they were forced to marry to marry their wives.
She said,

The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, has tackled reality TV star,Phyna, following her altercation with a policeman.
Recall that the Big Brother Naija “Level Up” winner recently went live on Instagram as she engaged in a heated argument with a police officer who took her photograph during a stop and search.
The policeman stressed that it is acceptable for them to film and take photos of the individuals they are keeping tabs on. Phyna voiced her disapproval, claiming to be unaware of any such rule.
Phyna further aggravated the issue by wondering why she was the target of hate crimes and condemning those who were pressuring the authorities to take action against her.

In a shocking turn of events, the lifeless body of Adaeze, a second-year Accounting student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), was discovered in her off-campus residence in Aluu on Friday, November 3.
