The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has reached an agreement with the federal government.

The accord comes after a meeting, which lasted 12 hours, between the leadership of the union and a government delegation led by Adamu Adamu, minister of education.

Speaking with journalists at the end of the meeting, Biodun Ogunyemi, national president of ASUU, said the dialogue yielded “a concrete proposal”, but that the union would have to reach its members for a decision.

“Now we have some concrete proposal that we will take back to our members for consideration,” he said.

Also addressing journalists, the minister of education said the demands of the union had been taken care of and that it would call off its strike within a week.

Since ASUU embarked on strike on August 14, the government has held meetings with the union, which were deadlocked, until that of Thursday.

ASUU went on the strike owing to the failure of the government to implement the 2009 agreement it reached with the union.

The union is asking, among other things, the government to pay its members their earned allowances and to increase funding for universities.

Five nurses have been suspended, after they were caught opening a body bag to check out the size of a deceased mans genitals. DailyMail UK reports.

Another nurse who overheard their exchange felt that it was inappropriate and reported it to her superiors on May 8.

The incident took place at the Denver Health Medical Center, and it happened between late March and early April, but then, it wasn’t reported until a month after.

Police officials in Denver investigated the matter, but ultimately found that no crime has been committed and allowed hospital officials to discipline its snooping staffers internally. So the nurses involved were suspended from their jobs for 3 weeks.

Four of the nurses have since returned to work. The fifth nurse is no longer employed by the hospital, but she was not fired, according to officials.

Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Professor Itse Sagay says information he has gathered, shows that every senator in Nigeria collects N29 million as monthly salary and N3 billion per annum.

According to the Nation, Sagay disclosed this when he spoke at the Nigerian Society of International Law (NSIL) Public Lecture titled;

“The Many Afflictions of Anti-Corruption Crusade in Nigeria” in Lagos yesterday September 6th.

“From the information I have gathered, a Nigerian Senator earns about N29 million a month and over #3 billion a year” he said

The comprehensive breakdown of the salary of the Senators given by Professor Sagay amounted to #3, 264, 329, 264.10 per annum.

Sagay expressed his reservations about young people vying for political office.

According to him, most politicians are greedy and very corrupt and that the younger the politician is, the more corrupt he turns out to be

“One common thread that runs through the attitude of recent politicians borders on greed, avarice, self-service, and accumulation of wealth at the expense of the country. Why the rush? A young politician who wants to run at 25 will still become 30, it is just a matter of five years. Why can’t they wait to run? Most politicians are just consumed by greed and the younger they get, the corrupt they become,” he said

Although, the particular brand of Breguet worn by the president was not identified. It could be assumed that the president’s watch cost about 16,000 to 22,000 dollars.
